    August 30th, Year 4, Library

Mahad was never the sort to shy away from Knowledge. When he'd discovered the concept of a library here in Pandora, and one that was open to everyone, he'd made a point to visit it at every opportunity. Back in Egypt, the closest thing he'd experienced is the Pharaoh's store of scrolls and tablets. There was much to be learned from those that had come before him, and he'd always aspired to one day add more to the store of information. Here in Pandora, the fact that everyone could better themselves both appealed and scared the Magician. If someone such as the Thief King Bakkura could simply walk into the Library, there was no telling as to what horrors they could unleash. Still, the benefits of educating the masses could not be denied.

The Magician spent all the brief moments away from serving people he had wandering the rows of bookshelves... Hunting for knowledge. He had been surprised at first that most of the books he had viewed were in fact works of fiction. He supposed that made sense though. With a place like this, it was not so unbelievable that people of Pandora would like some form of escapism, and the library was the perfect place for that... But that was not why he was here. No, he was here searching for tomes, scrolls and scriptures that could perhaps enhance or improve his skills with magic. A large part of things were not helpful for him. Pandora had an odd way of mixing the rules of magic from many different universes. A lot of what he had tried simply did not work for him due to him being a different universe than it's author. Still, there had been a few useful tricks he'd learned...

He turned a corner, coming into the part of the library that he was seeking, a section of darker, more sinister magics. He knew that many would not understand his practicing of them. Indeed, most questioned why one with such a desire to help others would practice dark magic in the first place. They did not realize that Dark and Evil were not one and the same. He utilized the darker side of magic simply because it was often effective. It was not inherently evil or good, but rather was a reflection of the one wielding it. That being said, he knew the dangers of what he sought. Often, things were forbidden and sealed away for a reason, after all. Whenever he found something like that, he left it alone. It was not wise to tempt and tamper with such things.

He turned another corner, headed deeper into the place, seeking what he could, however, something seemed off. He stopped and listened. Someone else was here, he was sure of it. Who else could be down here, seeking the darker powers of Pandora?

Hurrying out of the classroom as it was now late evening and her classes was over for the day, the young woman moved to head for the library fast.

Artemis found herself yawning as a flicker of movement came from a couple of feet ahead of her and the young woman hit the brakes then watched the man just ahead of her. It was the outfit that her attention, it kind of reminded her of Doctor Fate and that may mean a magic-user - big question was the good kind or the bad kind.

Best follow him to see what he was looking for among the library shelves, if it proved dangerous and all that. Playing hero was kind of hard to let go of after all.

Robin was back in the library again hoping this time to find something more magically inclined as he'd heard from someone at the school that they had a more exclusive area for such things here in the Pandora town library. He'd been looking around for a while and noticed two people going down somewhere, one he'd seen before in the guise of a teenage girl while the other seemed to be wearing a strange form of Mage like attire.

He wasn't sure why the girl was sneaking after the man but he made no attempts to do the same, it wasn't in his nature to do such thing unless it was required on the battlefield or in some form of necessary tactic. Robin had came from around the same corner the girl was near, nodding to her in a gesture of greeting and continued near the magician. He hadn't been walking either, he'd been lightly levitating in order to catch up and stopped short of the man.

"Sorry if I scared you, I was just looking for books of magic. See how they compare to my own tomes" exclaimed Robin as he pulled out his dark magic tome Nosferatu and held it up briefly. It was a dark purple tome with silver lining but Robin put it back fairly quickly because he didn't want the man to think he was getting ready to attack.

Yes, he had definitely heard someone approaching, as the footsteps became quite clear to him. It seemed that another had come down here seeking a similar font of knowledge, an interesting coincidence. The magician smiled as he replied, quite willing to talk to one showing such interest in magic. "Do not worry, friend. The Library is open to the public, it would be quite naive of me to be surprised at the presence of another. In fact, you seem to have ventured here for a similar reason to myself." Mahad stopped for a moment, contemplating something. He supposed that perhaps a conversation on the topic would be welcomed by both parties. Often it was far easier to grasp concepts when explained in-person. "I am known as The Dark Magician" He continued. "It is a pleasure to speak with you." He paused a moment before asking "That tome you held earlier, is it from this place, or perhaps your own world? Forgive the intrusion, but I am highly curious as to the usage and abilities of magic of other realms. A long time ago, I taught the magic of my world, and I would not mind sharing a few spells of my own in return." He chuckled briefly, before finishing "Knowledge should be shared, in my opinion..."

The man seemed to be quite polite and was here for a similar reason for being in this place as he had, Robin was interested in magic of all kinds and worlds. Most of the magic he found when he was in Aytolis was essentially the same as the type he had back home and wasn't all that interesting. Robin had nodded to the man's politeness, "My name is Robin" replied to the Dark Magician which sounded like a title or something similar to a stage name of sorts.

The man asked about his tome, whether it was from here or his home reality and Robin thought about sharing the knowledge. The man added that he believed that knowledge should be shared and Robin did agree but he was worried that maybe it might not be wise. Though he guessed with the girl nearby there would be witnesses to any sort of thievery or or attack on behalf of this Dark Magician.

"This tome is from my world, I also hold five others on my person. If one has a magical aptitude then these tomes can be used and eventually mastered. At first one can only use a minor spell from the tomes but once they've been mastered, the spells can be manipulated to great effect. My tomes are elemental in nature, ranging from the dark one I currently hold to fire, wind and thunder" explained Robin who'd taken out the tome he'd brought out previously.

Using his other hand he also pointed moved his robe to one side and showed the man the blade on his belt, it's jagged nature was apparent but it wouldn't go off unless Robin activated it. "The sword on my belt is also magical in nature, it's called the Levin sword and can further manipulate thunder" he added before letting his robe flow back to it's original position.

So neither of the men seemed evil as they slipped into a conversation about spell-books. Shaking her head at the thought of Zatanna joining in if she was here, the young woman moved to a nearby bookshelf - using it as cover as she surveyed the books. Once that was done, she could move on and find something useful for her studies.

She could do her homework after all that and it was nice to get away from the chaos and noise of the school corridors for a few hours. She did need to do a small amount of studying for her literature class and the students had been each given a different book for a paper due in a day or two.

Mahad listened intently to his new companion. It was interesting to him to discover different types of magic, their rules and uses. The system of magic the young man was describing seemed somewhat similar to the one from his own world. It seemed to be elemental in nature, and had differing effects based on the skill of the user. Mahad nodded along to the explanation. "Fascinating. It seems to be quite similar to the magic used within my own world, in that it is element-based, though our particular brand of magic seems more broad with it's applications. Our magic is mainly focused on summoning spirit monsters and then augmenting those monsters with spells and hexes to further improve their combat prowess, though it can also be summoned for other purposes." Mahad settled quite easily into the conversation, having been a teacher of magic and High Priest in his past. The subject sparked his passion quite easily. "Are you able to demonstrate any particular spells for me? I am more than willing to return the favor. Perhaps we could learn a thing or two from one another?" A smile crossed his face. This was his element, the thing he was dedicated to almost as much as his duty to the Pharaoh...

The man seemed quite interested in his explanation about his tomes and then spoke about his own world's magic. Which revolved summoning spirit monsters of some sort, he knew little about summoners save for what he'd read in books. They were a class of magic user during another countries time of upheaval, and sorcerers could be promoted into the class if they chose too. Maybe it held similarities to that old class, it did sound intriguing to him to be able to summon creatures to his and or his friends aid.

"That sounds quite interesting, I did read a book in my home world once that spoke of magic users called summoners. They could call up spirits to help them fight" informed Robin then he remembered Necromancers but they weren't summoners exactly at least not really. And he knew that they weren't all that loved by people, even those that they were employed with. The man asked if he could give a demonstration and he would do the same for him, Robin thought for a bit as to which would be safest to use within such a space. Placing the dark tome back into his robe, he took out another one this time it was green with gold lining and symbols.

"This would be the safest to use here, this is Elwind which is my wind tome. And I would love to know how to summon those monsters you speak, I think it would be a great addition to my magical knowledge" replied Robin as he opened the book and levitated a little above the ground so as to not bounce any wind somewhere else. With a safe position acquired Robin started up the spell and The Dark Magician would see Robin's coat flew around quite wildly. But then he'd also feel the wind nipping at him slightly, Robin was controlling it completely as he let it fly by and around the Dark Magician. It was nothing harmful by the wind could be felt going around the purple clad man likely also some of the man's own robes as well.

It was nice to pick up student life again despite being trapped here, following weeks of pretending to be someone else. Once she had got the book she needed for her studies, she would head home as fast as possible and change for a shift at work. This was turning into a harmless conversation about magic after all.

Or so she thought, until the mention of summoning monsters, Were either of them like Klarion or something? Continuing to study the shelves like she was more interested in the books, she inched closer even as one of them used some kind of wind spell.

Aha, Wind. It was not an element Mahad often encountered, mainly having battled DARK, LIGHT and EARTH Attribute creatures in the past, though the miniature blustering gale blowing the looser parts of his garb reminded him of his Pharaoh's battle against Mai Valentine and her Harpies. His eyes grew wistful for a moment or two, before he returned his attention to the matter at hand. He clapped briefly at the display. He reminded her of Mana somewhat, at least when she was focused on study. He began to answer Robin's questions, saying "Yes, the summoners of which you spoke do indeed sound familiar. It would seem there are more similarities between our worlds than I had thought, which is quite the interesting development." He nodded thoughtfully. "Though I'm afraid I cannot demonstrate our world's chief specialization in magic to you, not anymore. This is because I am a spirit to be summoned." He said, again looking wistful, remembering the moment he had gladly thrown away his humanity for the Pharaoh, in defiance of the Thief King. He attempted to turn the matter back towards the study of magic though, by saying "I can, however, demonstrate several abilities that I may be called upon to use. I think they may be enlightening." He said with a wry smile. After a moment, his outline began to blur. A second later, there were Three Dark Magicians standing before Robin, each almost identical, differing only in colors. One wearing Blue armour with a red trim, another purple, and the third Black with a White Trim. All three spoke in unison "I am quite skilled at what is often called 'Illusion Magic'."

"I believe all magic might have a similar source, regardless of the world one lives in" exclaimed Robin with a philosophical one in his voice though truthfully it was merely something he'd observed in his time. Might have even read it in a book he wasn't quite certain, since he had gaps in his memories he could've gotten it from anywhere.

The man had claimed that he had become a summon himself so to speak, Robin pondered that for a moment as to how one went about such things. Not that he was wanting to become a spirit to be summoned, though his own strange heritage and being forced against his friends brought such memories to the forefront. "I can't be summoned, but I have been taken control of by another. Someone who was to my dismay a member of my family" expressed Robin sadly.

Not because of the betrayal as the person who did it, wasn't someone he held any trust in to begin with. But finding out such a villain was his parent, always left a bad taste in his mouth to come from such a dark man. Then Mahad said he could show other tricks and produced a couple of extra versions of himself in differing colours, claiming it as illusion magic. "That could come in handy, I imagine" commented Robin.

He seemed to be a keen learner, which only served to impress the Magician further. He was a teacher at heart. Mahad continued to listen to his new friend speak of magic. He had an interesting theory that all magic came from similar sources, regardless of world or circumstance. Mahad has not fully convinced of this. On the one hand, most tomes and records he had read here had mentioned similar sources of power, and yet not every person within Pandora had access to every school of magic. He would have to continued to research that later.

Robin continued to speak to him. It seemed he had been under the control of others at some point in time. Mahad offered a empathatic nod. He had been controlled by less than virtuous people before... Robin turned the conversation to more positive things, complimenting Mahad's ability. The Magician smiled once again. "Ahah. It has been useful in many situations. I'm sure you've thought of several yourself already." He waved away the clones, causing them to vanish.

Even with the dopplegangers appearing, the conversation was turning out to be just that - a conversation again so there was no need for her to stay. Moving past the two magic-users with some books in tow to keep up her undercover stint, she wondered if Zatanna would have joined in the chat if she was here.

Guess she was going to check the books, ones she needed for the college work out and head home for some quiet time - maybe a shower and a snack as well.

The man or spirit, which ever it was that he preferred to be considered. Not that he'd think of anyone less of a person because of their race or designation, he was friends with were-dragons and were-bunnies. Not to mention himself being the embodiment of the dark dragon, expected to be sacrificed in order to bring the evil god back into the world.

But he shook that off and returned to reality as Mahad spoke about his illusions, saying that Robin had probably already thought of ways to use it. Which was true, they'd be very useful for diversionary tactics in battle. "Yes, I think I could implement that well. I was the tactician for a group of warriors back home, it was our duty to wonder around the kingdoms and save people in trouble" informed Robin who was proud of the Shepherds and what they did for people.

Mahad nodded in understanding. Robin's cause was just, or at least, it had been before he had been pulled into Pandora. "It is good to hear that those who would protect the weak still linger in this world. After my many years, I had begun to lose hope for humanity. Though I suppose my own condition does little to alleviate matters. Regardless, I am quite relieved that you seem to be an honest person." Mahad thought a moment. Spending this many years in silent solitude had somewhat dulled his conversational skilles. "What is it you do within Pandora, my friend. This place is a great equalizer, and there do not seem to be any ongoing wars. How do you spend your time?" Mahad was genuinely curious about this. There seemed to be little for the young lad to be doing...
