Perhaps, it had been pure luck, running into his former employer on accident. Maybe, it'd been meant to be, even when he didn't believe in that kind of fate. Fabiénne did, and she was the one who'd given him a job so soon after he'd arrived here. He really couldn't be picky, and with this kind of job, he actually didn't want to be picky either, if picky meant he wouldn't accept this job offer immediately. The hours were nice, Fabi made sure that he took long-enough breaks, and he really couldn't complain about the pay. Sure, at the moment, it was more than just sewing clothes - which he would've preferred - because one of the cashiers had called in sick yesterday, but working in this special boutique really was better than at Target or elsewhere. The clientele was different and much more comfortable to deal with. Most talked to Fabiénne anyway.

He was hanging some high-fashion dresses back onto their designated rack, as the door opened with a small chime sound. A teenage girl entered, her eyes wandering around the room with interest. Raphael pushed the last of the dresses back onto the rack, before he slowly approached. "Hey, are you looking for something specific?" he asked in a friendly tone. Something about this girl seemed special; the vampire felt weirdly fascinated with her, though he couldn't exactly explain why - he didn't linger on that thought for long though. Maybe it was just the fact that she didn't seem like one of Mademoiselle Azaïs' usual customers, which meant she would be something of a distraction for him, the first in literally two hours.

    It's silly and typical but...

Every now and then, Chise liked to make a trip to Ark City in order to buy things. Misty Hollow, after everything changed, became a much smaller community and while the local items were far from bad, it was an undeniable fact that the big city had much more variety. It wasn't a common thing for her to do though, in large part because she was a more... economical kind of person. She made sure she wasn't going to buy something unless she felt like she really needed it.

This time, she was looking for some clothes. Winter was coming soon and she had lost a lot of her original clothes in the transition from one world to another, which meant that she didn't have a lot to get her through the cold days. She was hoping to find some clothes that were to her liking in the city and that led her to visit one of the local shops

The instant Chise stepped in, there was already someone there greeting her. It was sudden enough that she was stunned for a few seconds, the words coming to mind but not going out through her mouth.

"A-Ah, I'm looking for some warm clothes. Because of winter approaching." She replied, feeling like she needed to explain her reasons for whatever reason.

Well, maybe he really had been a bit too eager to talk to a customer. The teen looked at him, wide-eyed, and clearly in surprise, before stammering about why she was visiting the shop. Raphael nodded slowly, taking a small step back though he hadn't even been inside her personal space yet. "Of course." His gaze traveled the room. Most of their clothes were commissions that had never been picked up - most likely because of Pandora being Pandora and randomly taking the customers who'd ordered them, away again. The rest represented the current collection Fabiénne had designed last season for the coming winter.

"The whole outfit?" the vampire asked, measuring her with a quick gaze. He surely wasn't gonna pretend he had a lot of experiences with luxury boutiques and how they worked - and perhaps he also wasn't the right guy to be selling things to customers, at least not when it came to talking them into buying more than they had actually wanted to buy. Raphael wasn't that kind of person who could take on that seller persona, which was arguably why he worked better behind the scenes. Yet, now, of course, he'd help this girl get something for the winter - but all that, while making sure she'd stay in her desired prize range.

"Um... multiple would be good, I don't have a lot of winter clothing at the moment." She explained, feeling a little awkward still.

It was usually easier for her to do this kind of thing when she had someone else like her. Whether it be Ruth, Alice or Nancy, usually a familiar presence kept her from feeling like she was being put on the spot and inevitably mess something up. Doing this on her own... well, she was trying to be more self-sufficient, but it still proved to be a bit of a hassle, especially when it was all done in such a business-like manner.

"I could really use some coats too." She added, although in hindsight that was probably included as part of the general "winter clothing" category she was looking for.

Multiple ones. Someone seemed to have money. Or wasn't exactly realizing that Coquelicot didn't really sell off-the-rack. It was still affordable, sure, but not even he himself could've hoped to get more than two entire outfits here without scratching at the line to being broke. But hey, maybe he'd find an elegante way to push her focus on that particular fact and then she could step back from multiple outfits herself. No need for embarrassing conversations and questions.
Or, Raphael would realize that the girl actually did have the money for it, and nothing would happen whatsoever. He was clearly overthinking this - another hint about why he really shouldn't be working in the front.

He led her towards the side, where some coats and sweaters were sorted onto a rack. Every piece a one-of-its-kind; faux-fur coats shared the space with apocalyptic looking jackets and summer-yellow sweaters. "Anything in the direction of winter jacket is piled together here. If something doesn't fit, we can change it for you - the same with any application you might be wishing gone or existent." he informed her while pushing the sleeves of his own white cardigan up his arms. Raphael might not have been smiling overly brightly, but he definitely tried to appear friendly. This inexplicable feeling of interest might've been helping with that, too.

Chise was really unsure of just how much she would be able to afford, she didn't even get to take a look at the prices before she was approached by this man, but as long as she could buy something, then it would be alright. She was taken to the side where there was a rack with a wide variety of options for her to choose from, although finding something that pleased her aesthetically could be more difficult than first anticipated.

"Alright, thank you." She nodded at him, showing him a small, sincere smile.

She began going through the clothes, trying to find something that she liked as it was just to not give anyone extra work. She came across a somewhat thick, pinkish red coat that really grabbed her eye. Once she went to look at the size of it, however, she saw that it was a size bigger than her.

"Oh, um... this one is too big." She spoke up in a sheepish tone, already starting to feel like a nuisance.

As she was searching through the jackets and coats, Raphael returned to the dresses he'd been handling, sorting them onto the rack after size - roughly, at least. Since none of them was a 'normal' size, as one knew from clothing store chains, this idea proved a bit difficult to realize. Maybe he should've sorted them after colour, or after length and colour. Fabiénne hadn't given him clear instructions and he was regretting not having asked for further ones.

Just as he had decided to actually go through with his idea and sort them after hues, he heard the teen's voice pipe up from a few feet away. Raphael immediately put the dress he'd been holding, back to where he'd taken it from and stepped closer to the only customer in the shop. The coat she was holding would've been too big for him as well, but he guessed, that was the perk of being a small person.

He'd heard the uncertainty from her voice, no matter how much she perhaps tried to hide it - there were rarely things the vampire didn't pick up on. And hell, he could understand her too - at least if his guess about her inner feelings was right - there had been a time, a few decades ago, where he'd been just as insecure as the girl was now. That was before he'd gotten his social anxiety under control, though, and perhaps, the time passed since then, was a huge factor in it as well. Barely any teenager was truly confident and knew what they were doing, especially if they thought they did.

"If you decide on buying it, we'd take your measurements and shorten it, that wouldn't be a problem," Raphael told her sincerely, and without one ounce of strain in his voice that could've made it seem as if he was just pretending that it wasn't gonna be a problem.

Chise was pretty sure she wanted that one, but in hindsight, it was probably better for her to find everything she was interested in first before trying to get it all to fit her size. That would probably be less of a hassle for everyone involved.

"Alright..." She replied as her eyes then began scanning the rack once again looking for anything that might grab her attention.

It took a little bit, but Chise eventually grabbed herself a dark blue coat with a kind of checkered pattern, except the squares weren't filled out. Funny, she was sure she had bought that exact same coat before, but maybe it was just a coincidence. Either way, she did like the design and, surprisingly, it was already her size.

She couldn't find anything else that pleased her aesthetically, so her eyes darted around the shop for a moment until she noticed that there were stairs leading to the upper floor.

"Are there more options upstairs?" She asked hesitantly.

For the most part, Raphael let the girl search the rack herself, pick out whatever she liked and didn't interfere with whatever choices she was making. She surely knew what suited her best; he himself always hated it when the people in stores stayed with him, trying to sell more things than he actually wanted to get - they probably had to do that, and that was okay, but he really couldn't stand it. Thank God he didn't have to do this for long anymore. The cashier would be back at work soon, hopefully and then he'd be allowed to retreat into the back of the shop, where he could listen to music and sew in solitude.

Until then, though, he'd at least try to be helpful, if nothing else.

His gaze went to the fancy glass-staircase that was leading to the second floor, before he shook his head slightly. "No, no, upstairs is the model agency, you wouldn't find any clothes for sale there," he informed her with a soft smile. "Whatever's down here, is all we have at the moment." For a second, Raphael paused, before adding: "Unless you commission something, of course." He tried sounding as factual yet friendly and chill as possible. Where some regular shop clerk might've listed all the options for those commissions already, Raphael merely felt like informing her about that, but left the actual decision to her.

A model agency? It sounded like this place was connected to fashion beyond just selling clothing articles. Chise felt a little bit of curiosity, wondering what kind of things happened upstairs... if there was even anything. As much as the shop looked like it sold some good clothes, it sure looked a little... barren. Maybe it was just the time she chose to drop by?

"I see..." She began stroking her chin a little, wondering about the part regarding commissions.

There wasn't anything in particular she really wanted, but knowing a place that could make anything she asked, for a price, could be useful when trying to think of a gift. After going through a long adventure looking for something she could give Elias for Christmas a year ago, she thought that this could be an useful resource, especially considering Christmas was right around the corner again.

... She wondered what Bigby and Peter would like.

"About those commissions... is it just for clothes, or do you make accessories too? How long do they usually take?" She asked, her eyes looking like they lit up just a little and a lot of the hesitancy in her tone seemed to have vanished.

There was pause, curiousity lighting up in her eyes when she nodded. Sometimes Raphael wondered what he'd hear, would it have been possible for him to read thoughts. He was glad that he couldn't, really; imagining hearing all those thoughts and having to learn to control it, so he wouldn't accidentally hear things he really didn't wanna hear, was frightening and sounded exhausting. But sometimes he wished he could've extended those psychic powers of his to a certain degree and know what a person was thinking, simply out of curiousity.

For a moment he had to recall their offers, but then Raphael nodded shortly. "Accessoires, clothes, bags, even jewelry. We're working together with a jewelry smith for the metallic items." Ms Princeton, an Elven woman Maurice had introduced to the vampire, who had then connected her with Fabiénne to extend her company's product range - his boss had been super grateful for that tip, asking him to keep Maurice in the spin for further contacts, and Raphael couldn't have possible told her then, how little he liked Maurice, actually, except for situations like this. It hadn't mattered, really. "How long it takes, depends on how much detail you want, what kind of item it is, and its size, mostly," he added. "If you're interested in commissioning something for Christmas, for instance, then it'd be a good idea to get the commission in as quickly as possible, because we're gonna be swamped soon. But, most of it doesn't take longer than two weeks." He could say that pretty confidently, actually, seeing how fast the smith usually worked, and how fast he himself was, when working on the clothes together with Milò or Se'ryk.

With a smile, the vampire nodded towards the register. "I can show you some of the jewelry and accessories we have here at the moment, if you want?"

It sounded like they could provide just about anything Chise could think of, making her all the more sure that if she wanted to get something special, this was definitely the place for it. She wanted to repay Bigby for taking care of her all this time and this sounded like a good way to do so. Of course, she wouldn't leave Peter without anything, that would be a little cruel of her to do.

The man's mention of Christmas made it wonder if it was that obvious that she was looking to make gifts, or if it was just a coincidence. Either way, it looked like if she wanted to make sure she would have the items ready for the holiday, she needed to make the commission as soon as possible. That was... a bit intimidating, she had to admit.

"I-If you don't mind." She took the offer, growing a little nervous again but this time, about the deadline she was given for this.

"Not at all." With an affirmative nod, Raphael led the young woman towards the counter, where he pulled a transparent box out from the shelf underneath the register. Within the box, smaller units were separated from others, holding unique pieces each, sometimes a set of earrings or rings of the same kind. Most of them were colourful and certainly unique in every way imaginable. A bracelet with gems in all colours of the rainbow, next to ear studs that had tiny bones glued onto them, next to pendants that were almost simple, fragile metal with ornate patterns cut into it.

Raphael cleared his throat, looking up at his customer. "We work with most materials, though rarer ones, of course, cost more when used in an item. But, by all means, if you're interested in a magi-crystal bracelet, then you'll get one. Madame Azaïs is further able to enchant items with certain runes - for those services, you would have to talk to her directly though." When he'd first heard of her powers, the vampire had been skeptical, mostly because of the rune-wearing shadowhunters at home - but Fabiénne's rune were different. Worked different. Were safe for mundanes and downworlders alike. He'd take them over angelic runes anytime.

Chise followed after the man and she looked closely at all the different jewelry available. Some of them were very pretty and colorful, but she didn't think either Peter or Bigby would be very fond of that kind of thing. Something more subtle was likely what they would like the most, especially Bigby. Speaking of... would he even want any jewelry to begin with?

However, the mention of enchantments got Chise curious once again. Depending on what kind of enchantment could be placed on those items, then she could possibly give something with a more practical use besides just being a nice accessory.

"Enchantments... Do you know what kind of enchantments does she make?" She asked, still looking down at the jewelry inside the box.

It wasn't exactly his area, knowing all the things Fabiénne could possibly make a reality with her enchantments. He'd seen her work, and he asked, out of pure curiousity. More than that though, and Raphael met his limits on knowledge about his employer's powers. The woman standing in front of him seemed particular curious about them though, so he recalled what Fabi'd told him. "Well, the most common ones are lucky charms, attracting luck, health and success. Secondly, her runes can increase mental strengths like patience, endurance, or they ease pains like heartbreak and loss. Thirdly, she can help with strengthening powers like clairvoyance, elemental magic, or protecting the wearer from mental invasion and curses. Madame Azaïs will gladly talk you through all the options if you decide for one."

The vampire watched his customer's reaction to it, trying to decide what kind of person she was in regards to magic. Maybe she was a mortal fascinated by these things, maybe a warlock herself, interested in whatever other magic-wielder's could provide. Perhaps, there was even demonic or supernatural blood running through her veins, even if it didn't change her appearance.

That was, when he focused on her smell more closely, more out of habit than out of a real danger - and when he did, the smell of honey, salt and acid became overly obvious. There was clearly magic existing in her bloodstream, alongside of something he could only categorize as slightly fae, whatever that meant in her case. Without having tasted her blood, he couldn't possibly say, if she'd been touched by them, or if she had some fae inheritance. Whatever it was, he was suspicious of it, even though she seemed like a kind, shy person so far.

    "Anything that catches your eye?"
Raphael asked, the smile having dimmed slightly, but hopefully not obviously. Maybe it were simply his personal experiences with the fae that made him slightly wary of her, though he couldn't say he mistrusted her - for some inexplicable reason. She just had this kind of aura that attracted people, he guessed.

All those enchantments sounded like they could be useful in some way or another. Bigby's job was one that could easily get him in danger, so any health, luck or protection that could be given to him would likely be very useful. However, something like a good luck charm... would he even believe in something like that? He was no stranger to magic, given who he was, but something as vague as attracting luck might be pushing it a little.

"I'll... have to come back later." Chise answered, then looking at the man. "Do I have to make some kind of appointment with her, or can I come back here anytime?"

This kind of service sounded... special, somewhat. Maybe it was because Chise wasn't used to magical things being treated like anything else, but when a place did both things, well, she couldn't help but think that the magic part of the business would be a bit harder to access.

Raphael nodded easily. "Of course, no problem." With that amount of options, he would've come back later as well, in all honesty. He also wouldn't have wanted to waste the cashier's time by standing around, and awkwardly looking at all the displayed accessories, but maybe that was just him. It might not have seemed that way, but Raphael still sometimes felt his social anxiety creep up on him, no matter how well he had it under control already - decades of training surely helped a lot in that regard.

After her question, he made an affirmative sound as well. Then, from under the counter, the vampire retrieved a notebook that looked well-worn already, and placed the accessories box back where he'd gotten it from. The pages were filled with week days and utterly many meetings and notes scribbled into the space between the headlines. Flipping pages until he found the current week, and then flipping some more, because it was already full. "Next week, Wednesday, at 3pm. Would that work for you?" Raphael asked, meeting the customer's gaze again, all business-like.

    It's silly and typical but...

So she did have to set an appointment. That was a good guess on her part. Next week... during the afternoon... That would be right after her last class and a little before she went to do her work. That actually worked surprisingly well for her. Looked like luck was on her side that day.

"Yes, that's a perfect time for me." She gave him a small smile.

All she needed to do was not get too held up with other things and she should be able to arrive on time, maybe even a little early. She didn't really have much of a social life outside of her school and workplace, so it wasn't like she had any plans for next week either.

"On that note..." She held up the two coats she had gotten earlier, both being too big for her size. "I think I'll just take these with me, though they're too big for me as it is."

If she was going to buy enchanted items she had to make sure she had the money to pay for it. Having two new coats was already good enough, she could do some more shopping later, after the appointment if need be.

"Alright, then I'd need a name to put down?" He held her gaze, his smile still present, writing down whatever she'd tell him, before closing the book and putting it away too. Fabiénne had a second one, upstairs on the second floor, enchanted to undergo the exact same changes as the book down here, meaning, if someone wrote into one book, their writing would also appear in the other one. Sure, an online table with shared editing rights would've worked as well, but Fabi rather worked with the things she was familiar with, and this kind of magic had already been in her usage back home, so why change it? Raphael admired it a little bit, in all honesty. It seemed hella convenient and useful; too bad he didn't have the magic powers to make these kinds of spells work.

His gaze fell onto the two coats she was still holding, then skipped back into her face. "Sure," he gave back, wondering for a few seconds why she'd do that, but deciding that it was probably some fashion trend he had no idea about. Instead, Raphael typed the prize into the register - because they didn't have a scanner - and told her what the two coats would cost together. A bit more than was probably common around here, but also not Marble-Hill-levels of prizes.

"Chise. Chise Hatori." She gave him her name, her lips shifting slightly in the form of a small smile.

With some luck, Chise could not only get herself some useful gifts for her "family" but maybe she could even learn something new from that lady. Enchantments could come in handy, if she learned how to perform them. Thinking about it, her free hand started fiddling with the green stone necklace she was wearing, one of the last remnants of her time with Elias and everyone else before she was taken to Pandora. The stone supposedly had a tracking spell put on it, which Chise wondered if it was an enchantment or maybe something else entirely.

Her musings aside, Chise pulled out her wallet so she could pay for the coats. She had some skill when it came to sewing herself, so she could properly mold the coats to fit her by herself and, if nothing else, it was good practice. With everything that went on in her life, she rarely had times for such hobbies.

"Here." She handed him the money, having just about enough in her wallet to pay for it and a ticket back to Misty Hollow.
