Open Watson Washes Ashore on Pandora

Discussion in 'The Docks' started by John H. Watson, Feb 4, 2018.

  1. Feb 4th, Y7

Watson had just seen his best friend fall to his death off the Reichenbach Falls. His mind was reeling as he staggered backward as grief started to cripple him. He barely notices when everything goes black around him and it felt like he was falling. This snappped him out of his own head and caused him to look around at the blackness(At least he thought he was looking around. He wasn't too sure at the moment.). As quickly as the blackness happened it all stopped and Watson hit what felt like water. Fortunately, he could swim and he started heading for what looked like a boatyard in the dark distance. Eventually, he managed to drag himself onto the walkways that dotted the waterline. He was soaked to the bone but was alive. Maybe this strange new place is just the chance he needed to start over after losing his best friend.

Sherlock had traveled to the other towns very rarely, so rarely in fact that he barely knew anything of them. But a case always brought him to one in the end. And this case was one of those, pearls stolen, large quantities of pearls stolen from the surrounding towns in the forms of jewelry and decor. Then he’d tracked down manifests for large amounts of pearls being shipped out of Cascade Bay by a local harvestin company. The boats were getting good bounties from their dive crews. Or were they, he’d found one of the thieves and instead of catching and turning him in their he decided to follow him, and he wasn’t surprised when he reached a storehouse for the pearl diving contractors. All he had to do then was hide in one of the crates of stolen pearl goods and wait until he arrived at its drop off. Cascade Bay, it was an odd scheme, using a legitimate business as a front to legally hawk stolen goods to gain profit without having to risk black market sails.

The moment two men had tried to unload his crate he had sprung out and dispatched them quietly. Now he was making his way through the docks looking for the boat they were storing the rest of their haul on. That’s when he spotted a peculiar shape swimming towards the dock. It looked like a person, yes a person but was it one of the thieves? That he couldn’t be sure of, he grabbed a length of rope used to tie down one of the boats and tossed some of it into the water, if he hauled him in quick enough perhaps they wouldn’t be noticed.

  3. Watson saw the rope and grabbed it. Soon he was being pulled ashore and was laying on the dock next to a strange man. After coughing up a lungful of water Watson has to catch his breath before he can speak to thank the man.

"Thanks, mate. I appreciate the assistance. I was tired enough to drown almost."

He had no idea that the other was Sherlock Holmes and that he was on a case.

Sherlock blinked at the man and for a second was doubting that of all the people he could have found on their arrival to Pandora. It would be John Watson, at least he thought it was John Watson. The mustache seemingly matched along with the hair and just the nature of the man. He stood up and leaned on his can watching as John just laid there. "Well John...welcome to Pandora it seems....oh hell." He turned to see two men coming towards them, and from the look of them they seemed to be part of this pearl operation. He looked to John, probably not ready for a fight yet, he grabbed his cane with both hands and held it in front of his waist. He walked to the two of them and looked them over. One had a slight buckling at the shin, an old injury, hand in the pocket but from the indents forming on his outer pocket he could deduce he was wearing brass knuckles. He was short, around five foot four and a half, wearing a trilby that almost covered his eyes. Sherlock then looked to the other one, tall and thin, pointed ears implied he was an elf along with an almost golden skin tone, and amber eyes. Wheezing in his breathing indicated sickness or drug use, difficulty keeping air in the lungs.

"What are you two doing here this late at night?" One of them called out right as they reached Sherlock. He smirked and tightened his grip on the cane.

"Well my friend just arrived here but I was here to...."
He quickly jabbed the head of his cane into the stomach of the elf, forcing the air from his lungs, making him cough and wheeze as he doubled over. Bringing up the cane quickly he cracked the elf jaw, drawing blood that spilled over his lip. The Short man swung at him with the knuckles. With his free hand he pulled the trilby down over the man's eyes and swung his cane down, smashing the man's shin, with a loud crack his whole knee buckled and the man let out a cry of pain. Grabbing the hat again he slammed the man's head into the dock's wooden panels. The Elf was still on his back, holding his jaw and spitting out the blood the blow had drawn. With a light smack on the forehead with the tip of his cane he put the elf to sleep like he had his friend.

Turning back to Watson, Holmes placed his cane back down on the ground and smiled at his close friend. "Well Watson you certainly dropped in at a fortuitous time, what would I do in a fight without my dear dear Watson."

  5. Watson would have loved to have helped but the swim and nearly drowning had worn him out. All he could do was to watch as this strange man took on the two thugs. Upon closer inspection, John still didn't know why this man seemed to know him.

"You.... you seem to know me?"

He sounds exhausted as his brain was trying desperately to figure out who this was addressing him. When he finally figures it out his eyes light up with fond affection and even love. He's too sore to move much but he reaches out to touch Sherlock's hand lightly.

"Holmes old boy? I-Is..... Is that really you?I didn't.... I didn't recognise you at first...."

The Victorian physician could himself starting to pass out. The face of his friend kept appearing and disappearing from view. Eventually, he gave in and let the darkness take him. Questions would have to wait until later. What Watson needed now was warmth and rest before he caught a cold or worse.

Sherlock crouched down next to Watson and shook his head, well clearly it was not the same Watson but he did recognize him so hopefully he could explain everything to him in a quick manner then they could regroup with a new plan of attack on the thieves. "Watson yes it's me and you didn't recognize me because i'm not the same Holmes you knew, you see our worlds are like curre-...oh damn he's out cold." He should have expected this, winter season, bay water at night. No way he'd be capable of swimming for long without the cold sapping him of his strength. He grabbed Watson and stood, letting his body lean on him and grabbing up the man's trilby to cover his face. As he half dragged half puppet walked him off the pier he put on his best drunken stumble, slurred his speech, and would randomly laugh and say something hardly understandable. Just two drunks who'd gotten stuck on the pier at night after some debauchery. Not his best disguise but he hadn't had much to work with from the two men. "That's right me chav you sure did...d-did swim that mile you did."

As soon as they were far enough away Holmes made a decision of one crime being of a lesser nature than his friends health. He popped the lock on a car with ease and loaded John in, turning on the heater inside and started out of the Bay. He'd leave a tip to raid the boats later but for now he needed to get John back home.

  7. About halfway back to Pandora Town Watson woke up and groaned softly. He was still wet and he was now feeling very very sore from his egregiously long swim to the docks. He was also starting to feel sick like he was coming down with a cold or something.

    "Uhhnnnn..... H-Holmes? What.... What happened?"

He was whispering as he rolled over onto his side in a futile attempt to get more comfortable. His eyes remained closed because he was still exhausted and he was afraid to open them. This new world he'd landed in was similar in some respects but different in others. Like the vehicle that Holmes had borrowed. He smelled no horses and heard no horses and smelled no coal burning either.

"What.... What manner of contraption is this Holmes? A horseless carriage?"

Holmes had ever driven a car for an extended period of time before, he usually road in the back seat with a driver he'd paid or he would take some of the instant transport systems that weer hooked up to Pandora Town. He looked to his friend and turned up the heat in the car and pushed the AC vents in the direction of Watson, trying to dry him off and keep him warm. Although he was sure the cold waters had already taken their effects on him. He tried to keep the car straight as he got out of the bay town and onto untamed earth. He looked over at Watson as he woke up and started to ask questions, thankfully Holmes had prepared for such an event since his arrival and knew exactly what to say about such matters. "You passed out from the exhaustion, and no doubt the cold of the swim you took, currently we are in a car as I take you home to my apartment to get you a proper place to lay down and dry off. This car is a combustion engine powered vehicle that propels itself on four wheels connected by two axles. And it has in built heating." He turned up the heat once more and looked in the mirror to make sure no one had saw them leave the docks.

"Rest but try not to pass out, that could be dangerous in your condition."

  9. Watson was reeling as Sherlock dumped all of that information on him. As they left the paved roads Watson pulled himself into a sitting position so he could look out of the window. Unfortunately it was dark out so he couldn't see very much. So instead he leans against the window and gazes at the back of Holmes' head.

"I know you're not my Holmes but I'm pleased you found me. You're familiar. The shock isn't so bad if I have you to explain things to me. Thank you my friend."

Holmes stayed on the main route, and safest route to get to Pandora Town in the least amount of time. Watson seemed to be getting better but that didn't mean the elf and his friend wouldn't be found and then they'd be running from the whole gang. Pandora Town would offer a good way to avoid any who would follow with it's law enforcement and it's larger population helping hide them. He'd have to ditch the car, he had no desire to explain to anyone why he exactly stole the vehicle but by that time he was sure Watson would be walking again. "Yes well good to see you're taking this in stride mostly, Kate will be happy to see Uncle Watson again. Ah yes I should explain that before you meet her, I adopted the orphaned daughter of James Moriarty, she's just found out about her parentage and is...it shook her but she's recovering so do be gently with explaining why you don't know her, please."

Holmes knew she'd be upset at first but Kate was a smart girl and would be able to adapt to the situation.

  11. Watson blinks and leans forward a bit. He's not quite sure he heard Sherlock correctly.

    "Moriarty had a child?"

He needed some time to wrap his head around this huge piece of news. As if coming to this strange world wasn't bad enough he had to find out that Moriarty procreated.

"Are you positive she is his child?"

Holmes looked over to Watson, blinking at his confusion, he knew he wasn't from a world where Kate existed more than likely but he was certain in almost every alternate world Moriarty was still a successful family man. Still it wasn't that important he would still have to learn everything about Kate in either case. "Well Moriarty was a very successful professor with a wife, it makes sense he'd have a daughter, sadly after his supposed death at Reichenbach along with me, which in both cases was exaggerated to some extent, my apologies for having to trick you as well on that one old friend it was the only way to ensure his partners wouldn't come after you. But back on topic, his wife died, broken heart mixed with depression and a nasty drinking habit, Kate was left alone in an orphanage for two years before her father found her and took her away to keep safe while he hatched a plot to take over England."

He shifted gears as they got onto looser dirt paths. "And then he died and I took in Kate, she was too young to remember what happened...now she knows and I'm trying to make her understand."
