"You can meet interesting people, but also dangerous people," Quirrel replied ambivalently. He didn't particularly care for either sections of the city, in terms of how they worked. "I've met fascinating people from both halves of Elysium. Not all who live there like the place because it's easy to live there, many are drawn by getting to live among the stars."

It was somewhat amusing to see the Hat Kid struggle to use her own kitchen. He almost went over to try helping out, but the girl managed it before he needed to intervene. He decided not to bring up how if all she needed was something to stand on it would be trivial to find a sturdy box in a junkyard.

Having been given permission, and feeling confident in his ability to not break everything he touched, Quirrel went to peer through the telescope. Very nice, to get to view the stars from so close a distance to them. He pressed his face towards the lens to look through it clearly, letting it protrude slightly into his mask's eyehole. "Oh, hmmm, hot chocolate is fine," the bug answered distractedly, busy taking a look.

"Huh. Well I get to do that already, so I guess I don't get the call myself."
She had to admit space was rather interesting and pretty, but she was used to it's call by now. The adventures on planets with people were often so much more exiting when it came down to it.
"Well which half should we go to then? I'm sure the teleport er could put us on either."

Hat Kid grabbed two mugs down from her cupboard, along with two small packets of instant hot chocolate. It dawned on her that this too would be something she would need to buy, especially at the rate she was using it. She certainly hoped that money exchange place was real, because she'd need it before long.

Either way, she hopped down from the counter with the four items, and filled the mugs with water from the sink. Not wanting to spend an incredibly long time boiling a teapot for two glasses, she just threw them in the microwave and set it for a few minutes. As she waited, she turned t watch Quirrel as he looked through her telescope.
    "See anything cool out there?"

"Plenty of people in Pandora come from worlds where space travel isn't even considered within the realm of possibility," Quirrel remarked, continuing to adjust the telescope. "Myself included. And just as many come from places where it's impossible for the layperson to get the chance to go to space. It's only natural for those types to be excited about how easy the process is in Pandora." He felt the pull himself, but there was just as much of interest on the planet that he had no reason to explore the stars.

"As for where to go, the Overcity would make more sense in my opinion," the bug answered after a moment's delay. It wasn't a decision that really mattered, but he figured that starting in the safer half would be a good idea.

He had managed to find several interesting things in such a short time, one of which being an incredibly lucky catch. "Well, I started off looking at Prometheum," Quirrel explained to the Hat Kid. "That's a planet said to be the source of Prometheus Dust, a material that simply cancels magic and anything similar. But right now, I found something very rare. The rumors I've heard about an asteroid with a single decrepit house on it were true after all!" He was moving the telescope around a bit to track it. "Luck really has been smiling on me, to see this."

Hat Kid shrugged at the mention that people from worlds without space travel would be interested in such a thing.
"On the world I came from, only the Moon Penguins knew how to get from world to world. The humans couldn't, but instead of being interested in my ship, they were either scared of me for being an alien, or just didn't really care. The only one that really seemed that interested was Cooking Cat, but they just sort of barged in without my permission."
Though some of the persons in her statement seemed odd, or rather fictional, they weren't the center of the statement. Her main point had simply been to point out a different view on the situation then what her guest had described.

"Well if you think the Overcity is the best place to go, I should sure as peck listen to you. I'm new here after all."
She would bow down to the old timer's experience on this debate. She was certain someone like them would probably know what they were doing.

As she listened to the various places that Quirrel listed off, she couldn't help but feel a slight twinge of both awe and curiosity.
"Those sound super cool. I should see if I can try to go to those places some time."
She had no idea if her ship would even work in the vicinity of a rock that blocked all magic, but it still seemed like an interesting place to check out nonetheless. And a house on an asteroid would be even more interesting when she had the time.

Shortly her thoughts were drowned out with the sound of beeping as the microwave ended it's cycle, causing Hat Kid to pull it open and slowly withdraw the two mugs. As she began to open the packets of drink mix and add them, a question came to mind that she chose to ask.
"So you said you were an explorer in the cave, but is that all you do? I don't know because I got kind of lucky on the last world, but exploring doesn't sound like a job that would get you too much money."

Well, he really couldn't argue with the reactions that Hat Kid described. "Some people like to keep their world familiar. Many people, in fact," he replied, agreeing with the statement. "I can't say I blame them, even if I couldn't live like that myself." The bug had a sort of silent pity for those who didn't realize just how large and exciting the world could be, but he couldn't blame them.

"The Overcity is safer and gives you a better view on what the intended feel of the city is supposed to be. It was designed to be the main city, while the Undercity naturally arose over time," Quirrel explained his reasoning, despite the kid already accepting his opinion. "Or so I've heard, I wasn't around when this place was established." He wasn't around because he was busy being dead from the Calamity, but that was neither here nor there. "And when it comes to those locations, I'd recommend skipping Prometheum. The Elysium government is very protective of it, and aside from that I've heard the gravity is crushing. The abandoned house should be fine, though. It used to be on the main planet years ago, actually!" He had seen it in Misty Hollow, even. "No clue what happened to put it up here, though."

He had to hand it to the kid, she was pretty sharp. Most people just accepted his stated career at face value, not thinking too deeply about it. "Exploring on its own is indeed pretty abysmal in terms of providing an income," the beetle answered, nodding in agreement. "But there are ways to make a profit off of doing what one loves. Escorting people through dangerous areas, seeking rare materials in the wilderness, and several other tasks allow me to travel while making some cash. Not that I need much, I'm perfectly adept at living off the land!" After pausing for a few seconds, he amended his statement slightly. "Actually, I'll be teaching at the Schola Praeditos, Pandora's magic school, next Fall."

Hat Kid chuckled a little bit before she responded on her own.
"I feel like I'd get bored if I stayed on one place for so long. It's always fun to get put in a new place and trying to figure out how stuff works."
Maybe that was why she had been having so much fun in Pandora. Sure, she hadn't gone on many lavish adventures with overarching heroes and villains, but it had been fun just meeting new people and talking with them.

When the conversation once more shifted to the Elysian city however, Hat Kid once more just shrugged.
"If you think it's safer then we might as well. Danger never hurt anyone too much though."
She chose to leave it at her oxymoronic statement, not wanting to go against the choices of her guest. She did respond to the other locations more literally though.
"Well if it's being guarded, that just makes me wanna go there more. Maybe one day."
She left out the house in space for now due to the fact that it had exhausted it's meaning in her mind. She knew she would probably visit it anyways though.

But finally came the discussion on exploration, and it's production of income. She couldn't help but frown a bit as the chance of money only came with secondary additions.
"Too bad I look like a kid, only other kids will hire me to do those things. Only adults have the money though."
In the end that was what it came down to. Hat Kid was probably capable of doing most opening level jobs, but her appearance barred her from doing so. For now she guessed she would just continue exploring without monetary gain. Or at least that's what she would have left it at, if Quirrel hadn't continued as Hat Kid stirred the two mugs of liquid chocolate.
"There's a magic school in Pandora?!"
She had never been to school herself, but one that was magical, and apparently employed insects, would have to be interesting, right?

"Ones such as us were never meant to stay static," Quirrel agreed wholeheartedly. He'd endure even the most brutal consequences if it meant keeping the freedom to go where he wished. "The world is so vast, it would be a waste to leave even a single corner unexplored!" That was his driving ideal. See everything the world had to offer, not just in terms of exploring but also regarding people and knowledge.

Having belabored the point of where they'd arrive long enough, the beetle moved on from that topic. Hat Kid was correct about how her apparent age would impede her ability to follow his own example. "I suppose you're right about that, though I wouldn't say it's impossible," he commented. "People might not respect the strength of children as much here as they did back home, but I've seen young men and women trusted with frankly absurdly dangerous tasks since arriving here." He shrugged lightly. "Still, I'm sure there are easier paths available to you."

Seemed like the child was interested in the Schola. "Indeed there is," Quirrel confirmed. "The Schola is in the Crystal Vales, built on an island floating in the sky. All sorts attend and teach there. Of course I'm only just getting involved, so I couldn't tell you how well it lives up to its good reputation."

Hat Kid pressed even further with her opinions.
"And people too! So many unique guys and girls just walkin' around here. I feel like just about everyone is an adventure waiting to happen."
That was how she usually appreciated people. Adventures and quests brought on by and with people were her main forms of both entertainment, and her main livelihood. It hadn't failed her yet, and she doubted it would any time soon.

As the time shifted to jobs and responsibility, she shrugged in response.
"Well if you can think of an easier way for money other then a job, get back to me on that."
She would soon be needing purchasing power in order to replace her dwindling supplies, along with any other miscellaneous needs that may arise. Like a stepping stool, among other things.

But finally came a more in depth description of this supposed school.
"So you're telling me there's a floating sky island for magical kids? That's awesome, like super awesome."
She paused for a moment, before looking down at her umbrella.
"Aww peck, I wish I was a mage or something, that would be super cool."

"My thoughts exactly," Quirrel agreed wholeheartedly. People were a treasure trove of novelty and excitement. The fact that he had been so starved for interaction back home only made the beetle appreciate it more in Pandora. "Every little action can lead to a grand time, with a bit of luck. Harder to avoid getting dragged into an adventure in Pandora, in my opinion, than it is to find one."

The Schola was definitely an interesting place, so he could understand why Hat Kid was so excited about it. But he had perhaps explained it a tiny bit inaccurately. "Well, to say it's for magical kids is slightly incorrect," Quirrel corrected himself. "Those who attend merely need to differ from the norm, from what I've heard. As long as one isn't just an average human being they can attend." He shook his head a bit, clearly finding that criteria slightly ridiculous. "Any ability that is not natural. Some can even be technologically based rather than arcane." Far too lenient, in his opinion. From what he heard, they even let in things like talking animals with the ability to talk being their only special trait. "Well, even if they can't use magic when they enroll, most students will learn some in the course of their studies there."

"You could probably learn some sort of magic, even," he added in response to the kid's desire to be a mage. "While many forms of magic are... exclusive to specific groups of people, there are just as many fields which, with time and effort, could be used by just about anyone. It's not as easy as having a natural aptitude, but the possibility is there."
