    November 10th. Late Afternoon
Nico found himself alone in the mansion he shared with his family. He had guessed most were out doing whatever, that left him time to relax. He had just gotten home from work, he usually worked breakfast and early lunch shift. Kicking his shoes off he went to his room to change into something more comfortable than his work clothes. He figured a tee-shirt and some sweat pants would suffice.

He found himself having more time to himself than he would like. It made him antsy, doing pretty much nothing through the day. Sure there was TV and he was just now enjoying the fact that he could watch anything. Before he came to Pandora he was non stop on the go. Wars, godly issues, fathers orders, he never had any downtime like this. Honestly he didn't know what do about it.

He rubbed his face and made his way to the kitchen to make something to drink. When he heard a knock on the door. Who was that? He set his cup down and made his way to the door. His lips set into a thin line, hand wrapped around his ring just in case. He opened the door to find out who exactly this was.

Going to a new place was always a little nerve-wracking for Futaba, even if she was much braver than she had been before coming here and it was just one of her friend's homes. The difference between before and now was that she did try to go, swallowing down that anxiety to make the effort and keep her word. She'd promised Will that she'd get his notes back to him so he could do his studying and that was just what she was going to do! Even if she was nervous about the fact it was a god's house, and that it was full of people she hadn't met yet. Probably should have asked Leo or Felix to come with me, at least then I'd know TWO people there..

But Leo was busy too, building ships and doing what Leo things needed to, so she swallowed it down and went to the cabin. She probably could have given them to him at school but it might be too late then. See, she'd thought that someone with a mind for details like Will would have easy notes. But noooo, he wrote like he was a chicken who has just gained sentience- and that was not an overestimation. His handwriting was terrible. Whether he did this to write in code or it was just an unhappy accident she didn't know but either way she needed the writer himself or someone who could read that mess to translate it.

So here she was standing in front of the door, notebook balanced in one arm and against her side as she knocked. Shifting from foot to foot she fought down the momentary anxiety she always felt standing at unfamiliar doors. What if she wasn't supposed to be here? What if whoever answered didn't like her on first sight and got mad? What if they glared, or worse, yelled? She could feel her shoulders tensing..

But then it was answered, and even if the face was unfamiliar they didn't look angry- just confused. For a long moment she stared through her glasses, blinking, then snapped out of it. "Yo, is Will home?" she asked in a rush, compressing every word into one breath, tone a bit squeaky.

It was a girl? He blinked and visibly eased at the sight. He didn't sense any danger at her appearance. She was no threat. Though who was she and what did she want. Was she selling something? He honestly didn't care. Though his interest peaked when she mentioned Will. Ahh, one of Will's friends. "He's not here right now, you can come in and wait for him if you want?" he was unsure of the words he was speaking.

He left the door open and entered the foyer. He made his way into the living area and stood near the sofa."I was just about to make something to eat, do you want anything?" he offered. He could have hospitality if he wanted to.

He noticed the paper notebooks in her hand and realized. She was probably one of Will's school friends. He was actually hoping to enroll in that school, though he wasn't sure if he'd have time between his job and basic living.

She had meant a couple of the other demigods in passing, and Will had told her about a few others, but she didn't really know any of them except Will and Leo. This guy was pretty stoic, and a little quiet, but she could respect that, in a way- when people showed up at her home she was like that too, especially if she didn't know them. At least he didn't shut the door in her face or yell, which was really nice of him.

Considering how badly she'd envisioned it going in the worst case part of her mind his offer to come in left her with an expression of open shock and she blinked behind her glasses. An open door, an invitation into a house full of religiously oriented peoples- what was it like? Curiosity helped with the anxiety and she stepped tentatively over the threshold, peeking here and there. Once inside she took a step or two from the door before realizing she should probably close it, then turned around and did so before hurrying her steps to follow after the boy again.

Snacks?! Ooh! Her head whipped back toward Nico again as he asked ever so politely if she wanted anything and for a moment she almost nodded, lifting her chin- but then hesitated, wondering if she was being rude. "Dunno, don't want to make you do any extra work," she replied instead, cocking her head and shifting the books in her arms. Oh, wait, weren't introductions a thing? Right! "I'm Futaba."

A small smile appeared on lips. She looked like she was about to nod at his offer. He could respect the hesitation. If he was in a strangers house was offered food, he'd be hesitant too. "Nah..." he stretched out that word. "It's fine. All I was going to do was get some chips and left over dip someone made." he shrugged. "We can share." he said and made his way into the adjoining kitchen.

"So, you're a friend of Will's from school?" he asked. Nico knew he had friends from school. He never really talked about them though. His boyfriend was always so busy lately, they hardly ever got to talk. It was kinda depressing Nico. He felt kinda like he wasn't good enough. Nico knew something was bothering Will and he never talked about it. But, who was Nico to talk, he wasn't exactly open either.

He came out with a rather large bowl of corn chips, with a side of Queso dip. He sat down on the couch and placed his gathered snack onto the coffee table.

That was a nice offer. In all honesty Futaba was generally a little hungry, especially after a long walk, but asking strangers for things was the hardest part about living here. Back home she could ask Sojiro, or cajole, or wheedle, and Akira and her other friends were the same way- and her friends here too. It was different, when you knew that they weren't going to yell or fuss or think the worst about you for being yourself. This guy- well, she doubted Will would be around too many terrible people, but everyone had one friend that surprised them, right? Look at how they'd almost been willing to accept Akechi!

But he went with it, and was nice enough to entirely ignore the fact she was faking otherwise, and she couldn't help but smile to herself a little as he went about gathering things. She kept standing, not quite ready to sit down yet until he came back into the living room, just in case there was some kind of trick to this she didn't know about. When he did though she carefully set the books she'd brought back onto the other end of the coffee table, then wiped her hands against her jeans before sitting down on the far side of the couch as well. At least she managed not to bring her knees up against her chest; that would mean putting shoes on the furniture, which was definitely a no-no in polite houses.

"Yeppers. We have a few classes together, which is why I was borrowing his notes. Or trying to," she answered Nico with an attempt at a sly smile that still had a shy, nervous edge underneath it. "Can't read his handwriting, so thought I'd ask him what it said. Then I can write it down and it'll make real sense."

Nico placed his shoes underneath the chair. Honestly this house was filled with teens, they were exactly prim and proper. He moved his feet up into the chair and crossed them. Every so often he would nibble on a chip. Will told him he had to eat more, but he hardly could ever eat many things too fast. His years of hardly eating were still affecting him.

He perked up when she mentioned she was a classmate of Will's. "I think he's mentioned you before." he gave a small easy smile. So she couldn't read Will's hand writing, he had a little experience with that. "I'm pretty well at translating Solace's handwriting." he chuckled. "I can help you decipher the doctor scribble." he joked. He peered over to the paper in her hand. All the times he'd been given doctors orders on a paper came in handy now. It was also, learn fast what the paper says or face a lecture from a very mother hen Son of Apollo.

Will had mentioned her? A look of shock half-mingled with curious confusion crossed her face. Was that a- good thing? What had he said? For a moment the familiar old anxiety rose up like a lump in Futaba's throat, her natural first assumption being that it was something bad after all. She was weird, and quiet, and people thought she was crazy and weak, didn't they? No, that was self-defeating. Will was nice, he probably said good stuff even if it wasn't always completely true, and she breathed out the worry in a small sigh. Besides, if it had been bad, would Nico really be so willing to let her in?

Even better, he seemed to understand completely about Will's weird handwriting. "Ooh, really?" she asked eagerly, leaning forward and reaching for one of the notebooks that Will had given her to study from and handing it to Nico with a gleam of intense curiosity in her eyes. Anyone who could read this and get her studying back on track was a blessing, especially if it meant that she didn't have to admit this failure to Will herself. "It's hard enough reading English anyway, and then he has to make his all wobbly and loopy."

Nico gratefully took the notebook and scanned the handwriting. It was strange how he could decipher this loopy handwriting. His dyslexia made it hard, but with reading and practice he was able to handle it quite well in his opinion. Squinting he shook his head as the words blurred. Some of it made sense, it was a lot of notes on healing and a few pages on fighting.

"Is English not your first language?" he asked trying to make conversation. He picked up his notebook from the lounge table and started copying the notes down in his handwriting. Which was neat and easier to read. Some words were misspelled, but that was due to him never having a proper English course under his belt.

Once he finished the page on healing he moved to the page on fighting. Most of the fighting he recognized from his training. Why did Will need a class on fighting? Wasn't bow and arrow considered fighting enough? He placed his pen down and handed Futaba the notebooks. "I hope my handwriting is a little more readable." he spoke with a little mirth.
