    The Calamity - Phase 2

The world was ending. Or something big was happening anyway, the sky had turned to Twilight, the very ground itself shuddered like the land masses were moving and there were cracks in the walls. Being what It was, It had trundled over to take a nosey at what was happening and watched as humanity had begun falling to chaos. People were dying as the volcano called Mount Pompeii spewed forth Lava, buildings were crushing entire families as they crumbled, communication was down. Really the only negative part of the whole thing was that for once It couldn’t take the credit for the disaster…although the sheer levels of fear across Pandora were delightfully electric.

It was like back in the days before civilisation, back in the days where mankind had huddled in caves for warmth and hid from the monsters outside. Just a permanent creeping fear that saw no end in sight, even when the sold light of dawn arose. It might have nudged a few people toward despicable acts of looting and stealing, fighting and killing each other, It might have fed gluttonously off those who fell prey to the fear too. It was like one giant recharge, a shot of adrenaline to the heart, where once chaos had been a death throw, this was no effort on Its behalf, just energy. It was enjoying the end of Pandora.

In the fleeting hours between the chaos though, IT returned to the lair it had carved for itself months ago when it had lain dormant, recuperating for It’s ordeal amongst the mortals. The place was deep beneath the group, beyond the sewer system of Misty Hollow and on the fringes of a strange Underground World that looked like it had been ruined eons before anyone above ground had appeared in this world. It liked the old Library on the very edge and had settled down there, carving out a cavernous hole in the main room that went up into the earth itself, this was the place It returned to when It needed to rest or to simply escape the world falling apart aboveground. Only now, as the hours went by it felt the earth moving down here too.

Dirt and old plaster crumbled a little like soft waterfalls and It watched with narrowed eyes as the dust settled onto tendrils of weblike structure that led into the cavernous hole. There were the floating bodies of children, drifting like dust through the air and they too bobbed in place before settling. On the ground a great mound of children's toys and belongings wobbled, knocking a few things off the top. They skittered and rolled across the floor. A couple of music boxes started playing of their own accord. How dare the gods of this world touch this place. Didn’t they know who dwelt here? It flexed a few cosmic muscles and wrapped Itself around the lair, sealing it all together and settling in snugly to ride out the worst. The place stopped shuddering and crumbling though on the outside It was still more than aware that the world was quite literally falling apart. Just wait, It considered to Itself, just wait until the very end. The fear would be almost overwhelming, just think of the feast to be had!

It was practically drooling at the thought.

The world was going to hell, ground quaking, winds knocking down everything in their paths. She'd heard Mt. Pompeii had even exploded into chaos quite literally, and for the first time in a very long time, Emma felt completely lost as to what to do. Get to safety seemed like a solid enough plan until you realized that there was no such thing as safety here. Everywhere she went there was chaos, and, truth be told, she couldn't even get far from Pandora Town. Those portals she'd always sworn not to use but was desperate enough to consider weren't even working. The sky was black and with every passing hour, she thought she could feel the end creeping closer and closer.

When those vines came for her, she'd assumed that was it. They'd torn from the ground around her in a frenzy, latching onto limbs tight, and Emma screamed. She screamed like a banshee as she tugged against them only to be pulled under, some random kid standing there watching with a stunned, wide-eyed look on his face. That was the last she saw of that kid, and that would be the last she ever saw of Pandora Town as well.

Next thing she knew, she was in the dark, hunched over on her knees as she caught her breath. She felt the death grip those vines had on her wither away until they'd left her alone and then, slowly, she lifted her head to look around her. She didn't know what she'd expected, but whatever it could have been, it wasn't this. It wasn't the sight of floating bodies in the air overhead a huge mount of what looked like toys. She could clearly see one of those toy fire trucks near the bottom of the pile. It was next to that stupid 'bop it' game. "... What the hell," she murmured to herself, and although at the sight of all those bodies, all those kids, anybody else probably would have tried to get to them, to help somehow, Emma found herself turning the other way.

But this place was still and quiet. They chaos wasn't reaching it, and she didn't know what that meant. Safety? Emma didn't buy into illusions of safety, which was why she was jogging toward the walls, pressing her palms to them, a shudder making its way down her spine whenever her fingers felt something that struck her as slimy or foreboding. But it didn't stop her from trying to find a way out.

It felt the intrusion of the vines like a personal violation, like someone had just gone and stuck their filthy cold mitts where they didn’t belong and deposited something It didn’t want there. It hissed and roiled at the sensation, how dare this world trespass into Its domain, this did not belong to the Others of this world. Then the vines were gone and there was a life down there, a person in the midst of it all and It peered down at her thought unseen eyes. A snack for the passing changes perhaps? Oh…it was her. Their paths did insist on crossing didn’t they? It considered ignoring her, hunkering back down and letting whatever came to pass, pass. Only he was poking around…she was prodding holes in the web with her adult reason and logic and It couldn’t allow that sort of rational thinking to get through.

“Stop doing that.” It warned in the whispering choir of a thousand children’s voices, drawing a breath that would make Its voice comprehendible by her human ears. It crept across the strange weblike structure near the ceiling, where the children drifted, It crawled down a dark wall, bringing light with It as it went. To her it might seem like some murky formless creature with too many legs, something her brain might interpret as a ‘spider’ though as it passed through shadow and stepped down onto the ground It became something else.

Two pinpricks of light in the darkness watched her, like cats eyes catching the light. They drifted quite high off the floor, then lowered and then began to move forward, revealing the form of a man. For a moment it was him, the nameless man of her nightmares that had captured her and begun to create her. But as the light lifted, the illusion revealed it was instead someone else. Someone taller, thinner, someone with bright blue eyes that she had once pushed into traffic and thrown out of her apartment. Robert Gray was smirking smugly as he came to a slouching stop.

”Like a rat in a trap.” He said, ”Why is it always you? Overhead and beyond Its reached the world shook once more, the sound roared softly in the distance. Robert looked up as dust sprinkled down and wrinkled his nose before looking back to Emma. ”You’re trespassing. I oughta eat’cha.” Suddenly he was up in her face with a deranged grin like he was trying to make her jump, Boo. he snapped in her face just to see if she’d spook or not…just to see if there was a chance…

Out of nowhere, there was a voice. Not a clear ringing voice, but a sea of voices and Emma found herself whirling around, her eyes immediately moving toward the all of those floating bodies. They were still otherwise motionless, but there was nobody else here. Nobody she could see, until suddenly she spotted it. Some kind of thing up there near the ceiling that she couldn't put into words for some reason. It was huge and in the distance light, it reminded her of some kind of spider. It sent shivers down her spine as she watched it descend and while her flight instincts should probably have kicked in by then, she felt mesmerized as she watched it, as though she knew something else would happen. It past through darkness and as soon as she couldn't see it anymore, she felt herself moving as though that was the kick she needed.

But then she stopped again. There were eyes staring at her through the darkness and as they came closer, the shape was different. It was the shape of a man, a shape of a man who was particularly familiar to her, and Emma stared with wide eyes, jaw clenched as though she were bracing herself for him.

And then ... it wasn't. It was just that fucking idiot, Bob, but Emma couldn't seem to look at him now with the same sense of total and utter ridiculousness the way she had before. Instead, there was caution, confusion, and the most muted sense of fear that she didn't know if she really even recognized beneath all of that confusion as her head tried to piece together everything she had just seen. He was a monster, he'd kept saying. He was a monster, and she'd laughed every fucking time, but now she couldn't get that thing crawling down from the ceiling out of her head.

The moment he was up in her face was the moment Emma's hard exterior slipped, and she jumped, suddenly backing herself up into the wall and, with it, the webs all over it. She froze where she was against the wall, her body stiffening all over, and for the first time since she had met Robert Gray, she was displaying real signs of emotion, real signs of discomfort. And she had no words for them at all.

There it was, the moment when she realised he hadn’t been kidding around. It was like a delayed fear response, like she wasn’t used to it being that out of control and it took a moment for her nervous system to realise it was needed and flood her veins with fear. For the first time since It had encountered this bizarre human with the stunted emotions and bravery in the face of destruction, she actually reacted like a normal human being. She jumped and backed up into the wall, into the strange weblike covering It was using to stop this place from falling apart. She was frightened, for the first time she was actually revealing frailty.

It didn’t follow her to the wall, but Bob’s face split into a deranged grin and he threw his head back and howled with laughter at her. A kind of hysterically rapid ‘hoo hoo hoo’ sound that might have been associated with a children’s clown, there was no pity or mercy or apology in it for scaring her. Just delight at her discomfort.

”The look on your face.” He guffawed, clutching his stomach. He wheezed out one final laugh and straightened up. The deranged grin faded away like he’d somehow forgotten to use his face to emote and for a moment there was a strange vacancy there as It abandoned the puppets form and ventured briefly into a place where fear energised It. Then Robert Gray spoke again in a reedy, inhuman whisper. ”The fear.”

Then in the blink of an eye he was back and the vacant expression morphed into amusement. ”What’s wrong, Emma, don’t want to push me into traffic again? Or-” He loomed towards her, larger than life, covering the ground until he was in her face again, ”Or maybe you’re afraid I’ll be as welcoming as you were and drag you out of my home and leave you out in the storm?” There was another cruel hysterical giggle and he suddenly grabbed wildly at her wrist in the same way she’d once grabbed hold of him to drag him out of her apartment. Only if It kicked her out the only thing out there now was death and destruction rather than a simple rain shower.

The fear that she was feeling wasn't something entirely unfamiliar to her. She'd just been so good at suppressing it after everything that had happened. Suppression probably wasn't even the right term. After all, things that should have reasonably alarmed a regular person didn't alarm her. Sometimes they amused her. And other things that should have been completely normal set her off. Emma's mind just didn't work the same way the minds of others did, and it was hard to put words to that.

Even as he started to howl with laughter, Emma didn't move, frozen there against the wall, just staring at him with wide eyes, jaw tight, body stiff as though she thought he might pull something right then and there. She'd just thought he was insane before, and maybe that was still the truth in some capacity, but now she knew. He hadn't been making something up, he was something else entirely. This was Pandora, it shouldn't have been a shock, she should have been fucking prepared, and a part of her stood there blaming herself for not taking him more seriously.

But then, nobody would have, not in that state.

And then he was looming toward her, and Emma felt herself straightening up a little bit, trying to force the fear back. It was a bit late-coming, though, because by the time he suddenly snatched at her wrist, it was all bubbling right back to the surface, her heart pounding in her chest. "No, don't-- no! Don't fucking touch me!" She knew what was going on out there, she knew what 'storm' meant, so she thrashed against him, trying to tear her wrist away from him, using her other hand to try to pry his fingers away and if that didn't work, then she'd fucking beat her fist on his shoulder, his chest, his back, anything she could manage to reach.

Her fear combined with the intense level of fear the entire of Pandora was feeling in that moment, was enough to make It giddy and drunk with the power and energy. So while the rest of the world crumbled and Emma screamed and shouted and thrashed violently against his grasping, grabbing grip, It was having the time of Its life. The more she fought the more Robert Gray laughed delightedly, he took her blows, swatted away the ones he felt like, grabbed and pulled at her arms each time she tore away from him. At some point in the battle it became childishly absurd because he started mimicking her, pulling an overdramatic sad face, he wailed fake theatrical crying sobs at her and copied what she was saying in a mocking tone.

”No don’t touch me, don’t!” He cried at her and added a particularly childish, Boo-hoo! at her before laughing hysterically again.

If It had wanted to It would have dragged her out of there no matter how she screamed and fought. It was no longer bound by Its mortal form, no longer limited by what that body could manage, weak as it had been. Now It was stronger, and yet Bob was pawing at her, rough but playfully. Like a cat tossing a mouse back and forth between paws, but not bringing out claws yet. After a little while of this viciously playful grabbing and dragging, It gave her a particularly hard tug and then released her abruptly to see if she’d keep her balance or fall over.

”How badly do you want to live, Emma?” Robert Gray asked, keenly watching her, cunning calculation behind his blue eyes.

He was strong. For some reason, he was stronger than she remembered him being as though their roles were suddenly reversed, but he'd kept saying that he'd been trapped in that body of his. So, what did that mean? He could transform himself? He could look like something he wasn't? Emma was almost reminded of Driver, but this was something so much more literal. One day, maybe she would think of Driver and put the pieces together. Maybe she would remember that glint in his eye at the prison that was so unlike him and realize just what was going on here, but she was focused on the broader image here, still trying to wrap her head around whatever Robert Gray was.

And trying to keep herself alive.

As though on cue, he suddenly released her after a disturbing series of childish mimicking that she would have scoffed at if she weren't busy shouting and thrashing against him. Before Emma could comprehend what was happening, she was losing her balance and tumbling onto her side on the ground, abruptly rolling onto her back and staring up at him with a guarded look, but there was a certain ferociousness behind her eyes. She wanted to live. She wanted to live so badly. "If you drag me out there, I will fucking drag you out there with me," she ground out, her chest rising and falling as she caught her breath, but not once did she blink her gaze away.

Emma landed on the floor and rolled onto her back to stare up at him. With a shit-eating grin, It stared right on back at her, there it was, that little spark It’d noticed even when It had been human. It knew that that spark was, that ferociousness was the depths she would go to to survive, but it was more than that too, there was something twisted inside her, a though her personal monster had planted a seed inside her head and then watered it a little. It had begun to grow but nothing was there nurturing it now so it had stopped. But what would happen if that little sapling was nurtured? What would happen if It fed the sapling instead? What kind of a mess would she make? Would it be like the Black Spot? Would it be the kind of cruel horror outside the gay club or the gang shootings in the street in broad daylight? Would it be murder and mayhem? How much fear would she make?

Bob snorted a laugh as she assured him she’d drag him out there with her. Which was pretty fucking rich coming from someone currently laying on the floor and extremely squashable. The right little leeway and all it would take would be a brick tumbling downwards and poof. But that would be a waste. It’d rather consume her than waste her and It already had plans that didn’t involve picking her bones clean.

”You don’t get it yet, do you?” Bob Gray grinned down at her, ”This-” He gestured at himself with a flourish, ”-is only what your insignificant little mind can comprehend. I am…beyond all this.” Another flourishing gesture to the universe in general, ”Why do you think the world is falling apart and yet here we are?” He laughed that mad, borderline deranged laugh again then suddenly stopped and jabbed a finger in her direction. ”Why the fuck do you think you’re still breathing? You think if I wanted you out I’d have to ask you nicely?” He stepped back and clutched his hands to his chest mockingly, ”Oh please get out, pretty please?” Another guttural little giggle, ”No, if I wanted you dead, Emma…you’d already be floating.” His expression fell into something sinister as he spun on his heel to look upwards, throwing his hands open like a conductor at a grand finale. Absorbing the silent applause of a couple of dozen dead children.

Above the figure of Robert Gray the children’s bodies floated. Some in better states of decay than others, they seemed to drift a little lower as if coming to Its call but he dropped his arms and turned back to look at Emma.

”Besides.” The deranged grin turned cunning and smug, ”You owe me." The voice changed suddenly and so did the man. Robert Gray was gone, someone very slightly shorter, stockier, dark haired and square jawed stood where he had been a moment before in a crisp white shirt and jeans. Emma's personal monster with no name looked down at her, "And you and me?” He reached out a hand and held it out to her, an offering to help her get up off the floor, ”We’re gonna have some fun with that fucked up mind of yours.”

It was hard to know what he meant, that what she saw was all she could comprehend, that he was somehow beyond all of this. But then, she thought she had an idea as her eyes drifted toward the mound of toys, the floating bodies, and then up, up, up toward the ceiling where that huge spider-like monster had been. Monster. Just liked he'd said. Even as she heard his words, Emma was still trying to wrap her head around everything she had already seen and everything he had already said. It was a lot to hear, a lot to try to pretend she understood.

Then he was gesturing to those bodies like some sort of grand conductor, orchestrating everything in this place. A part of her wanted to know more, why the bodies were there, who they were, exactly what he had done for them to end up there. It was a grim sort of curiosity, not necessarily one of concern, though it was just as well a curiosity meant to ensure that she didn't end up floating up there the way he had mentioned.

Those questions would have to wait, though, if her pride managed to subside enough to bring them to attention. Instead, her gaze shifted to him just as his voice changed. His voice, his shape, his height. Everything about Robert Gray was suddenly different and the face looming over her was no longer the same person at all. It was a face she knew well, better than she ever wanted to admit. It was the face that had stared at her across a dank, dark, and cold basement room for months. It had been a face that had stared down at her as she lay uselessly in the trunk of a car, and the face of a man who had found her hanging from a rope that tangled her from a tree as she screamed and thrashed, desperate for her escape.

It was the face of a man who had watched her through prison bars, only to walk her to her freedom.

    "You owe me."

It seemed to come together in her head as Emma's eyes widened. She ignored the hand that he was holding out to her and instead scooted herself backward, getting to her feet without his help. As though his touch would have been poisonous. "It was you. It was you, at the prison," she told her, and there was an edge of clear accusation there, though she didn't know if she felt better or worse about that.

It took her a while, she was a little slow on the uptake but maybe that was the shock of being here, of having her world literally fall apart, of realising the monster she thought might save her wasn’t her monster at all. Having spent some time trapped inside one of those tiny little brains It knew they were painfully slow to get going, maybe It could forgive her for that. If it had any pity in Its twisted heart. Which It didn’t, so when she finally got there and her eyes widened and she scrambled to her feet whilst ignoring the offered hand, Driver gave her an impatient roll of the eyes and a slow clap for putting two and two together. One clap. Two claps. Three. He gave her a disappointed look and tsked.

”Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner.” It crowed at her with Driver’s voice, though the mannerisms were now completely wrong and it was as though Robert Gray was wearing his face as a mask, ”Emma Ward, step right up and claim a prize!” He gestured theatrically to the pile of broken and discarded children’s toys and laughed wildly.

It said something though that she truly had believed her personal monster had turned up and waltzed himself into a prison and then walked her right on out like it was a walk in the park and nobody would stop them. It said something about the man himself that she truly thought he was capable of that (and wasn’t it just a shame he wasn’t here in Pandora!) but it said something about her devotion to such a monster too. That was the thing that kept It curious. It had never encountered a human who was terrified of something so strongly, but who at the same time walked right towards the very cause of their fear and even trusted that person. It wasn’t bravery it was something else, something It didn’t quite understand, a new kind of fear that It couldn’t wrap It’s head around. It hesitated to consider humans interesting beyond consuming them, but as far as dinner went, this one was worth prodding around a little more before she died.

”What’s wrong? Disappointed?” He asked her smugly as overhead and outside, all around them a violent earthquake shuddered the world.

The shifting ground threatened to break down into the Underground and It had to momentarily reach back out to encase the lair and keep it safe, keep it together. The form of Driver shifted as It did so, Robert Gray melted back into place, though now he had three little red pom-poms on his pristine white button down shirt, his shoes were oversized clown shoes and his gaze was vacant and empty. Like It had tried to shift form and forgotten halfway through, melding two things together instead. The world outside was literally breaking apart, It could feel everything crumbling and yet It stubbornly held onto this little island of safety. After a moment It’s attention drifted back to the stowaway, the eyes refocused and turned a golden yellow. ”They’re all dead or dying out there. All of them.” It grimaced, ”What a waste.”

He looked like him. He looked exactly like him. Emma felt like she knew his face now better than she knew anybody's, which probably said a lot about whatever the hell it was they had. There wasn't a single doubt in her mind that her nameless tormenter would have some very special words for what they had. He was fucking crazy, but in a different way than Robert Gray's crazy. Was crazy really the right word, though, after what she had seen crawling down from the ceiling? Was crazy the right word when she had watched him take somebody else's face and mimic it so perfectly? He looked exactly like him, but his mannerisms, the look on his face, it was all wrong.

Disappointed. It was a word and an assumption she took more personally than she should have if not for the fact that there was that smallest bit of it deep inside of her chest. She didn't know who she preferred anymore. That should have been a lie, though. Robert Gray had never cut her. He had never killed her friends. He had never locked her up for months upon months, trying to make her something that she wasn't, trying to build her into something new.

Emma nearly scowled. She would have if the quaking ground above them hadn't shuddered everything around them, threatening to bring the entire place down. For a moment, she thought that it would and almost on instinct, she bent her knees, ducked just a little bit as she stared up at the ceiling. And then her eyes were dragging her way back to Driver's form, which was shifting now into something else. He looked like Robert Gray, only with some bright red pom-poms and clown shoes that didn't look like they belonged. Maybe she should stop fucking questioning what she was seeing. Suddenly, though, he was speaking, and Emma narrowed her eyes a small fraction as she watched him.

"If you're so concerned, then bring more people down here. You're not exactly lacking the space," she told him, but it wasn't a real suggestion born of her own concern. She didn't feel concern for the people. Just the world, the world that she was living in.

Emma Ward wasn't ready to die.

It could follow her every little train of thought as she battled over her feelings regarding the man she had seen (and perhaps even hoped had been real) versus the creature It had turned out to be in the end. It was fascinating that even now, even after what she’d seen and heard, even with the floating bodies of half consumed children drifting above her head, she still feared that human man far more than she feared It. The nameless man in her head had made quite the impression on her but the really fucked up thing was how attached to him she was, how much that mans work on her had warped and changed her from the girl she once was and that was the little spark of interest It found in her, the thing It couldn’t identify when It had been merely Robert Gray. She was changed by his presence in her life and she had the capacity to change more, to become something Other. She could inflict so much fear

”Concerned?” He repeated incredulously and then howled a laugh at her for a moment before cutting it off abruptly, ”I don’t know if you’ve noticed-” Robert pointed with his index finger and made a dramatic twirling motion that eventually ended with him pointing upwards to the drifting bodies of the children above their heads, ”-but I’m not concerned for their welfare.” He grinned slowly at her, peeling his lips back in a depraved grin, ”And neither are you.” He giggled, a softer and darker version of the big disturbing belly laugh he usually erupted into, ”I’m just here for the fleshhhh.” he savoured the ‘shh’ sound for a moment too long and then looked upwards to the ceiling a split second before another thundering crash shook the entire room.

Outside It could feel the world being torn apart, buildings were tumbling to the ground, crushing and destroying anything inside or beneath them, but then they were being torn apart too. Everything was being ripped to pieces like some great cosmic child had just smashed their lego city and was now sorting through the remains to see what they could build anew. The part that bothered It most was that it could not identify who or what was doing it, this wasn’t the work of anything It was familiar with, no ancient names or distant relatives came to mind which in some ways was comforting and others deeply frustrating for a being that prided itself on its all knowing, all powerful ego.

That unknown something was pulling at the walls of this lair too, trespassing on its territory without invite. It curled more defensively around the place, pouring energy and power It leeched from the terrified screams of humanity above into holding the spacious ruined library together. Within the lair, Robert Grey’s face looked briefly concerned which was perhaps telling how bad the situation outside was. He lowered his gaze back to Emma. It did not admit defeat easily, nor did it accept it was anything but the most powerful being in existence…but It’s grip here was slipping. It was losing this fight and the distraction of Emma was too much wasted energy now. Overhead the tiles in the ceiling began to crack and tumble to the floor, smashing to dust.

”This isn’t the end.” It snarled to something beyond Emma. Robert Gray was changing again, flickering between forms like It was forgetting how to just be one thing at a time. Here or there was The Clown, Driver, Georgie, a tentacle, a claw, a thousand million eyes- ”This is mine-” It hissed with a voice that went beyond hearing and pricked like needles in the back of the skull.

And with that Its form tore apart into something like a void of darkness with endless legs and eyes and hunger. Around Emma the lair was broken apart like a cracked egg, sending toys and bodies spiralling outwards into the unknown sketch-like space beyond…

    i wear no crown

It wasn't necessarily a serious suggestion. In fact, it had been far from a serious suggestion if not because she'd seen enough of him to know what he was like. It was true, apparently, that he was filled to the brim with surprises that she was still struggling to wrap her head around, but that didn't cloud her at all to the truth of what he was like, and yet there was that curiosity of hers wanting to know exactly what he would say, exactly how he would phrase it, exactly how he would condemn the people up there. She hadn't expected for him to turn it back around on her, though, and she felt her jaw tighten.

But she couldn't bring herself to say that he was wrong either. She didn't care about the people up there. She cared about them as little as they cared about her, she just wanted to survive. She just didn't want to die down here in this fucking hole.

That seemed to be exactly what the world above them had in mind, though, as even Robert Grey himself starting to look a little concerned and that, in Emma's mind, meant a lot. It meant there probably wasn't a whole lot of hope yet, it meant they were fucked, it meant this entire place would probably come crumbling down on them momentarily. Her eyes were wide as they darted up and around them. Whatever the hell it was he was doing, it wasn't working. His grip was slipping. Tiles cracked, ceiling began to tumble to the floor, and Emma stepped back in a hurry to avoid chunks threatening to smash right into her. Emma opened her mouth to shout, to do something, but there were no words for what she was experiencing, for what she was seeing in the shift of Robert Grey and all of those forms.

She thought she felt afraid, maybe because this was finally gonna be it. This was how she lost her life. After everything.

Just like that, the world around them tore apart and they were somewhere else, the hole spiraling off in different directions and leaving them in the unknown. Emma didn't know which was worse. Surviving just to be trapped in the mystery of this sketch-like space or surviving at all. Who the fuck really knew anymore?

    THE END
