Only the box is a world of its own.
We are a mass crossover based on the concept of Pandora's Box. Characters from nearly any fandom can be played here. Because of the endless character possibilities, we are canon only here at Pandora. Take a peek at our rules and plot information before starting your new life in Pandora.
Welcome to your all expense paid vacation! You and your partner have been blind-folded and picked up at your assorted houses. You're not allowed to see, nor speak to each other until you reach the location. Don't mind the hand-cuffs, they're for everyone's safety!
Once at the location, you handcuffs and blindfolds will be removed, and you're on your own from there on out! One of you has been handed an envelope explaining both the date, as well as some extra cash on us to make this adventure as worth-while as possible!
Have fun! And thanks for using us at CRUSH & BURN for love on this fine Valentine's Day!
The amount of money is up to you in the envelope.
The date ends when you decide it ends.
How your characters GET HOME from the date is also up to you.
Characters are free to bail from the date if they're not having fun.
Locations and pairings are final unless there's a SUPER VALID reason why your character can't be in a specific location. If so, just PM me!
Got a question? Feel free to @ milk in the questions channel, or poke milk privately on Discord/PM!
Your date is at PANDORA THEATER!
The theater hosts a large variety of plays, from satires to the classics. Ticket prices are low to attract the audience, and a way for some folks to make honest money.
Futaba hadn't really meant to be in the mix this year- just to get a look at the inner workings of the program and see how it worked. If it was this handy at matching people, imagine how great it would be for PvP!
Unfortunately it had some interesting file protection so here she was, in the dark again, heading toward a new and potentially awkward meeting. She'd dressed up for it at least, spurred on by the fact she had the dress and a faint flicker of 'how things should be done'. Thigh-high boots and a galaxy-themed hoodie finished it off. For a second she almost put on her cat-ear headband, but stuck it in her bag instead.
She didn't start out in great spirits but there in the car she got her shit together, spurred on by Prometheus and Ren's reminders in the back of her head to never, ever give in and give up. By the time she got there and was helped out of the car, the blindfold and cuffs taken off by the strange figures and an envelope handed to her, she was feeling more at ease. Blinking and putting her thick glasses back on she took a look around.
Last year she'd heard about people being dropped off in the craziest places, some very dangerous, and most often the premium package people too. But this was- familiar. She knew this theater, had watched so many films here in earlier and happier times. A small, slow, but happy smile spread over her face as she looked down at the envelope and then stepped aside to open it. Money, good, and a good amount of it. Well if whoever it was ditched she had the cash. Bonus.
Closing the envelope again she started to look for another figure that might have been recently unloaded. Some other Valentine's couples, really familiar with each other. Kids going in for matinee stuff. But there was one guy, still rubbing his wrists from the cuffs- and he was the only one, so it wasn't like this was a double-up situation. He was tall, dressed like a character from a fantasy MMO- which honestly she could appreciate because it was super interesting!- and pretty nice actually, kinda cute too. She watched him for a long moment, unblinking as a moment of nerves stung her and stilled her feet. Maybe if she was small enough she could disappear.
Instead she started toward him, stopping a few feet away. "Yo, sup?" she said in a curious but slightly cautious tone.
Noel had yet to find out who had signed him up for this and why exactly they thought he should be on the dating scene, but after only finding out that morning, he had decided to just go along with it. Not knowing just how he was supposed to dress, he stuck with his usual attire. Hey, at least he'd stand out, right? Sure, he could break out of the handcuffs they'd shoved on him pretty easily, but for now he would just go along with it. Still, he'd heard of blind dates, but never ones where you were literally blindfolded!
Quiet and patient throughout the whole of the rather short journey, once the blindfold and the cuffs were removed, he blinked as the sudden daylight seemed to burn right into him, letting out a low growl as he readjusted and his vision returned to that of a normal human. A quick glance at his hands showed him that he hadn't shifted, at least, but sometimes the keener eyesight and things crept up on him, usually when he least wanted it to. One day, he would get the hang of only 'turning it on' when he needed it.
For now though, he had other concerns, like his supposed date, who was most likely the short girl with the thick glasses that seemed to take up half of her face. Unlike him, it seemed she had dressed up for the encounter, although girls did apparently like to dress up (so he had heard). Nothing too formal, a black dress accompanied by a hoodie of sorts, so at least he didn't have to feel too under dressed.
Something else that didn't escape his notices was that she was nervous. He didn't really need to hear her heartbeat to work that out, but it certainly helped! So long as he didn't shift or doing anything else stupid, then she wouldn't have anything to fear. That, and he wouldn't go after her if she decided to bolt, at least not unless she was about to put herself in danger.
'Sup', she asked as he turned to face her, trying not to look down to much. This girl seemed to be even shorter than Yeul, if memory served him right, but not by that much at least. He felt a little weird about being on a date with someone shorter than Yeul, who he had seen almost like a little sister, but he was here now and would just have to make the best of it!
"Hey, take it you got caught up in this whole date thing too, huh?", he asked cheerfully, leaning down ever so slightly. He didn't want to offend or even patronise her by mistake, but damn this was going to be so awkward! Especially seeing as this was his first ever actual, proper date.
"Guess we should start with names then. Mine's Noel", he introduced himself, playing it cool even though he had no idea what he was doing.
There were plenty of benefits to being short- so many that Futaba didn't generally think of it as a negative at all. You could hide almost anywhere or sneak through all kinds of small spaces. No one could say you were too heavy for a piggyback ride or sitting on the back of a motorcycle. People let you steal some of their snacks and left you alone when you were doing your coding. Oh yeah, and it was hilarious when you ate more than them, even if they were a full head taller than you.
It took the moment when he leaned down for her to remember that yeah, there were some really interesting sociological responses from most people toward people of a lower-than-average height. It seemed to imply youth and immaturity, for one thing. And honestly, when you were vaguely fond of Crime and Mischief, sometimes that came in handy too. Not on a date though. Then it was just awkward for everyone involved. And as weird as it was, she couldn't blame him for it; after all, she might be wrong. Or it was just how he perceived things for now; cognitions could change.
She'd already started taking a half-step back at the lean, mostly on reflex and to open her field of vision, when the realization struck. Well, too late now. At least she hadn't bolted back or anything, just given herself breathing and seeing room. And she still smiled, cocking her head to give him a look-over. It was her general rule to take a picture with her phone of people she thought might be dangerous, just so there was a record- but he seemed alright. Besides, she could get one in a minute if she really wanted to, and her location was on anyway.
From his first statement it seemed like this date came as a surprise to him too. That actually made her relax a little; he wasn't some poor person looking for love that was now stuck with a nerdy gremlin! Maybe they could just hang out, spend some money, and see a movie. Unless she was misunderstanding. Probably better not to assume. "Well, they say it's supposed to be random! I've probably been worse places," she offered with a casual shrug and a smile, adjusting the strap of her backpack purse. "Hi Noel, I'm Futaba."
Having to move the envelope to the other hand reminded her that it was there. She should probably say something about it. "Oh yeah- they gave us cash for the entire.. date thing." A bit of a crooked tilt came to her smile. "Looks like a good bit. Want to find something to spend it on?"
While Noel didn't want to picture just what kind of places she could be talking about, he supposed that it could have been worse. They'd been left outside of the theatre, something he had heard of but never actually experienced. He suspected that this girl, Futaba, she introduced herself as, probably wasn't the same. She certainly seemed to be fairly relaxed, which meant that she at least didn't find the height difference thing too intimidating.
Bringing his attention to an envelope stuffed full of cash, Noel wondered just how much was in there. That, and just what they were supposed to spend it on. Obviously, the whole theatre would cost, but he was more used to trading, whether it be cash or goods, for things he needed, as opposed to random frivolities.
"Well, uh, we could try coffee or something. Get to know each other a little?" Smooth Noel, real smooth, but if they were supposed to be on a date, so it was the least that could be done, right? "Unless, you have a better idea", he added while trying not to sound too awkward.
She hadn't known what to expect exactly but a quick agreement and the offer of coffee wasn't it. Her shock passed as the crooked, impish-pixie smile widened and she gave him a longer look as he now had a positive point on his scorecard. Anyone who liked coffee was worth at least half a chance, and since he was cute, she'd even up that to 75% of one. He probably wasn't scoring her that high yet, not if he was still so nervous he couldn't appreciate the mischief inherent to her nature, but that was okay. She was an acquired taste.
"Oooh, coffee sounds good!" she agreed easily. "That's almost always the best idea." Leblanc came to mind instantly; the business was so much a part of her thinking that it couldn't avoid coming up when coffee, curry or any combination of the two was mentioned. That was the way it went with the family business and she'd been drinking the stuff since she was a very little girl- well, the original Leblanc, anyway. But it was really out of the way, and maybe too much, too soon for just meeting someone- even if her adoptabro wasn't going to be there. She needed to not be too much of a coffee snob right now. The stuff around here was fine.
Tucking the envelope of money into her pocket she glanced up and down the street, just to make sure she was remembering the place right. Her memory rarely failed her, but how you called it up mattered a lot. "Did you have a place in mind? If not, I know there's a few decent ones around here," she offered, turning and looking back at him, rocking on her heels a bit.
Futaba seemed happier than he had expected at the offer of coffee. Maybe she was one of these caffeine addict types? She sure seemed...chipper enough to be the case, but then maybe she was always like this. Still, he had half expected to be landed with someone who spent more time moping than wanting to actually interact. No use there being two of them, although he had been feeling better lately. Having his sight back and then finding himself stronger than he had ever been before had a way of doing that, although he had yet to find the real catch. That is, he hadn't lost control to the point that anyone had gotten hurt. For once he had felt as though he was in control, but this whole thing? If he could wing it and Futaba didn't hate him by the end, then it would work out pretty okay. He had a feeling he would have to keep an eye on this one though!
"Actually, no", he admitted a little sheepishly as she asked if he had anywhere in mind. Truth be told, it wasn't something he really did often. "Sounds like you might though, why don't we find out what's on in the theater and check one out? We got these free tickets, might as well use them!", he added brightly. He'd never been to a theater, but he had heard about them. It would certainly be an experience, although he could tell that perhaps that was the case for most things people did with this girl in tow!
