The sympathy he could've done without, but it was great to not be hurting for once. Though there was a pang of sadness at the old woman stumbling away exhausted. It would've healed in its own time too or wait till she was better. No way to phrase that without sounding ungrateful, so he kept the words to himself, smiling instead. “Thank you, Mylady” Bowing slightly he got up, nodding at the Governors question. Not perfect, but a good deal better than before.
Enough to pick up his own bag and the violin without issue. Wasn't much anyway, the small backpack not even half filled. He preferred to travel light. Leaving any of this in a room didn't sit right with him either, but it probably was the only way this would go. Still he gazed at the violin thoughtful, wondering if anyone here would think it worth stealing. Then again, he could just get it back and the worry slipped from his mind like it'd never been there. “You haven't told me what you're called yet.” he reminded the leader guy, then adding the phrase he'd just learned in a teasing tone: Sport

He mustered up a small smile when hyena boy used his own term back at him, feeling a little hot trickle of irritation. Well… Now… He could no longer avoid giving his name to Magiano.

"Philip," he offered simply. Hyena boy would learn of his "nickname" through other folk soon enough.

The Governor led him to the dorms, which were three tall wooden structures set facing each other like old rickety cowboys before a gunfight. Space in the middle created a courtyard, which was home to a water fountain. A stone griffin was sat on a rock, wings outstretched as though it was about to take flight, crystal clear water splattering from its open beak. The soft trickle of the fountain filled the courtyard with an air of peace and tranquility.

"That dorm's Scarlet House," he nodded at the nearest. "It's a girls only dorm. The one next to it is Crimson. Boys only. The last one is Burgundy. It's open to both girls and boys, plus those who don't 'preciate gender labels. Take your pick. Course-" He offered up a chummy grin and laugh. "Scarlet is off limits."

Philip paused a beat, before revealing an alternative option: "We got a buncha trailers around back if you prefer your own company."

Magiano was the last one to judge based on a name, all he asked for was something to call the other – a name, a nickname, a title, anything. Having heard that his own name sounded made-up more than once and after traveling a lot nothing would faze him much. All he did was tilting his head slightly and remember it, not questioning what was offered.
The wooden structures alone were something interesting, most places he had been to barely using wooden beams in building – his homeland because there weren't many trees in the desert to start with, on the islands for similar reasons. Wood was better off in ships than buildings and with a friendly climate one could as well sleep outside. He liked the fountain. Just like in one of the abandoned baths he stayed in so often.
Having stayed in brothels before and coming from a place where gender separation was way more of an issue he didn't bothered much, simply shrugging before answering: “I'm fine with anything that got a roof – but whats a gender?” As said, different time to come from. Though he was a generally open-minded fellow, easy to socialize with just about anyone. Spreading a joyful vibe that was pleasant to have around.

He paused to give hyena boy a bemused look. What was the deal with the gaps in his vocab?

“You’re male, right? That’s your gender,” Philip said by way of explanation.

Did Magiano know what male meant? He didn’t think the Governor was gonna try and fit him in a mailbox? Hell. He didn’t have time to give him English lessons.

“Howsabout we put you in Burgundy,” he said, leading hyena boy to the right dorm. “I figure the ladies will ‘preciate that boyish charm. Don’t go breaking their hearts now.”

Philip feigned a good-natured grin, entering the building and taking the stairs to the top. He rapped on the door up there to alert folk, before entering a red painted hallway. Nobody rushed out of the rooms to see who was calling or to greet ‘em. Silence hung in the air almost as tangibly as fog. Empty. Folk must’ve been outside earning their keep, paying off their debts.

“Kitchen,” the Governor told him, pointing at an open door at the end of the hallway. “That corridor branching off there leads to a couple separate showers and toilets. You a mornin’ person, son? You’ll have to get up early to beat the lines if you wanna shower or brush your teeth.”

He strode through a door at the other end of the main hallway, which was a reasonable size with a window overlooking the griffin fountain. A single bed ran parallel to one wall, another taken up by a couple solid wooden closets. There was even a desk, as well as a chair on shiny wheels.

“You like this room?” he asked Magiano, his tone casual. Confident.
