Pandora had a lot of dangers, but Talia was not a victim. She was used to being underestimated(thought mistrusted was more usual in this land for complicated reasons) and not considered a threat in a place where dragons flew next to prehistoric dinosaurs, but she had been trained from a very young age to be able to kill men three times her size without them ever realising the danger and even dabble in the occult and mystic forces for more power and protection. She also had the good sense to not rush into fights she could not win with a direct approach and instead use other means at her disposal to gain a satisfactory outcome. So she was her own force to be reckoned with, even if she did not commonly strike without a reason.

And yet, the tribe of shamans that resided in a rocky part of the desert with granite hills had managed to outmatch and subdue her. She had used words for convincing and swords when the words failed, but they had casted spells that she could not fight against, summoning the elements that surrounded them and the spirits of the animals. She would find it quite extraordinary if she was not on the receiving end of the shamans' malice and fury. Because as she soon discovered, those men and women did not want to protect the environment they lived in, but instead to absorb its power and leave it dry, barren and dead.

Her father would have been disgusted and she was quite appalled. But he would have used a way to turn the fight to his favour and erase them, while she lied beaten and bleeding, tied for the vultures to devour. Her left leg was broken and bent in an unnatural shape. There was fresh wound on her shoulder that was dripping blood to her white shirt. Her left cheek was bruised and cut and she could feel blood in her mouth coming from some inside wound. Her whole body ached and the binds that tied her made the situation worse, but she had survived through more anguish and pain.

Survival instinct kicked in and she fought against her restraints. As far as she could tell she had been left alone and now was the time to break free if she did not want to be eaten by the giant shapes of aggressive birds she saw at the horizon. She crawled against rocks, trying to find one sharp enough to cut through the rope that was binding her hands together. After a while, her wrists bled and stained the ground red but she kept going. She managed to cut herself free as the three distant flying beasts approached. With running not being an option, she tried to limp her way to a more protected place, before the vultures were able to kill her.

Lara had been in Pandora for about a month now. Her arrival here had been “rocky” to say the least. But she was nothing if not determined and that classic Croft stubbornness had shone through. Which was why, despite the numerous warnings she’d received from residents of Horizon, she was now out in the middle of this desert. She was looking for ruins, but the other tales she’d heard from locals had intrigued her; stories of travellers disappearing, dangerous creatures roaming the sands and hostile groups of people who no one ever saw.

Had it put her off? Definitely not.

The brunette was attired in her usual style. She had a backpack full of supplies and a bow slung over her back. She hadn’t been able to acquire a gun just yet, but she also had a pickaxe (not as sturdy as her own, but it would do) and a knife in her right boot. One or two bandages were still wrapped around her limbs in places, not fully healed from her tumble down the mountain.

Lara stopped, her body tensing as she spotted a figure in the distance. Her hand went to her quiver, but she hesitated as the person came into view. Immediately, the brunette could see it was woman, a woman clearly suffering from some extreme injures. Blood stained the sand around her and it looked like she was trying to get away…away from what?

She shifted, peering around the woman and it sooner became clear they were not the only ones here. Vultures were heading towards them, fast; they had picked up the scent of blood. In one fluid movement, Lara grabbed her bow and drew an arrow, side-stepping to get a better aim. It would prove to be spot-on, as one of the vultures dropped to the ground, an arrow embedded in its chest.

But the fight was not over yet. Two more still loomed.

“Get behind me!” She shouted, moving closer to the woman as she readied her bow again.

Ava had gone out. She'd left a note to the others to explain where she was heading and then left. She would return but for now she needed some time alone without the other Legends hovering. Normally she tolerated such things, this time she was more frayed than usual. Feeling a little under the weather was nigh impossible for her yet that was what she felt. Chalking it up to missing home, she had gone to prove that everything was okay.

Which was how she got into this predicament right here. Trained in combat, with a gun on her person, she was a force to be reckoned with. But the large dark shapes in the skies screeching for blood wasn't what she aimed her sights on. Someone else was already firing arrows and Ava turned to the woman that seemed to be running from the creatures.

This kind of chaos reminded her of home and despite herself she smiled sadly.

Ava rarely left home without some sort of supplies on her and so she ran towards the injured woman, reaching out for her in case things proved too much and she fell. "Easy, I'm here." She looked up in time to see one of the birds fly directly towards the pair, ignoring Lara entirely. Instinct drove her to drop to the ground, and if Talia had allowed Ava to grab her then she might fall with her.

Pulling out her gun she fired a couple of shots that tore into the birds wing and causing it to careen off and crash into nearby rocks.

She held on to the rope, as her only defense against the beasts. She could have tied a rock around it and use it as a weapon, if she had the time, so she tried to move as fast as was humanly possible given her damaged leg. Her heart was thumping in her chest and her breath came in pants but she kept going, leaving a trail of blood behind her that revealed her position. She might had no other choice but to fight.

But then, she heard the sound of an arrow flying in the sky and then the screaming of one of the vultures as it hit flesh. For a brief moment, Talia stood, surprised and bewildered at the sudden turn of events. She never expected anyone to come for her rescue and she was more inclined to think that the old magicians had returned, but then she saw the young woman with the bow and she knew she had help. So she tried to run behind her, still holding to her rope, but the pain did not allow her such luxuries and she let out a pained scream. Her eyes filled with tears and sweat, momentarily blinding her, but her other senses were enough to alert her for any danger.

Then she heard another's words and she turned in confusion, but they were reassuring, especially now that the odds were more even towards the side of the people against the beasts. She still found it hard to put her whole trust in others so her body tensed when she was grabbed by the blonde woman, but she fell to the ground nevertheless. She allowed for a moment to pass before she wiped her eyes with her hand, flinching at the open wound in her shoulder. But she could at least lift her arms, which was the most important thing at the moment.

'Do you have any more of those? All my weapons were taken from me.' she finally spoke, looking at the gun with eyes filled with gratitude, then turning her eyes to the bow and its master further away than her and the blonde. She appreciated the rescue, but it embarrassed her to feel useless, especially when there was another vulture in the sky, that had witnessed the others' death. And it was angry.

Travelling around Pandora had provided Ruby with enough information. The various towns and villages helped her stock up on supplies, yet her greatest need was still being decided. Her journey across this new world was to see what her future would be, sadly she still couldn’t decide on the correct path. It had been weeks since she snuck out of a room in the inn, and right now the young huntress knew all to well that her big sis was going to be quite angry. Back before leaving she did leave a letter, so hopefully Yang would have understood her plight, for now the teenager focused on the road before her which took her westwards across the Arid Plains. The weather and the sea of sand didn’t quite help the journey, but she had to decide her fate, so next stop was the town of Horizon. Normally if a person was wearing something that covered their shoulders, they would take if off in this hot weather, but for Ruby she didn’t dare take her cloak off, for it was a reminder of her beloved mom. With her bag pack sitting safely on her back, she could feel the softness of the sand upon her feet as she marched on. Soon though she heard gunshots being fired! In no time at all, Ruby raced to the source of the noise.

Standing upon a sand dune, she saw the scene before her. Three women stood side by side as they did their best to fight off some rather angry looking birds! Without no time at all, she wrapped her red cloak around herself. and raced across the air towards the battle field. Around the area where Talia Lara and the blonde Ava stood, they would soon see rose petals falling around them, as Ruby used her semblance to try and appear on the back. It squawked in anger, but she soon took out Crescent Rose as it extended outwards, and soon jumped off! Just after jumping on the head of the vulture, she somersaulted upwards but then brought the blade of her beloved weapon down through her intended target. It died an agonising death as it split apart…Literally! Soon she landed on both feet on the ground and held her weapon close to her shoulders as the young huntress soon switched the scythe in sniper mode as she ran over to the three women and kept close to them, to watch their backs as she said.

    “Hey! Are you guys ok?”

The other vultures would take no time following the first ones lead, Lara knew. She loaded another arrow onto her bow, just in time to see another woman run towards them. The brunette was grateful that the injured woman now had some sort of support. She however wasn’t ready in time for the second vulture to swoop down. Fortunately, the blonde also had a weapon and shot the creature from the sky.

Lara was about to move to their aid with her medical supplies. Unfortunately she had no other weapon with her apart from a knife, which wouldn’t do much good against the vultures and so shook her head. “Sorry.” She stopped and looked back to the horizon as another of the birds sped towards them, revenge in its features.

She raised her bow but was blinded by the sun. “Shit,” she muttered; she needed a better angle than this, but there was no time to change her stance. But then the strangest thing happened... rose petals drifted around the trio. A commotion from in the sky made her look back up as yet another figure wrestled with the birds – this time in the air! The vulture was torn apart, and the woman dropped to the ground, carrying an impressive looking weapon.

Lowering her weapon, she shook her head. “She needs medical attention.” Now she could take a better look at the damage to the fallen woman as there were more of them to keep predators at bay. The first thing Lara noticed was her leg; it was bent at a very unnatural angle. The brunette could also see a few open wounds, particularly at the woman’s shoulder and wrists. She set down her bow for a moment and threw the bag from her shoulder.

“We need to bind her leg and stop the bleeding.”
She took an arrow from her quiver; thankfully, she’d stocked up on ammo. “We’ll have to use this if there’s nothing else.” Lara briefly arched a gaze over her shoulder, searching for more vultures.

First of all she was not about to give someone her weapon. Not her standard issue weapon that would put her in major trouble if they actually had a time bureau here. It would break the rules, it would break protocol. Not to mention she had no idea if the woman would use it against the menacing vulture or if she would turn the weapon back onto Ava.

What she could hand over was a collapsible steel staff, handing it over without too much fuss. "It's stronger and more effective than it looks." Ava commented. Everything was happening a little too quickly to really get a good grasp on the situation, especially when another came along, killing one of the bird beasts. "I'm fine. Can't say the same for anyone else." Ava spoke in way of greeting.

She generally was the no-nonsense, to the point kind of person. Spending time with the Legends had mellowed her out a little though she was still staunch. "Before we bind anything we need to clean the wounds. If we don't then you're at a higher risk of infection." Ava directed this towards Talia. While she could go ahead and clean the wounds, it would hurt and she would rather get permission since she didn't know the woman.

She made a quick and rather snap decision as more vultures headed their way, screeching in the air. She gave Talia her gun despite not wanting to beforehand and then commented to all three. "If it's okay with you, I'll sort out your wounds while you all focus on the birds. Then we should get the hell out of here."

It was a wise decision to not hand her over the weapon she carried and Talia respected it. She would have reacted in the same way, cautious and suspicious as she was and she could not be anything but grateful as she took the staff in her hands, feeling a little more secure with having something to defend herself.

'Thank you.' she answered, her attention directed at the woman helping her. It was still a curious thing to become accustomed to, but she could not say she did not appreciate it. Then she lifted her eyes towards the sky, only to see the vulture being torn apart by a young woman with impressive powers. She supposed she could feel much more secure now, being in the company of women with powers, proficient with weapons and wanting to help her, but she was rather useless herself. She looked between the brown haired woman and the blonde, trying to speak with confidence and seriousness despite her pain. 'I will not die today. But I am.. grateful for your assistance and it seems that you know what needs to be done, so you may proceed. I can withstand pain.' Talia aimed to ensure them. She was not feeling particularly well, but she knew that she had survived worse.

Then she looked at the blonde in surprise when she ended up handing her the gun, but took it nevertheless with a nod of her head. She had been brought up in an environment in which weapons were significant to those carrying them, as a part of them, so they were not given to the others freely. She understood that other places held different views, but still it meant a lot to her to have it, temporarily. She held it with her uninjured arm and moved it towards the black dots in the sky, aiming at them and firing when needed without shifting too much so that she would not trouble the woman aiding her.
