    SKILLS & ABILITIES

For someone often seem as a punk, or delinquent, Jotaro possesses a surprisingly sharp intellect. An obvious example is the fact he was able to dedicate his studies in the field of Marine Biology to attain not only a degree, but a doctorate, a fact that Wikipedia tries to deny. In addition to this, he possesses a great deal of analytical behaviour and has demonstrated an ability to think quickly and come up with a strategy to defeat his opponent after fighting them long enough to work out their strengths/weaknesses.

Combined with his ability to keep a cool head in most situations, his strategic mind also lends well to bluffing. This can help to provoke enemies to make them act eratically, expose their weaknesses, conceal his own power, or be used to mislead others in non-combat situations, such as gambling. Falling for his ploys is generally a ticket to ORA ORAville.

Even without his Stand, he's a fairly athletic man who give throw a mean, though not superhuman, fist. Though lacking in formal military, or martial arts training, he's an apt street fighter who could give your average punk a run for their money. Stand Users with Stands like his are often enhanced, allowing him to take a far greater beating than any normal human being. He could withstand a few punches from similar strength Stands, or maybe be able to take a few more bullets than your average guy before being taken out of the fight, though he certainly isn't immortal.

    Stand[IMG]
The Persistence Stat is technically 'E' now instead of A. What does that mean? Nothing. Stand Stats are completely meaningless and make absolutely no goddamn sense. Araki only added them later on in the manga, because he thought they would be cool.

What is a Stand, you ask? A Stand is the physical manifestation of the soul, the embodiment of one's fighting spirit. No two Stands are completely identical and can be manifested in a number of ways with some born inately with the power, awakened by the rise of DIO in the descendants of Jonathan Joestar, or by a supernatural artifact known as the Arrow.

Only Stand Users can see Stands and only Stands can harm Stands.
There are exceptions to this rule that aren't important for our purposes, however anyone with similar abilities or the ability to perceive/attack ghosts and the like are probably also able to see them/fight them.

A Stand like Star Platinum that is bound to the user can also be summoned an dispelled at will. He does not have to summon it fully to use, for example he can just extend an arm of Star Platinum's from his own body to extend his reach, or a leg to push himself off an object to leap into the air.

Stands have also been shown to be able to project the voice of their user in situations where they may be otherwise unable to directly talk.

Star Platinum: The WorldJotaro's Stand, originally just called Star Platinum, is a close-range fighting-type Stand. This means that it can only move within a 2 metre radius of him at any time, though it is fully controlled by him and possesses imense power, speed, perception and agility. While it is probably not the case in reality, many of his enemies consider Star Platinum to be the strongest Stand.

What can it do, you ask? Firstly, it can react to any attack faster than the speed of a bullet and defend its user from any oncoming harm that they are aware of. Secondly, its incredibly speed and strength allows it to deliver aproximately 50 punches in a single second as seen in this glorious montage of ORA, with each punch delivering superhuman force. Combine 50 of those in a second and you're going to kill, or permanently injured most people. Jotaro can decrease the force of a punch and does not generally try to kill his opponents. In addition to these punches, Star Platinum has a move referred to as Star Finger that can rapidly extend his middle and index fingers up to the full extent of its 2 metre range and stab an opponent with the force of the thrust of a sword. This particular ability is seldom used.

Outside of combat application, Star Platinum's extraordinary eyesight allows it to catch details that most miss. For example, it was able to allow Jotaro to notice a fly in the background of a dark photograph and accurately sketch it onto a piece of paper. It has also been seen to be able to reach directly into someone's chest perform direct CPR to the heart, acting like a sort of defibrillator.

The World is an ability that Star Platinum awakened to during his final confrontation with DIO. Simply put, this is the power to stop time completely. During stopped time, Jotaro alone can still move and make any action as he would normally while others are rendered completely immobile and unable to perceive what is happening. A curious side effect of this power is the ability to activate it while someone else uses any similar ability or magic to stop time, allowing him to move in their stopped time for as long as his own power lasts or until that person's ability runs out. However, even if his own ability to move during stopped time expired while someone else also froze time, it does seem that he would be aware of the rest of the time.

Currently, he can stop time for up to 3 seconds. In stopped time, other objects only have momentum for as long as they being directly held or used. This means if anything is fired or thrown by Jotaro in this time, it will stop in mid air and not will not continue its course until time is resumed. For example, if he fired a gun while time was stopped, the bullet would shoot out of the barrel and freeze shortly after. Once time is resumed, it would carry on its natural course.

Per manga/anime rules, talking is a free action. People can give whole damn speeches in 3 seconds as long as they don't do anything, apparently.

NPCThanks to Pandora's Pet Adoption Festival, Jotaro has now come into ownership of a lovely, colourful Gryphon of the tiny variety that looks remarkably similar to this lovely piece of artwork by a talented artist called Oriana Mendez. Kubota, named after Jotaro's favourite singer, is a companion used primarily as a scout as well as for providing surveillance and coverage of Jotaro's home to protect him from his potential enemies as they appear.

Though a tiny version of a much more fiersome beast, this little guy still has the heart and courage of a lion. To most, he is uncontrollable, overly prideful and difficult to tame. However, Kubota has become attached to Jotaro, recognising him as a powerful individual worth following. Besides, he also gives him food.

Possessing a great eyesight similar to that of an eagle, Kubota can sore high in the sky with its wings and see a distance up to 8 times higher than most humans. Through the air it sores with grace, style and a swiftness to be expected of this legendary beast, even if he is a much smaller variant. He's a hardy bird, his claws are sharp and he possesses a great wit and strategic mind similar to his master. I wouldn't recommend attacking unprepared!

    WEAKNESSES

Jotaro is no mind reader, or super genius. Though he may have knowledge of a great deal many subjects in his field of study and other fields related to it, he by no means knows everything. Also, he may be quick witted, but he would only notice things about his opponents that would be possible for any other regular human to notice, unless aided by the incredible eyesight of Star Platinum while it is summoned.

Physically, he's certainly no Arnold Schwarzenegger and without Star Platinum, anyone of sufficient strength or training would be able to overpower him without the need of any additional supernatural or superhuman abilities. Also, outside of Star Platinum's 2 metre range, he's just as vulnerable as any other person and if you catch him unaware, he may possibly not be able to react in time depending on how you attack him. Like any other human, he's just as vulnerable to anything anyone else would be, including injury, sickness, or death.

As for Star Platinum itself, other than the range weakness it has other weaknesses. For starters, unless Jotaro employs a careful tactic, or uses cunning to aid his Stand's strength, anyone who can see Star Platinum and observe its attacks would find it fairly predictable. You would be able to tell its range limitation and the fact its number one offensive ability is just...punching things fast, which can be easy to avoid if you know when it would hit and you are sufficiently fast enough to evade or escape its range. Also, Star Platinum is really only equipped to fight one enemy at a time and while this isn't an issue against common thugs that could be dispatched quickly, multiple tough opponents would spell trouble for Jotaro in a straight up fight.

Even Star Platinum's The World ability isn't completely infallible if the target would take longer than 3 seconds to reach, or they were sufficiently intelligent enough to figure out the ability and what action he may be intending to take. If the an opponent has any other magic/powers involving time, they may even be able to completely negate, or render it useless.

Born to Holly and Sadao Kujo in 1970, Jotaro was a man with a great destiny before him. Growing up with his father mostly away touring as a musician meant that he was mostly parented solely by his overly clingly mother who would often apologise and excuse her 'little boy' for his delinquent behaviour that he developed over the period of his childhood. Frequenlty during his teenage years, the young Jotaro had a penchant for getting into fights with anyone that dared cross him, operating on his own moral code that simply stated that if you piss him off, he'll beat the living daylight out of you. During one of these altercations in 1987, his life changed forever when he manifested the power of Star Platinum.

After the fight, he was arrested by local police and surrendered. Believed he was plagued by an evil ghost, he refused to allow anyone near him in fear of harming them until convinced by his grandfather and his traveling companion that it was not a ghost, but a power known as a Stand. This had manifested as a result of the dormant power in the Joestar Bloodline, awakened when the dreaded vampire DIO stole the body of his great grandfather and manifested The World. This adversary plagued the Joestar Family for generations and the powers awakened by the rise of DIO also arose in Holly, but she was not strong enough to withstand and would surely perish. Unless they travelled to Egypt and confronted the source of this power itself. Not wanting to let his mother die, Jotaro, his grandfather Joseph Joestar, Muhammad Avdol and Noriaki Kakyoin planned their trip to Egypt.

On this 50 day journey mired by attacks on their lives by DIO's forces, plane crashes, shipwrecks and all manner of setbacks, they also met Jean Pierre Polnareff and a Boston Terrier by the name of Iggy, who would join the Stardust Crusaders on their quest. Defeating all the minions that stood in their way in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, the Middle East and finally Egypt. Over the period of this journey, Jotaro's moral code remained firm, though he gained a more general sense of justice and desire to punish wrongdoers. Finally, after losing his close friends Avdol, Iggy and Polnareff in their quest, he confronted DIO in a final battle in Cairo. During this battle, he awakened The World and used his power to gain victory. Though he won his battle, this would forever leave a target on his back for the surviving forces of his family advisery, who would seek their revenge.

Between 1987 and 1999, Jotaro would complete his education, attain his degree in Marine Biology and have a daughter named Jolyne. However, his dedication to his work and the enemies constantly on his tail meant that he was forced to distance himself out of fear of putting his family in danger. Though it pained him that he was never able to be a real father to his daughter, believing he deserved the hatred she felt towards him, he knew there was nothing he could do about it. Jotaro needed to hunt down all of DIO’s former allies if he wanted to be free.

In 1999, turmoil within the Joestar family would land Jotaro responsible for dealing with his grandfather’s will. As it had been discovered that his grandfather had an affair that fathered a child a few years before 1987, Josuke Higashikata. Jotaro had to travel to small town by the name Morioh in Japan to inform his considerably younger uncle that he would be entitled to some of Joseph’s fortune when he passed away. However, while he was there, they discovered a series of connected serial murders that pointed towards a Stand User by the name of Yoshikage Kira. Along with Josuke and friends they picked up along the investigation, they apprehended the killer and brought him to justice.

2 years later, he tracked down a son had by DIO who resided in Italy, but deemed him not to be a threat and left him alone.

Between 2001 and 2011, Jotaro would continue to track his own hunters until they finally revealed themselves. In a ploy to lure him into his grasp, one of DIO’s minions had Jotaro’s daughter Jolyne falsely imprisoned for a crime she did not commit. However, while waiting in the prison’s visitation room to inform his daughter of this plot, he found himself swept away by forces unknown before he could reconnect with the young woman that he had abandoned.
