    You’re A Wizard, Teddy
Teddy Lupin is a wizard, meaning that he was born with the capability to use a wand and cast a variety of spells used for tasks such as daily chores, schoolwork and battle. He is currently in his seventh year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry in Scotland, where he studies subjects like Herbology, Charms, Defense Against The Dark Arts, Potions, Transfiguration and more.

Teddy inherited a rather rare feature from his mother, Nymphadora Tonks (generally known only as Tonks): he is able to transform any part of his physical appearance wordlessly and wandlessly. This can affect everything from hair color to foot size and everything in-between; he can look like a different age, gender, height or weight. These changes are called morphs.

    Son of a Werewolf
Teddy’s father, Remus Lupin, was a werewolf, a trait that did not pass down to Teddy; however, he does have some lingering effects in his genetics. He prefers his meat rarer and his senses of smell and hearing are slightly heightened, although not to a point that would generally be noticeable.

    Magical Equipment
Teddy uses his wand (sycamore wood, unicorn hair core, 14½ inches, swishy flexibility) to do magic. He keeps it on his person at all times and will attempt to summon it if he is ever separated from it.

He is also familiar with other forms of magical equipment including school supplies like cauldrons as well as extracurricular things like Quidditch brooms. Although he is not on the house team for Quidditch at the moment, Teddy was brought up playing Quidditch and is relatively skilled, particularly as a Beater.

Since Teddy is in school, his spellcasting skills are not as fully developed as a grown wizard. Since he grew up in a time of peace, he is more familiar with spells useful in peacetime than anything meant for war. Due to his morals, he is currently unwilling to use any of the three Unforgivable Curses (mind control; torture; murder). Although he is capable of some wandless spellcasting, he is far less skilled when he does not have his wand. Even if he has another person’s wand, he is less apt in his magical skills.

Due to his upbringing in the magical world, he is not very familiar with Muggle (non-wizard) technology. He's not completely clueless, but some things will take a while longer to figure out.

Teddy’s metamorphmagus abilities often give away his emotions – if he is experiencing a particularly strong emotion, his hair color or some other feature is likely to change to reflect this. He is also unable to maintain morphs while unconscious, and will revert to his natural appearance of light brown hair and gray eyes.

Although Teddy does not transform during the full moon, he is often irritable during the days before and after, and is generally unable to sleep well that night, if at all.

From a first impression, one is likely to glean that Teddy is enthusiastic, generally happy, and always willing to lend a hand, qualities that have been nurtured by his close connections to his family (particularly his Gran and Harry’s family) and friends. He tends to be very extroverted, striking up new conversations with whoever is around and sharing the joy that he tends to bring into most aspects of his life.

With Remus’s kindness and understanding and Tonks’s enthusiasm and zest for life, Teddy is often recognized as a son of his parents, but his circumstances and upbringing by a near-village have also left their mark. He seizes every opportunity he can to learn new things and explore, and he lacks the reservations and caution of his parents being raised in a community at war. He has also learned from several great prank-masters, including George Weasley, and will use his morphing abilities to pin his pranks – always harmless and meant in good fun – on others, although most professors know it’s really him thanks to the smiles he can’t quite wipe off his face.

Teddy’s empathy and genuine desire to help others take center stage around the children in his family and at Hogwarts. He is a natural big brother/mentor to many, and his mentees learn how to enjoy the happy times in life with smiles and silliness while also learning coping strategies for the harder times. He is also a fierce defender of those who are younger than him and tends to be willing to put himself into the line of fire rather than see someone else get bullied or harassed.

As an orphan of war, Teddy knows there are dark things both in his family’s past and the past of the wizarding world. He is not oblivious to this, and can sometimes get stuck ruminating on one thing or another relating to the war. This is generally limited to important anniversaries, like the date of the Battle of Hogwarts, and can leave him melancholy. These moods don’t tend to last long, as he knows his parents would want him to live life to the fullest. He will always defend their memories fiercely against detractors, especially people who criticize werewolves.

Teddy’s most common appearance resembles his profile picture, but due to his metamorphmagus ability, he can change his appearance at will.

Teddy was born to Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks, both members of the Order of the Phoenix, during the final days of the Second Wizarding War in April 1998. Within weeks of his birth, his parents fought in the Battle of Hogwarts, where their great foe Voldemort was defeated, but they both lost their lives against his servants – Remus was killed by Dolohov, a powerful duelist, and Tonks by Bellatrix Lestrange, her fanatical aunt.

Teddy was left in the care of his grandmother, Andromeda Tonks, during the battle and she took over the duty of raising him after the death of his parents. His early life was far from lonely, with frequent visits to his godfather Harry Potter’s home until he felt like he was just as much a part of the family as Harry’s kids. He also grew up surrounded by the large and very caring Weasley family, who provided plenty of children for him to play with. As a child, he was particularly close with the eldest Weasley child, Bill, and his daughter Victoire, one year younger than Teddy (who he now finds very attractive, although he won't spill the beans right away).

At the age of eleven, Teddy received a letter indicating his acceptance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. After purchasing his supplies at Diagon Alley in London, he set off to begin the greatest adventure of his life so far.

On his first night at Hogwarts, Teddy was sorted into Hufflepuff, one of the four houses, and the house known for kindness, hard work, patience, dedication and loyalty. He was immensely proud to join his mother’s house, and took to his studies with aplomb, eager to learn whatever he could. It was this enthusiasm as well as his kindness that got him a Prefect’s badge in his fifth year, and he was later chosen as Head Boy going into his seventh and final year at Hogwarts.

“Gryffindor!” the hat cried, and Teddy Lupin clapped just as much as the students at the red-clad table as James made his way over.

It wasn’t what Teddy had hoped, of course – there needed to be more Hufflepuffs in his family and in the world – but he had known almost as sure as he’d been at his own Sorting. His had been slightly more complicated, but in the end he had found his home, and he knew James would too.

It all seemed too easy. Nothing like the war that Harry and the others had been through, where Teddy had lost his parents and gained a large hodgepodge of family who had taken care of him since the day he was orphaned. They had all supported him through his Hogwarts journey as well, from when his letter arrived to when his Head Boy badge came this past summer. After his Sorting, his Gran, of course, couldn’t have been prouder that he was a Hufflepuff like his mom, and after a hastily-penned letter to Harry, he was assured that his father would have been very proud too. Just like he knew Harry and Ginny would be proud that James was a Gryffindor, fitting in right where he belonged.

Teddy’s hair flashed red for a moment with James but quickly returned to its normal blue (too Ravenclaw, some of his friends had teased, but how was he supposed to help his favorite color?). The rest of the Sorting would be uneventful, just like everything else was in this time of peace, and then he would begin the challenge of his final year at Hogwarts and his tenure as Head Boy.

Or at least he thought things would be easy. He ignored the tapping at his feet at first, but then when he looked down, he noticed what looked like some black tentacles. A prank, perhaps? No one had messed with the Sorting in all the years he’d been at Hogwarts, but now was not the time to start, especially since he was on the job.

He leaned down, giving the tentacles a poke with his wand to not disturb what was going on at the front of the Great Hall. Not only did they not disappear like he’d hoped, but they actually started to grow, wrapping themselves around his feet. Just what he needed, to look like a fool on his first day as Head Boy…

The thought was soon driven out of his mind as the tentacles pulled hard and Teddy found himself falling through the floor, something not even he had done, and he thought he was the pinnacle of clumsiness… when he opened his eyes, he was not in the Great Hall, or in fact, anywhere he recognized at Hogwarts.

Were the tentacles a Portkey of some sort? Who was trying to transport him, and why, and where? He kept his wand aloft and looked around with a mixture of apprehension and curiosity as he took in his new surroundings.
