    "Stop worrying, it'll be fine."
Rey hissed at BB-8 as she walked towards the shuttle. Though she'd been by this way since the last time she'd spoken to Ben's grandfather, this was the first time that she had come here with the purpose of actually seeing him. She remembered the shuttle as being his because it was where he had broken off from their walk through the town wordlessly. Since then, her relationship with Ben had grown stronger and he had taken over the SUF from Darth Vadar, so she knew that he wouldn't have as much to do. Unless he'd taken over something else, but Ben hadn't told her anything like that, so she had to assume that maybe he'd have the free time to do this. It couldn't hurt to ask, could it?

What she was after, really, was a ride and it so happened that Ben's grandfather owned a spaceship capable of travelling where she needed to go. She'd been asked to scavenge some vegetation from up on the moon which orbited Pandora. Apparently there was a type of flower and fauna which grew up there, which her client in Blackhaven was more than willing to pay very well for. The opportunity, really, had been too good to pass up. She and Ben had only just moved into their new home and she wanted to be able to put up money to contribute to their life there and help to furnish it. Sure, Ben earned enough for the two of them, but she didn't want to rely on that. Rey wanted to be able to buy things, and to buy him things too.

As she boarded the shuttle, her heart started to ring in her ears. The last thing she wanted to do was annoy Ben's grandfather, but she was only asking a favour. He could say no if he really wanted to; she'd have to think of something else then, which was fine, but she wanted to try this first. BB-8 rolled cautiously next to her, being suspiciously quiet. Rey was about to address this with him as she walked through the shuttle, assuming Vadar would be further within the ship.

Though she never got to tease BB-8 on his nervousness, as all at once, the door behind her slammed shut and she felt the familiar hum of engines as they blared to life beneath her feet. "Oh, oh no." Rey breathed to herself, not able to steady herself before she went over onto her back as the vehicle shook and moved forwards. BB-8 squeaked at her, using his machinery to grab onto a pipe so that he didn't go flying as the ship moved into action, and away from Pandora Town.

His schedule had undergone some recent freeing up. Gone were the growing petty frustrations and annoyances of Town Business, and in its place... the decidedly less frustrating and annoying affairs of Station Business. He supposed he just enjoyed it more. For one who had finally gotten around to wiping his once murky slate of ulterior motives, StarsX really did present itself as the ideal post-retirement vocation. If he could fully immerse himself in the studies of the stars which mysteriously surrounded this box-world so, he could almost imagine he was in the galaxy again.

A younger, simpler galaxy where there was still a Padmé to return to. And a population who thought he was only slightly ridiculous, instead of the Boogeyman.

None of that meant he could be the bright-eyed Jedi Knight of that simpler galaxy again, who would have certainly and courteously delayed the launch of his shuttle to address the familiar spike in the Force that was likely Rey. As inexperienced as she was, the strength of her signature was almost impossible to mistake. Why was she here? She couldn't have sent an email?

Either way, the blast doors, shields, and all protocols were already safely secured, and the craft lurched into the skies, past the pull of gravity and through the fissure in the ceiling and into the embrace of the dark expanse pin-pricked by stars.

"You didn't announce yourself. I assumed you didn't care to be found." The shuttle was designed for speed, short distances, and quick trips- not a yacht meant for days' worth of cruising. And that meant his voice carried easily past the open cockpit to the streamlined seating area. Once the generic astro-mech took hold of piloting controls with a few obedient beeps (Artoo, it was not), he swerved his chair, crossed his arms, and looked blankly in her general direction. "What do you what, Rey?"

Rey picked herself off the ground when the ship had stabilised, knowing she'd have a mottle of bruises on her arms and back. BB-8 was chirping away at her, telling her that he wasn't happy, though she stopped listening after that. She froze when she heard Vadar address her directly. She had felt his presence on the ship, but she hadn't exactly had the time to speak to him before he had taken off.

With BB-8 rolling along behind her, she made her way through the little ship until she was leaning up against the entrance to the cockpit, looking across at him. At least he'd ditched calling her scavenger and was using her actual name. "I actually came to ask for a favour." Rey's eyes briefly flickered to the window of the cockpit. She hadn't seen the beauty of outer space for some time, the last glances had been as she'd been in the throne room, as she and Ben had fought side by side. That alone felt like a lifetime ago. She blinked, realising she'd left an unintentional pause.

"A client asked for me to gather some fauna from the surface of the moon going around Pandora, I was going to ask if you could give me a lift there and back." A hopeful sort of smile passed her lips and they were already in space after all, so it was closer than if they were back in Pandora Town. "I'll offer up a favour for in the future if you need it, in return for this one."

A naturally easy friendliness was still in the distant horizon compared to his present reality, so when she finally revealed her intentions, and fixed him with a smile that sang of innocence and optimism (to the point where he thought he could almost hear exotic birds chirping with the steady hum of the spacecraft), he met her hopeful smile with an odd look.

There was a knitting of his brows, a glancing down at his lingering cybernetic hand with inklings of a thoughtful perplexion. "Why do you still scavenge?"

At worst Rey was just expecting him to say no, and she was fully prepared for that possibility. Then she'd have to pay for the convenience with actual money from someone else in Pandora Town with a vessel. That would take away from her profit but it would probably still end up being worth it. His question took her off guard a little and it showed on her face as a confused look pressed over her brows.

"It's my job." She replied somewhat weakly. It hadn't really been something she had considered since coming to Pandora Town when she'd first been reunited with Ben there. It had just made sense, she had known where some wreckage's were and it had been easy to just make some money from it. From there, people had heard about her skills and given her commissions and there hadn't been any time to question why she was doing what she was. Even Ben hadn't raised that one with her. Rey went to open her mouth again but paused, unsure of what else to add. She almost wanted to say to him what else was she supposed to do here? She'd only ever been a scavenger.

"Not the job you chose for yourself," he returned, still blankly but also still ... struggling to make sense of it. Scavenging as a profession wasn't generally pursued unless one were deprived of all other options or vivaciously passionate over it, and as far as he could tell Rey was hardly gushing with enthusiasm. She wasn't sitting around for a family that'd never come to fetch her or stranded in a desert with nothing but parts to pick at. Something to think about.

But before he gave the impression that he well and truly cared, he rotated his pilot's seat back to face the console. With a few taps from his fingers, a holographic chart of the moon's silvery landscape blinked into view. "We're destined for Luna," he patiently explained, the 'we' meaning that he had no intentions of turning the ship around either way, and pointed at the sprawling station depicted center-left. "Do you know which region you'll find your fauna, or do you intend to scout the entire surface?"

Again, Rey found herself at a loss of words of how to respond to him. No matter which path of thought she tried to pursue to justify her own position she stumbled and couldn't find the convincing words. She hadn't chosen the life as a scavenger, but her time on Jakku had meant that it had become one of the few things which she was really good at. However, her time in Pandora had been such that she hadn't really stopped to think that if she wasn't a scavenger, what other options might there be. However, she hadn't come here for a career chat and they were in space now- she still had a job to do.

"The northern region." She said, walking up a little closer into the cockpit and resting her hand on the back of the co-pilots seat. Rey didn't intend to just simply walk around without aim, and she hoped at least that there might be enough here to "I should be able to find what I need there." Her eyes were on the stars up ahead; it had been a long time, though the sight had never been that familiar to her back home. She was always much more used to sand and clear skies. It wasn't a surprise to her that even up here in space she could still feel the strength of her bond with Ben, thrumming clear. She focused on it for a brief moment, letting him know she was fine before returning her attentions to his grandfather. "Thank you, by the way. I did mean what I said, if you need a favour, you only have to ask."

He'd come to take for granted the alluring sights beyond the viewport. But he remembered that glint in her eyes, as she peered out into the firmature. He recognized that look of wonder and pushed away memories of a time where Master Qui-Gon Jinn had finally granted him a means of escape from Tatooine and opened the heavens to him. Rey, however, had been trapped on her wasteland much longer than he, and he wondered why he thought of that now.

"That is unnecessary." He frowned inexplicably. Not out of anger, but ruminating. Suddenly he rose to his feet, the seat rustling behind him. "We'll be cruising for another half hour," he informed her- at least, that's what the computers estimated this time where distances had a frustrating tendency to contract and expand.

Because of their knowledge of one another, and because of the compulsion to be more... conscientious, those thirty minutes had the potential to become more uncomfortable than the first time he picked up an unwitting stowaway. He needed to stop doing that, and sought his distractions in the direction of the engine room.

Maybe she'd find a way to put the favour back on him one day and repay it in some sense. It wasn't a matter of pride, more in not wanting to look as though she was taking advantage or presuming too much. Just because she was dating his grandson didn't mean she expected him to help her out at a moment's notice without her repaying it in kind.

Rey stepped to one side when he announced they would be around thirty minutes and she just nodded to indicate she'd heard and understood. BB-8 went forwards to engage the droid in the co-pilot's seat in conversation. Rey chewed down on her lip, contemplating the scene in front of her for only a moment before she turned on her heel and followed Vadar out of the cockpit through the little vessel. "What are you out in space for?" Rey bounced alongside him and spoke with sincere enthusiasm.

Perhaps this was an opportunity for them to get to know each other better, seeing as, at the very least, they would be stuck with each other for the journey there and back; she didn't intend to spend the time in silence. Rey saw this situation as a positive- she liked being around Ben's family.

Maybe he did want to get to know Rey. Maybe there existed a part of him that even felt something akin to respect for the young woman who managed to help reroute Ben Solo's catastrophe-bound trajectory. Something Jedi Masters could not have achieved for all their grand wisdom. Something Luke apparently failed to do, which posed a different set of issues entirely. Granted, there'd been something deeply flawed in that entire structure for centuries if not millennia, but it hadn't made her actions less significant.

That tentative desire to open up and learn more and be amiable, sincerely and without ulterior motive, was buried under twenty-something years of toxic muck that he had only just begun to dredge. His movements were as rigid and precise as always, but inside he felt the pent up equivalent of flailing. She was aware of the grim mythos and truths surrounding Darth Vader, and she still looked at him like that. His dark secrets should not have been a problem, because they were no secrets at all. So what were the problems?

"I have business in Elysium," he responded slowly, as if it were better than swift and curt. "They've been expanding." They were always expanding. "There are those who prefer that sort of environment over planetside, but Pandora is not even a planet." His steps led them down the short corridor to the engine room, with metal grate flooring about a circular ledge dipping down to where the hyperspace drive -- he still called it that -- could sat still and inert.

Rey left BB-8 in the cockpit and followed Vadar by herself, keeping pace by his side as he walked through the little ship. She had missed this type of travel; it was the only thing really she did miss from their world, aside from Finn of course. There hadn't been much which she had ever really took to heart back in their universe, but she knew she was a good pilot and even being on a ship like this made her stomach tie in knots. It was nothing like her first proper flight on the Falcon or when she'd fixed up a ship with two other scavengers on Jakku and they'd flown it into the Niima outpost. The latter experience left Rey with much more bitter feelings than the former.

His explanation was interesting to say the least. "Oh." Rey only waited a moment before continuing, "What exactly is your business in this area?" She would have said in space, but she wasn't sure if they should even give it that term. She wasn't even sure what they should call it. As he said, Pandora wasn't a planet like she understood planets to be. Her tone and attitude throughout remained upbeat. Rey was as ever an optimist and liked to look at things as opportunities. In this situation she felt as though she was getting the best out of the situation; she was getting to pick up the materials she had to scavenge while getting to know Ben's grandfather a little better. What else could she have wanted from the day?

"I'm involved in the expansion... of the base." Again with the loquaciousness. It wasn't as if he didn't know how to communicate. Curt remarks and biting words fell much more easily from his tongue, but suddenly he had motive to regrow his consideration for the feelings of those around him. Or some of those around him. A minor few. Maybe that included Rey, due to her relationship with family, which in turn tentatively made her a form of family in many human cultures-- it wasn't something he found enjoyable to think about.

He settled restlessly over the shuttle's makeshift workstation near the engine bay: a table magnetized to the ground, fitted with cubbies which served as a hyper streamlined form of drawers. There were still knick-knacks and diagrams and charts strewn about the table's surface, which was potentially hazardous given the risks of 'space' travel. But he hadn't died from them yet, then that was fine. Flipping through the notes without an ostensible motive (busy work, something to distract his eyes), he... endeavored... to ask, "Would you have flown to see more of the galaxy? After Jakku."

Rey let her nose wrinkle a little fondly for a moment. She thought that retirement meant not working, not continuing to work. However, she said nothing on that line of thought and kept it to herself. Expanding the base sounded interesting. Rey had only been vaguely aware of the base and what was happening around it. There always seemed to be something happening in Pandora Town, it made it hard to keep up. She'd have to keep an eye out for what happened with the base; perhaps she and Ben could pay it a visit one day.

She watched him while he had busied himself and stood by almost like a spare part. While she did she observed the ship; trained eyes could see what she might be able to take apart and sell off for scrap. The mechanics seemed in good nick- Unkar would have paid well for these parts.

Rey was drawn back to Anakin with his question; it was something she'd thought of before. Now she knew the truth about her parents it made it much easier to answer. "I would like to see more of the universe." Rey said, leaning up against the side of the ship, "I went to Takodana and Ahch-To after Jakku; they were both beautiful planets." Takodana had been the first place she'd ever seen green in so much abundance though she hadn't been able to appreciate it much at the time. Ahch-To had amazed her with the amount of water, but that too had fallen by the wayside in favour of her mission at the time. It might be nice to travel the universe without other things getting in the way. "Did you travel much?" Rey asked, hazel eyes moving to his face. She was sure he must have seen much more of the universe than she had.

"After Tatooine, the first planets I visited were Coruscant and Naboo. One is a city of spires wrapped across the entire surface. The other is pastoral, with one civilization on land and the other beneath the sea." He wasn't certain if he needed to explain Coruscant, the once capital of the Galactic Republic and later Empire, but it seemed like there was a considerable amount of common knowledge Rey had no awareness of. And... that was fine. What did that common knowledge matter here, or anywhere?

His gaze grew distant as he stared at a half-eviscerated widget but also nothing at all. "After seeing enough of planets like those, and others still, their beauty tends to grow redundant. Their flaws more obvious."

But Alderaan's flaws probably didn't justify the whole world being blown from its orbit. No, he supposed not, and now it was a world, a beautiful world, she would never see in her time.

The talk of planets from back home captivated her. As a little girl she had spent a lot of time at the Niima Outpost clinging to stories told by scrap dealers about planets far away. They'd rarely spoken about things she wanted to hear about, like the picture Anakin was painting for her now; they'd usually categorised different planets in terms of how much they could steal or raid from them. They weren't the happiest of memories, but they were her memories nonetheless.

When he mentioned about seeing the flaws, she wrinkled her nose, "I'm glad I've not reached that point yet." Rey said with a little humour about her words. She still saw beauty in every flower or open meadow she saw. Some of it still seemed miraculous to her; she hoped that never changed. "I think I'd find it difficult to not see the beauty in the planet and the life I have here, no matter how long I was here or how much I saw." Rey was thoughtful as she chose her words, but she was certain in what she said- she'd grown up alone in the middle of a desert. In comparison this place was beyond her wildest dreams and imagination and she took every day with as much enthusiasm as she could.

"That's what I once thought," he said, dispassionate, neither warm nor cruel. He couldn't remember how to go about emulating the former without sounding insincere, and he'd been attempting to move away from the latter. So, the vague in-between it was.

Though come to think of it, even as war dragged his spirit down, he never fully lost his love for the universe beyond Tatooine because of it. It had been resilient, turning into ashes only when his love for everything else had.

His lips pressed into a thin line. Barring the unexpected tragedy, Rey would probably be fine. "It's just as well. You might not become jaded for a while longer yet, if ever."

Rey considered Anakin for those moments, wondering if there could ever be a point where she would too look at greenery and not be excited by it. When she was at home, she spent more time out in their garden than anything else; she couldn't cook or anything near it, but she could water plants and enjoyed just sitting amongst the peace of it. She had thrown herself into gardening and while she wasn't the best at it, she liked seeing the flowers in bloom around her.

"Perhaps not." She said thoughtfully, taking that with a smile. She didn't want to reach that point and was sure that in part it was up to her own attitude. Rey then let her attention wander to the little room around her for the time being, just observing the wiring and trying to get the scavenger part of her mind to switch off. Despite it, she still knew how much around her would be worth in scrap. It wasn't something she felt altogether proud of.

Wrapping her arms around her middle, she moved onto something different, "Did Ben tell you we moved out of Blackhaven?" She asked, wondering how much he had mentioned to his grandfather; at their meal they had only been in the process of moving after all.

"We don't discuss our private lives much." The news didn't seem to strike him as a massive surprise regardless of what he said. Some things didn't need to be spoken to be understood-- the relationship between Kylo Ben and Rey certainly seemed to be ... progressing.

He paused to consider her, again, blue eyes traveling to her face with a blink. "How did it happen? Falling in love?"

... he really didn't beat around the bush, once he had a nagging thought in mind.

Rey wasn't surprised that Ben hadn't mentioned it. She had only glimpsed at the relationship between Ben and his grandfather and didn't pretend to understand it. She barely knew how families were supposed to function; until she'd met Ben, all she'd had were her dreams. They were a little family unit now though, that was what she liked to think.

The question made Rey still for a moment, her lips parted like she was going to answer immediately but she stopped herself, realising she had no idea how to answer the question. Rey had never been able to pinpoint the moment herself, it had happened as naturally as breathing.

"I think it snuck up on us, or at least that was what happened to me. Once we stopped arguing and actually started talking and living together it just happened." She paused, a small smile creeping over her face, "Took us getting snowed in a ship out in the woods for either of us to acknowledge it though." That was a memory she replayed fondly, the night where they had realised just how much they both meant to each other.

An odd look unfolded across his face as he watched the movement in hers. She made it sound laughably simple. Effortless, as if those arguments they spoke of were nothing more complicated than whose turn it was to empty out the receptacles. "You were willing to move on from his past? Forgive what he had done?"
