    April 28th Year 7

The ballroom was decorated in bright tones with a stylish and refined finish. The dinner would be prepared by the some of the best chefs in all of Pandora. The live band had a good reputation for variety and talent. It should be a wonderful night. Irene remembered her first time here at another charity event. As she ordered a designer to another table to add flowers, she glanced at one of the three pairs of french doors that led out to a balcony. Tearing her eyes away quickly, she continued to prepare for tonight.

Being the host meant she couldn't really leave and Robb would have to meet her here. She guessed very strongly that he would be right on time when most would decide to show fashionably late. Irene cleared the floor of preparation staff and took one last look before people would begin to arrive. Finally, she decided to change into her gown. It wasn't the golden dress she had chosen for her initial Pandora charity gala, instead it was a little more host appropriate. The black floor length gown had a few shimmery adornments in the bodice but was mostly plain. The silken fabric hugged her form until it hit her hips where it flowed out with a lightness that the color would never elude to. Her dark hair was softly curled and hung around her shoulders and down her back. Her jewelry were diamonds, necklace and earrings.

As she reentered the ballroom, the first guests began to arrive, passing the sign that told them this was a charity event for the Pandora Town Shelter. They were greeted by staff with drinks and hors devours. With a small glance at her bodyguards, Irene began to mingle with the first guests, on the lookout for Commander Stark in his first suit.

Giovanni had hosted many gallas before. However, this venture was riskier than he was accustomed to. In Kanto, he had many connections, including many influential and rich connections that he had both legitimate and not dealings. In Pandora, however, all of his prior work had dissipated and it was back to square one rebuilding his reputation. The stakes were higher here as well, what with Pandora never seeming to play by the rules. One minute everything could change and after dealing with that insipid Asriel, he'd learned it the hard way. He was still recovering from the losses he had suffered from his little warehouse incident. The galla was mostly a ploy to get the attention of other potential business partners. After all, a business could never pass up the chance to appear like it was saintly for helping those in need. Charities made money and reputation and it turn led to more money. The cycle was endless so it paid to appear to play with the good guys. Giovanni also knew there were plenty of scum that worked under the guise of nonprofit who genuinely he despised, primarily due to their lack of ambition.

What good was wealth when you only wasted it on fancy things? Giovanni had principles and while others would accuse them of being crooked, he on the other hand, saw them as the keys to his own success. Power was more important to him. Power earned you respect and the ability to do whatever the hell you pleased. It could also mean punishing your enemies. The more power you held, the more you could squash scum under your shoe like the bugs they were. Giovanni fulled intended to bring Team Rocket stronger and grander than ever. Pandora was his new opportunity to greatness and he fully intended on bringing it to full fruition.

He was wearing a standard black suit to the untrained eye. But those that knew their opulence would notice the designer material and cut. Giovanni knew that even when he was backed into a wall, appearance of power was everything. He would not be taken for some sloppy thrift store merchant! No, he was Giovanni, leader of Team Rocket and the whole room would damn well know it by the end of the evening. In his right hand was his signature martini that he occasionally sipped as he watched guests filter in. His eyes held the steadiness and predatory gaze of a hawk as he watched, though a warm smile counteracted the look. Giovanni could play the charm when he it was required. The guests needed to feel taken care of. After all, this was all in the name of the poor Pandorians that didn't know their way after being taken from this land.

His eyes trended over and noticed Irene standing in the distance. She looked sophisticated and enchanting, the perfect compliment to his galla. Once he'd heard about Ms. Alder's exploits, he'd known she'd been the right choice in helping host the galla. After all, she had the connections he was looking for and the poise to win over more. That and her ambiguous ethics only made her a better suited match for the business he was running.

After shaking hands and greeting others, Giovanni eventually made his way over to her. "Good evening, Ms. Alder," he greeted with a silky smile. "Enjoying yourself?"

Despite being from another town Roy Mustang knew that attending an event like this one might aid him in making political advancements, as well as being a good chance to represent Morhall in a good light and yet none of the political motivated reasons were the actual reason he had wanted to come to the Charity Gala when Riza had informed him of it. No the main reason he'd wanted to go to the gala was because it was a ball much like he missed attending from home and that he'd finally get to attend one with the woman he loved. He'd be able to dance with her and let the world know that she for some reason had chosen to be with him, he'd even get to call Riza his fiancee which still sent excited chills up his spine every time he got to call her that.

So with an eagerness he had not demonstrated for a ball in a long time had come over him as they approached the desired destination. Roy had dressed well, with a dark jacket over a lighter waist coat and red tie to match with his fiancee's dress, his dark hair elegantly styled back though as they walked down the street a few strands had already fallen loose to hang artfully over his face but he paid them no notice. Instead his dark, brown gaze fixed ahead of him as they entered the venue, he glanced to the woman whom he was with, once again taking in the blonde beauty that was @Riza Hawkeye before smiling slightly to himself as he shifted his gaze to their surroundings.

The place was decorated with a sophisticated elegance that Roy admired and then looking back to Riza he spoke"Ah, now this feels familiar... We could almost be home..." His voice was soft as he continued to guide them further into the venue so he could get a good look at everything and then finally he stopped saying"It is definitely elegant and the perfect place for you to be tonight Miss Hawkeye, dressed as beautifully as you are you belong among the pretty things." His words were meant as a compliment and the cheerful edge to his voice was easily visible as he spoke. Then his dark gaze went from Riza to the others in the room, wondering if they should try approaching anyone yet or just stick to one another's pleasant company for now.

Sherlock hadn't been to a ball in a while and usually they were the best places to do something he loved, observe other people and make observations on their lives. He dressed up for the occasion coming in a tuxedo with tailed jacket over a black vest with a white dress shirt. a black cravat around his neck and a golden pocket watch on a chain at his waist. On his head was a formal top hat and a cane, this one not containing a sword like usual, partly because he was worried they'd be checking him at the door and didn't want the bother of having to explain why he had a sword cane in the first place. As he entered the part he looked around and smiled, feeling a bit more at home. Sherlock was a little disappointed he couldn't even bring his pipe and find a place to smoke away from the other guests. He always found it easier to concentrate after a pipe or two but he would make do. moving through the crowd he picked up on people's interaction, deducing who was genuinely enjoying their company, and who was faking it for appearances.

Then he spotted her, the woman who was almost impossible to read. Irene Adler. He grabbed a glass of champagne and sipped it as he watched her, keeping his distance but always paying attention to where she was just in case.

When news of the ball had come to Riza through her various contacts she'd let the council of Morhall know, mostly in passing, as it was a Pandora Town matter and there wasn't too much love lost between the two towns. @Roy Mustang was inclined to change that and she couldn't really object. Having met with Hershey before and knowing the size and resources of the bigger town it was certainly better to have them on the council's side than against them. And if he was going, she was accompanying him. Of course, she let him wait and ask her, because it was wonderful that he could here, as they'd never been able to attend together on their world. That didn't mean she wasn't keeping an eye on him though.

Walking in on his arm was as wonderful as she'd imagined. She wasn't sure how she looked, but the dress he'd bought for her fit like a glove after a little stitching at the side, and her engagement ring sat over her long, red satin gloves. Her shoes were simple heels in matching red, and she held back her long hair in a bun with a golden hair stick capped with a dark red ruby. But what made her feel the most beautiful was having him there, at her side, and being there to support him openly. It brought a warm smile to her face, and she squeezed his arm gently as she took a look around.

It really was a bit like home- though here they were far more openly connected than they ever had been there. People talked and sipped drinks, and there was a dance floor, which made her a little excited rather than dreading it as she might have in Amestris, when random people would try to dance with her for the sake of intrigue. "I'm hoping people here take 'charity' a little more literally than they did in Central," she replied with a bit of a wry crook at the corner of her lip before it smoothed away. His compliment brought a loving look to her eye, though she managed not to flush. No doubt there would be time for that later. "And you look very dashing, Roy, as always. I've got the handsomest man in the room for a fiancee'. It's a good thing I don't mind kicking kneecaps." A hint of a jest, and a memory, and she wondered if, for once, she'd make him flush.

Standing by the door, Shane watched every guest that entered. Fancy events like this just weren't exactly his thing. But when Irene called him and said he needed to show, he wasn't about to complain. A paycheck was a paycheck. And hell, if he got to see Irene dressed all nice, then that was all the bonus he needed. Though he wasn't one to enjoy dress in a suit. Already he was feeling uncomfortable with the tie and dress shoes.

Underneath the suit however, was his gun and a small stash of ammo. After all, if that asshole Governor or anyone else on the list of people who wanted to hurt Irene showed up, he was going to be ready for them. So far Mr. Giovanni had provided his own security, though he'd permitted Irene to allow him to attend. Shane wasn't sure what he thought of the mob boss yet. The man seemed to be experienced and certainly knew how to work the room.

One of the guests caught his eye. Shane's eyes followed the man. It was then that he noticed he was watching Irene. Shit. Hopefully not some kind of assassin. In subtle movement, Shane summoned one of the other guards to take his post as he wove his way into the crowd.

Yet another high-class event being hosted by Irene and once again Genji was there to watch over her and make sure nothing would get out of hand. He wasn't sure if the whole charity event thing was something Irene was already planning to do before the whole situation with her being forced to marry someone she didn't love happened, or if this was just a means to further earn the affections of the unfortunate man that got dragged into this mess.

Genji still didn't know who that was, Irene didn't say it, leading him to believe she didn't want him to know. Still, he figured that this would come to light sooner or later. He had to stay by Irene's side during the whole event, after all, unless she wanted him to leave in order to attend to some more private matters.

For this event, Genji was wearing something a less formal, but still trying to keep good appearances. A red coat with white highlights over a gray shirt, a pair of red pants and his shoes... well, they were the same black shoes from the Christmas party, but it wasn't like anybody was going to notice or care about that anyway. He had considered wearing gloves, but he figured that they could be a problem if something happened that needed him to use his shuriken, so he left his hands uncovered for the night.

Genji was by Irene's side when she was approached by a man, likely the boss of the company that was also hosting the party. He remained standing there, saying nothing unless he was invited into the conversation. He kept an eye out for anyone looking suspicious, but he had a feeling that he wouldn't much to worry about that night. Hopefully, this hunch was correct.

Chanel was so excited to go to this gala. She didn’t really know what this charity was about, but who cared? She just wanted to be seen in this kind of place. It was good for the brand she represented, LexTech, but also for her own reputation, especially with these posters depicting her as a murderer…

And so, she decided to come with a long red dress and a fur coat. She had to add a little bit of Chanel there and put one of her numerous pairs of Chanel earrings to go with it. A little necklace and that flower bracelet were the perfect addition to her outfit.

She entered the beautiful ballroom – it had been so long since she went to one – and she looked around, smiling. It was definitely the kind of place she liked to go. Beautiful and full of rich people. Maybe she could finally meet someone decent to date in this shithole of a world!

She went and grabbed a glass of champagne, she had to look busy and not like a loser who went to a charity gala alone, without a date, and without any friend to talk to. She didn't want to be associated to these people who came to charity gala just by charity.

She pretended to be looking for someone, before sighing and rolling her eyes trying to persuade anyone who could have been looking at her – and there HAD to be people looking at her – that she was waiting for someone who always arrived late.

She took a sip of champagne – which was marvelous; she definitely had to know where it came from – before putting it on a table and taking out her phone, tapping on it. Her point was to convince others that she was texting that imaginary late person, but really, she was just commenting on Starkbook.

    Chanel's doppelganger

And if one Chanel wasn’t enough… Chanel’s doppelganger also joined for the gala. She perfectly knew the real herself was obviously coming here and why. The posters this Chanel had been putting up in the town were most probably upsetting her and she was definitely going to this kind of place to get a better reputation. She rapidly spotted the other her, standing next to a table, texting. Gosh, she knew herself so well.

Guess who came to crush her party?

The real Chanel took herself way too seriously, and this one had to do something about it, something like ruining her reputation (again) and to make her look bad in everyone’s eyes.

Her plan was simple; she had to look super nice with everyone tonight, make plenty of friends, give the real Chanel’s number to them and when they’ll notice how rude she actually is, and how crazy she sounds after being so nice to them the previous day before, they’d definitely believe the posters about her! Plus, she was also going to buy so many things at the auction and discreetly leave before paying. They’d go to Chanel, the poor girl who hadn’t bought any of these items she now had to pay for… It was going to be so funny to watch. Sadly, she wouldn't be there to see that.

Fortunately, she had found a very similar outfit as Chanel’s (this idiot had posted an #OOTD earlier that day). The only things missing were the accessories, she couldn’t find anything looking like those on time and just went with more simple-looking golden accessories.

The night of the gala had finally arrived. Which made Robb feel a little odd because he had been talked into wearing this thing called a suit . It was oddly uncomfortable and comfortable at the same time. It was tighter to his body than his normal clothing but it was also lighter than what he normally wore. Which was an interesting trade off. He just felt so naked in the damn thing. Couldn't take his sword. Didn't really have many pockets to put things in. Generally felt like anyone could have easily stabbed him in the back and he had nothing to block it.

Of course, those were paranoid thoughts at this stage of the game. He was already dressed and presentable, there was only the matter of showing up decently on time. Robb had managed to finish his reports for the day early before changing in his office. There wasn't any point in taking his suit home and changing there, Grey Wind would just get fur on it. He had taken the dire wolf home during his lunch break and had managed to keep things running as smoothly as possible regarding his discomfort with the suit. There was a purpose to this and Irene had asked him to come with her. To be her date, as having the Commander show up would help the purpose of the night. Help charities. That he understood.

It was a short trip over to where the Gala was taking place and Robb's name was easily on the list to get in the door. He didn't have to show any ID which also made him uncomfortable. Everyone knew who he was thanks to the couple of press conferences he had had in the last few months. Never anything he was comfortable with but it was what it was. The red head walked into the gala and took a look around. There was already a good number of people in here.

Robb managed to spot the lady of the night looking over everything and Robb made his way over, a small smile on his face. "Everything looks great, Irene." He said it in a way of greeting, trying to stop himself from fiddling too much with the suit. "You look great too." Tonight was going to be a night of compliments, Robb knew that. Might as well start out with the ones he really meant.

"Good evening, Ms. Alder," Giovanni's smooth voice caught Irene's attention and she turned as he continued. "Enjoying yourself?"

Irene gave him a smile, "Not yet, perhaps when things get going and I can see that there are no wild disasters. " She explained. Hosting things like this were a lot less fun than being a guest. All the planning and stress and now the night was here, she had to wonder if everything had been done right and would go smoothly. Everything was set up to warm the guests. Drinks first, that always got everyone more relaxed, dinner, speeches, accolades, an auction, dancing, it was all well planned out.

The familiar cane and top hat caught her attention and Irene realized that Sherlock had come to be social, which was amusing enough in itself. She hoped to see him dance tonight as she could hardly imagine the Sherlock she knew at a ball, let alone on the dance floor. It was a fond hope that she could one day have such a normal existence at his side but things had changed rather drastically.

Shane and Genji were the right choices for tonight, she thought, in case anything went wrong. She had informed them both of the threat of James Moriarty and the bomb he had set off, killing Irene's dear friend. She knew Moriarty would return, Sherlock knew it too and tonight seemed like his style. She would have canceled for fear that he would choose tonight to strike but things were too far underway to do so without any knee jerk reaction from the sponsors and perhaps from Moriarty himself. She gave them both a small smile and a nod.

Irene's head nearly spun when she watched as not one, but two Chanel Oberlin's walked in and made note. Her own twin was still around somewhere as well, which spooked her. She wondered if Chanel had actually made friends of hers. After her, the room was filling up fast and voices and laughter began to fill it.

Irene felt a warm smile spread over her face as she watched Robb Stark emerge from the doorway. Genji would now obviously see who it was she was charged with wooing to marriage. She was definitely fond of Robb now, which only made this worse, "Thank you." She said as he complimented, "A suit agrees with you, Commander Stark. Can I get you a drink?" She leaned in to give him a very proper kiss on the cheek. Turning back to Giovanni, she introduced the pair before explaining, "Giovanni's company is sponsoring tonight."

It seemed that Robb had been rather rude in the fact that he had missed the person standing on the other side of Irene. An easy mistake to make considering the amount of people in the area and the fact that he had been solely concentrated on Irene. Still he felt bad, as he was prone to doing when he had caught himself being rude. Thankfully Irene was introducing them in a much smoother way than Robb could have ever managed.

Irene leaned in to kiss him on the cheek, reminding Robb of how she had carefully kissed the back of his hand in the hospital. He smiled back at her. "A drink would be lovely." He managed to not say that he was uncomfortable in this suit but that was only because they had company. If it had been the two of them there might have been a few jokes tossed around.

"Well, it's a fine event." Robb really had nothing to compare it to but that was alright. It did look very nice and if a sponsorship was what made it possible for Irene, then it was a good thing. Still Robb wasn't going to be rude again, so he held out a hand to the other man in the monkey suit.

"Robb Stark." Even though Irene had introduced them, it was more polite to follow up with a handshake. He had learned that much in Pandora. "What company is it that you run, Giovanni?" Despite the fact that Robb was the Commander of the Watch, he didn't pay much attention to the ever changing faces in the crowd. He had been solely concentrated on his job and as long as there were no criminal charges on anyone at all, then he likely didn't know them.

Another person came over aiming to speak to Irene, a person that Genji could recognize as Robb Stark, commander of the City Watch. He had been on the news quite a few times by now and so it was hard to not hear of him. The way Irene greeted him made it obvious that he was the one she had been forced to marry in exchange for McGill's life.

Watching the two interact made him wonder if they would have been good friends if it wasn't for all the deceit going on here. Stark seemed to be a good man and Irene herself had said that he didn't deserve any of this, so perhaps she had grown fond him after having to do this, not romantically but enough to consider him a friend.

At first, Genji wasn't saying anything since he was supposed to be just looking over everything and making sure nothing went wrong, however, he knew that Irene wanted to use this opportunity to get closer to Stark, so he was unsure of what he should do now. Taking advantage of the fact Stark was distracted talking to the other man, Genji came closer to Irene.

"Do you still want me by your side? I figure you might want some privacy with the commander." He whispered to her, making it clear to her that he had already caught on to what was going on.

    ~Well it's a marvelous night for a moondance~
~With the stars up above in your eyes~

For once in his life, James was not planning on making himself stand out to please or impress or intimidate anybody. It was quite honestly one of the very first times James was trying to not stand out, and it was more difficult than he thought it would be. He'd arrived later than he usually would have-- aiming to be just on the brink of expiring past fashionably late, though it was a thin line between that and the level of lateness that conveyed, 'I had better things to do with my time than attend this party.' And even that territory was much too close to the level of lateness that begged the question of if he'd forgotten when the event started.

Waiting outside with the excuse of sucking the burning life out of a cigarette, Jimmy planned out the exact timing of his entrance with aid from his golden wrist watch. When the appropriate time came, he took one last long drag and then put out his cigarette, turning to walk up to the steps of the building. But then the two Chanels entered, and he swung right back around to grumble to himself and wait for another few minutes, knowing they'd bring everyone's attention to the doors. Walking in after them would be suicide if he wanted to remain the least bit covert.

So unfortunately, when he did enter, he was indeed past time for 'fashionably late.' Still, few recognized him, and he was glad some bumbling idiot like Mr. McNair hadn't shouted his name out for all to hear while pushing past fine folk to greet him. Luckily this wasn't the type of event Tom would ever really attend, to James' knowledge, and so far Tom didn't have an equivalent dumb ass filling in for his absence.

So Jimmy slipped in and quickly blended with the crowd, which he was not accustomed to doing, and which would be obvious to any close friend who noticed his slight awkwardness. The lawyer was wearing a dull black suit, having very reluctantly forgone a chance to show off his colorful suits. But it wasn't exactly dull. The dark fabric was high quality corduroy and made by some talented tailor, so it was plenty fashionable and wealth displaying for this sort of event. Upon close inspection, it very plainly did stand out against the fabric of the other black suits. His red shirt, although silken and nice, wasn't his best nor brightest hue of red. In his closet, he'd picked which shirt he wanted to wear, tossed it out of the equation, and so on until he used process of elimination to find the one destined for him tonight.

His tie however, was a pleasant and plain red and white diamond pattern, with a twist. Jimmy had found a tie perfect for the occasion, with crosses in every diamond. He'd counted around 60 of them in total, which he believed was plenty of protection should a certain demon decide to show up to this charity ball. The designs were just small enough that one hardly noticed their religious nature unless Jimmy was within conversing distance.

James had downed one glass of wine within five minutes flat, and really tried to work on his second one with some patience and tact. He was nervous, he was uncomfortable, and he was paranoid, but he hid it all very well under his usual bright smiles and conversing. He talked to a few select people that were mainly used as defenses against surprise ambush meetings-- people he knew would jabber endlessly about some very boring topics that nobody would want to join in and discuss. Meanwhile, smiling and nodding like usual-- even cracking a few scrappy jokes here and there when he could-- Jimmy searched for Irene. He saw her across the room, and her bodyguards were here. Thank God. There were a few other men around her, one of which was her co-host.

James used to be her co-host for occasions such as this.

Her future fiancé had to be here. Jimmy needed to know who he was. The observant lawyer also kept an eye out for Crowley, or even the man's much more affable and preferable doppelganger.

Irene turned to Genji, glad for his observant nature. He was trying to give her a choice some control over this which she didn't have at all, "For now, stay close." She requested, "I'll let you know." She whispered back so no one else could hear.

"Unfortunately, I have to get the night going." Irene told the two men, "With a speech. Please excuse me." She made her way toward the stage and the music called attention to everyone. People began to find their seats at the richly decorated tables. Robb Stark would find his near the front beside Irene's.

"I'm certainly pleased with the turnout tonight and I'll keep this short but I wanted you to know how important your donation is tonight and how appreciative I am that you're here." She looked over the crowd and spotted, "The Pandora Shelter is--" James. She paused, her throat suddenly closing up, "--is no ordinary shelter. It takes it upon itself to help nearly everyone who comes to Pandora in a very unsure time in our lives that we all know quite well. The shelter is where I started out and I'm sure it saved my life. If you could stand with me now, if the Pandora Shelter has helped you or someone you love, it would show just how important a place it is and how we need to help take up the torch so it can keep providing that service to others. Because, the next new Pandoran might be someone you knew or will come know." She very decidedly did not look at James. Waiting for people to stand, she went on, "We all have The Shelter in common." She smiled warmly over the crowd, "Tonight is to not only give assistance back to the Shelter but it is to celebrate it and what we all have in common. Dinner will be served next with a silent auction to follow and music. So, please, enjoy yourself tonight." With that, she carefully made her way down the stairs again, trying her best not to look James' way and joining Robb as dinner was served.

By the time dinner was done, Irene had had another glass of wine and was aggressively ignoring one side of the room. The auction items began to appear on the floor on tables. Harmless Pandora artifacts, old books, a myriad of artwork, and other trinkets of value were all up for auction.

"Are you ready for dancing, Commander?" Irene teased, "Thank you so much for coming, by the way, your friendship has meant a lot to me over these past weeks and I can't think of anyone I'd rather be with tonight." Small hints, she sprinkled them, hoping to have him catch on and react.

Robb found it all too easy to listen to Irene speak. He wrote her hesitation off as nerves in the beginning of her speech. It could have happened to anyone, Robb included. He found it difficult when all eyes were on him but he shouldered on. Of course, this was hardly gearing up for war or anything of that nature. Still he wouldn't fault anyone having a bit of a moment and Irene certainly moved on just as elegantly as she always did. That really was the best word for her. Elegant. Or perhaps graceful. Or.... it didn't matter, did it?

So the Commander listened to every word she had to say, all of his attention on her. Since he was off duty and there was obviously security. He could relax for a little bit. Maybe it was Irene's influence. She had told him to relax, had told him to enjoy life, and she had tried to help him accomplish that despite everything else she was going through at the moment. It was a sobering thought but his smile barely dimmed.

Besides they were moving along to the food and wasn't that one of the perks of showing up tonight. Fancy food he probably had never tried before. Which wasn't a blocked option for him normally, he just preferred to stick to his normal choices out of efficiency and laziness. A combination of the two. Robb followed Irene to where the tables were, pulling out her chair for her when she sat down and taking the seat beside her. Obviously. Where else would he sit?

He had no idea what was happening around the room. No idea what was going on around them or who knew Irene. What security was here for was a little more clear but Robb figured events of this nature always had security. Still the red head had no idea what was happening around them. His attention was focused solely on his date and hew as quite happy with that.

Robb managed to finish the meal around the same time as Irene, making good time and even managing to look neat in the process. He wasn't entirely sure what was going to happen next but the moment Irene asked him to dance, he remembered that she had brought up the fact there would be dancing. Another little smile appeared, though it was a little lopsided. "I suppose I can make an attempt." He rose out of his chair and held out his hand, ready to lead her to the dance floor.

He hadn't missed those words. The fact that his friendship meant something to her nor that there was no one else she would rather be with. Those were the sorts of things that stirred those odd feelings in him. The same ones that had risen in seeing her in that hospital bed or the way that she sighed or in her lips brushing the back of his hand. They were good things even if he didn't fully comprehend those feelings at this time.

Sherlock noticed the man coming towards him and sighed leaning back on the table and smiled his best smile. Whatever he was being singled out for he was certain he hadn't done but still he would just take his chances and sit back and watch the show. Perhaps he'd noticed his looks at Irene he supposed the man was one of the security force at the party but he would rather not make a scene at Irene's event and more importantly at a charity event. So he simply waited and as the man got closer he placed a finger to his lips and pointed at Irene as she began her speech. With a smirk he simply watched the speech unfold, it was a good speech and while he kept on that he looked to the man. "I am a friend of Irene's I'm simply here to support her on this night but I know that right now we have...issues that are best left outside of a ballroom. So for now I skirt the edges of the party sir. Sherlock Holmes if you're interested." He gave the man a pat on the shoulder and tipped his hat before taking a seat. He held no ill will for the security guard, he was protecting Irene's life, of course Sherlock would appreciate that he would take time out of doing that to check and see if he was a threat.

But he was also hungry and if the man wished to set this off through dinner he was welcome to take a seat and Sherlock would explain everything. Sherlock of course avoided drinking, it was a habit he mostly avoided doing at parties due to the other vice he had kicked. More extreme but staying sober any way he could was important.

Although he did spy on Irene some more, trying to figure out who the man she was with was. Perhaps she had found someone just like Irene had back home.

At Riza's words about the hope of this being more an example of charity than they had experienced back in Central his soft smile had become more of the well known smirk and other than that he made no response. But then Riza was responding to his loving compliments, her eyes seemed to gain a softer, almost loving glint to them and she was responding with words just as complimentary about him. He felt the back of his neck grow warm and the smirk shifted to something warmer as he responded"I doubt there will be any kicking of shins tonight, hopefully everyone here knows where to keep their hands... Besides if anyone needs to do any shin kicking it will be me, trying to stop all the gentlemen from trying to take you from me when it comes to the dancing!" He finished with a joke, a playful sparkle coming to his eyes as he did so, even so he lifted a hand to cover hers that were on his arm while his dark, brown gaze scanned the crowd.

Noting the host not to far off, as well as a few well dressed men, there was even a young blonde looking all for like she was anxiously waiting for someone. Another blonde moved around the edge of the room, perhaps who the girl was waiting for, then his gaze was drawn to a man who was not dressed in stand out clothes and was helping himself to a glass of wine or two while making small talk with one or two people. Curious Roy considered making his way over there, but decided for the moment Riza was more important so looking to her he spoke"Would you like a drink? I see a selection being served at that table over there...." Almost as he finished speaking the events host moved forwards, making a nice, but short speech and Roy listened, trying to read into the words before turning back to Riza as the speech ended, indicating the drinks table with a qeustioning look in his eyes.

The party seemed to be working like a well oiled machine. After Irene gave her speech. Waiters and waitresses started to circle the room offering guests drinks and other such party favors. On the surface and by and large everything seemed to be normal. Just people carrying out their jobs. But, unbeknown to everyone in the room. One of the waiters would be used as a tool. One of the waiters would meet a very sad and very untimely end tonight at the hands of one man. A man that waited in the shadows for the right time to show himself to the host herself. There was a small part of Moriarty that wanted to put on a much bigger display of power and control. He wanted to prove to everyone that he was ingenious and powerful. He wanted to flaunt himself like a celebrity having a baby or getting married.

However, the public at large would have to wait for the game to move to the next stage. Moriarty still needed to push his point home. He needed Irene to realize and understand that this was something she could not walk away from or not hide from. This was something much bigger than she could possibly fathom. This was something that could even cost her greatly. Granted, it would be much easier and much more simpler to have Irene killed. However, Moriarty had tried that trick back home by setting up that thing in the middle east. Although back then. Irene had Sherlock to help her. She had her knight in shining armor to swoop in and save the day. Therefore, it would be easier now just to have Irene killed right here and now. But where would the fun be in that? No, Moriarty wanted to play with her a little before exacting his revenge. Besides, Irene had built herself a very nice life here. She had friends and even people she cared about above herself. Moriarty wanted to strip that all away from her. Before he cut her beating heart out of her chest.

All the other waiters and waitresses carried out their duties to the very last detail. However, there was one that looked to be rather unwell. He was covered in sweat and seemed to have trouble breathing. After a while he even seemed to have trouble keeping himself stable on his feet. It eventually got to the point where the poor guy collapsed on the floor, taking with him a tray full of champagne glasses. Almost to the second after the waiter collapsed and panic ensued. Irene received a text message on her personal phone from a private number. The text simply read.

"Don't say a word to anyone and don't bother trying to help the waiter. He's already dead. I've made quite sure of that. If you don't want anyone else to die. Make your way to the side door to your right. I'll meet you there. Oh, and don't make a scene. Unless you want your guests to die next." The text was signed off with just an M. Which just made the whole thing that little bit more sinister and dangerous. If Irene did not follow the instruction exactly. Well...the waiter that collapsed would not be the only casualty tonight.

Irene wanted him to stay close for the time being, which Genji was fine with. He stayed alert as she went on to deliver her speech to the people at the gala, although he also tried to pay attention to what she was saying, as it was a fairly nice speech that highlighted how important the shelter was to Pandora as a whole.

Once that was done it was time for dinner and everything was going smoothly, with Irene making her moves on Stark and inviting him to the balcony and even managing to get a kiss out of him. Genji couldn't help but feel some pity for the man who had to be strung along just so Irene wouldn't lose someone dear to her. Looking at the two of them, he wished he could do something about the situation, but alas, there was nothing.

The sound of glass breaking snapped Genji back from his thoughts and led him to witness a startling sight. One of the waiters had suddenly collapsed, completely killing the nice atmosphere that had surrounded the event and replacing it with tension and panic. Genji stood closer to Irene now that her dance with the commander would be coming to an end, his left hand already grabbing the handle of the sword hanging on his waist, ready for a potential fight.

"Ms. Adler?" He slightly turned his head towards Irene as he waited for an instruction, his eyes focusing on all the movement going around the event.

Irene had come back from the balcony with Robb, her mind on many many things, one of them not being Moriarty. James was nowhere to be found, much to her relief. Her mind set to thinking as she danced with Robb again, but her mixed emotions were suddenly all but forgotten at a loud clamour across the room. She turned sharply, heart pounding. So much danger around her in the past few months that her initial reaction was to locate her body guards. And Sherlock.

Ever the comforting presence, Genji was near her and she locked eyes with him before parting from Robb and rushing toward her table, "I'll call an ambulance." She said, snapping up her cellular pone in her hands, "Just try and keep everyone away from him and calm." She said to anyone near enough to her to listen.

A text alert could wait. She called the emergency number for the collapsed man, migrating slowly toward him. Two other waiters were laying him on his back and checking him for injury. Giving the dispatcher an address, she explained his condition, or what little she knew of it before hanging up and trying to clear the area of guests. That's when she finally looked at her texts, praying it wasn't from James. After a glance, she suddenly wished it had been.

Her blood ran cold in her veins and Irene had to stop staring at her phone and get back to acting like this fallen waiter was her only problem, "I'm going to go out and meet the ambulance." She turned to Robb, he would absolutely be killed if he followed her, she had to keep him far away, "Please stay with him, keep everyone away." She asked, giving him a job other than coming with her.

She turned to Genji, unable to help her fear enough to to find the courage to go completely alone, "Please, come with me." The side door led to a service hallway and Irene started toward it, "Something's happened and I need to meet someone back here, we have to keep it quiet so don't let anyone else in. Stay by the door, whatever happens, whatever you hear, please do not react. No matter what, understand? If I call your name, I need you to get as many people out of here as possible." She told him, not waiting for an argument. She had no time for one or to explain. The commotion allowed her to escape generally unnoticed into the hall and she walked down it very slowly, expecting at any moment that he would pop out of nowhere. Heaven help them all if he ever learned magic.
