Usually, Riley didn't like to have his entire team out of their pokeballs, since that would lead to some level of disaster. More often than not, it was Gyarados who was left behind, since a 20-foot-tall water-snake was the hardest to keep under control. But whenever he visited Cascade Bay, he just had to let her out to enjoy the water.

So, some of Riley's team were enjoying the beach. Gyarados was pretty excited to be in the water, splashing around like it was just a big bathtub. The only other Pokemon let out were Lucario and Absol, since Riley was hoping to have a more relaxed day.

Absol and Lucario were playing tag, or were trying to attack each other, he probably didn't want to know. He just kept his nose in the book that he had picked up in town, sitting comfortably in the shade of a palm tree, mostly oblivious to what was happening around him. Gyarados's splashing and roaring was drowning out any other sounds, and his book was really engaging. That didn't stop him from noticing when Absol and Lucario managed to run right through his peripheral vision; specifically, he managed to spot Lucario charging up an IcePunch, which wasn't acceptable.

Before the hit could land, Lucario bumped his nose against the blue barrier that Riley created. "No battling," he instructed, "there aren't many Pokecenters around if you get too hurt." Lucario grumbled but seemed to comply.

That didn't make Riley let the force-field drop immediately, and the flashy ThunderPunch that followed was a good indication that he made the right choice. "What did I just say?" Riley let the force-field drop when Lucario crossed his arms and pouted. Glad to see that he had won their little argument, he started to turn back to his book, when he noticed something troubling. Gyarados had stopped splashing around.

He looked up, hoping to see that she had simply quieted down a little, but instead, she seemed to be watching Absol and Lucario with interest. They were both oblivious, but once Gyarados started lifting her tail, Riley knew exactly what was going to happen.

"Look out!" he instructed Lucario, who turned just in time to see Gyarados make a fairly big wave to send their way. Her definition of rough-housing was a little more than the others could take. Fortunately, Riley and Lucario both had enough warning that they had formed their shields in time.

It was only a precaution for Riley's clothes, since the wave had only been large enough to be a problem for Absol and Lucario, who were just close enough. The trees around Riley were soaked, but unharmed.

"♪ You are the ocean's gr- ♪" Shigure had started to sing near the water before he'd noticed some sort of water dragon's tail had sent waves towards the shore. The singer acted with haste, and created a small water barrier to block himself from the dragon's attack. At least the palm foliage was only soaked and hadn't really been damaged by such a large wave. But what manner of beast had Shigure encountered? Of course, he had heard from many legends of monsters across Pandora, most of them false or usually had a sensible reason (well, for the standards Pandora had set itself up for). But nobody had spoken of that water monster to Shigure - and he'd already heard a bunch of tales and false stories about creatures lurking Cascade Bay's waters.

He wasted no time when he pulled out his tome, the Singer's Score. He quickly had let the tome then levitate in front of him, the pages magically flipping themselves. A small water vortex had formed in front of the tome from thin air. The singer quickly had let out a few bars as the water vortex expanded, as within seconds it had grown twice the size of Shigure, who quickly aimed and fired it at the monster. He held his tome in his right hand, ready to either create another water barrier or attack again, depending on the monster's reaction. "Cease now, dragon of the water. There's no need for further hostilities. Return to the depths of the sea, or be subject to my song." He somehow had yelled to the beast in a calm, soothing way.

He had noticed a man with apparent control over two canine-like beasts as he approached the water dragon, but had no idea that she, too, belonged to that same man. In fact, it looked like the bipedal of the two canines had wanted to stop the water dragon, too. In fact, Shigure thought maybe the dragon had felt threatened by the dog-like creatures. The last thing he wanted was the man or his two mysterious creatures to be hurt just because they were relaxing on the beach. If only Shigure had known that the man owned all three creatures... He probably wouldn't have stepped in unless needed.

But there he'd gotten himself - straight in the middle of just a little rough-housing that had gone a bit too far. Then again, who else would've came to the true solution that the situation was in more control with less outside interference? Or that the young man who had tamed the interesting canines could also tame such a large and unpredictable wild card that was the beast in the water?

Luke had been meditating out here, enjoying the location with its beach and trees. It was usually relatively quiet and made focusing a little easier. He ended up looking up just as the sound of the wave rose up, and put up a Force shield to make sure he wasn't injured by it. He didn't have Jacen's beast calming ability, but tried to send out a calming aura, hoping maybe the creature would sense it and relax. He didn't recognize the creatures, but he was more than used to seeing strange things in his life.

As usual, things couldn't be easy for Riley. Somehow, he completely missed two people getting close enough to be worried by Gyarados's rough-housing. Riley barely had time to complain before he had to act.

As a water-type, the water shot at Gyarados wasn't particularly painful, but she had a fighter's spirit, and that seemed like a challenge to her. She turned towards Shigure, his sliding off of her like the water down her back.

In fact, she took his words as a challenge, and Riley realized with a start that she was starting to charge up an Iron Head to send his way. Before the stranger could turn into a smear in the sand, Riley pulled her pokeball out and yelled, "return!" The next second, she was nothing more than some red light being absorbed back into the ball.

With that done, Riley turned and smiled apologetically at the other humans on the beach. As fascinating as the other person who could control aura was, he had more pressing issues than pressing for details.

Such as Lucario, who was practically doubled over laughing at the awkward situation he'd caused. "Did you see that human's attempt at intimidating her? It was pathetic!" he cried. As usual, Riley was glad that he didn't have general telepathy.

"We are going to have words when this is over," he replied, before saying out loud, "I'm really sorry about that. She's... rambunctious? All of my pokemon have been missing battling a bit too much. I promise, she's not going to be hurting anyone."
