March 6th, 1 pm, down in Pandora Town

The city had appeared in the sky one day and Asriel wanted to check it out.

The pillars had appeared from nowhere and really drew in his curiosity. First of all he had to sneak out, but after that last little adventure outside of the orphanage there were eyes on him more than ever. He looked at his window thoughtfully. If he could get that open, he could hop out. The goat thought about it for a second while his fingers found the latch. He was going to be independent sooner or later so what better time to start? Sure the caretakers were worried for his safety but they wouldn't be too concerned for much longer. He popped the window open, slowly making his way out to ground level. This was going to be great! Adjusting his shirt and pants, he ran off after his feet touched the grass, trying to make his way to one of the nearest pillars. Were those the elevators? He hoped so! He wanted to see this new city so badly! Asriel eavesdropped on some of the conversations being had outside the orphanage before he decided to see it for himself. Apparently it was a futuristic city! He had never seen one before. Well, he hadn't seen the rest of Pandora yet either. This was closer!

It was literally over his head!

He stopped running to try to see the city from where he stood. It was way too tall for him to see properly. The only thing he saw were moving clouds and pillars. He moved away from a crowd of people who almost ran into him while also looking up at the city in the sky. Seriously, some people shouldn't walk and be distracted. He was shorter than they were! Speaking of short, he really wanted to get up there but he didn't have any mode of transportation besides his feet. Someday he needed to learn how to ride a bike or something. Wait, he was able to fly while he was the God of Hyperdeath! Maybe he still had that power in him. Asriel focused his magic, trying to find that sweet spot for levitation. The best he did at the moment was creating a squat, short column of rainbow fire around him before snuffing out. Eugh. He had it then he lost it! Asriel did it so effortlessly back home, without even thinking about it! It came as natural to him as breathing! How'd he do it? A few people were looking at him strangely but didn't make any motion to call law enforcement. He recognized those faces and waved hi to them, "Howdy, uh sorry, I'm trying to remember something back home and it isn't coming to me. That short fire pillar was pretty cool though, right?" The people who were staring just nodded, also having recognized him as the harmless goat child who frequently wandered PT's sidewalks and occasionally did fire tricks on a corner as a street performer for the fun of it. Fortunately for Asriel, those people staring walked away.

He looked back up at the looming city above, thinking about how to get up there.

The trip to Pandora Town was relatively easy. Sure, it was a little over an hour of nonstop flying but Danny didn't rush and he'd flown for longer. Heck, he once flew across the country. Granted, that trip was under duress, exhausting, and he'd completely erased that trip from time so it technically never happened; but hey, he did it. Even so, the little trip form Misty Hollow to Pandora Town was practically a cake walk in comparison.

Rumor had traveled all the way to the creepy little town that a new city appeared above Pandora Town. Orbit City. Some kind of futuristic location that could only be reached via special tubes or flying. Getting in would be a cake walk. Besides, he could use a break from the drab spectacle that was Misty Hollow.

Danny, still in ghost form, descended into the town proper to get a bite to eat. He picked up a hot dog at a street vendor and was about to head to Orbit when movement caught his eye. A figure by a window. At first, Danny thought someone was trying to break into a house. He powered up a ghost ray when he realized it was the opposite. Someone was breaking out. A kid! Sort of. Probably. Okay, he was guessing since the guy seemed to be half goat or something, but he looked like a kid.

Powering down, Danny turned invisible and quietly followed after the escapee. He almost blew his cover too when the light show started. Poor kid. The goat boy reminded Danny of himself when he first got his powers. Danny knew exactly what it felt like to know struggle with strange abilities. How frustrating and embarrassing that could be. Smiling Danny let his invisibility drop.

"Yeah. That was pretty cool." said Danny, his voice echoing a little. He extended a gloved hand. "Hi. I'm Danny."

Asriel bleated in surprise when his eyes caught movement of a ghost fading into view, having been so lost in his thoughts that he didn't even see the action until the last possible second.

He quickly cut off the startled cry by clapping both furry paw-hands over his mouth, turning a little bit pink from under his white fur in embarrassment. When the ghost introduced himself Asriel giggled from the embarrassment of suddenly sounding like an actual goat, shaking his gloved hand with a friendly smile, "Howdy Danny! I'm Asriel. You caught me by surprise." He let go of Danny's hand, letting his arm lazily drop to his side. He got over being startled very quickly after he got a good look at the new introduction. This wasn't any ghost he had ever seen. Yeah he had seen a couple of ghosts but not one that looked like a human. He was used to the likes of Napstablook and even Mad Dummy. Asriel gave him a curious look, "Are you here to see the city too? I'm trying to get up there but it isn't working for me. Don't tell anybody from the orphanage that I'm out here." He tried again, the end result not being what he wanted. Instead he was on fire, rainbow hues licking the air around him before being put out with a mental command.

Aw man. Lame. No floating off the ground.

How did he levitate again? He knew he was able to do it. Asriel looked at the ghost in front of him. Well, even though he just met Danny, maybe he could offer some tips. The ghost was levitating already so why not, right? Maybe he could learn along the way up to the city! It sounded harsh but if he tried scaring it out of him, maybe it would work. If it didn't work he would go splat. What a way to go. Still, he had to try. Asriel was reanimated by determination so he was naturally determined to do this.

Danny winced at the bleated cry. He rubbed the ear closest to the child as it started to ring a little. If it wasn't for his advanced healing he might have worried about hearing loss. Thankfully, the ringing stopped a few seconds later.

The goat... child, introduced himself. All fear gone from his face. Just a friendly smile and a good shake. "Sorry about that." Danny said. "Didn't mean to spook you."

Danny set himself down so that he was standing next to Asriel as the younger boy chatted away. So he was going to the new city too? Guess that explained the sneaking out. A part of Danny wanted to do the responsible thing and escort the younger boy back home. However, the rest didn't see the harm. He didn't seem that much younger. Plus, if Danny stayed with him he could make sure the kid didn't get into any trouble. That was responsible, right?

Danny tapped his chin as Asriel made another light show. Danny straightened himself and crossed his arms over his chest in what he hoped looked like an authoritative display. "As a hero, I am obligated to take any runaways home." He smiled. "But, if said runaway were to go say, run into the city, it would mean I'd have to follow." With a wink Danny added, "Want a lift?"

"It's okay, no harm done. Sorry about your ears."

He didn't know when that quirk happened but it was a harmless, if not loud, quirk. Some people were also startled by the bleat but after realizing it was just the fluffy child, they went back to their business. Usually Asriel was just kinda there in the background of their lives but they'd get help from him on occasion. It was a daily thing in Pandora. Asriel listened to what the other had to say. Superhero, huh? Well there went his chances of seeing Orbit City. He wasn't going to be at the orphanage forever as much as the other kids wanted him to stay there. The kid was about to come up with a plan to get up there until Danny dropped an offer on him.

    "Oh yes please. Let's go!"

He made a new friend and this friend was a ghost! Asriel almost squealed, "I've never seen a space city before. I've never even been to a city in the clouds in general. This is gonna be fun!" He wasn't going to stay there in the orphanage. He wanted to see everything. It's why he slipped out of the orphanage every chance he got. The good, the bad, the weird, he wanted to experience it all. Maybe someday he'd get enough to leave Pandora Town and see the other cities. That would be so much fun! He made an excited noise. Asriel cut that off too, "Sorry, it's all the excitement. I don't want to break your ears."

"It's fine. A little hearing loss never heart anyone." Danny joked with a wave of his hand.

Grinning, Danny moved behind the goat child and cupped his hands under the kids armpits. Danny easily picked him up and jumped into the air. "Please keep your arms and legs in the ride at all times. Thank you for flying air Phantom." Danny laughed. The wind tossed his snow white hair as he flew higher and higher. It took only a few seconds to clear the buildings. They approached the floating city at a quick pace. Although Danny wasn't flying at anywhere close to his top speed, he wasn't going slow either.

Asriel excitedly chattered about the city. "Neither have I!" said Danny. "I can't wait to see what it's like."

Honestly, it was hard for Danny not to get excited. Orbit was supposed to be some kind of futuristic city with space-age technology. Just the idea that there could be a space ship somewhere in the city was enough to peak Danny's interest. He'd also heard there were robots, holograms, a flying pods. It was like something out of a comic book! Danny's excitement only grew thanks to Asriel. "I'm excited too."

Grinning from ear to ear, Danny brought them to the closest section and set Asriel down as soon as there was solid ground for the kid to stand on. Danny continued to float, his eyes wide as he took the sight in. The buildings were round! Bright colors and shiny metals came together to create the futuristic aesthetic. People stood on the sidewalk as it moved beneath them. Various shops surrounded them, all offering exotic items and food stuffs. The traffic was actually above their heads as flaying saucers, hover cars, and single passenger pods weaved through the air. A man ran past them as his robot dog dragged him past the shops. It was everything Danny could have hoped for an more.

    "Where should we go first?"

    "Yeah but- oh!"

He was flying! He was actually flying! Not on his own, but he was flying! Someday, Asriel would learn to fly on his own again. He wouldn't need to pay bus fare or take one of the mirrors to another place. It would be a great money-saver just to fly. Speaking of flying, Asriel was about to ask Danny something when all words died right then and there. They had made it to the city in record time and it was breathtaking! Everything looked almost bubble-like, with floating cars and tube pathways and Asriel couldn't help but make a noise of pure delight. He backed away from a man walking his mechanical dog, giving them some space as they passed by. Asriel was enraptured by the place and the locals didn't seem to care that they were there.

    Perfect!

He couldn't decide where to go, "Um... wow this place is amazing. I dunno where to start. Let's pick a direction and go there." Asriel was pretty much in heaven right now. Well, actually no not heaven but he was far above ground! He never thought he'd get anywhere above leaving a mountain but here he was in a city above the clouds in a completely foreign world! It was Danny's move now. He'd follow his new friend there.

Asriel suggested picking a direction. Sound plan. Danny nodded and glanced around for anything that might catch his eye. Frankly, it was hard to find something that didn't. This place was basically a space lovers dream come true and Danny wanted to see it all. Realistically, that wasn't possible. Not even with the duplicates he could make. At least, not in one day. If it wasn't for his obligation to Misty Hollow Danny might have stuck around the whole season. Unfortionatly, his duties as a ghostly guardian made that impossible.

A sign listing nearby attractions caught Danny's attention. He walked over to it and looked down the list. It pointed to food stalls, a shopping district, and listed a few places specifically by name. Danny tapped one about halfway down the list: The Gravidome. According to the sign, it was off to their right and only a few blocks away. It didn't say what 'The Gravidome' was but one glance in that direction was enough to know that whatever it was, it was big. The top of the dome poked out from above the other structures. It was painted in bright reds and golds with black accents. It was hard to tell, but Danny thought he could see the top a ball design.

Turned out, The Gravidome was an enormous zero-g ball park. It had multiple areas that offered a variety of different games. Anything from something that seemed oddly like soccer to plain old dodgeball to a game that involved dodging lasers. They even offered anti-gravity belts for a small fee. Danny, at least, didn't need one.

    "How's this?" Danny asked.

Asriel followed Danny around like a lost dog.

He didn't know what else to say about Orbit City. It was amazing! Words failed to describe the place. The moving sidewalks made it easy to get around and whoa so cool! It was like he was in a candy store, but better! What really made his jaw drop was the Gravidome. Asriel couldn't hold back the happy squeal anymore. He excitedly shouted, "LET'S GO TO THE GRAVIDOME! I think I have some money for the belts!" The goat child ran in the direction to the Gravidome, not being able to fly his way there yet. He counted his coin along the way, hoping he had enough for an anti-gravity belt.

He really wanted to fly again.

Asriel wanted it to be a surprise, unfortunately he couldn't get the levitation to work. He would be able to surprise Danny with his new (old?) trick! Maybe the belts would help with jogging his memory. He was going to make himself proud most of all. He had more hope than he had in months. The goat was going to get his powers back! It was possible! He just needed to work at it! There was his new goal. Get his Hyperdeath powers back!

    He couldn't wait!

Danny followed the eager goat kid. Although, Danny's own excitement wasn't anything to sneeze at. He marveled at the Gravidome, mouth agape as they stepped inside. The lobby was carpeted and mostly clean. There was a desk with a few clerks offering tickets to the various attractions and anti-gravity belts for those who needed them. One wall was covered in small lockers for storing personal items, although Danny suspected they needed to pay for those. A few scattered tables and chairs sat near Foodarackacyle and Dial-a-Meal machines (whatever those were). Little robots that barely came up to Danny's shin moved around, picking up trash and cleaning off tables with their spindly arms. Directly across from them and above them was a series of doors, each one labeled with the court they led to.

"Hmm..." Danny hummed as he looked at the offerings. "I'm thinking either Dodge Ball or Laser Escape. What do you think?"

To be honest, Danny had a bit of an unfair advantage in both games. He could warp his body to a small extent, making it easier to dodge and move around obstacles. It was one of the perks he got for being half-ghost. In truth, Danny just wanted the chance to feel like he was good at sports for once. Dash and the rest of the football team always wailed on him during P.E. Since his ghost powers didn't translate well when he was in human form, there wasn't much he could do about it. Now though, in ghost form, it was his time to shine.

Asriel had already got himself an anti-gravity belt and had it around his waist.

It fit nicely! His fingers accidentally brushed the sensor button that turned it on and he gently levitated off the ground. He knew it works at least! By the time he answered Danny's question, he was already upside-down, the belt working just fine, "Hmm. A good question! It's a shame we don't have time to see all of it. Let's go with Dodge Ball!" He had his fill of lasers. Omega Flowey had a laser, he had a laser, and Sans had lasers. Yeah he was good on that. There wasn't any shortage on that. Dodge Ball, though, was something he was familiar with except it was the child dodging magic and not rubber balls. The anti-gravity belt was a little wonky, occasionally turning him right side up as well as upside-down but he thought it would function well enough in a game like Dodge Ball.

After it flipped him right side up was when he turned it off by brushing a finger across the sensor button again.

The goat ran to the entrance to the Dodge Ball game, paying for the tickets to get inside. He got two, which were decently priced but unfortunately left him with only meager pocket change. It wasn't even enough for bus fare. It was enough for a few candies, however! Having done some street performing for the fun it had taught him currency as some people left behind some money after his performance was over. Learning the currency of Pandora would be useful for when he got a higher paying job. Donations were fine. Depending on his performance, he either got a little money or a lot, but somebody would always fork over money no matter what. Was he really that charming?

"I got the tickets! Here's yours. I'll meet you inside!" After Asriel handed Danny his ticket the eager goat ran to turn in his own ticket for Dodge Ball and get into the game!

    "Dodge Ball it is then."

Danny thanked Asriel for the ticket, although he couldn't help but feel a little guilty. He'd just let a kid younger than him buy him a ticket to what essentially boiled down to a theme park. Talk about low. So, he vowed to try and give Asriel the best time he possibly could in return.

Once inside the room they game began in earnest. Several other players were with them, both on their team and on the opposite side. Balls flew everywhere and could come from any direction. Small stationary barriers that hovered in strategic locations acted as shields. Danny was able to use his malleable body to his advantage, moving in ways that were impossible for a normal human to both avoid and collect balls. At one point in time the game switched from teams to a free-for-all.

Danny and Asriel spent the rest of the day there. When they got board of dodgeball, they moved to the other rooms. Danny even gave Asriel a few pointers that eventually turned into a mini lesson on how to fly. It was exhausting, but a ton of fun.

At the end of the day, Danny took Asriel back to Pandora Town and dropped him off in front of the orphanage. Before departing, he rubbed the little goat boy's head, tossing his hair in playful manner. "See ya Asriel." said Danny. "Try not to get into too much trouble."
