Some weird shit had been going down in the Wastes, not too long after his job in orbit he'd been hearing all this stuff about a dragon swimming in the sand. Which that sounded stupid since you couldn't swim in sand but whatever that's what they said to him. A couple Scavengers talked about finding it in some wreck, a wreck that crashed and slowly two and two was coming together. Whoops. He figured he shoulda checked what the ship had been carrying just for his own sake but hey it wasn't like he'd unleashed a plague. One giant monster in that stink hole of a desert wasn't gonna make much difference. At least he thought that way at first. Then the stories kept coming and it became a real menace, he wasn't really worried about people more worried about shelving the blame for it getting released if he was linked to it. So part of him thought of fragging it but then he realized then he'd be doing work for no pay. And it wasn't like it'd be an easy kill that could be fun and enjoyable. Not he'd have to track it and everything. Yeah he wasn't the interested in doing all that. But soon some merchants were piling together money and Lobo finally found his reason to head back to the Wastes.

Lobo pulled out his scanner, trying to pick a reading on anything moving underneath the sand. In his other hand he was holding a sandwich he'd picked up in the last town he'd passed over before getting to the wastes. Hunting a dragon wasn't usually his thing, but a bulletproof dragon that could wipe out whole towns? Oh yes he would hunt that for the price he was being offered. His scanner found nothing and he pocketed it, he could probably look for one of it's last meals and track it via scent from there. Tossing what was left of his meal he revved up his hog and flew over the dunes, looking down for anything. After about three hours he saw remains of what probably had been a caravan, half buried and some bodies still there ripped to shreds. Could have been anything but the giant prints told a different story. He landed by the wreckage and started looking through it. Picking through bodies and old bits of cargo and sniffing to isolate the scent of the dragon.

Feeling a renewed sense of purpose following her meeting with Tony Stark, Annie donned her Starlight moniker a lot sooner than even she expected. Recent events prior to her arrival in Pandora had her questioning her very identity as a superhero and threatened to send her spiraling down into a dark place. For a minute, it seemed like she would do just that. Even when she was in the Seven, it seemed like she was alone in her struggles. Even her mother seemed distant to her and that rift only grew as she discovered the truth about Compound V.

She didn't want to admit it to him, but Tony Stark had reinvigorated her in more ways than one. The jury was still out, but it seemed Stark Industries had her interests at heart in ways that Vought never did. Immediately following her meeting with Stark, they publicly endorsed her throughout Ark City and on Starknet. She would become the face of their new vigilante initiative and they offered to provide her whatever she needed. Money, technology, even a luxury suite was available for her in Stark Tower should she consider a move. Most importantly, Stark allowed her to just be her genuine self. Just let her be Starlight.

Reports reached her of a dangerous creature lurking beneath the sand dunes of the Dread Wastes, preying on unsuspecting caravans of travelers. Utilizing the technology of the new suit Stark designed for her, Annie headed straight for the Wastes. Drawing from Annie's own energy source, Stark was able to fashion new boots with a propulsion system that enabled her to finally fly. Now she finally felt like a real superhero. And on top of that, the boots were cute.

Flying over the dunes, she scanned the area to find the remnants of a wrecked caravan with bodies strewn about it like on a battlefield. This was clearly a slaughter and a sign that whatever was responsible was close. Squinting her eyes, Annie could make out a lone figure still alive and searching through the wreckage. Probably a scavenger taking advantage of a recent kill. Still, didn't mean she couldn't be cordial.

"Excuse me!" She called out as she began descending down towards the wreckage. "Do you know what happened here?"

Lobo stood up when he heard someone landing on the ground behind him. He puffed at his cigar and looked her over, young, perky, gaudy outfit. Oh yeah, that was a supe alright. Lobo approached and plucked the cigar from his lips and motioned to the big print left by the dragon. "Big ass monster came and crushed these tribs, ain't gonna be no rescuing t'day sugar, monster's already come and gone. What's yer crazy little nickname anyway?" Lobo scanned the paw prints but couldn't get a tracker on them. He narrowed his eyes and grumbled. Still nothing but his nose to go on and that was fuzzy thanks to all the sand. The Supes could help but he didn't want her dealing with it before he could collect his bounty on the things head. He approached the supes again and stuck his cigar back between his lips. "If yer here ta kill it I'm already here to do that, so why don't ya go fly off and stop a purse snatching or somethin'." Lobo approached his bike and pulled off a plasma cannon to charge up.

"Imma find it, frag it, and get paid doin' it."

As she landed, Annie saw all truly grotesque the carnage really was. Her nose wrinkled at the stench of rotting flesh baking out in the sun. Her younger self would've cringed and maybe even vomited at such a grim sight, but her time in the Seven had exposed her to much worse. Still, there was a sickening feeling in her stomach that she had arrived too late to save these people. That was one of the toughest realizations when it came to being a hero. Not everyone could be saved.

"It's a lot worse than what my sources told me. Shit's really hit the fan." Starlight walked around the wreckage of the caravan, unflinching at the gore. She glanced at the massive footprints before turning her attention back to the wannabe tough guy. He looked like those biker gang types, she wondered where the rest of his posse was and why he ventured out alone. Did he know any of these people?

"Starlight." She answered with unwavering confidence and a hint of nonchalance. "What do they call you...Iron Maiden?" She was being a bit sassier than usual with him, but she had to maintain some degree of control lest she let the man get to her head. The Seven had also taught her valuable lessons when dealing with men such as this one. She snorted as the man affirmed that he was going to kill the creature and take all the glory for it. So he was a bounty hunter. That made sense as to why he looked to be actively tracking the behemoth down. An unexpected ally, but not an unwelcome one.

"Yeah unfortunately for you...purse snatching was yesterday. Monster hunting's today's agenda. Look, if you want to kill it and take the credit, go for it. I'm just here to make sure that thing doesn't go around hurting any more people."

Starlight? Wasn’t that one of the Teeny Titans? Nah close though, plus the lady didn’t look Tamaranian, too much clothes. And she looked too much like a human, smelled like one too, probably a meta, but if she was just there to stop the monster, she could be a good distraction while he lined up a shot. Lobo looked at her through his curtain of smoke and placed the plasma cannon back on his hog. "Names Lobo, The Main Man, and the Main Man ain't to keen on sharing the carnage when he don't need to." He blew a ring of smoke towards her and sighed. "But no idea what this is so might as well have another meatbag along for the ride." Lobo sniffed the air and pointed to the west. "It's gone that way if my nose is right, and it always is." Lobo hopped on his hog and revved the engine. Where the frag had this sand swimming tribb made it's nest then? If he was gonna have a supe tailing him she better have had powers that could help take the thing and not be some glorified candle or something.

"A'right honey you wanna tag along with the main man you keep up and keep out of the firing lane. I ain't known for my trigger discipline." Lobo revved his engine and took off, flying over the desert sands and then pulling up for some extra air. Following the feint scent trail wasn't that hard, he could track em through space on a scent like that but still he wasn't thrilled about the company.

Annie rolled her eyes. She trusted this Lobo about as far as she could throw him, which to her credit was still a fairly long distance with her strength. Judging by his unkempt appearance, dirt bike and the massive plasma cannon strapped to it, he screamed nothing but trouble. His tone and mannerisms towards her made her out to be nothing but a gnat to him. Normally, Annie would've taken greater offense to such an affront but this wasn't the time to make enemies. It seemed this guy wanted the monster stopped, though on his own terms, and as much as she didn't want to, they'd have to pursue it together.

"Oh don't worry about me. Just make sure the main man doesn't miss his shot. Given how big this thing seems, that won't be so hard." Annie returned with a quip of her own as she watched Lobo get on his bike. On cue, the energy from her propulsion boots ignited and she levitated once more in the air. As soon as he took off, she followed closely behind.
