    Elysium Locations

    OVERCITY

    ALLIANCE SQUARE

Characterized by gleaming spires and a common part of the cityscape on postcards, the highest towers of Alliance Square are where decisions are made and carried out by the region's leadership. Home to the offices of judges and clerks and patrolmen, departments and conferences and assembly chambers, this is where enterprising supplicants may wish to go if they hope to mingle with the movers and shakers of the city.

    VENUS GARDENS

The upper levels of Elysium's equator are paved with a band of green, the only substantial stretch of 'nature' throughout the entire city. Originally built to honor the goddess of love, these gardens are fitted with their own ecosystem of artificial sunlight, simulated blue skies and illusory landscapes in the duraglass walls and weather systems. As a rule of thumb, the closer the ring runs to Alliance Square, the more extravagant sections of the gardens will be, featuring luxuries such as unnatural fountains, pools of water, and exotic birds and fish. Some regions of the green are sectioned off for farming fresh fruits and vegetables to supplement Elysian diets.

    LIBRARY OF HOLOCRONS

Essentially all data in Elysium is virtual, whether in the form of digital writings, video, or holographic projections. The Library of Holocrons is the single greatest stable repository of knowledge the Cosmic Wilderness has to offer, with schools and academies frequently sending students of all ages there for tours. While most their content is remotely accessible through the web, the library itself offers a quiet place to lounge, large projectors for displaying media, and public seminars conducted by popular minds of the times.

    CLUB NIRVANA

Nirvana is one of the key locations for highbrow nightlife wants and needs, offering sophisticated mixed drinks and tonic of dazzling radioactive color (some of which will require signing a waiver of health before purchase), highbrow selections of ambient music, executive lounges, contortionist entertainment, and - of course - escorts that will tend to their clients' every need (under the constraints of their terms of service). Nirvana takes a zero tolerance stance on unruly behavior, so keeping an eye on one's drinking threshold is highly advised.

    RESIDENTIAL SPIRES

Due to the dense nature of the city, Elysians are provided housing in assigned skyscraper condominiums. The more an Elysian gives back to the Alliance and to Elysium itself, and the more valuable and critical their role, the more luxurious their lodgings. Lodgings can range from simple and compact including only the barest essentials, to lavish penthouses with expansive views taking up more than one floor.

    EFFIGIA, INC.

Effigia is Elysium’s main cybernetic development center. Located adjacent to Alliance Square, Effigia can be easily recognized by the twin towers that spiral around each other, reaching up toward Elysium’s sky. This building is home to some of the most beautiful, efficient, and even dangerous innovations in the Cosmic Wilderness. Effigia deals with both robotics and artificial intelligence, creating everything from cybernetic body enhancements to tiny yet intelligent nanobots.

    GALLERIA DE LOREAN

The largest shopping district in all of Pandora’s regions, the Galleria de Lorean is infamous for its sheer scope and wealth. Hundreds of stores line its broad corridors, and there’s even a mini amusement park nestled in the middle. Restaurants and theaters are scattered throughout, and winding through the very center of the bottom-most floor is a shallow canal where one can catch a ride on a gondola from one part of the mall to the next.

    STARSX ACADEMY

Occupying multiple institutional structures throughout Elysium and a few outposts beyond, StarsX is the exploratory department within the Alliance government that seeks to discover, document, and educate with regards to the Cosmic Wilderness. StarsX as an organization tends to be closely connected with Starfleet, with joint missions and projects being a common occurrence.

    UNDERCITY

    DIVEBAR 69

D69 knows exactly what it is and flaunts it. A tacky, dated neon sign with at least one letter fizzing out marks its entrance. Drinks are cheap and largely homebrewed via D69's own 'secret recipes'. The interior is surprisingly deep cleansed regularly of blood, intestinal residue, and vomit, which seems to be the only aspect D69 staff is interested in maintaining without nearly as much concern for the sketchy and/or violent dealings that cause these messes in the first place. Gross and unsanitary spills are largely scrubbed clean within a few hours. They're very proud of that.

    DOGHOUSE SALVAGE

This small, tightly packed warehouse is not an ordinary supply house. It is packed with many unusual items recovered and reclaimed from the Cosmic Wilderness, all across the Cosmic Wilderness, and elsewhere in Pandora. Many of these items are up for sale - some of them for scrip, some of them for other forms of payment. The Doghouse is also known to give to those left behind by society with arbitration and distribution performed by those who work there.

    INDUSTRIAL TUNNELS

Essentially the labyrinthine 'streets' of the Undercity. Maps and street naming conventions do exist for the busier avenues connecting one location of interest to another, but with the way the tunnels, corridors, and shafts like to twist and turn, rise and drop, and plunge into darkness in the especially more obscure regions, becoming desperately lost is a common concern for those venturing here unprepared.

    THE SHIFTERY

In the underground of Elysium, outside the grip of the Alliance, strange people operate in the shadows; one of them is a creature simply called Cynic. Definitely alien-looking by regular human standards, they offer a rather dangerous but, if successful, quite fascinating service: the reshaping of bodies and faces in ways some would call witchcraft, and others alien technology. The rate of success seems to fluctuate depending on who you ask, but Cynic themself would never leave a customer unsatisfied, as they say. The shaping itself is paid with credits or other valuables; some whisper that Cynic even accepts memories.

    SCAVIES ROW

While the Alliance maintains a stringent grasp on the flow of luxuries and specialty commodities in the Overcity, Scavengers Row is the Oligarchy-controlled trading center for all goods and services regardless of origin. Duds, lemons, and counterfeits are common encounters, and tend to outnumber the diamonds in the rough that many peruse Scavies Row for. Prosthetics on sale should be examined with a critical eye as well as consideration for who may have been murdered during the process of acquisition. Scavies Row takes up a districts' worth of the Industrial Tunnels, with a low lit warehouse as its centerpiece.

    THE UNDERDOME

Known only by rumor to most without an ear to the ground, The Underdome is the common ruffian's premier entertainment that's located in an abandoned smuggling warehouse far from prying Alliance eyes and controlled by a lucrative gambling ring. Fighters enter the cage to settle scores, pay off debts, just for fun, or maybe because they've just had a little too much to drink. The only rule? There are no rules, though killing is bad for business. For a fee, spectators can even activate the electric wiring in the bars of the cage for extra entertainment.

    VOTKAI

A hole in the wall tavern filled with mismatched stools and tables to accommodate all sorts of sizes. Every night is Alien Night here, but humans are welcome too so long as they behave — and watch what they order, of course. About every third bottle in the back is poisonous to them. Brawls aren't uncommon to see outside the double doors, but as soon as anyone even thinks about bringing it in, they're in for a good Kryptonian wallop.

    Regional Locations

Due to the especially mercurial nature of the Cosmic Wilderness, it has no set subregions beyond Elysium at this time. The Alliance and StarsX Academy have attempted to map out the orbital paths and trajectories of the most notable objects and systems to varying success; as a result, most their networks are outfitted with dynamic, constantly updating starmaps. Cosmic cartography is a continuous work in progress.

    COSIMO STATION

At the apex of the Pandopolis Elevator, well above Pandora's atmosphere and ceiling, floats COSTA. COSTA connects all major locations throughout the Cosmic Wilderness via a shuttle network, and offers a modest selection of overnight stay hotels, tourist gift shops, and cafes for those awaiting their next scheduled flight.

    STARFLEET

Starfleet is a force of battle-ready ships charged with ariel protection, patrolling the wilderness to watch for threats, search and rescue, and help with trading between settlements throughout the cosmos (and occasionally with other regions). Functionally, they're the Elysian Navy (with the Starfighter Corps as their equivalent to the Marines). They're based in stations, hangars, and executive ships all throughout the Cosmic Wilderness, with their headquarters circling Elysium itself in a steady orbit. Starfleet develops their own military-grade vessels, which enjoy a reputation of being the cream of the crop.

    CERES

A mining and excavation colony built into the surface of an asteroid that maintains an irregular orbit around a cluster of material-rich, danger-rife planetoids, Ceres represents the quintessential Wild West aspect of the Cosmic Wilderness. Space saloons, cantinas, and space cowboys are deeply ingrained in Ceran culture, which in turn looks down upon Elysian city folk as unbled and untested as a stereotype. They may or may not be wrong. The faint glow of a red star overlooks the system during daytime.

    SPECULATUM

A drifting field of asteroids whose surfaces reflect like mirrors. It’s a deadly place to fly through because the asteroids confuse all but the most advanced laser technology.

    PROMETHEUM

An unstable, storm-wracked planetoid heavily guarded and regulated under Alliance control, Prometheum is theorized to be the source of all Prometheus Dust within Pandora. Supernatural abilities are all but nullified on the gravitationally crushing proximity of Prometheum, and large chunks of rock can occasionally jettison off without a moment's notice, sending swaths of the coveted substance into the unknown. Without highly specialized technologies (specifically those unaffected by nullification) to protect you and your equipment, life expectancy on Prometheum is about a minute on average.

    ETHOTH

What seems to be a giant drop of water floating through space. There is no land or atmosphere. The world is over a hundred miles in circumference, and all sorts of magnificent (and dangerous) creatures exist within its depths.

    MASMOTER

A small, flat, disc-like planet with a very active volcano at its center. Lava is constantly flowing, dripping off the edges to drift away into space. Chunks of rock are scattered through the oceans of lava, glittering with valuable minerals, and old fortresses cling to igneous pillars.

    STARSHIP GRAVEYARD

Deep within the Cosmic Wilderness, massive fleets' worth of suspended wreckage floats on in silence. A mish-mash of contradictory clues ranging from devastating war to plagues sweeping through the population confuse attempts to divine what prompted this devastation. Only skeletons and ravenous mutated necromorphs remain of the once residents.

    WARP TUNNELS

Warp Tunnels, or Hyperspace Lanes, or whichever colloquial term one prefers, are the highways of the Cosmic Universe. Vessels equipped with the properly configured and functional warp drives can cut through swaths of space that would otherwise take weeks or months to complete at lightspeed. The warp tunnels themselves have been described as spacetime blurring past in all directions, from the safety of a behind a starship viewport.

    COSMIC CURRENT

The Cosmic Current winds throughout the Cosmic Wilderness much like a massive river might wind through land. And like a river, the Cosmic Current is sometimes placid and quiet and other times raging and filled with dangerous debris. It’s full of all manner of space flotsam, from broken down ships to chunks of asteroid and even what seem to be smashed up planets. It’s a risky place to go but if you survive the journey there’s potential to come away with great treasures.

    JUNO

The Cosmic Wilderness's largest supermassive black hole (that we know of), Juno may be part of the reason why the Wilderness doesn't implode into itself from all the cosmic mass that has a tendency to appear for seemingly no rhyme nor reason. Juno travels the cosmos on a semi-predictable trajectory and gorges itself on the celestial bodies within its path. Past Juno's event horizon, things get even weirder. Juno makes for a covetous scientific study, as the only ways to safely learn anything meaningful about its nature are far beyond the limitations of mainstream 'science'.

    THE WAYCASTLE

Orbiting Juno is a lonely abandoned outpost that manages to keep on chugging along on a stable trajectory, fueling itself from the vast amounts of energy the nearby black hole projects. The station may be only nominally 'abandoned', as it's occasionally in a strategic enough location can sometimes provide refuge for cosmic vagabonds, occasionally stable enough to act as a refueling station. Only Juno's dangerously looming proximity makes it undesirable for long term occupation and repair. Enterprising adventurers have taken to calling it the Waycastle.

    THE HAUNTED HOUSE

Seated on a wayward asteroid, an old house towers over an inexplicably overgrown lot with misty, breathable atmosphere. Before the house was mysteriously relocated from Misty Hollow into... space, kids had thrown rocks through the windows to smash them and creepers and vines had grown over the house and through to the inside. There's a basement too, looks like some sort of animal got in and dug all the way through the foundations. It's spooky in there, with an odd allure about it, inviting those wandering through the stars with a taste of Earth.
