Hotaru had an eventul few weeks since arriving in Pandora. She'd met her fair share of people and had to transform once, something that had left her uneasy since. Although she'd always kept her transformation rod on her in some ways she felt helpless. Much of her ability was unusable, not without destruction, and without the other Senshi there she was limited in her own ability to fight if more things came up. Not defenseless, simply limited. She was, after all, a last resort.

Since that time, however, nothing else had seemed to happen. She went about day-to-day life in the orphanage she was only somewhat beginning to call "home" (it would never be home, home was with her papa or with the other outers). The children there were friendly and even if she was nervous, she had some fun. She hadn't grown in size in a while, so her own worries had faded and she'd relaxed. Just enough, anyway.

Today saw her at one of the local parks near the orphanage. The other kids were playing in groups, but Hotaru had settled for spending the nice sunny day reading one of the books she'd procured at the library. She was happy like that all up until she heard the sounds of something that was almost mewling, if not for the fact it sounded nothing like it. The first time she heard it she thought she was imagining it, the second time she waited a moment and it stopped, the third time it was unmistakable. Hotaru closed the book and placed it on the bench next to her. The other people in the park were a good distance away and there weren't any animals--

She glanced behind her and noted the nature area of the park, lined with bushes and trees. More noises. Maybe it was stupidity to approach an apparent animal that she couldn't identify, but something tells her she should and the sound isn't angry. It's... Hurting...? Hotaru looked through the line of trees until the noises were more easily identified from a bush. She pressed branches back and all but fail to her knees when she finds the creature that'd been crying.

"Oh, no..." The girl breathed out, one hand hovering over its brown fur. It's not a creature she knows. A strange fox-cat thing she'd later learn was an Eevee, though it managed its name in short bursts even now. Her hand inched to the fur but she's stopped by another Eevee darting out to swipe at her in defense. Hotaru pulled back in surprise, holding her hand to her chest as another pair of Eevees crept from the depths of leaves. "Is this your friend?"

The Eevees don't answer, but their eyes don't pull away from her either. She turned her attention to the Eevee that was curled on the ground, a scratch deep in its side and brown fur matted. "I want to help your friend," the girl added, violet eyes flickering as she looked up to the Eevees-- As if asking for their permission. The Pokemon watched her a moment longer but made no other move, as if understanding she might be able to help, so the tiny girl took a breath and lowered her hand to the creature's fur.

It'd been a long time since she tried this. Something she once had thought was odd and wrong about herself, but ChibiUsa had encouraged it. It's ChibiUsa's warmth the girl thought of as she concentrated and closed her eyes, a warmth that radiated from her fingertips. A small white light gathered between her palm and the pokemon's fur and it's a seemingly long moment before it dissipated to the chirp of an 'eevee'.

Hotaru opened her eyes to watch as the Eevee in question picked itself up from the ground and walked in a big circle, as if unsure of what had happened. One of its companions pounced on it and Hotaru can't help the small laugh that escaped. "I'm so glad," she remarked between laughs, face paling some as she began to feel the pressure of healing even that much. She pressed a hand to the ground to steady herself and was surprised when the Eevee she'd helped climbed atop her knee and gave an 'eevee' that sounded almost concerned.

She shook her head, hand moving to rest atop its fur. "It happens," Hotaru said by way of answer, "I'm just glad you're doing better." The pokemon gave a cheerful answer in response and bumped its head against her hand.

Nico had some errands to run in Ark City, picking up a few supplies for the academy. Books? Check. Worksheets? Check. Learning how to fight with a sword was an important part of swordsmanship, but studying the sword was also equally important. As it was now he had gathered some food and was heading to the park to relax.

He honestly hasn't been able to relax in a week and it was taking its toll on him. Stepping into the park, the grass squishy under his boots. He could see kids playing on the playground, couples jogging together and just the sound of birdsong. He made his way down the trail looking for a nice shady tree to get comfortable by and eat his convenience store snacks.

That's when he saw her, a girl that looked about eight-ish. He could see the aura around her of death, well, that was weird. Narrowing his eyes he made his way over to her. He blinked when he realized she seemed like she was tired or sick. Kneeling down beside her he asked, "Hey, kid, are you okay?" he asked and then saw the strange fox-like creatures, who kept saying 'vee', well that's not what the fox says. He'd worry about that later, his concern was this girl.

The Eevee she helped continued to press its face against her palm, the cheery 'vees' it chirped cheerful against the way it's siblings sat with watchful eyes. They seemed to trust the girl had helped it, but had no desire to leave it behind. She smiled to the creatures, though it remained soft and faint, with fingers that gently curled through its fur. Healing, it seemed, still took strength from her-- But that was to be expected, what wasn't to be expected was the appearance of a boy.

Hotaru blinked as her hand stopped and turned her attention to the... Well, strange wasn't the right word, but there was a presence about him she couldn't place. Nevermind that whereas many left her to her own devices he was there. After a moment she registered what he said and shook her head and turned her attention to the Eevee in her lap. "I'm okay. I was more worried about him," She answered quietly, but doesn't elaborate any more on the seemingly healthy creature. She paused and looked back up, "They're all alone." Scared, hurt, and alone. All the things she understood too well.

He was glad to hear the child was okay, that was his first concern. He looked at the creatures in front of them, scared and hesitant. His expression softened, he didn't know what they were but he knew they were lost and alone. He could relate. "What are they? They look like little brown foxes." he hummed. He reached out his hand for one of them to sniff, he heard this is how you greet animals you don't know.

"If they're alone, maybe we should find them a home?" he pondered. One of the Eevee sniffed his hand and perked up, moving to sit at his side. That was weird. Normally animals hated him. He hesitantly reached over and pet the Eevee behind the ears, it seemed it liked that.

"What do you think?" he asked the girl he hadn't yet gathered her name.

Hotaru tilted her head just to one side, purple eyes bright as she took both the boy and the Eevees in. "I don't think they're foxes," She returned hushedly, "they say 'eevee', and foxes don't." Which was a reasonable assertation, nevermind that she thinks they're too small to be foxes-- Maybe if they were baby foxes, but she's not sure they're babies either.

Her smile remained tender as the Eevee she'd healed continued to make itself comfortable on her lap. The small girl turned her attention upward to the boy, blinking in uncertainty before she glanced at the Eevee that was amusing itself with him. "Is it really okay to separate them?" She inquired instead, "they're animals, not people. Maybe they're happier out here..." She turned her attention outward to where the kids were still playing with eyes that flashed as if becoming colder.

"But I do think someone was bullying them..." She added quietly. The Eevee's injuries hadn't seemed to come from its friends and they were all incredibly skittish with people. It seemed like some of the other kids might have taken to treating them as some kind of punching bag.

Eevee, why does that sound like one of those Pokemon that the Hermes cabin goes on about? Blinking and keeping one hand on the Eevee, who was enjoying their ears scratched. "Maybe they're from a world where they are like their foxes?" he shrugged. He didn't really have the answers.

"Well maybe let's not separate them, but bring them somewhere safe. It's not safe for them to be out in the open like this," Nico said. The fact she said they seemed like they were being bullied only solidified his idea. "Maybe they like forests, that's why they're hiding in the bush," he placed a finger on his chin. "We can find them a wooded area where they're not being a target for the kids?" he looked at Hotaru, she was the boss here.

Hotaru nodded, small frown on her features. It didn't really matter if they were foxes or not foxes, they were small. One of them had also been hurt, even if that one was now all but glued to her lap now moving about intently. Her fingers stroked its battered fur softly as she listened to the boy.

A small shake of her head.

"Do you think there's an animal reserve?" That seemed like the best option, didn't it? Somewhere they wouldn't be out and able to be hurt. It wasn't like they could go out and find home for all of them, and they didn't really seem like a cat or a dog (they were more fox like and those should be free to wonder). The small girl turned to the teenager, her head tilted to just as one side as she inquired, "I don't go very many places like that. What about a place people go camping?" Usually, those had forested areas and people didn't wander throughout them, but she'd also-- admittedly-- never been allowed to go camping. Or outside usually.

Nico's knowledge of Centria was very limited in the least bit. He was more a dweller of the Vales and Pandopolis. He set his lips into a thoughtful line. Pulling out his phone he looked up something really quick on the StarkNet. It appears there was a forest in the North-Western side of Centria. Adagio Grove, it was a thick enough forest. "Huh, so apparently there is a forest on the North-Western side of Centria, it's pretty thick so they might be happier there," he paused. "I'm sure they wouldn't be happy in the zoo there, I wouldn't be either." he tried light humor at the end of that.

The Eevee that had been drawn to him, decided it would curl up at his feet. Huh, apparently a creature took a liking to him. That was new.

"No, a sanctuary is better than a zoo," Hotaru agreed solemnly. She enjoyed zoos. Her adoptive parents and papa had taken her to a few in her short life, but at the same time she didn't think she'd like being looked in on all the time. People throwing stuff and shouting at her for her attention wouldn't make her happy at all.

She glanced down at the boy's eevee and. The one in her lap reached up, paws on her chest, and licked at her chin causing her to giggle. She turned her attention back to it with a shake of her head, "You guys all need to be together." The Eevee in question gave a quizzical 'vee' sound as if to question why is that. And then. Purposefully curled up in her lap. Hotaru pressed a hand to her lips to bite back another small laugh from escaping.

"I think these two like us," She mentioned softly.
