Chise Hatori, Empty House Off Adagio Grove, Graveyard

The keywords dinged happily, announcing Target Confirmed to the hand that held the phone, and the Phantom Thieves -- Plus their insistent guest -- were faced with an elaborate, wrought-iron fence.
The gate in front of them was embraced with twisting vines, metal reliefs of fae-like creatures entwined with them. The top of the gate had simply HATORI written across the top in the same, black iron.
The fence extended beyond the edges of the cognition, it seemed, encasing a dark grove of trees, in which scattered white tombstones could be seen in the dying twilight.
Mist curled across the ground and grass, twisting around their ankles and up their legs like grasping arms. A stone path, cracked, old, worn, grass and weeds growing through the gray slabs, leading further and further in, where the path vanished into the trees. It seemed as if things moved within those trees, both Shadows and... Things that weren't so much. Small eyes that fluttered like stars, and vanished into the darkness like wisps of air.

Here lay Chise Hatori's Palace. It was time for the Phantom Thieves to do their work.

It had been awhile since they did an actual Palace. Most of the time, it was small wandering Shadows that roamed around the Metaverse...or whatever Pandora's equivalent was. Wasn't like Momentos. Just a mirror cognitive city, rather than an underground labyrinth. Maybe this was how it should have been, without the rogue-God's influence. In truth, he liked it better. Far easier to explore and sight-see around the other reality, when it wasn't confined to small spaces.

Ren's neutral expression shifted to a smirk as the Palace appeared before them; attire changing to that of his Joker-self. Eyes glancing up at the graveyard before them - taking in the little details. Without Mona, it felt...wrong to take on a Palace. Even with the Oracle's guidance, it...didn't feel right.

But it was better they did this now, rather than wait.

    Chise needed their help.

Their normal tactic was to sneak in through the side. Either by climbing onto rooftops, or finding some sort of side or even back entrance. But as a warped graveyard, Joker wasn't sure there...really was another way in.

"Maybe...we could hop the fence on the side?" he half-asked the others, glancing over his shoulder - hands tucked away his pockets as he took it all in. A graveyard. It was...interesting, to say the least. Joker finding every Palace they took in fascinating in their own way. How people distorted their own realities was always so different from one another. After doing Kamoshida's literal castle, he sort of assumed they would all have similar themes. A castle made sense. But for others? The distortion was wildly different. A museum. A pyramid. A space port. A boat.

...Going back to school and getting into psychology might actually be an interesting thing for him.

But at the moment, there was a Palace to take care of.

Pandora was a world full of strange possibilities. Thanks to it, Chise was able to extend her life when otherwise she would've been dead already. Now, Chise had discovered something she wasn't quite sure if she understood completely, but that seemed like something she could use. The Phantom Thieves who steal people's hearts and make them confess to their wrongdoings, although she didn't understand the methods quite so well, she knew what the outcome was going to be if everything went well.

While she was able to start over in Pandora and had even found a family she was happy with, there were still loose ends that Chise wanted to tie up. For a long time, she had believed that her mother hated her so much that she resorted to suicide as a means of freedom, yet, Nevin exposed the flaws in her reasoning and now Chise wasn't sure what to think anymore. She needed to know the truth and she wanted to see it with her own two eyes.

This led to her following alongside the thieves after some insistence on her part and now... she found herself inside a graveyard, which was supposedly her "palace". She wasn't sure what that meant, she wasn't even sure of what to expect as she stepped in alongside the others.

"So... this is what's hidden in my heart?" Chise asked, glancing at her surroundings, managing to catch glimpses of eyes in the shadows that were undoubtedly watching her.

It was an overwhelming sight, that was for sure. Makoto hasn't expected Chise's palace to be so... grim, even knowing some of the context behind it. A graveyard and twisted forest, covered in fog. Makoto might have been intimidated before, but her mask was on and she was Queen now. The Phantom Thieves had business to handle.

"We could hop the fence," she said, agreeing with Joker as she brought a hand to her chin. She studied the gate and fencing for a moment. "Or we could break a section down where it's weak." She looked back at Chise and smiled slightly.

"Don't worry, it's always a little jarring at first," Queen explained to her. "This is the world your mind has created, but it can be changed for the better. That's why we're here, okay? We won't let anything bad happen to you."

Futaba wasn't sure why they'd brought the target along but if Ren and the others thought it was best she wasn't going to argue. This was the first palace they'd done in ages and she didn't want to interrupt things by sounding stupid or like she hadn't been paying attention. Besides, Pandora did everything differently; maybe this was part of that. Even if it did make her a little confused, deep down, that they hadn't just let her come along to the pyramid in the first place. And what would happen if things went really sour? Eh, well, they'd see. She'd always wondered if she could navigate everyone and anyone. Now she'd get to find out.

The graveyard was spooky- but it was also fascinating, with the way it was set up. Death permeated it in a dark sort of way- and an all-too-familiar one. This is my tomb. It would have sent a shiver up her spine if she'd realized the significance of it all- but she was very used to pushing those things away. Her pyramid wasn't here, the Sphinx wasn't either, and she had Prometheus around her, the giant black orb with its glowing rainbow lights to keep her safe. With the others having Chise to look after she'd need to pay very close attention to everything around them.

While Makoto talked to the other girl and Ren looked for a way in she rose slightly over the landscape, spotting out any trouble that might be coming. "Any idea what kind of Shadow presence to expect here, Joker?" she asked over the intercom inside Prometheus. "I'm getting all kinds of weird readings. But the coast seems clear so far."

Joker was still unsure about bringing the target. It was something they had never really done before. But with the context of everything, it made sense. Now wasn't the time to second-guess things. There was a treasure to steal.

"Let's not break anything," he decided, moving off to the side of the gate towards the side of the graveyard. Even if it wasn't a typical Palace, walking through the front seemed risky. With how little they truly knew of the situation - it seemed like a pointless chance to take. Hopping over the fence on the side would be safer.

His gaze shifted to Chise, offering her a soft smile as Makoto reassured her, "Just think of it as a giant metaphor," he nodded. This Palace was possibly one of the more normal ones they had seen. While the twisting went deep enough to form a Palace, it was more literal; meaning her cognition was less damaged then the average Palace. No castle, boat, space port. Just a graveyard. He knew the words wouldn't mean much to her, so he kept them to himself. Telling someone they weren't as bad as they could be, wasn't reassuring.

"Yeah, we've got your back," he added, as he found a piece of fence he liked. It was off slightly - making it a bit shorter then the rest. A tree by it, making it easy to scale. Leaving would be...harder, but they could likely just run through the front for that. Or find another way out. Likely...they'd just ask Oracle.

"Good," he glanced up at the Prometheus behind him, "And...not sure. The Metaverse seems to be different enough here..." he shook his head, "Honestly anything could be on the other side of that fence. Let's check it out," a smile finding his lips, as he smoothly climbed up the tree and hopped to the other side. Just as the Oracle had said - no Shadows immediately attacked him.

    For now, they were safe.

"Chi--" he paused halfway through saying her name, "Should we give her a nickname? We still don't know the effect of saying a real name within a Palace," he glanced at the others, "But do you need a hand getting over the fence?" he added - shifting his focus back to Chise - realizing scaling a fence was probably...not as easy for someone who wasn't used to the feeling of the Metaverse.

A world that her mind had created, a giant metaphor... Chise really couldn't wrap her head around all of this. It was all so strange, but the others were reasurring her that nothing was going to happen to her. It brought her some comfort, although she really wished she could understand this whole situation a little better. As it was, she couldn't help but feel like she was just going to drag them down and that was probably why they had thought it would've been better for her to stay behind

But there was no going back now and Chise had made her mind about this already. It looked like they were gonna be going over the fence to get inside, not wanting to go through the entrance just as a precaution. Oddly enough, Joker said something about saying people's real name inside of a palace. Was that why they used codenames like those?

"I... I think I can do it," Chise spoke with a certain hesitation that wasn't very reassuring.

She walked over to the fence and then began climbing it. She wasn't exactly being very fast, but she could definitely do it. Compared to a lot of things she had gone through already, climbing a fence wasn't that difficult.
