    @open to all!

A long time ago, Talia had risked her life and had begrudgingly humiliated herself in front of one of her many antagonists, in order to acquire a precious artefact from the goddess of life and love in the Aztek culture. In a place that pulled persons and things from myriads of worlds, she had not been surprised to find evidence of Xochiquetzal's presence and the gift that she had granted her in the shape of a flower crown with mystical properties. Talia had since attempted to use it, with various results and it had been clear to her that she would end up spending years studying and unlocking its full power, if the beings that ruled over Pandora allowed her to stay for that long.

But she was not the type to quit and cower in front of the great obstacle of time. Instead, she had decided to strengthen her efforts to tame the dessert and transform it to a green paradise with the use of the artefact's powers. And after weeks of continuous work, she had managed to bring water and green to the once barren rocky surface, completely changing the landscape of the area. Only, it was not as pleasant to walk through as one would have imagined, because the place resembled more of a swamp than a valley. But Talia remained determined, knowing that if she had the power to change entire territories, she could perform environmental miracles.

She was currently staying in her creation, studying the plants that were growing above the water with half her body submerged, with two Horizoners to accompany her, in case of trouble. But she heard them screaming too late.

Something had been moving underneath the surface that had grabbed the two men before Talia had a chance to see it and now she was standing in front of a set of huge vines that had suffocated them. Only, they did not seem to stop there. Green eyes wide in horror, she could see the vines entering the corpses' mouths, transforming them from within. After a minute, all that was left of the previous humans were bones and leaves as the earth claimed them.

Fearing she would be next, Talia run towards the nearest banks, drawing the sword from her back, as vines emerged from all around her. What had she done?

Being a scout wasn't so different from being a thief, Zidane thought. He always had to be on the lookout for trouble, ready to escape at a moment's notice. The only real difference was that he was spending more time outdoors, as opposed to inside castles or mansions or whatever other wealthy locations Tantalus targeted. Also, much less precious items he got to keep for himself.

Still, it meant he could make money to help Vivi live a comfortable life, so he didn't mind. Trekking through the desert wasn't so bad, and most of the scouts he was paired with were pretty tolerable to be around, if not actually nice people.

The scout he had been paired with on this particular outing was not one of those. Somehow, the guy managed to join while only wearing the kind of heavy armor Zidane would've assumed would be detrimental to such a job. Not only that, but he seemed even less affected by the heat than Zidane despite that fact.

Also, he insisted on calling Zidane, 'Sir Zidane,' no matter what. So, Zidane was in a pretty crappy mood when the two stumbled across... a swamp? They didn't have time to consider the weird thing they'd just stumbled across, instead, they charged in when they heard screaming.

"More evil plants?" Zidane groused as he spotted the problem. A woman fighting off vines sprouting out of the ground. Not the kind that had brought them to Pandora, but more malicious ones. There wasn't time to question, or plan. The two immediately sprang into action, trying to cut down every vine that got too close to the woman.

Scorpius had been studying the strange plant growth for a time, just for his own personal research so he could sift through the various numbers and break up the routine nature o looking at viral mutations of cells all day. While the BOW program was going exceedingly well for Scorpius it was just the same routine day in and day out and it grew tedious after a while and when something caught his eye he'd allow for a temporary distraction. He was in the desert with two Super Mutant bodyguards and a portable cooling system, the heat of the desert was hell on his body if left unchecked he'd be going through cooling cores left and right and could very well end up dying before his guards could get him to safety, so instead he wore the cooling system on his back like a small metal backpack and strode between his two guards as they surveyed the plant growth from a distance, then his scans picked something up, slight activity underground, something was moving towards the heat signatures in the water. Scorpius decided to investigate further and he and his guards moved up.

As they closed in, what was happening became apparent, something was wrong with the plant life. Now that was something he truly wanted to research. He pulled the plasma pistol from his hip and fired into one of the vines, while signaling with his free hand for his mutants to open fire, the barrels of their miniguns whirred to life and their bullets tore through the plant life.

Though she technically wasn't a ranger or anything, protecting Horizon was still something she would do no matter what. When word came, Light was right there in the thick of it, Odin at her side slashing with his talons. Light had shifted into her ravager role, sending out small fireballs at the vines.

She didn't know the scouts, she didn't know Zidane but she stood next to him, fighting against a common foe. Her weapon, a gunblade, had been drawn and once she finished with the fireballs she took a few seconds to mentally shift into her commando role, her attacks precise and deadly.

Her blade cut through the vines, but she struggled with the more thick branches and she hoped for assistance at subduing the wrath of nature, otherwise she did not know what would happen to the whole swamp. Talia had only wished to help the barren land around Horizon, but her efforts had not produced the result she had expected. She could run away from the vines, but how could she forget the nightmare she had created?

So when she heard shouts and firing, as she tried to evade one of the vines that was dangerously close, she breathed a sign of relief. It only lasted for a second, as she was reminded that if anyone fell in the swamp and died, she would be the cause of their deaths. She had killed before and she would again, but she assessed her targets based on whether they deserved the life they had been given and their usefulness, rather than killing indiscriminately. As it stood, innocents being lost, or worse, protectors, was not something that she could easily stomach.

She leapt over an aggressive branch and away from the firing shots, noticing the two Horizon guards and the young woman that had come to aid. The men that seemed to belong in the same group she did not know, but assumed they were not from Horizon, or even from the desert, given their advanced equipment they held. She could discern which one was the leader and he seemed intriguing, but she hardly found the time to consider more, as one of the vines grabbed her leg, just as she was about to exit the green water. Talia groaned and turned her body to cut through the vine with her sword, but another vine emerged from the water and wrapped itself around her hand. A part for her wanted to call for the other's help, but she knew that this was kismet for the
    peril she had caused.

Zidane was almost ecstatic to see more people join the fray. It wasn't that he was particularly in need of back-up or anything; it was just that the more people were there, the less the Rusty-wannabe he got partnered with would focus on him.

In fact, as Zidane started to fight in-step with a pink-haired woman who seemed vaguely familiar (probably also lived in Horizon), his fellow scout moved away. They were focusing on different parts of the swamp, so their paths diverged almost completely.

The other scout got closer to the woman who was here first. As soon as he noticed the predicament she was in, he raised his sword and boldly declared, "unhand the fair maiden, rogue!" With that, he tried to jump close enough to slash at it with his sword. It was an awkward sight that had Zidane cringing from his side of the swamp.

Scorpius and his mutants continued to shred their way through the vines with plasma and bullets, Scorpius approached, flanked by their gunfire. Green projectiles of highly energized plasma spewed form his weapon but the plants did not seem to back down. Some idiot was launching themselves at the plants and Scorpius simply sighed, at this rate he was going to watch them all die and have less of a chance of investigating whatever creature controlled the vines. He stepped into the water, his plasma pistol keeping any roots and vines from touching him. He made his way to the woman, making sure to take his time so he could make sure he was able to remain in the covering fire of his mutants. With a chuckle he blast away the vines dragging the woman into the water and grabbed her wrist. "Excuse me, this might be a bit uncomfortable." With his impressive strength Scorpius tossed the woman towards the shore and turned to fire upon more of the approaching plant life.

A vine wrapped around his wrist and Scorpius let out a feral growl, biting into the plant and ripping it free, spitting out the remains with a roar. "Shred it!" He snarled to his mutant, his usual quiet and eloquent voice turning to a deep bestial growl. Scorpius trudged out of the water as the mutants tore into the same spot, trying to find the source of the plants with a scorched earth method.
