Rose stood on the other side of The TARDIS console, watching The Doctor deep in concentration as he pressed and pulled random levers and buttons, holding on tight as she prepared herself for lift off. It was very strange being here again, and yet at the same time, it was like she'd never been away. Rose had walked back into the TARDIS as though it was where she'd always meant to be. She'd felt at home the moment she'd walked back inside. She'd said hello to the old girl, lightly touching her interior as The TARDIS let out a low hum in response. She looked very different to how Rose had remembered her. The Doctor had redecorated, maybe countless times since she'd last set foot inside. She wondered if he still kept her old room, or if The TARDIS had simply deleted it or hidden it away into an archive, along with his other past companions.

But unlike before, there was an uneasiness. She was still trying to come to terms with the fact that he had lied to her, and that it was really The Doctor stood in front of her, even when he was flying The TARDIS. Her hazel eyes studied him, allowing the fact that he was too absorbed in getting them to their destination to notice Rose. She wasn't sure what to expect, but she was touched that he'd made all this effort to make it up to her. Despite everything, Rose had understood why he'd done what he had.

There was no time to dwell, for in the next moment they were off and Rose felt her stomach lurch as they hurled through space and time. It felt like being on some very bizarre rollercoaster and she let out an excited squeal, forgetting her inhibitions. The journey didn't last long, and before Rose knew it she was flat on her back, laughing hysterically as she landed beside The Doctor.

    Some things never changed.

"Your flying hasn't improved I see," she teased, pulling herself to her feet. For a moment, she'd completely forgotten that she was still mad at him. Rose brushed herself down and looked to the door. Her heart began to pound. She looked to The Doctor, the adrenaline being to wane as reality set in. Her smile faded a little but she couldn't hide the excitement from her eyes. "Where are we?"

The Doctor had been racking his brain to try to think up how he could make this better for Rose. He had made a mistake and he didn't want it to sting. So, he'd invited her along for a day out, an adventure of sorts where they weren't going to get shot at. That was always how intended things to work out when they'd been on outings before, but this time he was determined not to let anything happen to her.

Having punched the co-ordinates into the TARDIS console, whilst listening to the familiar hum the console made at Rose's presence, he gave her a wicked sort of grin. The TARDIS had become more difficult to navigate in Pandora and he was trying to make this incredibly precise; the last thing he wanted to do was upset her timeline or mess around with any plans she might have for the rest of the week. This was just something he wanted to do for her now. As he pushed buttons and navigated towards the desination, he found the TARDIS putting up a little more resistance than she usually would. Then he realised he'd left the handbrake on in his hurry to take off. When he took it off, he sent them both spiralling to the floor in a heap. Rose's laugh coaxed one out of himself and he quickly brushed himself down; springing up to his feet.

The Doctor smiled as he leaned over the control panel of the TARDIS to look Rose straight in the eye. His lips curled upwards and there was a playful look about him, "Go and look." He didn't want to tell her; they were. hopefully, in an area of Horizon with a lovely lagoon where there was lush grassland. He had been here once before to look at some of the heritage of the site, given it's location. The Doctor pulled a lever and the doors to the TARDIS swung open; heat and light flooding the pair.

The Doctor's laugh was different, as was his face, as was his voice. But he was still so... Doctor. Everything about him was exactly how she remembered. He hadn't changed, not at his core. Just like before, he seemed just as excited as Rose at the prospect of showing her somewhere new. He leaned across the console, a wicked gleam in his eye as he urged her to find out. Rose couldn't help it. She felt like a kid at Christmas being told she could open the presents.

She gave a start as the TARDIS doors suddenly flung open, letting in sunshine and heat. Rose let the light bathe on her skin, walking dreamlike toward the exit. She breathed in the sudden scents -- nature. She could smell nature. There in front of them was the most beautiful lagoon Rose had ever seen and she let out a gasp, looking up at the top of the waterfall and watching the way the water fell down the rocks and into the pool below. Birds were tweeting nearby, and Rose wondered what other wildlife were amidst the lush greenery.

"Oh, Doctor," she breathed, mouth falling open. "It's... It's..." She struggled to find the right words. "I need to go change!" The sudden realisation that she'd dressed for Winter, not Summer, had occurred to Rose and she ran back inside, but not before she stopped, gently placing a hand on the Doctor's arm and beaming up into his face. "Wardrobe still past the bins?" She asked, already thinking up five different outfits. Maybe one with a swimming costume? That water looked good enough to jump in, and while it was only Spring, the weather was warm enough for Rose to already wish for a sundress and a pair of sunnies.

The Doctor laughed at her reaction as he stepped up behind her and towards the door. The heat radiating in at them was accompanied with that smell that only found itself in the enduring heat of the Horizon desert for the Doctor. This was the lovely bit of the desert for him, and one of the nicest areas he had come across in Pandora at all. It was always better for him to travel with someone in these kinds of places; he had a tendency to think about the different places he'd been which were similar to those he was in at the moment, or consider issues with the geographical locations or the ecosystem. However, Rose always had a way of opening his eyes to the beauty around him.

"Yes, yes, it's still in the same place." The Doctor said with a turn of his hand. The only thing he needed was his sunglasses; the Doctor rarely dressed for the occasion, but his body didn't react to weather climates in the same way in which humans did. While Rose was getting ready, he decided to take stock of the surroundings and set the TARDIS off collecting some data on the surrounding area. The main objective was to apologise to Rose, but he also did need some data on this side of Pandora.

Rose turned on her heel the moment The Doctor had gestured toward the hall. She felt like a kid, skidding round the corners and running down the corridors. It was surprising how well she remembered. Rose ran almost automatically, like no time had past and she barely had to think about it at all. Now and again she couldn't help but pause at the odd room and see if it'd changed. The TARDIS had a habit of mixing things up, but maybe she was being kind and laying out her rooms as Rose remembered them.

Rose wasn't sure how long she spent in that wardrobe. Truth be told, she could easily have stayed in there all day. It was like walking into the world's biggest clothes shop, except everything was free and you had the place to yourself. Cuts, colours, labels. There was a bit of everything. She didn't want to waste too much time, but there were so many outfits to choose from and she wanted to get this right. It almost felt like a date, like they were getting to know each other all over again. She stood in front of the mirror, turning this way and that before finally deciding on a red, flowery summer dress with sandals. She'd put a swimming costume on underneath, and a shawl to cover her shoulders, just in case.

"Okay, I'm ready!" She called a few minutes later, a little pink from all the changing. Rose looked up to find The Doctor exactly as she'd left him. "... You gonna be alright in that?" She inquired, nodding to his suit and rather large jacket. Rose stood to the side, a little awkward. She wasn't quite sure what to do with herself, or how to act around him. Rose eyed him warily before edging toward the door. "Wow."

Rose stood a little outside The TARDIS, her gaze back on the magnificent waterfall and luxurious greenery. The heat had hit her like an oven again, but this time there was cool breeze behind her neck and around her legs. She'd put her hair up into a messy ponytail and was glad she had, but pulled her shawl up on to her shoulder, feeling oddly self-conscious.

The Doctor had kept himself busy while she'd been gone, collecting climate data on the place. She didn't have to know that of course and when she returned to the console room he stepped away from it and smiled at her. She'd picked out a different dress, and even he had to admit that it suited her, "You look different." He said in such a happy way that he hoped it would be a compliment. As to her comment he pointed to his eyes which now held his sunglasses as he shook his head. Honestly, what else did she want from him?

The Doctor came up behind Rose as she went to the door. He was watching her carefully, seeing how she reacted to the change in his demeanour and appearance. He had gone through a similar thing with Clara when he had regenerated. She couldn't see him just yet, but he hoped she would. He wanted her to, and that was partly what today was about. With his hands in his pockets he gestured to the outside world. They hadn't come all this way for her to stand gawping at her surroundings from the comfort of the TARDIS now had they?

"This place is called Horizon." He said, opening up the other TARDIS door and strode outside with an air of knowing about him. The heat hit him but did little else. His body reacted differently than humans. "A little community which broke off from Pandora Town a few years ago; some of the founding members still live here, I believe." He occasionally found his gaze wandering back to Rose, hoping to put her at ease around him, show her that he was still the same Doctor she'd travelled with.

"I think that's a compliment," she'd chuckled, picking up on The Doctor's smile. He stepped away from whatever he was doing and pointed to his glasses like it were obvious. "Ah," Rose said, feigning idiocy. "How did I miss them?!"

She felt rather than heard The Doctor as he came up behind her, her gaze still on the beautiful lagoon. He gestured silently, beckoning her forward and Rose did as he asked, stepping away from The TARDIS and entering their surroundings more fully. She turned on the spot, listening to The Doctor's report of their location as he strode about in that way he always did. A fountain of knowledge! Rose wondered if he were making an extra effort just for her, showing off to prove he was still the same man.

They'd been through this before of course, and Rose knew what to expect this time round. But it still made the transition a little odd. A human error, she supposed. Associating looks to a person was so... Human. Shallow, almost. She sometimes wondered what The Doctor saw in them as a species, with a brain and outlook as he had, they were still so small. And yet, he loved them. Despite their misgivings and failings, he'd saved the human race more times than Rose could count.

"Why did they leave Pandora Town?" She inquired, looking over to find The Doctor's gaze still on her. They were normally so comfortable around each other, it was a little odd to feel so nervous. She realised that part of that was her own fault, and her uncertainty was making him unsure in turn. She tried her best to thrust whatever doubts she had out of her mind and took a few paces toward the lagoon instead.

"Can we swim in that?" She added, wanting nothing more than to cool down. The weather was surprisingly stifling for this time of year and Rose placed a hand over her forehead to shade her eyes from the sun. She instinctively went to The Doctor, about to grab his hand and pull him forward, but she wasn't sure he'd let her. "C'mon on then, shades boy," she chuckled, eyeing his sunglasses. "Let's take a closer look."

The Doctor liked the sun beaming down above them, or was it even the sun, or another star? The Doctor had never stopped to think to ask anyone. They called it the sun as easily as one might blink, but this was another universe altogether from the earth climate and there was more than one star capable of emitting that much light and heat to sustain a civilisation like the one he found himself trapped upon.

He turned to Rose when she asked him the question. Fortunately he had some kind of answer, "A group I believe didn't fit in with Pandora Town." He paused, "I don't think any malice or fighting was involved- perhaps they came from worlds more similar to this one than the hustle and bustle of Pandora Town." The Doctor reasoned out loud. There did seem to be different types of people drawn to the different towns from his limited experience, and he supposed it was driven by what they were used to and what they knew. It was easier to adapt that way. "It was about the same time the other towns were founded." He then informed her, wondering what she knew about Pandora's history.

He squinted a little at the glistening waters she seemed transfixed upon. "I believe so- it's just average H2O water, and nothing else." He shrugged his shoulders- he certainly would not be swimming anytime soon, but he would not stop her. This was her day after all and he had no intention of taking anything away from her enjoyment as long as it didn't involve him soaking what was an excellent suit. He did, however, let her tug him forwards without any protest and gave her a short smile, letting her guide the way.

Rose listened attentively as The Doctor began to explain Horizon's humble beginnings. They walked slow, taking their time to absorb every nook and cranny. Rose didn't mind. It was a pleasant change from all the running around they used to do. They hadn't done that in a long time now. A cheeky thought entered Rose's head that asked The Doctor if he would still be able to run in that body without breaking a hip, but Rose refrained from saying it aloud. She smiled to herself and made a mental note to save that tease for later on. No doubt there'd be plenty of time to discuss his new body. Luckily, he'd smiled as she'd encouraged him along, and Rose looked sideways up at him, watching him behold the sun with great interest.

They'd reached the lagoon. Rose had a feeling The Doctor would not join her for a swim and so turned her attention to the small civilization up ahead instead. She squinted, trying to make out the small array of tables and chairs and the various shops that accompanied it. There wasn't much, but there was more than Rose had expected, which would do perfectly for a bite to eat. "What do you say to a picnic?" She asked him, feeling lighthearted all of a sudden. "We could grab some food, get a drink or two and you can relax while I go for a swim? What d'ya say?"

Rose smiled, knowing that he was doing this for her and no matter what she said, he'd agree to it. Still, she hoped he liked the idea and wanted The Doctor to enjoy himself as well. Deep down, Rose didn't care where they were as long as they were together. It wouldn't be long before they were back in The TARDIS and flying back to Pandora Town. It had been relatively easy between them so far and Rose hoped it'd remain that way.

The Doctor wrinkled his nose at the heat. It permeated through his thoughts and he pushed onto the side of his sunglasses so they would actually act as sunglasses, rather than scanning the area for interesting lifeforms or any sort of trouble. He figured given the fact he had avoided permanently losing his sight, he shouldn’t chance it with this kind of sun blaring down upon them. He looked across at Rose with her suggestions. The Doctor was always happy to go along with her suggestions as she knew how to do things like this much better than she did. She reminded him to do normal things, like eat or look at a particular view.

This was why he knew he travelled so much with humans, they made him look beyond what he could actually see and made him think and take in the surroundings. Had he come here by himself then he would probably have already left by now, feeling like he had seen all that there was to see. However, with Rose he could see that the features of this place were unlocking in front of his eyes and that there were other things to appreciate.

“Sounds good to me.” His nose took him in the direction of what looked like some kind of market, and he gestured to it with the side of his head, looking at Rose to see whether she thought it was a good idea too. It would certainly solve the issue of hunger, and like he had already resolved, there was no way he would be partaking in a swim. It was just not him.

The Doctor looked appreciatively over at Rose, pushing the miniscule buttons on the side of his sunglasses. She wondered what he was looking at through those lenses, but she paid them no mind, following his gesture toward the market stall instead.

It hadn't taken long to pick what they Rose wanted. She'd always been very fond of her food, and Rose followed her cravings as she picked up this and that, adding it to their basket. It was also a welcome break from the sun that shone high above them, no clouds in sight. Rose wiped her forehead with the back of her hand, looking more and more forward to jumping in that lagoon by the minute.

That is, if that hadn't been such a baby.

    ***

"You'd tell me if there were sharks in here, yeah?" She'd asked half an hour later, toes peeking over the edge of the lagoon. Rose could see straight down into the clear blue water, and while it appeared calm and tranquil, it hadn't looked quite so deep from a distance. She'd lathered herself up with sun cream the moment she'd got out of her dress, and her blonde hair was now pulled back into a tighter bun as she prepared for a swim. Crouching down, Rose swung her legs over the side and let the water go up to her knees.

It wasn't as cold as she'd expected, and it soothed her nerves as she geared herself up to take a dip. "Okay, here we go." Very slowly, Rose edged forward, finally lowering herself into the lagoon with a splash. Rose let out a gasp as she dipped under the cold water, reappearing seconds later and rubbing her eyes. "You sure you don't want to join?" She grinned, already knowing the answer to this question. She swam over to where The Doctor lay and rested her elbows on the edge of the lagoon. "I'll tie your hair back for you." She eyed his greying locks with a teasing look and giggled at the thought of The Doctor with a man bun.

The market had been quite interesting. It had grabbed his attention and that was what the Doctor needed in these types of situations. He was missing the fact that usually he was able to verbally illustrate the event to his companions. He had been reading up on Pandora but he found that things moved and changed so quickly that the books didn't keep up with them. The Doctor of course had let Rose pick what she wanted, being quite indifferent to food and drink in general. He had his favourites, but it was all fuel to him- he knew that Rose would get much more out of this than he would.

When they got to the lagoon, the Doctor was still scanning with his sunglasses for signs of unusual lifeforms but was being incredibly disappointed. He supposed there would be days like this where he could find very little in reality. The Doctor scrunched up his nose when Rose mentioned going into the water himself. He shook his head, "Um no." He said, "It'd take me too long to empty my pockets." He didn't feel the heat or the desire to be cool in the same way that he supposed she must have done. Humans were funny creatures, but they were so endearing and that was what drew him to them so often, and especially in this case to Rose.

"Enjoying yourself?" He asked, chewing on an apple-like fruit they'd picked up at the market. It tasted sweet but the skin was a vibrant colour of purple. The Doctor enjoyed the fact it was so unusual and continued to chew, eyes drawing over the gentle waters of the lagoon.

Rose chuckled at The Doctor's obvious distaste for water. "I've never really imagined you as a swimmer anyway," she admitted, finding the whole image rather odd. He just wasn't the type. Though truth be told, that could all change depending on which face she was looking at. This one in particular, was definitely not going anywhere near the deep blue. "Ah, good point. Those pockets as deep as The TARDIS?"

Rose laughed again, pushing back from the edge and floating on her back to face the sun. She didn't go far however, allowing them to talk as though she was right next to him. She closed her eyes and enjoyed the sun hitting her face. She would have to be careful not to burn; who knew how powerful the rays here would be. Then Rose remembered who she was with. If anyone would know, it would be The Doctor. "Any idea how long I've got before I start to fry?" She asked him, eyes still closed. She could hear him crunching happily away on a piece of fruit.

She opened on eye and beamed at The Doctor. Rose hadn't expected to feel like this so quickly, so... Content. But she did. It dawned upon Rose that a lot of her anxiousness had revolved around the changes that had happened while they'd been apart. Would he still want her around? Would they still get on? Would she feel the same? Thankfully, every single answer to those questions was yes. It didn't matter what he looked like, The Doctor would always be The Doctor.

"I am," she replied, voice suddenly a lot softer. "I-" Rose stopped, wondering whether to speak her mind. "I wasn't sure if it would be the same." Rose swung back onto her front and squinted up at The Doctor. "If we'd still be... Us. But we are. Aren't we?"

It wasn't that the Doctor was not a swimmer, he just didn't see the point in it or understand the enjoyment in it. On Gallifrey as children they'd played in the vast lakes and on beaches, but years of war and travelling had stripped down his enjoyment for the simple pleasures in the universe, and left something of a hole in its wake. He felt like he got more out of seeing Rose enjoy herself here than him actually partaking in it. He shrugged and then took on her second statement instead as that was easier for him to answer, "The sun here is similar to the one you have on earth- so around the same amount of time you'd usually take to burn." He raised an eyebrow at her, "Did you not use suncream?" He didn't need to, but she should have done if they were going to stay out here for long. The Doctor didn't want her getting ill.

The Doctor had engineered this day for her, to make up his lies to her. He sought forgiveness but also a future. He wouldn't have blamed her for looking the other way, not wanting to look at him twice or even engage with him anymore. What he had done had been borne out of not wanting to get hurt again, but he should have left that decision to her. Rose meant a lot to him, and he should have trusted her with the decision rather than trying to keep it from her. It was one more trickle of a regret amongst an ocean.

"We're always us." The Doctor said, a smile pressing on lips which all too often looked annoyed. He was now making a concerted effort for her, "We always were, nothing changes." It had been centuries for him since he'd last seen Rose, but when he looked at her it felt like minutes. She had that effect.

The Doctor raised an eyebrow up at her, and Rose raised them up in reply, looking pointedly at him. "Shut up," she jested. "Of course I did." She squinted back up at the sun and tilted her head to the side. "I suppose it's just different to the one I'm used to." It was really quite odd to look up at the sun and realise it was not the one she knew, though in many respects, it was exactly the same. She looked back at The Doctor and realised there was a symmetry to that. "I better top up."

Rose hoisted herself out of the lagoon, the cold air immediately hitting her bare skin and revealing goose bumps. She tiptoed over to The Doctor and retrieved her towel, quickly wrapping it around herself. "I know I packed it somewhere..." Rose muttered to herself as she rummaged inside for her bag. "Ah ha! Gotcha!" Triumphant in her success, Rose sat down beside The Doctor and began to top up her sun cream.

The Doctor's smile was thoughtful, as though he didn't do it often. The notion made Rose sad, but she smiled back, feeling slightly relieved by his response. Just as before, she'd been worried he'd lied for a reason, and that reason was he hadn't wanted her around. Keep her at a safe distance, but remained polite. This day had proved otherwise (or at least she hoped), and Rose was touched he'd made such an effort.

"Did I tell you I met some of the girls?" She declared suddenly. "Clara and Amy?" Rose eyed him carefully, watching his reaction. She quickly gave him an approving smile. "I like them. They're uh - kinda the reason I put two and two together about you." She stretched her legs out and leant back on her hands. "As much as you try to blend in with the rest of us, you do sorta stand out."

This was a nice place to be, even he had to admit that. He had been to hundreds of thousands of planets but being in places like this with someone who could appreciate it as much as Rose did meant that he could really see what was in front of him. Sometimes he felt like he just looked at places without really seeing them. Rose made him really see what was in front of him and he appreciated her ability to be able to do that. He considered the scene in front of him again and let his shoulders roll back as she commented on the sun cream. He didn't bother with such protection, not in universes like this- his body didn't react to the sun in the same way in which humans did. He was glad she had kept herself safe.

The Doctor nodded at Rose, he had assumed she'd met the other girls. They'd inferred as much and Pandora Town wasn't that big, especially compared with the whole universe. The Doctor liked the fact they were all getting on and that they were enjoying each others company. "I'm glad you're all getting along." The Doctor had not been in the same room with all three of them yet, or even two of them at the same time.

He watched her as she spoke and smiled, though he found himself considering what he was wearing, "In my opinion it's you lot who stand out, not me." They always wore such different outfits and walked around new planets like they'd never seen anything like it before in their entire lives. They stuck out like sore thumbs but he liked them all the same for it. It wasn't hard to see that Rose looked happy today and he was glad to see it and that his efforts were working. The Doctor gave her a genuine smile, "What do you think of this place?"

Rose grinned, knowing it would be something of a relief to know they weren't pulling each other's hair out. She doubted he wanted another Sarah Jane situation, or as Mickey had put it -- 'The Mrs. and the Ex.' Admittedly, it had been Rose's jealousy that had triggered the whole situation, but up until that point, she hadn't even considered that there'd be others. A stupid, naive notion considering his age, species and lifestyle. But Rose knew better now. She'd found an anchor in Sarah, a friend, even a kind of mentor. Somone who truly understood what it was like to be with The Doctor. They'd both loved him, and both lost him.

"Yeah, I bet you are," she teased, unable to stop the knowing look in her eye. Rose giggled and looked back toward the lagoon. "Nah, but really. They're amazing. We should all go out one day. Travel in the TARDIS and find a place like this. What d'ya say?" It would fun, Rose thought, the three them traveling with him. A part of her wondered what it would be like, if there would be any friction as they were used to having The Doctor to themselves.

Rose looked back at The Doctor to find him smiling at her, and she inclined her head at him. "Well, you would say that. You don't really notice the effect you have on people. You're... Well, you're you. She sighed, her voice quieter now. "How did I not figure it out sooner?" There was a moment's pause where Rose considered that notion, but then she grinned back, not wanting to get him down or tamper the mood. She considered his question for a moment. "I think it might be my new favourite place. How about you?"

Rose yawned and leaned back. The sun, the swimming and the food had made her sleepy and so she turned on her side to face The Doctor. Closing her eyes, she curled up next to him, not quite touching him as she normally would, but not far either. He had a very particular scent, a unique, calming effect and she found herself relaxing, listening to the sound of his voice and the wild life around them. Rose felt safe.

The Doctor was used to people who travelled with him meeting each other, and other versions of him- he'd had it all throughout his regeneration's and it was hardly a new feat. However, the first time it had happened with Rose it hadn't quite gone to plan at first, though she and Sarah Jane had seemed to get on eventually which is all he had wanted in the first place. It wasn't that he picked people up and dropped them when he could, he would have wanted to travel with them all for as long as he was able but he knew he couldn't. He couldn't be a permanent fixture in any of their lives because it would still all be a blink to his life, no matter how hard he tried to grab onto it and savour it. The Doctor couldn't face watching them wither and die in front of him, he liked to see them happy, keep those memories.

"Mmm." The Doctor nodded, though there was nothing in his tone or the way he was sat to suggest that it was a bad idea. It was in fact a good idea, and he knew he'd enjoy it but she might know that verbalising that sort of thing wasn't just him. "Let me know, so I can prepare the Old Girl." He nodded towards the TARDIS; having the three of them in one room would probably be quite loud. He'd probably need an aspirin himself.

That she hadn't figured it out sooner probably had nothing to do with his acting abilities to be able to look like an ordinary shop owner. Instead, he doubted she had expected him to be as he was; he had never appeared old to her, he knew that. This regeneration he wore his age on his face, rather than pushing it down with his past three, trying to look more youthful, relive those days before the war. "It doesn't matter now, we are where we are." He commented lightly, trying to keep the serious tone out of his voice.

It was a beautiful place, there was no denying it. He had seen spectacular things but this came close on the top of his list. Maybe it was her enthusiasm for the place which made him feel that way, or maybe even the fact she looked so happy but there was a swell in his chest across both his hearts. Not for the first time he smiled at her, simply, truly, "It's a special place."

"It's a date," she replied happily, shuffling around a little to get more comfortable. While her eyes were still shut, she could tell by the sound of his voice that he wasn't dismissing the idea. On the contrary, he seemed to like it, or at least she hoped that's what she heard in that Scottish accent and she wasn't misinterpreting anything. It wasn't a voice she remembered, but one that sounded the same. It was very odd, but somehow his essence came through no matter what he sounded like, or what he looked like. Her mind began to imagine where they'd go; maybe it would be an adventure with lots of running and danger, or maybe it would be more like this. Quiet. Peaceful. Content.

Or maybe this was just for them.

"Mmm," she mumbled quietly, though like The Doctor, it wasn't necessarily a mumble of doubt. The more time they spent together, the more Rose found herself where she'd always been. By his side, happy, untroubled, alive. This was probably the happiest she'd been since she'd arrived, and Rose found herself smiling into her doze, letting his voice drift her away.

"It is," she agreed. He was her safe haven, her happy place. He completed her in many ways, and challenged her, and made her grow as a person. Just as he'd always done, he'd shown her how to live. How to really live your life and not just survive it. Rose found herself letting go of her inhibitions, forgetting everything and just enjoying the moment. She curled up closer to him still, no longer feeling nervous or unsure, and let her head rest against his chest.

Rose felt herself lightly dozing, her breathing slow and steady. The heat of the sun kept her half aware of where she was, but her mind had gone somewhere else, and she dreamt of home, of the TARDIS and her Mum. The Doctor.

Rose jumped, her eyes flying open.

The Doctor just watched her as she moved closer but did nothing to prevent it. Was it that he didn't want her to not feel comfortable or was it something more? He didn't complain as she rested herself on his chest; his arms were behind his head, offering up some kind of cushion against the warm ground they were lay on. The sun was quite warm so it wasn't surprising that she was dozing and he found himself there just contemplating things.

For a few moments he did nothing, it seemed like she had dozed off but some of her hair had brushed into her eyes so he took his hand and moved some of it back, tucking it behind her ear. However, when she jolted and shifted he moved his hand back quickly, settling once more as though nothing had happened. He crooned his neck so that he was looking around at her, "Everything okay?" The Doctor asked, with concern thick in his tone.
