It had been months since Ward had put Barbara Gordon in the hospital, hurt Jason Todd, and gotten on the bad side of the Caped Crusader. He hadn't given the episode much thought in recent times, but he was always a bit more wary of the Bat Vigilantes nowadays. Ward could handle the big man if he was alone, but they started to be a problem when they came in swarms. And a lot of them seemed to be kids, at that. Sneaky little pests...

But as of late, they hadn't been actively attacking many of HYDRA's operations...if at all. Ward was now standing in a shipping yard, overseeing a weapons shipment that was to be taken to Ophelia for her Learnean Corp investments. It was nighttime, and Ward was wearing a leather jacket with lightweight body armor concealed underneath. One could never be too careful in these times.

The HYDRA soldiers were moving crates of guns into large trucks, and they were moving a little too slow for Ward's liking.

"We're on a time table here," Ward reminded the men. "And you know what she does to people who fail to deliver." Crate by crate they went, until they finally finished.

It was time to head back to base. Ward started to walk towards his car so that he could do just that. As trained as his senses were, he hadn't yet picked up on the fact that someone very dangerous was in the vicinity.

It was time, he'd tried and tried to push this life away but try as he might it would not leave him alone and those in his life did not generally help him quit. His family had only encouraged the return to vigilantism and Jason's own inability to avoid getting involved had led him to take it as a sign that this was what he was meant to be doing. Besides he needed to atone for the things he'd done both long ago and more recently and this role as the Red Hood was his chance to do that. So he had set out to put things right and the offering a few nights before had given him the perfect opportunity to do so.

Via his contacts he had found out about a large weapons movement that night, with a little further digging he had discovered who the shipment was for and it seemed the perfect way to pay those who had unleashed the monster he had inside back in kind for all they had done. He had planned, he had checked out the location in the subtle way he had learnt when he had stalked Bruce hoping to kill him and then that night he had armoured up. He was back in the suit, protected by hidden body armour, guns on his hips, gadgets in the inner pockets of his brown leather jacket and splayed across his chest was the bright red bat. Last to go on had been the famous red helmet that gave him his name, the HUD within lighting up with information the moment the seals had closed.

The moment the helmet was on he had known there was no going back and so he had set out, picking up a few further tools from an old safe house of his on route. Then he'd settled himself upon a rooftop he'd scoped out before and appeared to merge with the shadows, all he had to do then was wait. Finally there was activity and still he waited, he'd done years of waiting as he prepared to kill Bruce, he knew he could wait a little longer for the perfect moment. Jason waited right up to the point when the vehicles were all loaded, he'd even resisted the urge to take a few pot shots with his guns when he saw a familiar face show up. Hate had burned within him as he had watched Ward directing the men, the guy had hurt Barbara and had made him do things that had unleashed the creature the Joker had claimed to of originally created. They were climbing into the vehicles now and Jason felt everything click into place, then slowly he detached from the shadows on the rooftop, a rocket launcher propped over his shoulder. Raising it he murmured to himself "Bye, bye birdie..."

Then there was the sound of the rocket launching a sit flew towards the first vehicle, he was already picking up his second tool, a second armed rocket launcher. He knew by now they would of spotted him. Especially since the rocket fired by the first launcher had struck its target, causing it to explode dramatically in all directions which in turn took out the vehicle directly behind it. Knowing there were only two more lorries left Jason offered those noticing him at last a jaunty wave before unleashing the second rocket. He noted it struck its target too, parts of trucks were flying everywhere as the explosion took out both in one hit. Beneath the bright red helmet was a rather large smirk as upon firing the rocket Jason pointed at the man he knew to be Ward and offered him a mocking Hydra salute before using the smoke rising from the scene to his advantage, it was time to disappear.

The sound of the rocket launcher round hurtling towards the general area processed in Ward's mind just as it happened, and he instinctively threw himself away from the two vehicles that were about to blow up. And blow up, it did. Shrapnel and parts flew everywhere, even piercing a couple of his men and causing them to fall. "Down, and away from the vehicles!" Ward yelled out to his men. They immediately scrambled for cover, and the second rocket came. The remaining two vehicles went up in flames, and Ward looked up to where the shots had come from.

A man in a red helmet was up there, giving him a mocking HYDRA salute. And the build, stance, even the manner in which he teased...Ward knew that.

    Jason.

Smoke billowed up from the wreckages, but Ward wasn't going to let that stop him. Ward immediately burst out of the smoke and fired several shots up at Jason on the building.

He would of loved to of stayed behind and fought the men of Hydra, made them feel his true wrath but he'd already completed his mission which was to destroy the weapons. He also knew that Hydra was not like the typical gang of bad guys he'd dealt with back home, his time among them had taught him that and if he was going to take them on in an all out fight he would rather have it on his terms, in a playground of his making. So instead of sticking around he did as he had first thought, using the smoke to mask his escape he vacated the roof top he'd been on but not before he heard the sounds of bullets whizzing by where he had just been stood and he did not doubt that it was Ward who fired them, for only that man would recover quickly enough to already come after him guns blazing.

Once off the building he duped the empty rocket launchers with an explosive on a timer ready to destroy them even as with talents he'd picked up over the years he moved through the area at a run, before using his cable gun to journey up upon the next rooftop, which he ran across and as he did he heard the small explosion where he'd dumped the bulky rocket launchers, glancing behind him he watched dirt rise into the air, pieces of the guns mixing with the grime to rain back to earth as heavy pieces. It was one quick glance, then he was fixing his gaze ahead, vaulting over a gap between rooftops and making the gap between himself as well as any surviving members of Hydra wider.

As hidden beneath his red a smirk was growing as he continued to demonstrate his athleticism over the roof tops, only using the cable gun as a last resort. He was nearing the location he'd left his bike now and so via a connection in his helmet he powered it up but did not draw it out from its hiding place yer as he took a second to pause on the edge of the rooftop he was currently on, to look back in the direction of the ambush he had successfully managed to accomplish on the Hydra convey. The smoke curling up into the sky from the attack pleased him, it also felt like a burden was lifting from his shoulders, the ties were now fully cut from Hydra, he was not afraid and the Red Hood was back.
