    April 19th, Year 108
    River Town, Pandopolis City, Pandopolis

Cobblestone was, unsurprisingly, not a soft surface to land on when one was falling about a meter out of thin air.
"Ow-!" Shuichi yelped on impact, wincing, and snapping his head up to the disappearing black vines overhead. Something had grabbed him from the ruins of the Academy, wrapped around his ankle and dragged him backwards and down into a darkness so thick he couldn't breathe for a few terrifying seconds. Then the vines had spit him out rather ungracefully onto a busy street... And his arrival was already attracting attention.
His hand went up, almost automatically, reaching for the hat brim that he realized wasn't there after a moment. The people coming over helped him up and brushed him off, asking for a name, or if he needed help, but it was all becoming somewhat blurry, so he simply nodded or shook his head in response, trying to quell the anxious fluttering of his heart. The people gave him the address to a shelter, and he thanked them profusely and went on his way there.

... This clearly wasn't the Academy. Was it the outside world? The world beyond the dome? But... Then people wouldn't be asking his name. They would know him, from the screens and the cursed game he'd just finished playing. Had he been transported into yet another Killing Game? Or the waiting area for one? Was this how Amami-kun felt..? His mind was racing a mile a minute, trying to absorb as much as he could before something -- anything -- went awry. The more he knew about his surroundings, the better, and if he could find a quick way back to Harukawa-san and Yumeno-san that would be ideal...

The streets were confusing. He hesitated in the middle of the crowd and found his breath still coming short and fast, the beginnings of an ache forming in his chest. They were symptoms he'd had before, getting overwhelmed, but it... Had to be the sheer volume of people here. The noise and the movement and the... Everything, It was just...
He ducked into an alleyway, sucking in a deep breath, hands clasped to his chest as he tried to calm his racing heart.
"Stay calm..." He murmured softly, if for nothing, for his own benefit, just to have something to do, something to control. "Just stay calm..."

Abigail was out for a walk with Abbie, a dog. She wasn't entirely certain Abbie was her dog. Abbie's first owner, Will, had raised and trained her. Now that he was back in Pandora, she supposed he has much claim to Abbie as Abigail did. He would never take the dog away from her and Abigail was spending more and more time at his home. It seemed Abbie belonged to both of them now, along with Winston.

Abigail thought that it was just as likely that they belonged to the dogs. She knew Will would do anything for them. It was starting to feel like he'd do anything for her too. She'd been testing him and he hadn't let her down since his return to Pandora. It might be time to move in with him permanently and see him as a father figure again.

Abigail was pulled out of her thoughts by a tug on the leash. She looked down to see Abbie heading towards an alley. "Hey, come back girl, c'mon." She encouraged and whistled. When that failed, Abigail followed her lead into the alleyway to see what had caught the dog's attention.

Abbie sat down directly in front of a stranger and whined. Abigail knew that whine. When Abigail woke up terrified from a nightmare, or when she was experiencing an attack of anxiety, Abbie would sit by her and whine. If that failed, Abbie would nudge and lick her until she calmed. Apparently, Abbie had decided that this stranger was need of the same support. Abigail knew she had to act quickly, before the dog decided to move onto the next step.

Abigail quickly moved closer to Abbie. "Come here." She called and as soon as the dog returned to her side, Abigail commanded her to "Sit." and "Stay."

With Abbie under control, Abigail looked at the stranger. "Sorry about that. She doesn't usually approach strangers." Abigail knew something had to have caused Abbie to have that reaction. "Are you alright?"

He heard the jingle of dog tags, and tried desperately to exit his panic long enough to actually breathe. It didn't work well, and now he was faced with a random stranger and her very concerned dog. His first interaction in a world that he didn't understand the first thing about...
Focus on facts, Shuichi. What do you know for certain, what can you be certain of? What can you rely on, that hasn't failed you yet here?
Well... Gravity, for one, breathable air, this world apparently had dogs, which could not be said of the Killing Games... Apparently had very nice, anxiety-triggered dogs, if what this young woman was saying was true. He felt a strange twinge of alienation when he looked at her. Was this world better or worse than the one he had just left?

"..." She had asked him a question. Was he alright? The answer was a resounding No, but he needed to rephrase it. Worrying this complete stranger would be embarrassing, and it was likely she had no idea what he had just come from. He bit his lip and tugged nervously on his sleeves. "I... I think I... I am very, very confused. A-And disoriented. Where am I? What is this place? Who are you?" The questions tumbled like water, nervous and hyper. He needed information, it was the only way to calm his racing paranoia.

The man's emotional state and the reason for it were now very clear to Abigail. She gave Abbie a gentle pet. The dog had done a good job. Newcomers should not be left alone, especially now that she was trying to be a good person. "You're in a city called Pandopolis in a place called Pandora." She knew that would no doubt raise more questions and she began to mentally prepare herself to answer them. It would be difficult. She had enough trouble trying to understand it herself and she'd been there a long time. Nothing on her home world could have prepared her for it. "You're not in any danger. I know that's hard to believe, given the circumstances. But you are safe." At least he was safe-ish in that moment. There were the usual threats in Pandora, as well as the extraordinary ones. She was aware enough not to attract muggers or other trouble. Hopefully, she could convince this man to go to a shelter or other safe place, once his questions were answered.

"My name is Abigail." She answered. "I was brought here by black cords and I've been in this world ever since. I'm guessing cords brought you here too. What's your name?"

Pandopolis, Pandora...? He struggled to wrap his mind around the suggestion. A city. An entire city. Killing Games couldn't happen in cities... Right? The scope was too large... The air kind of wheezed out of him in a slow, soft way that betrayed relief. Oh God. He just needed like... A hot moment to take that in as the gears in his head spun. She even reassured him he wasn't in any danger, which he wouldn't believe quite yet, but... It's okay... He'd be okay.

"Shuichi... Shuichi Saihara, I... Thank you."

Abigail observed him carefully, noting his anxiety decreasing instead of increasing at the idea that he was in an entirely new place. Perhaps his home world was a nightmare for him too, as hers had been. Abbie seemed to be watching just as closely and wagged her tail when he calmed.

"How do you feel?" Abigail asked gently, wanting to make sure he would stay calm.
