His stay in Misty Hollow had been surprisingly acceptable. No ghosts and magicians had harassed him and he was actually being careful to not challenge his luck and end up in an infuriating situation. Neither the food nor the accommodation was ideal, but he could sleep at night and he did not stay hungry, which were both welcoming situations. All in all, he had found that he had been content with this trip compared to how dramatic his past trips had been.

Perhaps living so long in a desert village had caused a significant drop in his standards, for Joffrey found it easier to not be upset about something the less he thought of home. Granted he missed his giant halls and armies of obedient soldiers and powerful weapons, but he did not miss the endless delegations, the wars, the traitors and the whispers in the Red Keep's hallways. It was true that most of the time Joffrey simply did not know what to do with his freedom, but he thoroughly enjoyed not being bothered and that he had experienced during his brief stay in Misty Hollow.

His luck was about to change. He was returning to the inn at dusk, unwilling to remain outside when the darkness would fall and all the dangers would crawl out of the shadows, when he heard the cry of a raven and soon after watched it in fear as he flew above the foggy town. One would think that Joffrey's most despised animal was a wolf, with how often he spoke against them, but he had no love for ravens after the incident which had briefly transformed him to a goose. As much as he wanted to forget about it, the bird's presence always reminded him and he hissed and reddened from anger at the thought of the Raven King.

Joffrey shivered, but prefered to think that it was because of a change in the weather rather than anything else and continued his way. But soon he realised that sets of eyes were on him and he turned to look at a most unpleasant surprise.

If he were going to be honest, John had quite forgotten the blond-haired young king he'd met that day, so many months ago, in Horizon. There was no reason to spare him another thought really, not after he'd gotten through with him. Why should he have to? As far as John was concerned the other young man may as well have been dead! And if he had managed to survive this long in his new shape? Well, then obviously he'd been rather a great deal more clever than the Raven King had given him credit for. Or luckier. More likely than not it was probably luck.

Either way, however, the memory of the young man he'd transformed into a goose had not crossed his mind again. His anger had cooled, his wounded pride had healed. There had been more important things to take up his attention on the weeks since. As it was, whatever his fate had been, John Uskglass simply did not care.

And so the young man was forgotten. Or that was it say, he was up until this very moment now. Both John and Chise had been on their way back out of town when they'd run across the young man, returning back to his brugh after visiting William. The shadows were growing long and the fog driftin in more thickly, cling wet and chilled, to his very bones it felt like as the two of them walked through town. The streetlights flicked on, one by one. and it was then that John saw a vaugely familiar head of blonde hair.

He paused as he walked along, blinking, head canting to the side, as his eyes caught on the other young man. "Huh." John murmured, in the sort of vaugely interested tone one might greet a caterpillar crawling upon a nearby leaf with, "So he survived..."

((oh my gosh, I am so sorry! I did not mean for this to take so long >.<))

It was always nice to spend some time with both William and John, even if sometimes Chise felt like she really didn't belong in the same place as them, a result of being the one person who came from a different world, time and age from them. Still, the two of them were the closest she had to a family in Pandora and she treasured any opportunities they could spend some time with each other.

Chise and John were returning from one such opportunity, feeling herself in a good mood as she thought about what else she would do after getting back to the brugh. However, she was taken out of her musings when John suddenly spoke, his attention grabbed by a young blonde man that they were passing by. He spoke about how he had "survived" with such disinterest that it sounded like he really didn't care about his survival, which was puzzling, much like a lot of John's behavior.

"Survived what?" Chise made her question, unsure of what to even expect as an answer.

It was him! Joffrey rarely gave a second thought about other people, but the Bird King's face had been imprinted to his memory after how much he had suffered as a result of his
magic. It took the efforts of an annoying witch to return to his human self again, a witch that had said that she would find the man herself. Joffrey had asked of her to cut him in half as a punishment for what he had done to him, but he was not really surprised that she hadn't. She had seem so soft and weak in spirit.

But that did not mean he was not upset. As he laid eyes on him, noticing the girl with the strange hair color next to him, his face darkened. But he already knew that if he raised his sword at him, he might not have a chance to touch him before he did his magic and turned Joffrey to another bird. His violent desires were burning inside of him but his experienced had taught him to be more careful with those he encountered.

'I knew she did not have the strength to kill you.' Joffrey called out to the man, cursing the stupid witch under his breath. He did not dare close the distance between them more though. 'I am a visitor in this town. You can't use your magic against me here, or the Guards will throw you in a cell.' he added, trying to add as much confidence in his words as he could, though there was a part of him that still dreaded the man's powers. He did not know what the Guards in this strange town of mist and shadows could do. He could only hope they were competent against this man.

"Hrmm?" turning back to Chise, John shrugged. "I turned him into a goose." his tone was better suited to a comment upon the weather than any admission to interference in the morphological state of another, "The last I had seen of him he was being chased down by a group of hunters." He did not add that those hunters happened to be a flock of rather vengeful ravens that John had also transformed that they might better achieve justice for their compatriot.

It wasn't a detail that seemed particularly important.

He was ready to leave it there at that, already starting to walk off again and head back on his way towards the brugh. It seemed that this was not in the cards for him however, for at that moment the blonde young man had taken notice of John and Chise, and was already shouting over to them. Some riddiculous front about how John could not use his magic on him here, all attempting to appear brave while meanwhile hiding behind the town's guard for protection. The Raven King had to struggle not to roll is eyes. There was one bit there that captured his attention however...

"You attempted to have me killed?" Despite himself there was something almost resembling amusement edging John's words.

Chise blinked a couple of times after John stated very nonchalantly how he had turned the person in front of them into a goose and allowed him to be chased by hunters.

"You what?" Chise looked at John with utter bewilderment, the whole thing not having clicked with her just yet and, instead, sounding like complete nonsense.

Even aside from the fact that this boy was alive and human (probably through some other mage’s work, judging from how John was surprised to see him again), there was the matter of why John would even do that, as Chise hadn’t thought him to be the type to just do that to random strangers.

And then there was the matter of the fact that this boy had apparently sent someone to kill John, which not even he seemed surprised by. This whole situation was just very strange in all possible ways.

"What happened between the two of you?" She asked, her tone almost begging for answers.

Joffrey gritted his teeth at the bastard's reaction, which was as cocky as he remembered him to be, but he had the sense to not allow himself to go to an exploding rage, but instead keep his anger boiling up inside as he stared at the other. 'The witch that transformed me back said she would stop you from practising your vile magic tricks. She was too weak to do what needed to be done, obviously.' he answered with a petulant expression on his face. He had convinced himself that he would never see the Bird King again, despite not putting much faith in the woman's character. Her abilities had been extraordinary, after all.

Then he turned his attention on the girl with the bright red hair. He did not like the fact that he was alone while the man who turned him too a goose had another person with him, though as it seemed, the man escorting her had not told her about the story between him and Joffrey. 'He used his magic on me! Turned me to a goose! And all because I killed one of his precious birds!' he hurried to answer in anger. The last bit was said dismissively, because while Joffrey had not dared kill another raven again, he could hardly believe hurting animals to be an offense. He could not understand how it was thought appalling if he did it, but it elicited feelings of respect and admiration when it came to others. Was a boar more important than a cat? Was a raven more significant than a horse?

But he had taken note that to a man named Raven King, those birds were sacred, so he said no more to insult them and risk his state of being again.
