    January 17th / @Grant Ward

It wasn't one man down, not two or three but five. Five and counting. Billy had been in the arena as the soldier from Billy's first arrival to Pandora proved to tell him the truth: a pit and fight to the death to gain access to HYDRA. No, to meet their leader. Is this really necessary? Fighting in a pit of other brawlers just to meet some guy who owns an organization of who knows what? To him, yes.

In his world, Billy knew very little about HYDRA. It was mentioned a few times by Rawlins but only known as an organization designed for world domination. But somehow, Billy felt as though it means more.

As such, the fight ended roughly with six men down but Billy didn't make it out easy. Oh, no. Far from it. With a busted lip, nose bleed, and several cuts along his forehead and temple, he made it out alive. His current condition didn't matter but his physical being of being alive matters. The buff guy who stood guard and watched the entire fight finally gave Billy the 'okay' to proceed forward.

With the injured men Billy left behind, a spit filled with blood left his mouth to land on the floor in no particular aim. He left the arena, rolling up the sleeve of his shirt due to the sweat of being in there for who knows how long. What really matters is that Billy won and he can finally meet the Director. Quietly he followed, wiping a few blood stains as he felt the warm red liquid slither down the side of his face.

They made it, to a particular place in Blackhaven that seem unknown to him. A hideout? An established building? Either way, Billy didn't care. The man informed him to to wait and he did. He leaned against the wall, wiping some of the semi-dried blood along his mouth and side of his face. He kept his arms crossed then, waiting for the supposed Director to show up. He would hope this was all for nothing or else he'd really feel like a total idiot.

It felt as though time went incredibly slow, having to wait for two men to arrive back to him. During that time, Billy contemplated on whether or not what to do next: learn about HYDRA or just ditch this whole thing. He made it this far and he can't take those hours back even if he wanted to.

With another wipe of his face using the palm of his left hand, he heard the large man whistle towards Billy. His attention diverted from thinking to reality. Billy pushed himself off of the wall, arms dropping to his sides idly. Was the Director really here? If so, where?

Six guys down. Six of the toughest men that Ward pulled off the streets. They had all been vying for a spot in HYDRA, and they were all excellent fighters. So when Ward got a phone call telling him that one individual had beaten all of them, he just had to see the guy for himself. Of course, he had asked one of his men to run background checks on each of the men who had participated in this little recruitment fight club.

After Jason Todd, Ward wanted to make sure that everyone was vetted properly before joining the organization. And since he had just gotten word that everything checked out about this guy, Ward decided to meet him personally. He was now heading to a Blackhaven facility where he would personally welcome the man into HYDRA. Ward stepped out of his car, wearing a black leather jacket and jeans. He approached the Blackhaven warehouse where he was meant to meet his newest recruit.

The guy was leaning against the wall outside the building, and Ward approached him. The other HYDRA operative who was accompanying Billy nodded to Ward.

"Guard the front door. Make sure we don't have uninvited guests," Ward ordered. The HYDRA soldier complied quickly.

Ward then turned to Russo with a smirk. "C'mon in. I want to talk to the man who took out those men singlehandedly," he said while opening the door and holding it open for Russo. Inside, there was a dimly lit large space with a table and two chairs. It was time to talk. Once Russo was inside, Ward made his way over to the table. "Take a seat," Ward commanded as he made himself comfortable on one of the chairs.

"Guard the front door. Make sure we don't have uninvited guests,"

Words spread through and into Billy's ears as his attention lifted from picking at his fingernails. The long wait finally paid off, noticing the man in a black leather jacket and blue jeans. Both men are equal in height, giving the concept that Ward is a very powerful man. Just seeing him walking and his body stature proves his theory to be so.

Billy's eyes took a quick glance at the guard who followed Ward's order to stay watch at the front door. Is this place that much of an open target already? It could be though that did not really bother Billy for the most part. Instead, he was greeted with a compliment in which Billy could react to.

"C'mon in. I want to talk to the man who took out those men singlehandedly,"

For a moment, he paused as he watched Ward open the door to allow Russo inside. Immediately he noted how dimly lit it was, giving only a table and two chairs to sit on. Was this going to be an interrogation? A possibility that he had to weigh in and no doubt it won't be a problem for him. No words were said yet but a glance given to Ward. His expression was simply that of curiosity and soon, Russo ventured inside the room.

    "Take a seat,"

Following the order, Russo adjusted his slightly torn pants to ride up a little for better fitting. He sat down, arms easily resting on the surface of the table. Hands locked together with an eyebrow raised from his curiosity. At first, he was tempted to speak though he had a feeling it was not his place to do so. Instead, he waited for Ward to talk and during this moment, he observed him. He watched every feature of the man sitting across from him. Everything from his body language and his eyes.

Many questions have been processing in his mind, wondering if any of them will get an answer. Though, if things do work out here, he imagine those answers will fill in as they progress. For now, however, he remains to be the good boy and let Ward do the talking.

Ward just took a few long moments and looked at the man in front of him. He had the look in his eyes that Ward recognized all to well. And not only did he recognize that expression...he knew exactly where it was from.

Trauma. Hurt. All wrapped up in a neat bow, underneath mountains of relentless searching to find meaning in life.

Yep. Ward knew those eyes. They were the same eyes that he saw when he looked in the mirror every day. And suddenly, this man became a lot more interesting in the Director of HYDRA's view. He wanted to figure out what made him tick once and for all.

"So tell me..." Ward started. "Ex-military? Air Force, maybe? You sure carry yourself like a soldier."

"Ex-military? Air Force, maybe? You sure carry yourself like a soldier."

Straight to the point - something Billy already found interesting about Ward. The look of just plain boredom soon turn into an intriguing look. Hands were interlocked with one another, arms at rest on the surface of the table. Those words pierced through the air and out of his ears as sharp as an eagle.

"Marine Corps." He finally said as soft yet confident in his tone. "Then things sort of went to shit from there. Recruited by a Major and led by the Chief of CIA Cover Ops." Not that holding all this intel really matters in Pandora. Because let's face it: would Rawlins be here? Doubtful. There will always by a probability that he meant but the chance was one in a million shot.

Though, the entire time speaking, Billy took the opportunity to watch Ward's reaction. As if looking at himself in the mirror, the feel of suffering, abandonment, and pain reflected right back at him. Was Ward just as broken, if not, more fucked up than Billy? Most likely. Then again, being born to a meth addict mother who abandoned him since day one seem to be a whole new level of a low (high?) blow. Going from one foster home to the next before being placed in the Ray of Hope group home never gave Billy the kind of support and nurture from a stable family.

Let's not forget the attempt of child molestation. Yeah, Billy had some pretty messed up things going on in his life. And yet he managed to screw people over, including his once best friend. But that didn't stop him from doing what he did. He did it for the sake of his own reasons and he could of lived well off without Frank getting in the way of things.

"After a shitty mission that went wrong, I left. Ended up making my own company. Not that it really matters here either." Why? Because the last thing he needs is law enforcement of any sorts to dig into his business. Literally. Owning a private business in dealing with security meant ethics that could break with them. The headache and the unnecessary drama was something Billy wants to avoid here. "I call it 'Anvil.' It was a private military firm." And quite lethal, having to recruit ex-military or other law enforcers.
