    @Stiles Stilinski

When Ayano had basically forced Sebastian to be her friend, he didn't really expect to be connected to a whole damn network of people she was close to.

While he wasn't the most active in the social circle she brought him to, it did at least get him in touch with a few people who knew he was a programmer, and occasionally took advantage of that fact. The last time, it was someone who discovered a whole human living in a computer, which was a bit of an out-there use of his skills.

Compared to that, being asked to help someone learn to program wasn't as odd; though for Sebastian, it was definitely more panic-inducing.

Talking to new people was hard enough, teaching them something he basically learned through trial and error? Kind of terrifying, in the sense that he had no idea how to actually do this. He wasn't a teacher, and he definitely wasn't good with new people, but admitting that felt a little pathetic, so in the end, he acted as aloof as possible while agreeing.

It wasn't easy, but he definitely managed to play off the social anxiety bubbling up under the surface, which was good, because letting someone know he was anxious only made his anxiety worse, and he didn't need more than the amount that had him up for half the night, feeling like he was going to throw up.

That didn't stop him from riding his motorcycle over to the guy's (Stiles, an odd name, but he could roll with it) apartment with his laptop that day for the first lessons. He'd just need to act like he knew what he was doing, and he'd be fine.

With one last deep breath, he knocked on Stiles's door and then leaned against the nearest wall, looking bored to keep from looking panicked.

    Things have been...going for Stiles.

Had been mulling over it for a while, but came to the decision that while he liked being near Scott—and funny to be neighbors—it was better that he moved to a different apartment. Mostly due to the rent and...space.

It was too much and it reminded him how lonely he was after Derek vanished. It had been some time—he even talked to it with Toby—but he missed him. And he was also said he never got to tell him how he felt. But, the dwelling wouldn’t help and while he didn’t know if Derek would ever come back again, he knew he couldn’t stay hung up on a guy.

So, he packed Derek’s stuff in a box, sold the furniture he didn’t want—got some movers and went a different street with more reasonable rent. There was still an extra bedroom but he decided to make that his office/evidence room. It felt nice to have a place that he could focus and work in peace. He had a few magical trinkets and the like since he had cases on the supernatural. There was also a parking lot that he kept Roscoe at.

But he wanted to motivate himself. And one thing he had been thinking of, is basically to up his game with his computer skills. And he remembered...that Ayano had a friend who did programming, she talked about him when they talked some time ago. He briefly saw him during her birthday but that was it.

So, he messaged the guy and asked him for lessons—willing to pay him for his lessons, of course. And that’s how Stiles had made his apartment presentable, and basically have his laptop ready, just in case Sebastian wanted to start immediately.

He felt nervous when the door knocked. Taking a deep breath, he opened the door and waved. “Hey there. I’m Stiles—come in.” Once he was in, Stiles cleared his throat. “You want something to drink...eat?”

It didn't take long for the door to open, so Sebastian quickly pushed himself off of the wall and gave Stiles a nod in greeting. The perfect amount of detached to make it seem like he didn't care, and not that he had no idea what to do.

"I'm good," he said, following him into the apartment, "we should just get started, right?" Seeing how he'd never taught anyone before, they'd need every second of the day to make any progress. He assumed, anyway.

After Sebastian entered his place, Stiles felt the friendliness and enthusiasm he felt dwindle. Great...of course this would have made the other dude bored but was still doing it cause Stiles was paying him. And yeah, Stiles did wanna learn but he had hoped they could have gotten friendly with each other.

Damn, why did he do this to himself?

“Okay.” So, Stiles shrugged it off and led Sebastian to the room he made as an office. Thankfully, the desk was large enough and he had brought an extra chair just in case. He flipped the evidence board he had on some cases and just gestured to Sebastian to sit down.

“So, what you want to start with?”

Sebastian, a bit too wrapped up in his own head to notice the fading cheer, simply placed his laptop bag on the desk that Stiles pointed out and got to work getting it set up. It didn't take long at all, so he was able to look back at Stiles pretty quickly.

"Well, it depends on what you already know, and what you plan to do," he said with a shrug, "C++ is most often for group projects, Java is pretty universal but especially good for networking. Then there's C, which is good for making games in..."

The sudden realization that he was starting to ramble about one of his passions caused Sebastian to close his mouth with a click. "So, yeah," he muttered, pulling his fringe more firmly in front of his face to hide his steadily pinking cheeks, "there's also a couple good ones for beginners. You probably wouldn't use them to do anything, but they're good for starting out."

“Mostly for work: like, to set up systems for each person at work or to hack into a system or something. I’m a private eye, so we do what we gotta do. And I just know very minimal hacking.”

Stiles doubted that Sebastian was gonna report him or anything since...he just said what he did as a job. And because of his job, he was pretty observant now; studying Toby and what he learned back home, it was a bit like second nature now.

So, when Sebastian pulled his hair forward, he could tell her was nervous. It could be a number of reasons, but Stiles felt it was because of an old friend called anxiety—one friend that Stiles was pretty familiar with.

Time to play it chill. “Well, we could start with one of those.”

Sebastian couldn't help but snort at Stiles wanting to know how to hack. "You're not even the first person to ask me about what I know about hacking," he noted. Jack was in the DOI, though, so it was fine if he did some snooping. Probably.

Not like he'd tell on him, or anything.

When Stiles didn't try to make a big deal out of anything he said, Sebastian managed to take a breath and pull back from his slumped over position, adjusting his laptop even though it was fine where it was. "Well, then you want to start with Python," he said with a nod, "it's simple and flexible, so it's a good first step."

He quickly got to typing a url, making sure Stiles could see and explaining, "first step is to download this so you can actually do stuff with the code we're going to be working on."

Stiles shrugged, deciding not to respond to that statement. Honestly, he didn’t want it to look like he was just trying to fish out for hackers or whatever but he wanted to learn more. Besides, he can kind of tell that Sebastian preferred it when he wasn’t talking too much.

He observed what he was doing, as he downloaded the program Python. Sebastian started explaining some of the process to him, but after a bit, Stiles found it a bit difficult to pay attention to it. Shit, come on, brain! He’s paying this guy, so he’s gotta pay attention.

This continued for about five minutes before Stiles sighed and rubbed his eyes. “Hey, do you mind repeating that?”

At first, things were going off without a hitch. The basics were being laid down, the likelihood that he'd miss a step in the process and need to troubleshoot for ten minutes because of a missing line, the terms he'd need to know, that kind of stuff.

It was when he was getting to if/then statements that he could tell a bit that Stiles was losing focus. He'd spent enough time trying to help Sam pass his classes that he knew exactly what it looked like when someone was having issues, and he knew better than to just call him out and make him uncomfortable.

Finally, Stiles was willing to admit that he'd lost track, and Sebastian shot him a quick glance before repeating, "when it comes to if statements, what you really need to look out for is indentations. You get that wrong, the whole thing falls apart."

There was a pause as he considered what might be more useful in this situation. Sam always lost interest when too much talking without enough doing happened. "You wanna try making something instead of just having me talk at you for ten more minutes? It might makes things easier to focus."

Stiles’ leg was moving around as if he wanted to keep moving and just get up and do shit. The plus side was that he took his medication before Sebastian come to his place, so at least, it should kick in at some point.

What he was saying made sense and it also didn’t; at the suggestion of doing it himself, Stiles slowly nodded and he moved closer. He felt a bit embarrassed since Sebastian understood that Stiles was having difficulty with this. All he had to do was ignore it: he didn’t want people to treat him differently because he had ADHD. It wasn’t even a severe case, like how others have it, but Stiles still had difficulty when it came to focusing and hyperactivity.

He started writing; his first two attempts were a flop, but after a few instructions from Sebastian, he got the drift of them around the third and fourth time. At the fifth attempt, he turned to the guy. “Good?”

The longer Sebastian spent with Stiles, the more easily he could compare him with Sam, particularly the inability to sit still without the desperate need for something more interesting. It was only through so much time with him that he was willing to give Stiles the benefit of the doubt. Sam wasn't as lazy as he seemed, just struggled focusing.

He made sure to be patient as Stiles made obvious mistakes that he could spot from a mile away. It was only thanks to making those mistakes a million times in the beginning that he knew to recognize them, so he let Stiles bumble along a bit, just giving advice when necessary.

In the end, Stiles managed to make a functioning little program faster than Seb would have in his early years. Granted, he was self-taught so that might've been part of the reason. Still, he shot Stiles a smile and nodded. "It works, right?" he said, "once you really get the hang of programming, you get used to using shortcuts most of the time, but this is a good brute-force system."

A part of him was concerned that Sebastian was getting annoyed with him or his lack of attention/sitting still. He looked like the type to not take kindly to people not paying attention, but that didn’t say anything. Instead, he was letting his power through it, learn what he did wrong and how to improve.

He liked that; showing he was basically capable of doing shit on his own.

At Sebastian’s words, Stiles felt a bit embarrassed from it but just scratched the back of his head. “Yeah...thanks,” Stiles said, shyly. It was interesting to program but it took time, patience and focus. Focus that was hard to come, most of the time.

“So, how long have you been doing this?”

Sebastian expected to go straight into explaining more about programming, but Stiles's question got him to pause and consider. "I haven't really been keeping track," he waffled as he tried to figure out the answer.

Eventually, he said, "I mean, it's definitely been a few years. I'd spend most of my time on the computer to get away from Demetrius and his nonstop praise of my half-sister, and I just randomly decided to look up what it's like to program and just sort of went from there."

Was that too much? That was probably too much. Realizing that he probably made himself sound really pathetic, he grabbed his fringe and tugged it in front of his face again in embarrassment.
