    SEPTEMBER 27TH, YEAR 108

After her meeting with Kurashiki the other day, Jasnah had been given a great deal to think about. As she’d feared, there were very few people around who remembered the Desolation. So far, Kurashiki was the first person in a high government position she’d met with who remembered — or the first who hadn’t been afraid to admit it. For all Jasnah knew, the officials she’d already met with hadn’t brought it up for fear of being considered insane.

She certainly wouldn’t blame them, even though it made her task more difficult. There was nothing worse than being unable to depend on your own thoughts, than thinking you were going mad.

Unfortunately, the only ones she’d found so far who remembered could be counted on her one hand. Storms, but her search was going to be a long one. Not even the Library of Holocrons had been very helpful, though the librarians there had been more than eager to provide her with a data crystal crammed with history books and a small device to read them on. Though they’d suggested she avoid using it in the Vales, for obvious reasons.

Maybe she could find a magical means of operating the device without needing a power source. But just in case she couldn’t, it would be a good idea to take a look at the books now while she still could.

She wandered around in search of a coffee shop, then spotted a flash of red somewhere overhead. Shading her eyes against the artificial light’s glare, she spotted a spacecraft gliding over towards — wait, that wasn’t just any spacecraft. She recognized it.

    It was a Lion.

“Jasnah, is that not one of those flying ships that was there the day Cascade Bay drowned?” Ivory asked from his perch on her shoulder. The spren was small, almost invisible to the naked eye, to avoid detection.

“It is,” she breathed, watching as it vanished behind some buildings. “If the Lions are here, then maybe...”

“Maybe its captain are?” Ivory suggested.

Pilots, she mentally corrected, but she was already heading in the direction the Lion had flown in as fast as she could, before she lost sight of it.

It was some time before Jasnah found her way to Elysium’s Undercity, and some time still before she discovered where the Lion had gone. She’d had to ask for directions and avoid (and occasionally intimidate) cutpurses before finding her way to a residential district, where five Lions stood proudly next to what seemed to be... a fairly ordinary house.

She approached cautiously, uncertain what to expect. Undercity was far more lawless than Overcity was, but not any different from any other city she’d encountered so far. Her gaze couldn’t help but linger on the Lions, but they didn’t react to her approach. They simply stood there, silent sentinels. Almost like the statues of the Ten Heralds in her father’s palace.

Jasnah rang what appeared to be the doorbell and waited.

He'd been out flying Red, doing work missions for awhile so it was nice too finally get home and relax. Besides he knew Allura was coming over because Lance had arranged for them all too be there that evening as he wanted too continue their movie education as apparently he and Allura did not know enough about modern pop culture, he just hoped whatever marathon they were going to be forced too endure that day would be better than the high school musical movies Lance had made them watch last time. Keith was fast learning cheesy musicals were not his favourite movies. He'd just gotten out the shower and pulled on some clothes consisting of some black pants, a red t-shirt, as well as an oversized black hoodie which belonged too Shiro when he'd heard the door go.

He could of sworn Allura had a key and likely was already there somewhere so who was ringing the doorbell? Ever the vigilant, wary one Keith made his way to the door, his hair still wet and dripping from the shower, but his eyes held a focused calm. His hand was settled on his sheathed Galra knife and he paused by the door a moment, before opening it just a crack, his blue, grey gaze settling on the being before him. A woman, elegant looking and regal in her posture, someone too fine to be hanging about where they lived. He eyed her warily before asking"Who are you?" His voice held a note of unfriendliness too it, Keith had let his family down before and had sworn never to do so again, so his gaze narrowed as a wave of protectiveness washed over him as he asked"What do you want?"

Jasnah didn’t have to wait long before someone answered the door, though her eyebrows rose in surprise at finding herself staring at someone so young. At first, she wondered whether she’d knocked on the wrong door, never having met any of the pilots personally. But then she remembered rumors she’d heard of the Lions and their pilots back in Cascade Bay, rumors that they were experienced warriors despite their ages. She just hadn’t expected any of them to be quite... this... young. Barely even into adulthood, she reckoned.

Undeterred, Jasnah smoothed her expression into something more neutral, aware that Ivory — shrunken down to the size of a piece of lint — was perching atop her shoulder, hidden amongst strands of her hair. Spren weren’t invisible to others, but Ivory’s size-changing ability was useful to avoid drawing attention.

“I’m a member of the Scholars’ Coterie, based in Cascade Bay,” she said, violet-colored eyes focusing on the younger man’s. She didn’t really expect him to know what she was talking about, but she was counting on him to recognize Cascade Bay as a name without having to reveal her name in public. “If this isn’t a bad time, I’d like to ask you and your fellow pilots some questions for my research.” She didn’t trust that they weren’t being watched, not in a place like this, and would prefer they had this conversation indoors. “It won’t take long.”

Another movie night. Allura wasn't quite sure if she was excited, or filled with dread. Likely some middle ground. While she loved learning more about "pop" culture (she still wasn't quite sure what made it pop), the films in choice were normally...questionable. Lance having to explain enough context typically, that she was barely grasping the edges of the film's plot by the time it was finished. Despite her questioning, she still wasn't quite sure if singing was a typical affair for high school students on Earth. It did seem rather counter-productive to their studies.

Either way, it was...nice to be somewhere where the Paladins had things familiar to them. While Pandora wasn't exclusively Earth-based, enough of its citizens were from there or an Earth-equivalent that it carried many similarities. Things Allura had only heard referenced occasionally now a reality.

She was happy for them, if not a touch jealous.

Allura pulled her hair up into a ponytail - simply wanting to release the pressure of having it in a bun all day, but not wanting to deal with it falling into her face. Part of her was half-tempted to cancel, but she didn't want to ruin Lance's enthusiasm over the eve.

Exiting her apartment, she hesitated - noticing someone just down the hall at the door. The Paladins' door. She didn't recognize the woman, putting her on guard a bit more then she would have preferred. Eyes narrowing slightly as she moved towards her. She could just hear Keith's voice, then the woman's, as she drew closer.

The woman knew they were pilots - not uncommon in Elysium - but seemed to be specifically doing research about...something. The lack of the word 'Paladin' or 'Voltron' caused Allura to relax slightly - possibly it was a randoms survey for those who used the docking area of the city.

"Hello," she greeted, clasping her hands in front of her, "Sorry - I don't mean to intrude. May I ask what your research was about?"

The way her eyebrows rose when she saw him had Keith wondering what she was so surprised by and he raised a single eyebrow in response, the rest of his scarred face was smooth of all emotions except a distinct wariness too his blue, grey eyes. Out of sight behind the door his free hand rested on the hilt of his knife in an idle fashion, but his entire focus was on the woman before him, he wouldn't fail too protect his newfound family, not again. The woman started speaking now, not deterred by his unfriendly edge and Keith listened, waiting for the penny too drop which it did in the name of their old home. Out of sight behind his back his hand slid down the knifes hilt too grip it, but the lady was going on speaking about wanting too ask research questions and distantly he noted Allura off too one side a curious expression upon her face. His gaze narrowed, he had an inkling of what the questions would be about just from the mention of the town they had abandoned too destroyed by painful memories too return.

Allura was speaking now, asking after the woman's research and Keith forced himself too relax, thoughts rushing through his head, he couldn't allow this woman too speak too the others, he had too protect them from all the pain that any reference too their old home might bring but he noted this woman looked unlikely too leave with nothing, so he knew something was going too have to give. His gaze flickered between the two women outside his door and then he spoke"I suspect that's a question for indoors Allura..." He made himself release the hidden grip on his knife and he fixed his gaze on the stranger, his eyes narrowed his face cold as he spoke"If I let you in, you are too speak too me and only me... We will go into the kitchen, you can ask your questions too me and if I see fit I will answer then you will leave." He glanced towards Allura before saying"Allura will mediate, if she is willing?" It was an offering too both women and it was all he was willing too offer if this was going to go where he thought it would, where as if he was mistaken he was fairly certain he could deal with the consequences.
