Kethry did not like Lethe. In fact, she tried to avoid it whenever possible. She did not like the Undertaker, or his methods, she didn't like the idea of the Tagged, or the arena. And she knew that if she let Need drag her into there, she'd never leave. In a way, it was worse than the rest of the Wastes, just under a veneer of civilization. At least Anarchy Road didn't pretend to be better than it was.

Nevertheless, she was now uncomfortably close to the city that she hated. Need was driving her, as she did, to a fortress just beyond the outskirts. As she approached it, Kethry knew exactly what it was, without having to even enter it. It was a threat. An unspoken threat to the Undertaker, an unspoken threat to his power. She would leave it standing, but there was something else going on here, too. A threat to the Undertaker alone would not cause this reaction from Need. Neither she nor the sword she bare cared about the Undertaker.

Kethry dismounted Ironheart, leaving the horse to graze on what little was available. She trusted her horse to take care of herself, stay in the area, and to not get stolen. It was strange. For such a long time, she had hated the idea of getting a battlesteed. Now, Ironheart was invaluable. There was a pang in her heart at the thought of Tarma, as there always was, but Kethry could not afford to dwell on it. She wrapped herself in a cloaking spell, becoming something, becoming someone beneath notice.

Then she entered the fortress, and waited, and listened. Interestingly enough, it sounded like someone had gotten there first.

Lexa had gone into the outskirts of Lethe to follow up on suspected bandit activity. This had lead her to a fortress that seemed abandoned, though the lack of dust inside proved the otherwise empty lack of appearance.

With her swords strapped to her back, and a cloak with a red stripe, Lexa moved through the building. She wore her traditional war paint, though it was rather different. To most it wouldn't look it, but it was actually a mask upon her face, gifted by her bird son. It certainly came in handy.

She paused as the breeze wafted through, bringing scents from outside. From this point she could just make out someone had arrived but who and what was yet to be known. Hands flexed, itching to bring out the claws though she refrained from doing so.

    "Show yourself."

Maybe she had finally gone crazy.

The person in question seemed to be slightly younger than Kethry herself, and made Kethry wonder if they were involved in what was occurring here. The mask had thrown her, for a moment, but the voice soounded young enough, if not quite as young as it seemed. Her body language carried the air of authority, and her mask made Kethry doubt if she was, indeed, with the brigands that lived in this fortress. She also wondered how she had seen through the spell, but Keth wasn't stupid enough to believe that that spell was foolproof. There were always people who cared enough to notice the unnoticeable, to pay attention to those others believed inferior.

Nevertheless, the woman didn't seem to have noticed her by sight, since she was currently looking away. Similarly, Kethry doubted that she had made enough noise to cause the woman to hear her, so maybe.... Keth switched to her magesight, trying to confirm a hunch. Sure enough, the woman appeared to be some kind of loup-garou, even if it wasn't a version that Kethry had encountered before. She stepped forward, letting the spell fall. Even with Need sheathed by her side, Kethry didn't make a particularly imposing figure right now, since she wasn't trying to. "As you wish," she said quietly, but with a faint smile that made it clear that she wasn't particularly intimidated.

If others wanted to come here, it wasn't up to her to try and stop them. Unless they were in leagues with the bandits, though the woman didn't have any scent on her that would cause Lexa to believe she was part of it.

Lexa finally turned around, a charred feather in hand, as she looked at the other woman. "And what brings you to a bandit hideout?" Lexa asked, making no move to appear too threatening. There were others, guards and soldiers, who often went after bandits so it wasn't too surprising if this was the case.

It was becoming clearer and clearer that this woman, whoever she was, wasn't part of the bandit group. From her strange mask, down to the unusual clothing she was wearing (weirdly detailed for the Wastes, suggesting that she wasn't quite normal), Kethry was almost annoyed at herself for not spotting it earlier. Plus, the sneaking around, looking for clues, was a large giveaway, and Keth knew that Tarma, if she was here, would be ashamed of her for not spotting it sooner.

"Same thing that you are, most likely," Kethry said, looking at the other woman with piercing (and slightly unsettling) green eyes. "I was called here by someone is distress." It was easier not to get into the details of Need's geas, and Kethry wasn't sure yet which way this woman leaned. Enemy of my enemy was not always your friend, either, and if there was going to be a problem, Kethry wanted to have a few cards up her sleeve.

"To stop them?" Lexa asked, arching an eyebrow beneath her mask. She listened, tilted her head and then added, "is someone in trouble right now?"

See, she knew others had powers that differed from hers. While she could only rely on the wolf senses, there were others who could see further and deeper. "My name is Lexa." She added after a moment of thought. Most people knew who she was, and her position in Lethe, and she wondered if this woman knew or if she was new to the area.

"There is a lack of dust which means there has been recent activity."

"Maybe," Kethry replied. Need had subsided a little now, but she wasn't sure if it was due to the location, or due the person in distress no longer in danger, either through time, or death. "To save them, or avenge them, depending on what has happened." Either way, she was here to stop the bandits. "It's not as urgent as it used to be," the mage responded. There wasn't any harm in sharing this, after all. "Either they're dead, or no longer in the danger that they were."

Lexa... Lexa....that name was familiar. A follower, a Hand of the Undertaker. Kethry needed to be careful about what she said. She knew that the Undertaker had certain practices that she didn't approve of, and that she didn't want to be caught in the mess that was Lethe problems. "Ashre," Kethry replied, the lie, the fake name, falling easily from her lips. "I wish we could've met under better circumstances, Lexa."

"I'm not surprised," Kethry said, surveying the rest of the room with piercing eyes. "This place seems busy. Company can probably be expected soon." She moved around, scanning over papers and a variety of other items. "So. Why is the Hand of the Undertaker investigation a random bandit fortress?"
