There were so many interesting things in Pandora. Ochaco thought that she had seen a variety of people back home but Pandora always seemed to have something else odd to introduce just around the corner. Every day there was something new for her to learn or discover and more often than not, she found herself wondering what was real or fact among the lies or mistruths. Back home everything had a much more defined history. Easily taught in class or read up online.

Ochaco was trying to learn as much as she could in a short amount of time. Everyone around her seemed to have tricks or tips about how to adjust to the place. She wasn't sure what to believe and everything just seemed... overwhelming. In a way, she wished that she had one of her teachers in Pandora with her but she hadn't seen anything about Eraserhead or any one else in the news. In her mind there was an easy way to fill in her knowledge gaps: textbooks.

Textbooks were something that every one had to read in school. Things that were considered standard, but she also knew that textbooks were not cheap. At least the ones that you could buy from stores instead of pick up in a classroom. She would have to be careful in making sure that she got the most "bang for her buck", or so the saying went. Ochaco had a list of basic school books that most "kids" in Pandora were currently required to read for classes and she was going into a local bookshop to make sure that she got the best deal.

So with that list clutched in one hand and a look of determination on her face, Ochaco pushed past the front door and quickly made her way to the correct section of the store. Textbooks stood out among everything else. The teen stopped halfway down a shelf and then started to glance between her list and the books in front of her, trying to compare what prices had been at the last store to this one. It wasn't like she had much else to do in her free time, she had only been in Pandora just under a month and she was trying to adjust.

Without thinking about it Uraraka made herself lighter with a simple snap of her hands, floating up so she could snag a book off the top shelf before increasing her weight slowly to land back on the ground. She was smiling widely, realizing that this textbook about Pandora was on sale at half price, when she looked up and realized that there was someone standing there that she knew. "Bakugo?" She took a step and then stopped. Was it really him?

Katsuki sighed - the sound annoyed, even if he really wasn't. A cart of books in front of him with post-its indicating where they needed to go in the store. It was mindless and boring work - honestly it felt beyond beneath him. But it was basically the cost of rent of this place. Wasn't exactly how he wanted to spend his time outside of school, but if this meant he didn't have to deal with that fucking orphanage anymore - so be it.

One of the cats that lived in the shop was following him around as he worked - rubbing against his legs whenever he stopped moving. He offered the thing the occasional pet if his hands happened to be near a bottom shelf. One ear-bud in, just in case anyone needed to catch his attention. Normally he didn't give a damn - but after having someone catch him off-guard once, he didn't really wanna chance that happening again. Felt dumb to jump when someone touched his damned shoulder.

Turning a corner, he glanced up to see someone he actually kind of knew. At least it wasn't fucking Deku. Since he wasn't really sure how to...deal with seeing someone from back home, if he was honest - he just glanced back down to his work and kept working. Lips silently mouthing the author's last name - as he looked for a spot to book the thing. The plan was just to keep working and ignore her. If she noticed him, so be it. If she didn't, that was that.

After using her power to grab something off the top shelf and landing back on her feet without puking, she noticed him. Katsuki shot her a quick glance, before continuing to work.

    "The fuck do you want?"

He could almost hear Kirishima's voice apologizing for him and saying something pointless like he means hi, nice to see you! But instead, there was just the silence of the bookstore.

The cat by his feet decided to take over the role - walking over to Round Face with a dumb and weird trilling sound - purring loud for no real apparent reason. Nobody was touching the thing, yet seemed just happy to exist and meet someone new.

Right, this was Bakugo. How had she been expecting anything different? He was a cranky soul at best and why did she think that this would go… well at all? Uraraka stared at him for a moment, the friendly smile on her face frozen slightly in response. Her hand had been lifted to give him a friendly wave as well, but it stopped half way up with her fingers almost curling in defense against his tone.

If someone else had been there, Kirishima mostly, then things would have likely been smoothed over but Uraraka just… wasn’t fully prepared. But Bakugo was the very first person she met who was from home and that wasn’t something she was prepared to ignore. Which meant that a full smile was plastered on her face a second later. She let her hand drop and tucked it behind her to hide any possibly nervous details.

”I haven’t seen anyone else from home! It’s good to see you!” Friendly, she just had to stay friendly. Which was something she could do. She was Uraraka! ”How long have you been here?” Kirishima got through because he was stubborn and just refused to let Bakugo’s words get to him. Or at least, that was what Uraraka thought about it all. Her heart was racing in her chest but she really just... nothing was familiar in this world. Nothing reminded her of home. Yet they were both here.

Which meant she was going to keep trying. Her eyes dropped to the cart that he had been pushing and she easily put together what was going on. ”Do you work here?” Uraraka had gotten a normal job as well. Something to “pay the bills”. Having to suddenly deal with this might have normally thrown her for a bigger loop but she had always been money conscious with how she had grown up. In that manner, Uraraka was more prepared than a great number of her classmates might have been. Bills? She understood those! Balancing a chequebook? Also good! Keeping a schedule to make sure everything was taken care of on time? Check!

But she was alone in a manner she had never been before and that was rough on her. So she kept smiling, hoping that Bakugo somehow felt similar. Or at least, that he wouldn’t explode in her direction. Hopefully. They had never been close but… they knew each other. That had to be enough for the moment.

Katsuki noticed her wave wilt away before it could actually be considered friendly. Attention turning back to his work, as the cat wandered over to her; making a point to purr loudly and rub against her shoes, as he pretended that none of this was happening. He actually glanced back over when she mentioned she hadn't seen anyone else; Katsuki half convinced everyone was here, and he was just doing a great job at avoiding them.

Maybe it really was just the two of them.

"Sorry I'm not literally anyone else," he shook his head - surprised she was actually still trying to talk to him after how he greeted her. Realizing she wasn't going to shut up and just...keep talking at him no matter what he did, he felt tempted to just walk away. Half curious if she'd follow him, or drop the nice act as soon as she didn't feel like she had to. After all, she probably hated him. Nobody was that close with Deku without knowing everything. Probably painted him like some sort of villain.

Instead of walking away, however, he just put the book in his hand on the shelf, and crossed his arms in front of his chest - leaning on the shelf next to him as she questioned how long he'd been in Pandora.

"Uh...bout nine days," he admitted, with a shrug, "Have you been stuck here long?" edge to his voice dropping a bit, "And...yeah. I work here, sleep here. There's...beds in back. I'm too young to live anywhere outside of a fucking orphanage, without a legal adult. So...it's either here or fucking nonstop screaming kids," his gaze dropped back to his pile of books, while he scratched his neck, tempted to just go back to work.

Sorry I'm not literally anyone else. Ochaco instantly felt bad for the way that she had reacted. It was obvious that he could pick up on the fact that she had hoped he was someone else. Almost anyone else, though she had to admit that meeting Mineta would have been worse by a lot. The brunette was also surprised when Bakugo actually spoke to her instead of telling her to get lost of something similar.

Perhaps he felt similar to how she did. Missing home, even if they were entirely different people. He seemed to almost calm down a touch and this was probably the calmest conversation she had had with him to date. Pandora was likely getting to him in a similar manner. Maybe her own thoughts had been a little harsh. "Just under a month." Which meant that she had been here a bit longer than Bakugo but that was alright. Neither of them had been there very long though something that Bakugo stuck with her.

Orphanage. Uraraka knew what an orphanage was. She had heard of Pandora's orphanage because it had been suggested to her though the people at the shelter had started to say she would need to go there until they had found out she was sixteen. She had been questioned a little bit on the subject but then Ochaco had learned that sixteen seemed to be the age where people were considered adults. So she wasn't forced to go to the orphanage and she had found a job instead.

If Bakugo was avoiding the orphanage then he... wouldn't have been sixteen. "Bakugo, how old are you?" It might have seemed like an odd question but Uraraka was pretty certain that Bakugo had had a birthday at some point. They had been living in the dorms for awhile and most of the class had hit their sixteenth birthday by the point she had come from.

Ochaco had heard about this before. She knew that people came from different points in time but Uraraka hadn't realized that it would apply like this! He was younger than her. He came from a different point. She couldn't help but wonder if he knew about All Might no longer being the number one hero or that he had been kidnapped by the League of Villains at one point. "When did you come from?" Her voice was a little quieter. She wasn't sure what to do about this.

Just under a month. Katsuki rose a brow, surprised that meant she had been here longer than him; them meeting a possibility...the entire time he was in fucking Pandora. Probably meant there was a chance there were more of them out there. He didn't even really want to think about that at the moment.

At her question, he studied her - realizing what this was leading to. He heard about all that...timeline bullshit. How people in Pandora could come from any time; sometimes even other versions of the time. If she was asking his age, he probably said some shit that tipped off that something was off between their times. Likely she was already sixteen, and wondering why he was forced into this situation at all. Fucking hell, he didn't want to be the damned baby in the group...if there was a group at all. He normally already trailed a bit behind everyone else age-wise, cuz his birthday was just after the school-year started.

"Fifteen?" he wasn't sure why he was telling her as a question - his attention returning to his pile of books as he slid another one away, before she asked the second part. Dammit. He really didn't want to fucking talk about this.

"Night after the license exam," he vaguely stated, wondering how much she knew. Everyone of course knew about him, that fucking Candy Cane, and that one other asshole failing the exam. But the fight...that made him wonder. There was a lot of shit that happened and was said in that fight that couldn't exactly be fucking public; namely everything to do with All Might. Fuck, him being there at all was probably part of the secret. Even if Bakugo typically just yelled whatever came to mind, he'd actually be careful with what he said. All Might trusted him with his secret - and even here he wouldn't give that up. Even if he never showed up in Pandora, he was asked to not say anything - so he wouldn't.

    "Bout you, Round-Face?"
