A few weeks ago, if you had told Kylo Ren he'd be trapped in a strange world, walking into a town with Rey leading the way, he might have stabbed you.

If you told him what happened next, he'd have stabbed himself.

They were heading towards the market to get food and general supplies. Horizon definitely beat the crowded streets of Pandora Town, but the day was pleasant enough and had drawn others out. "Think you could afford another blanket?" He called ahead, but narrowed his eyes when Rey stopped abruptly, staring ahead.

He followed her gaze, and the immediately strode to the side of the path, out of view. "I'm leaving," was all he had to grumble.

Rey had not been to the Horizon market in a few days. She had a little coin from some jobs she had been doing, but she had no idea what it would afford her in the market. Really, she needed some new clothes, some goggles for the desert so she could go scavenging when money was tight. That along with food and general supplies left her with little option for any sort of luxuries. "We could build the fire up a little more, if you're cold at night." She suggested, looking and running her fingers over the few coins in her hand. That wasn't going to stretch to another blanket anytime soon.

She eyed some of the stalls curiously. They were full of fruits and food she'd never heard of before, though most of it was quite beyond what she could afford for them. She wondered if there were other ways of getting work, something more profitable but something she could manage. There didn't seem to be all that many opportunities out in Horizon.

As she walked, her eyes scanned over the stalls and the crowd. There were some vaguely familiar faces around, but nothing caught her eye really until she saw him, Han Solo, across the markets. She took a couple of steps away from Ben, to focus her own vision and to get a grasp on reality. She only realised how long she must have been staring when Ben walked off. She bolted towards him, "Ben- Ben." Rey said, catching up with him, "You should talk to him."

He did pause, but only to look over his shoulder and shoot a glare at her. "Nothing good would come of that, and you know it. Come on, let's go. It was a mistake coming here at all." And he began walking away again.

Rey shook her head, "No, we don't know it. That's just what you're assuming." She was trying to look as encouraging as she could in order to bring this to a necessary conclusion. She stepped back from Ben for a moment as she checked Han was still down the street. There was no point in having this argument if he'd wandered off.

Feeling a little braver, she wrapped the crook of her arm around Ben's in an attempt to drag him from the side street towards his, albeit younger, father. Rey put all her force into trying to pull him in the direction she wanted, crooking a lopsided smile as she did. Something told Rey this was the right thing to do, it was almost like a second chance. She knew the conflict within Ben, and maybe this could be one way in which to settle it.

It didn't even have to be a long conversation! Just something. Rey was sure he wouldn't regret it.

Kylo was caught by surprise when she caught his arm and tugged. The girl was stronger than she looked, even managing to make him stumble a few steps towards the man... who himself was coming closer.

"Rey, no," he hissed under his breath, but his eyes met his father's. They'd met a couple of days ago, when Han had caught Kylo staring from across the street. It seemed a rather similar situation was about to unfold... but with Rey as their mediator, it was bound to be worse.

Rey was suprised when she actually managed to make Ben move, or more stumble, a few paces. She hadn't expected him to move at all. She stopped tugging as he spoke, but didn't remove her arm from the crook of his for a few moments as she stared up at him. Rey was determined that this was going to be a good thing for all of them. He was getting a second chance with a father who had cared about him. Rey knew she would never get that opportunity.

"Please, just a few minutes." It was starting to become a point of principle for Rey that she couldn't back down over the issue. She had never been good at stepping back and thinking about the wider picture. She glanced round to see where Han was, sure that he had to be closer by now. They had been dithering about in the alley for a few moments after all. Rey looked up at Ben softly, "Please." She knew what he was running from, or at least she thought she did.
