    @Amy Pond

It seemed that after Christmas, business was a little quieter than usual, but that might also have been because the Doctor had decided to close up the shop early today. He had heard a little rumour about something which he was positive he had go and investigate as soon as he possibly could. Snow had fallen outside and he had taken the chance to call it a snow day in work, even though he was the only person working here and people were still able to get around outside. The Doctor hadn't been getting that much business recently, though someone had pointed out to him that the, 'Go away.' Sign he sometimes displayed on his door probably wasn't helping him out so much.

At the moment, he was loading things back onto the TARDIS. Most of the 'antiques' which he had placed to make the shop look, well, busier than it actually was, were from the TARDIS itself. He did need some of the navigation material back though as where he was going was underground and he wasn't sure what types of interfaces or problems this world might throw up for him. The Doctor continued to work, going in and out of the TARDIS both knowingly and speedily. He wanted to get off as quickly as possible and explore this underground city he'd been hearing so much about.

At that moment, as he was loading more things into the TARDIS, he heard the doorbell ring. The Doctor had piled up the boxes in his hand too high and he couldn't actually see who it was who was in his shop, despite being quite close to them, "Closed, sorry." He said, trying to slide casually back into the TARDIS, "Come back another day-"

The snow crunched under Amy’s boots as she made her way through Pandora Town. She decided to go and see The Doctor (not that she’d told him, but did she really need an invitation?). She hadn’t got a chance to talk to him lately, and a lot had happened, which included rebuilding her friendships with Rose and Clara, two of his companions who had previously been in Pandora.

She was happy they were all reunited, even if it was weird getting used to yet another new Doctor. It was surprising to see him so different again; both her Doctor and the previous one in Pandora had been young with dark hair. This version, although still tall, had a more lived-in face, with silver hair. None of this bothered Amy, as she was just glad he hadn’t disappeared forever. If only she could see Rory again. She did think of him a lot but didn’t allow herself to mope.

The shop soon came into view. Amy had never imagined The Doctor settling down anywhere, but she knew how limiting Pandora could be when it came to time-travel. She’d ended up having to explain to Rose and Clara that they couldn’t just escape in the TARDIS as all of them had done many times before in their own universes. Seeing the hope fall from their faces had been hard to watch.

An antique shop, full of old relics and artefacts from other worlds, fitted someone like him. He could talk for hours on all sorts of subjects, so she knew he wouldn't get bored easily, especially with so many different species in Pandora. Amy stopped outside and seeing no signs of life, rang the shop’s doorbell. She soon heard the muffled voice of The Doctor announce that the shop was closed.

Before he could finish his sentence, the redhead interrupted, “It’s me! Open up.”

The voice forced the Doctor back up and into the general area of the shop. He didn't really need the company, or at least that was what he liked to tell himself. However, what he really didn't need was the wrath of Amelia Pond if he didn't let her into his shop. He crossed the space easily and opened up the lock, allowing her space to enter in the shop. "Your wish is my command." He said, gaze sweeping the floor before finding her again.

He stepped back into the shop to give her a bit of room instead of staring at her straight into the room, as though he was expecting something. He hadn't seen enough of Amy, he realised, since he'd arrived in Pandora, but then again he had been busy making this a business which actively dissuaded customers from coming in. Apparently that defeated the objective, but the Doctor did like his peace and quiet.

"What can I do for you today?" He asked, though from the things which were strewn around the shop and the open TARDIS door it would be quite clear to her that he was about to hop off somewhere.

It didn’t take long for The Doctor to respond, and she entered the shop easily, kicking her boots at the door to get the snow off them. Her attention was immediately drawn to how empty the shop was. It had been some time since she’d visited, but there was stuff laid out everywhere. Plus, the TARDIS door was open. So that was why he’d had the door locked.

She was puzzled at where he could possibly be off to, and that he hadn’t told her, or anyone else such as Rose or Clara. The subject of them was something she wanted to mention, but she didn't know how. So instead she opted to say, “Can’t a girl just swing by and visit? I haven’t seen you in a while, so…”

Amy took another look around the room and picked up various objects as she did so, examining them with mild interest, before turning to The Doctor.

“Either the shop’s doing really well or you’re goin’ somewhere.”

The Doctor didn't mind company of course. Especially from someone like Amy. She was beautifully direct with her Scottish accent which was only rivalled by his own. The Doctor took a moment to wonder if that's where he'd picked it up from on his regeneration.

"The shop is always doing well." Even better when there were no customers in his opinion. That was just his personal preference though, and he had been told it might not be the best way to run a business. He was still working on it. "I was about to go somewhere." The Doctor took a moment, and then his eyes flicked from the floor to Amy's face. He knew she'd love this.

"I've heard about some underground caverns, somewhere unexplored, mostly uncharted.... Someone mentioned them to me here in the shop yesterday." The Doctor grabbed a large piece of machinery which was used to document oxygen levels and shoved it into the opening of the TARDIS before poking his head back out to look at Amy, "There's room for one more?" He wasn't even sure he had to invite her, he was sure he had piqued her interest enough.

Amy wasn’t sure whether she should believe The Doctor, given that the last time she’d been in the shop was empty. She quirked a brow, her arms folded, but other than that didn’t respond. Not until he also mentioned he just happened to be off somewhere. Yep. She knew it.

Although she could be a master at maintaining a poker face, as The Doctor met her eyes her lips quirked into a smile as he began to explain about some underground caverns. She’d missed this and…he was definitely going to ask her, wasn’t he? Why bother mentioning it at all if that wasn’t the case?

“Well I might have to check my calendar first...” Amy joked. She was sure he knew her answer already; like hell would she pass this up. She stepped towards the TARDIS door where he'd gone and then realised she hadn’t seen inside this Doctor’s ship yet; how different would it be? She turned to him, and said confidently, “So. When can we leave?”

The Doctor quirked a brow in her direction when she said she'd have to check her calendar, "Well, you know if you can spare the time-" He got in before she asked when they could leave. He hadn't doubted her for a moment, not really and he grinned in her general direction, loading another piece of equipment onto the TARDIS. The inside of it now just resembled a cluttered version of his shop; around the entrance anyway. He was hoping to get some data on the area while he was here- might as well use the experience as a dual purpose.

"Right now actually." He said and then disappeared in the TARDIS, only to reappear a moment later, "Just lock the door behind you, wouldn't want anyone taking my inventory while we're out." He then went into the console room, brushing over the console and bringing it to life at his touch. The Doctor realised at that moment that Amy hadn't been inside this particular interior before, and he couldn't help but grin with excitement. It sometimes took a fresh pair of eyes to help him see what was in front of him.

She was glad this Doctor still had his sense of humour and knew when she was joking. Her face lit up as he mentioned they could leave right away; good, no waiting around. That was something she never liked, for obvious reasons. They could just get straight to it.

Amy nodded at his request and quickly went to lock the door, before she stepped forward into the TARDIS, bracing herself for what it might look like now. She remembered another control room they’d briefly visited, and that had been very different, all grungy with coral pillars.

The redhead craned her neck as she walked through the doors to take in every detail, minding that she didn't fall and break something on one of his many pieces of whatever it was scattered about. Gone were the copper coloured walls and glass floor. The console, as she recalled, was sort of the same shape, but with markings above it that she guessed only The Doctor understood. Everything was bathed in a blue light, darker and tiny lights adorned the walls on a balcony, flashing in sections.

It was very different, but familiar at the same time. Pretty, but less…maniacal than her Doctor’s, she guessed. Not as quirky. But it still felt amazing, being back here.

“Well, you certainly know how to redecorate,” she finally said, meeting The Doctor’s gaze with a grin and her hips on her hips. “Can’t say you’re not still full of surprises.”

The Doctor closed the door behind them and just watched as Amy took in every detail of the new console. He looked at it all occasionally where she was looking, as though he too was taking it in for the first time, mouth slightly ajar, gawping at his own TARDIS. That was before he brushed straight past her, slightly manically, and held onto the console like it might explode, or just like he’d caught himself in the middle of a thought. While she was still looking he punched some co-ordinates into the console, setting up the data tracking systems alongside it. He looked back at her when she spoke; a grin slithered up one side of his face,

“Well you know, a lick of paint goes a long way.” His shoulder shrugged, “I had some free time, a long night and I fancied a bit of a change.” He explained, looking around and then pointed, “And I got a chalkboard.” It was very important to him, that chalkboard and he was quite proud of it; it held some of his odder thoughts from time to time.

However, they weren’t here to discuss interior decorating, they were here to travel, and they would. “Ready?” He asked, hand on the lever which would throw the TARDIS into flight mode.

A bit of a change,” she repeated, amused. She looked to where he pointed; obviously, the chalkboard held some sort of mythical importance she couldn’t see. “I guess that not just to write your shopping list on then?” Amy deadpanned; knowing The Doctor, it would probably be filled with all sorts of odd ramblings only he could decipher.

She skipped over so that she was closer to the console, leaning her hands gently on the edge of it. She’d never been an expert on how to pilot the TARDIS, but it was always interesting taking the bits and bobs that served as the controls.

The redhead hesitated a moment, barely able to contain her excitement, before confidently stating. “Always. I take you’re not going to shout “Geronimo” anymore when we take off?” She lightly ribbed him.

"Shopping list is on the back. Don't let Clara know that's where I've moved it to." She'd only add human things on it, and British ones at that. Not that he didn't like having things of his companions hanging around the place, most of the time it felt like they had moved in. He'd never tell them that though, but he was sure that they knew, which was why a cup of tea was often left half drunk or a coat was left slung over the side of one of the balconies.

When he had his hand on the console, the lever which would mean he could throw the TARDIS into flight mode, he cast a glance aside at Amy. He gave her a deadpan sort of look and shook his head at her, "No, no I'm not going to say that." Then, without warning he pushed the lever and the TARDIS took off out of the antiques shop at such a force the Doctor was thrown from the console and landed square on his back.

Amy wondered exactly what sort of things he’d put on there, “What sort of shopping?” From the way he told her to keep it a secret, she figured loo roll or milk wouldn’t be at the top of his list. Perhaps she might just let it slip to Clara after all…although she already knew nothing got past the brunette; she was incredibly perceptive. But she guessed most of The Doctor’s companions were nosey in some way or another…he probably wouldn’t have allowed them to travel with him if they didn’t go blindly looking for trouble at times.

She smirked at his reaction, as she thought he would. At least he could still take a joke and a bit of teasing; it would’ve been pretty awkward otherwise. Amy had barely any time to get a proper hold on the TARDIS before The Doctor directed it to take off and she was thrown backwards, landing on her side as the ship bounced around.

She started to laugh, moving long strands of hair from her face; yeah, she’d definitely missed this. “Whereabouts are these caverns then? And don't be all clever and say 'underground.'” Pandora worked in strange ways; she knew even the TARDIS was restricted to travelling certain ways, given that The Doctor hadn’t found a way out of here. “I know you said they were uncharted... but does even the TARDIS not know?”

The Doctor just shook his head. It wasn't anything too ridiculous and mostly consisted of things which were ridiculously of the British human taste like tea, biscuits and all the things he really did like but liked to pretend were an inconvenience for him to have to purchase. "Ask her about it." He said flippantly with a wave of the back of his hand to the board in question as he got up off the TARDIS floor, rubbing the small of his back with his other hand.

He smirked at her, even in this body it felt like she knew him better than he knew himself sometimes. The Doctor chuckled, "The TARDIS can pick up on areas, doesn't always need co-ordinates or a specific location, that's not the way she works." He paused, "The caverns themselves are in the mid west region, no one knows how far they stretch." The TARDIS wasn't like a sat-nav, she didn't need him to be explicit about where he wanted to go, sometimes she just knew and took off. Other times he had to be explicit, especially if it was somewhere he knew she did not want to go.

Eventually the engines came to a whirring halt and he pulled the monitor forwards so that he could scan for anything which might be hostile. "Shall we take a look?" He then asked her, making note that there didn't seem to be anuything the TARDIS was picking up in the immediate vicinity.

She smirked at his response; she could imagine it’d be human things he didn’t really want scribbled all over his board. Yeah, she was definitely mentioning this to Clara. “Maybe I will,” she said nonchalantly and shrugged her shoulders innocently.

Amy nodded; she was excited to actually go on a proper adventure into the unknown again, something that neither of them knew. Sure, it was ridiculously dangerous, but when had that ever bothered her? She just wished Rory was here; it felt weird not having him by her side.

She glanced briefly at the monitor too as The Doctor brought it round, beaming as he questioned her. “Can I go first?” The redhead asked, and without waiting for an answer, ran towards the doors, opening them slowly.

Surprisingly, it wasn’t dark like she might’ve expected. Sunlight poured in from apparently nowhere, but there was a faint sound of rock cracking in the distance and it clearly looked like no one had ever lived here.

The Doctor inwardly grimaced at the idea of Amy and Clara swapping stories; he'd only witnessed it really with Sarah-Jane and Rose before now and he didn't want it to be repeated. Each companion was like a fresh start for him, Pandora had brought a few of them together and it felt a little strange to him. In a good way, he supposed. He had his friends around him, from different times; such things would never have been allowed back home with the Time Lords; it had never been possible, only at times when time had been in real flux.

His eyes went up to Amy as she asked if she could go first. His gut was to tell her no, just to wind her up a little but he couldn't humour it today. So, with his palm spread wide he gestured towards the door after opening it remotely from the console, "Be my guest." He said, as this new place opened up to the pair of them.

Amy knew The Doctor probably could see right through her innocent expression, or maybe he didn’t care either way. Having his companions together from all different points in his timeline was probably weird for him, to say the least. Yeah, this Doctor was definitely less human than hers had been, but she saw glimpses of the Doctor she had known.

She almost skipped out of the doors but knew it would be stupid to just go racing off. Knowing her, there’d be some great big monster lurking, or the ground would open up and swallow her whole.

“Where do you think that light is coming from?” Amy asked, placing her hands on the nearby rocks, trying to see any cracks in them. She stepped backwards, and felt the floor below her sink slightly, as though she’d stepped on a button.

Suddenly, a collection of very rusty looking blades appeared from the ceiling and rolled towards her head with some speed. The redhead just managed to duck underneath them, landing in a crouch. She wasted no time in looking back to The Doctor and hoped he was still near the TARDIS, out of reach.

    “Doctor, look out!”

Light never just happened at first; there had to be a cause of some kind. Though what that cause was, the Doctor had no real idea at the moment. It was more than a reflection of the light from inside the TARDIS, "It might be a leak from the surface." He said with a roll of his shoulders, flicking out his sonic screwdriver to take in the surroundings. It was dark but he could see a reasonable distance, much more than should have been possible that far down in the middle of nowhere. The Doctor hummed to himself and pocketed the screwdriver again. He was satisfied it was nothing horrifically toxic or something which was going to kill them in a moment. Wonderful.

He heard the cracking above him before Amy shouted, taking cover just inside the TARDIS. The blades littered around the blue box but none struck it. That meant it wasn't going to have to repaint anytime soon; there were always silver linings with these things. The Doctor hopped out of the TARDIS and began to examine the blades, looking up at where they'd come from. "Are you alright?" He asked Amy, before looking too engrossed in the blades, scanning them as he had done to the light source. "These are man made, nothing naturally forming here." He commented, which really begged the questions about what kind of society had lived here and why it had been abandoned.

To her relief, the blades missed both The Doctor and the TARDIS; it seemed he’d been ready to dodge them before her warning. “Yeah.” Amy answered at his question, catching her breath. “All in one piece.” She gestured to herself, before also taking an interest in the blades too.

“So…whoever lived here must have wanted to keep people out…or in.” It would take a lot of effort to engineer a trap like this. The redhead looked at the floor, trying to pinpoint where she’d stepped. She soon located a tile, which was pretty normal looking, apart from it was slightly more raised than the others. “There might be more of these, better keep a close eye on the floor.”

She stepped forward, taking care this time. There was no sign of life ahead, just the cracking of faint rockfall somewhere in the caverns.

The Doctor appraised the situation, the glowing elements and the things which were dropping out of the sky at her. He grimaced a little as he walked towards Amy, making sure he watched where he was walking so that he avoided accidentally stepping on anything which might trigger yet another alarm or trap. He sighed to himself and rubbed his fingers on his temples. He liked seeing new planets and new spaces, but similarly, he was weary about what he might uncover here.

"This civilisation obviously had something to hide. Or perhaps they didn't trust the other communities." The Doctor mused with a grin as he looked over at Amy, "What do you think?"

“Well, it wouldn’t be us if we didn’t stumble onto yet another mystery,” Amy returned his grin. “Whatever it was, they were already well hidden…they must’ve been paranoid to go to such extremes.”

The path widened a bit as they carried on, more light falling down until they came a clearing of some kind, if you could call it that underground. A ornate looking door was in front of them, along with a few pieces of floor that had holes in, with spikes sticking up, and one or two unfortunate looking skeletons ensnared within them, a sight which Amy grimaced at.

At either side of the door were two mechanisms, that latched onto the door to keep it shut. Two large round levers were at the left and right of the room, but on further inspection, one appeared to be broken.

((I hope this is okay! I was inspired by Tomb Raider, haha.))
