    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    They'd done a lot of things.
    Not as many things are people thought they had, that was for damn sure. There were many people out there that were one hundred percent, hand-to-God certain that Ryoji and Minato had been together from the moment Ryoji careened toward that little food stand a month ago. Like they'd set eyes on each other a singular time and were instantly locked in tongue-to-tongue combat, never to be separated from each other ever again. But that... wasn't true. It couldn't be farther from the truth, as far as Ryoji was concerned. The farthest that their relationship -- god, could he even call it a relationship? Was he allowed to do that? Nothing was official, nothing was set in stone... it was pretty damn obvious, sure, but there was no verbal confirmation -- had ever gotten was, well, sleeping in the same bed.
    And sometimes Ryoji still wasn't entirely sure that that wasn't because he couldn't afford to buy his own bed.
    (That, however, was mostly due to self doubt. At this point, he'd be highly surprised if either of them could sleep at all without being entangled in each other's limbs. It'd feel empty and not worth it. They were always cuddled up close, but... Ryoji could, naively, blame that on his own tactile nature. He had to be touching.)
    He had always expected to be the bold one in... whatever this thing they had going on was. He was used to being the bold one, in a world now forgotten where the Minato he knew barely even spoke. Ryoji, from the time he was... uh, born (created? Forced out of Minato's temporal lobe? Manifested upon the earth?) was the one who was always leading Minato into situations. Giving him stupid ideas, getting him into even stupider situations. It was almost a talent that he'd perfected into an art in his short month of living.
    But Pandora was different. Ohhh, Pandora was very different. And so was Minato.
    The last thing Ryoji had been expecting to read today was an admission that Minato would come home to kiss him after hanging out with Ren. In a group chat, of all places. It was so far down on his list of things that he expected to read today that he almost flung his phone sheer across the room in a confused panic upon reading it.
    Minato was coming home to do what? Excuse?!
    Ryoji actually choked. So much for him being the bold one. That uh. That knocked him into second place real fast.
    Almost instantaneously, he could feel his body start to shake. Oh, this emotion was new. It certainly wasn't fear, and it certainly wasn't sadness... anticipation, maybe? Uncertainty, but not in a bad way? Was there a word for that? If there was, Ryoji sure as hell couldn't think of it. His brain was off in orbit somewhere, and there was a good chance that it's ship wouldn't land for the next... x amount of time until his blueberry-haired companion found his way back. It felt like there were butterflies dancing underneath his skin, and that was... well, it was weird. There was no other way to put it than 'weird'. Ryoji didn't hate it.
    He curled up on the edge of Minato's bed, pressing himself into the corner. His hands were shaking too hard to even try to continue any conversation he might have been having, so he excused himself from the bustling group chat before tossing his phone aside onto some other random part of the bed. Ryoji's hands found their way to his scarf, and he squished it like a stress ball in order to try and calm his quaking physical form.
    So this was the next level, huh? This was the level everyone already assumed they were at? That they had passed?
    Oh, god. He wished. He'd wished for a while now.
    Looked like that wish could be coming true.
    Oh god.
    It really was just a moment of 'you only live once'. Minato had spent seven months in this place, growing, living, learning what he could learn about himself and the people around him. These last seven months had been a freedom from the weight of Nyx, and with them with help and care and friends, he had found a part of himself so open it refused to be shut.
    Ryoji was there. Minato acted on twelve days of thinking and Ren's encouragement, and dropped a bomb on Ryoji.
    It was strange, to know how heavily they'd switched over these few months. Ryoji anxiously vibrating around SEES, with Minato's confidence taking on a more social aspect... It was a little strange, but not bad, no.
    He'd left Ren, walking the short distance home, mind whirling with the promise he'd practically made in front of thirty witnesses. It was a show, the final nail in the proverbial coffin. He wanted to move on, and he was. He'd tortured himself long enough.
    Kay greeted him at the door. He left her with a pet and walked straight up to his room, pushing the door open with no pause whatsoever
    The door opening startled Ryoji just a little bit. Mostly because he wasn't really expecting Minato to be back that quick. Kissing someone was serious business, it seemed. Maybe it was because of the amount of witnesses. Couldn't exactly back out now, could they? Not if people were going to... ask them how this went, or whatever. Or tease them about it. Or... anything else.
    Alright. He had to settle down. Getting himself lost in some kind of weird, cyclical thought pattern wasn't going to help anybody. No, it was time to stuff the weird anxiety aside. His chest could beat as loud as it wanted, but his mind was going to be clear, dammit. The ball wasn't exactly in his court, but he'd work with it when it was. That was a large part of relationships, anyway; knowing how to handle the ba-
    Time to stop himself before that thought process went any farther.
    Ryoji scooted himself more toward the edge of the bed, sitting so that he could dangle one leg off the edge and touch his ankle to his opposite knee. Hands folded delicately in his lap, he gave Minato a far-too-innocent smile.
    "You're back early," He pointed out, chuckling lightly. "Someone eager to keep a promise?"
    Ryoji was seated on his bed, as if he had no care in the world and Minato shut the door behind him, coming over to plop next to him on the bed with a content sigh. Already he felt at ease, even if his heart was beating valiantly out of his chest, the world felt right. It felt ready. Minato certainly was: He knew Ryoji like one knew their favorite song, always welcomed, sweeter for being memorized, the kind of thing that made him want to spring to his feet and dance until he was exhausted. The kind of thing that could never be overplayed, was always fond... A thousand things could describe Ryoji, but they all paled to the real thing, in honesty.
    He looked at him, silver eyes flickering through the fringe, and he smiled, soft and gentle. There was no reason to deny the hand that wandered up Ryoji's arm to his cheek, cradling the jaw and the soft skin like a treasured keepsake.
    "Ren needed a little cheering up, but he also kind of pressured me to leave early." A small snort followed that, the luminous eyes tracing Ryoji's face. "Said something about not denying my boyfriend his first kiss."
    Knowing each other inside and out had it's perks. Ryoji melted into Minato's hand as soon as it had touched his face, and although he was still vibrating like a cell phone left unread on a wooden table (and he hoped to god that Minato couldn't feel that, but there was no way in hell that he couldn't,) he calmed significantly. Any sort of physical contact was like a cure-all. No matter what kind of anxiety Ryoji felt, even if it concerned Minato himself, it could be eased away with the most gentle of touch.
    He stared into the eyes of his other half, tilting his face against his hand.
    What a pretty color they were.
    What a beautiful boy who had them.
    What a wonderful moment this was.
    He hadn't been expecting it, because of course he hadn't. Ryoji hardly expected much. He had all of the foresight of a newborn baby. But instead of scaring him, or amplifying the anxiety, the word he used made the room light up with pretty colors. It eased some sort of tension in Ryoji's chest that he didn't know was there. It felt... right. The right word to use.
    Boyfriend.
    "Remind your boyfriend to give him a word of thanks later, then, okay?" He teased softly. "He's sorry to have cut your meeting short, but... this is very important."
    The way Ryoji leaned into it made Minato's heart hammer a little harder. The simplest things sent them both into a tailspin, because Minato had already had his heart broken and Ryoji was two months old. His heart thundered quietly and he scooted closer until their knees and thighs were pressed together on the bed. The other hand came up to cradle Ryoji's other cheek and stroke the skin, the familiar face and eyes stared back at him with nothing but adoration.
    Minato leaned upwards, pulling Ryoji down slightly to meet him
    Their lips connected with the softness of a cloud, but it felt like a thunderclap. Minato's eyelids fluttered closed. He sank upwards into his other half, hands sliding across Ryoji's shoulders and into his hair.
    There it was.
    The moment their lips connected, a firework went off. All of the butterflies that had settled in the pit of Ryoji's stomach started to flutter again. Everything was somehow familiar and new. Safe and dangerous, exciting and... normal. Everything was everything and there were no words for anything. The world was spinning out of control between them and neither one of them planned on stopping it any time soon.
    Minato's hands in his hair made Ryoji feel like a sentient puddle of goop. Maybe he'd turn into one, if they stayed like this long enough. It was a risk he was willing to take, he decided as he sat one of his hands on the upper part of Minato's leg. He wanted nothing more than to pull him closer, to wrap his arms around his... his boyfriend, now, but their positions wouldn't really allow for that.
    He didn't want to break from the kiss. He wanted this tiny moment to last forever.
    This was what it felt like to truly be happy.
