It was a miracle; heaven sent, that they had been able to find him after all that time had passed. Hild had expected him to be different, no man could go through such an ordeal and simply brush it off like a tavern brawl. She had not prepared herself for what differences she might see in him, how he was content to now just sit there, without saying a thing, unable even to seek revenge on those who had done this to him. Hild had not yet learned of the fate of Halig though she had to take some liberties in her guesses; she knew nothing good had happened to him. Those conversations could come later, there was a time and a place. This was neither, not right now.

The sun was bright behind them, showing them the promise of life. He had been delivered up from what she could only imagine was hell. Praise him, she thought silently as she lowered herself to sit by him, to give him the moments she thought that he needed. As she went to speak, Hild felt something tugging at her legs. She thought nothing of it at first, brushing them away as the nettles and vines she knew they had to be.

Except they weren’t. She screamed and tried to grab for her sword as she was pulled down into the soils and the dirt, out of Uhtred’s sight and away from that glaring sun. Hild did not dare to crack open an eye lid at first, assuming this was some kind of trickery, witchcraft, but she strengthened her resolve, breathed and looked up. The sun was still there, but the meadow and Uhtred had gone. Hild screamed again, a desperate cry which rose up from the back of her throat. She brought down the sword against the hard earth, letting the physical manifestation of her distaste for her situation be known to anyone around her. What in the name of heaven and earth was this?

It was then she allowed herself time to take in her surroundings, lest she be caught unawares by passing Danes or unfriendly Saxons. Hild’s breath hitched and she wandered forwards, the structure in front of her made her gasp; buildings tall, much taller than she had even seen in Wessex and were those stone walls? She was completely transfixed and tilted her head, wondering what this was. A vision from God? Temptation from the devil? She had not the words or means to describe it, and so she continued forwards, taking her step into this new world one movement at a time.

As she did, she had barely noticed the large wolf which had begun to stalk her. She turned in a heartbeat as its paws padded over the earth towards her. Teeth blared, she waited for the inevitable clash, sword brandished, heart beating furiously.

Luke liked taking walks in this area from time to time. It was usually quiet, open, and good for training and meditating. He wasn't far from the city right now-he had developed a habit of connecting more deeply with the Force to see if he could pick up anything from his father, as well as anyone else who might be in the city. He really didn't get much of anything often-Vader was too good at shielding.

He was startled by the sounds not far away. A wolf and someone being chased. He threw up a shield quickly to stop the creature's charge and came closer with his lightsaber at the ready. He did have a feeling the woman might be surprised-she seemed to be a new arrival and it was had to tell how anyone would react to him using his powers.

"It's all right, I won't harm you" he said, though he could only manage a quick glance to her while he was trying to stop the wolf.

  3. He had two days off yet had chosen to do a casual patrol outside the city. Years of serving on the force kind of meant he had a duty to step in and help others even if they may freak out by a walking talking animal. Even though a police-mammal always had to be prepared for that.

Movement from nearby made his ears twitch and he spun around to see a woman with a sword being attacked by a wolf. His eyes widened and his ears flattened at the sight and he wondered how he could help. Until a male human appeared and seemed to throw some kind of barrier and he inched closer to the humans - not wanting to be next on the menu either.

Hild had turned to face the wolf. A glance at it told her that she would have a tough fight on her hands; it's teeth were snarling at her. Had Uhtred been here, he probably would have scared the beast off, but she supposed she looked like easy prey. It wasn't insulting, she knew that she was a slight woman; wolves knew nothing of words or what she had been through. People, she could intimidate by a look or a carefully selected bunch of words- here, she was just having to rely on brute strength. It was better than it had been but still left a lot to be desired.

However, before the beast could strike, Hild realised she was not alone. A man rushed up blaring what looked to be a long glowing stick. She forgot about the wolf completely and just stared at the weapon at the expense of ignoring the man. What in the name of all that was Holy was it? Even the vikings had not wielded weapons like that before. This was only strengthening her initial idea that she was in fact in some kind of hell. Where else could such things be possible?

That was before she caught sight of the animal in the background that looked to be wearing human clothes. Hild took a long stare in his direction, hands and limbs going weak. "What..." She began weakly but the snarl of the wolf pulled her priorities back into line and she stepped up alongside the man, rolling the blade around in her hand as the wolf left its spot and headed towards the pair.

"I know this seems strange, but it's all right. I'm...I'm a warrior of sorts. But I won't harm you, I promise. I just...I happened to see you being attacked and knew I could help." She seemed frightened by his Force use, that wasn't a surprise. Even back home, there were those who feared or simply had no idea about Jedi and the Force and all that. Hopefully, she would believe him and he'd figure out a way to diffuse the situation.

  6. Now standing behind the humans, Clawhauser seemed more focused on avoiding getting attacked by the wolf. He hadn't brought any of the weaponry that the city watch gave their officers or he could have defended himself. Next time he was bringing one anyway, day off or not just in case.

As the male human spoke up, trying to smooth things over. the cheetah nodded - he would focus on making conversation once the wolf had been driven off.
