Resting at the bottom of a large, horse-shoe shaped gorge, Horizon is a well-hidden patch of paradise utterly unlike the barren wasteland that surrounds it. Two enormous waterfalls located on either end of the gorge flow down into a series of crystal clear pools: the only source of water for miles. These pools feed into series of small streams which in turn support an impossible forest of gnarled trees, tropical flowers, and vines that crawl up along the rocky surface. At the end of winter, year 3, this paradise was discovered and people have barely begun to develop it and build a new home here.
The waters of the oasis make it possible for all sorts of plant and animal-life to flourish. The gorge is home to a small, but lush jungle, just ripe for exploration. Adventurers should take care, however, as the jungle is home to an array of dangerous wildlife and poisonous plants.
Hidden within a large sinkhole-cave out in the oasis lies a gorgeous underground spring. Flowers and vines fed by the spring climb up the walls while roots from above reach down towards the crystal clear waters. Accessible via an ancient carved staircase, this is a wonderful place to kick back and go for a swim!
After a day of hard work, this large, if crudely constructed, building is a great place for the residents of Horizon to kick back and relax. This is a great place to chat, play games, and grab a drink and a bite to eat…assuming the supplies are available. Built on flat rock, the only ‘floor’ is a ragtag collection of blankets, Jackalope furs, and the occasional small woven carpets. A few small tables and wooden chairs also dot the area, but these are almost always occupied. For the most part the ground is where it’s at! …At least until Horizon gets a few more carpenters.
