    SKILLS & ABILITIES

    Gymnastics
Rose spent a lot of her early life feeling unsuccessful and talentless. Having impulsively left school for a boyfriend at the age of 16, Rose found herself disenchanted and lethargic with world and after their inevitable break up, was left wondering what life was all about. What was she good for? What future did she have? She'd got pretty good grades in school, not the top of her class, but still good enough to pass. But what Rose prided herself on was her gymnastic ability. Okay, so she wasn't an Olympian but she had won the Bronze in the under-sevens gymnastics team. She was also a keen dancer. She used this skill to save The Doctor's life on their first adventure together, and the rest, as they say, was history.

Street Smarts & The Bad Wolf
It wasn't until the Doctor turned up on Rose Tyler's doorstep (and consequently blew up her job) that she finally began to realise her full potential. Being intuitive and a quick thinker enabled Rose to make smart decisions (most of the time). Her natural compassion and curiosity also enhanced her ability to pick up on things others wouldn't notice, with The Doctor noting that she always asked the right questions. She also briefly attributed God-like powers by absorbing the time vortex (and looking into the heart of the TARDIS) though this would have eventually killed her had the Doctor not sacrificed himself to save her life. Having grown up on a council estate and the "rough" part of London, Rose knew how to handle herself and had a quick wit and a strong will -- though some would call it a bit of an attitude.

    Extraterrestrial Knowledge
Having spent many moons travelling the universe with a very old alien, Rose had become pretty savvy when it came to extraterrestrial beings. She knew more about space and time than most humans, visited many civilisations and met numerous alien species. She learnt a great deal from The Doctor and used that knowledge during her work with Torchwood. While having nowhere near the knowledge capacity of a Time Lord, Rose gained enough experience to hold her own and know what to look for when studying the universe. Mixed with her experience at Torchwood on parallel earth, Rose became a valuable asset (if not the most valuable) to the organisation.

    PERSONALITY

Rose Tyler was the golden girl growing up; popular, witty and tough, she took no nonsense from anyone and was more than a little rebellious. Despite this initial cheekiness, her sweet, caring nature shone through everything she did, along with a unique sense of bravery that became essential to travelling with The Doctor. Young, fun and free-spirited, Rose brought joy, laughter and family to the Doctor’s life. Her sense of humour meshed well with his, and she was never afraid to stand up and fight for her own beliefs. Rose's most brilliant trait was her loving heart and great compassion. She acquired a deep empathy for not only humans, but species and creatures from all over space and time. Rose had the rare ability to look beyond someone's mistakes or their darkest self, even if they had wronged her or a loved one and show them the light. She proved herself capable of great forgiveness. She is particularly playful and flirtatious, and her love of chips was unprecedented.

Rose was not without her faults. Impulsive could be her middle name, and she was very selfish and possessive at times, especially when it came to The Doctor. She could be described as something of a heart breaker, careless with other people's hearts and inconsiderate of their feelings. This was especially true of her boyfriend, Mickey, who was left for dust once The Doctor arrived. She was perhaps a little too flirtatious for her own good, having a bit of a weakness for good looking men. Rose was also quite hot-headed, not thinking twice before shouting someone down if she didn’t agree with them. This led to self-righteousness and a jealous streak, with Rose rarely considering the full depth of her decisions until it was almost too late. She could be childish, uninhibited, and have a bit of an attitude, but Rose was human and her heart was always in the right place.

    BRIEF HISTORY

Rose was London-born to Jackie and Peter Tyler on the 27th April, 1987. Her father died in a car crash that very same year and changed the course of her life forever. His loss proved difficult for both Rose and her mum, and altered her entire character growing up, with the two struggling along alone together. Despite this, they formed a very close mother-daughter bond and Jackie became as much of a best friend to Rose as she was a mother. As Rose grew older, she sometimes felt as though she was the grown up amidst her mother's various nutty antics, but despite her slightly mischievous and impulsive ways (something Rose inherited), Jackie was the most loving, caring and self-sacrificing mum anyone could've asked for.

While not the cleverest in her class, Rose wasn't stupid either and could have done better had she applied herself in school. Instead, she found it a bore and preferred to bunk off and go to the park to look at boys with her mate, Sherrie. Rose was a little boy crazy in her younger days, and found herself in a relationship with a boy who was no good. Unfortunately, Rose refused to listen and left school with Jimmy Stone at the age of 16. The break up proved messy and Jimmy ended down a dark route that Rose refused to follow. Luckily, her knight in shining armour, Mickey Smith came to her rescue and the two settled down into a comfortable relationship.

By the age of 19, Rose was bored. Nothing happened in her life except work, telly and chips. Maybe she'd go out to a party now and again, and she enjoyed her social life, but overall, Rose wanted more out of life. She just didn't know what. That's when she met The Doctor. He was an alien; a 900 Time Lord with a machine that travelled through space and time. After a slightly unorthodox meet-cute which left Rose jobless, the two stumbled upon one another again and began a beautiful friendship. While The Doctor was initially standoffish and mysterious, Rose refused to give up and broke down his walls, with the two ultimately saving the world from an alien invasion. Impressed with Rose, The Doctor invited her along for the most exciting, dangerous and life-changing experience of her life. What else could Rose say, but yes?

Over their time together in the TARDIS, Rose and The Doctor went on to many adventures and saved many lives. One poignant adventure lead to Rose meeting her father and it was this experience in particular that proved a turning point for Rose. While she initially saved his life and changed the course of history, the result proved disastrous for the entirety of Earth, and Rose was left having to say goodbye to her dad all over again. Rose held those memories close to her heart and only admitted to her mother that she had met Dad during an emotional fight. She learnt the consequences of time travel that day, and how easily if could all unravel if The Doctor chose to throw caution to the wind, just as she had. While her time with The Doctor was the happiest Rose had ever been, it left her Mum and Mickey back home, worried for Rose's life and never knowing if she would ever return. It didn't dawn upon Rose how much The Doctor's influence had impacted their lives until she was confronted with it head on, and realised too late the true depth of her decision.

The Doctor's regeneration was another pivotal moment in their relationship, and Rose proved herself very much wedded to The Doctor when she broke open The TARDIS and looked into the machine's heart. This created a paradox of herself and Rose became the "Bad Wolf" -- a message throughout the universe to lead her back to The Doctor and create a connection between the two. By absorbing the time vortex, Rose was able to save The Doctor and the entire universe from the Daleks (for a time), but had ultimately killed herself in the process. To save Rose's life, The Doctor sacrificed himself and absorbed the time vortex with a kiss.

A new Doctor meant a new dawn for The Doctor and Rose, and with it came more adventures and a lot more running. Despite The Doctor's sudden change, he was still the same man, albeit with a different set of features and quirks. Rose's feelings for him were deepening and she realised she'd fallen in love long before his regeneration, and long before she'd realised she held that affection for him. All the while, she was dealing with a new set of insecurities and revelations along the way. It was a growing up period for Rose in many ways, especially with the return of Sarah Jane Smith, one of The Doctor's previous companions and the loss of Mickey, who chose to stay in the parallel world they'd accidentally landed on.

Rose and The Doctor became inseparable, so much so that it wasn't until they were forced apart and put in two separate universes that Rose had to say goodbye. Though her mum had voiced her doubts, Rose had decided long ago that she was never going to leave him. Her heart was made up. But then came Torchwood, then came the war between the Daleks and the Cybermen and together, they brought about the end of Rose's time on the TARDIS. While Rose finally had her family back, she had lost The Doctor in the process and was trapped on a parallel Earth for the rest of her days.

Years past. Rose began her new life with her family, but with one vital piece missing. She started work at Torchwood, and became one of the organisations most valuable employees. Having traveled space and time first hand, (and been a key element in Queen Victoria's creation of Torchwood), Rose had knowledge beyond almost everyone in the company and was the first to notice changing constellations. Darkness was coming, planets were dying, and this meant the walls between universes was breaking down. They needed The Doctor, and soon. Rose immediately volunteered, traveling alone through different parallel worlds and trying to find the one that would lead her home.

When at last she found the right universe, Rose almost witnessed The Doctor dying for the second time, just moments after reuniting. Thankfully, The Doctor found a loophole that transported his regeneration energy into a spare hand he kept in a jar (yes, really). Once touched by Donna Noble, The Doctor's companion at the time, this regeneration energy created a "DoctorDonna" -- a hybrid clone that was part human, part Time Lord.

The Doctor 2.0, as he became known as, went on to save them all, but committed genocide in the process. He was bred in battle, and full of rage and pain. What he needed, was Rose. Knowing his clone could finally do all the things he'd wanted to do but never could, The Doctor dropped Rose back in the parallel world with her family and gave himself to her -- sacrificing his own happiness in the process. Rose initially refused, furious at being brought back to parallel Earth and wanting to stay with the 'original' Doctor forever. The Doctor explained that they were the same man -- same face, same thoughts, same everything. The only difference was their human DNA. They could finally live a life and grow old together.

While Rose understood, her heart broke as she watched The Doctor and Donna disappear from her life once more. While she felt The Doctor's hand in her own, it was not the same one she'd held for all those years. Confused and unsure what to feel, Rose and The Doctor began their new life together, but it was short-lived. One night, Rose awoke to strange vines curling their way around her legs and despite her best efforts, she was unable to fight them off. Before she could even make a noise, Rose was transported through time and space and landed in a brand new realm called Pandora.

    ROLEPLAY SAMPLE

"Blimey, these are good!" Rose exclaimed to the man behind the counter, taking the chip-filled cone and popping one into her mouth. She let out a satisfied moan. "You’re gonna have to tell me ya secret ‘cause these are definitely the best chips I’ve ever had!"

Oh how Rose Tyler did love a good bag of chips. Sure, she’d realised long ago that there was more to life than eating them, but in her mind, you just couldn't go wrong with a nice bag of chips. They were her favourite food, and her favourite smell. They made her think of home, in a strange kind of way. Popping the last one into her mouth, the blonde jumped off her stool, gave a wave of goodbye and left the shop, letting her legs carry her wherever they pleased.

She came across a row of little shops and had been about to go browse at a particularly nice t-shirt when it happened. A long brown jacket and a great head of hair strolled out of a cafe across the street. It was in that moment, perhaps more than any, that Rose had really thought she was dreaming. How could it possibly be the Doctor, they weren't even in the same universe. Yet there he was, tall and slim and walking away from her. She blinked and he had walked straight into a swarm of people, vanishing. Her stomach dropped. Her eyes darted this way and that until she spotted him, there at the end of the road weaving through the crowd, the coat swishing around his ankles as he walked purposely in the opposite direction.
