By the hands of the Gods, you have been plucked from your time and from your world, dropped into the box.
Only the box is a world of its own.
We are a mass crossover based on the concept of Pandora's Box. Characters from nearly any fandom can be played here. Because of the endless character possibilities, we are canon only here at Pandora. Take a peek at our rules and plot information before starting your new life in Pandora.
Welcome to your all expense paid vacation! You and your partner have been blind-folded and picked up at your assorted houses. You're not allowed to see, nor speak to each other until you reach the location. Don't mind the hand-cuffs, they're for everyone's safety!
Once at the location, you handcuffs and blindfolds will be removed, and you're on your own from there on out! One of you has been handed an envelope explaining both the date, as well as some extra cash on us to make this adventure as worth-while as possible!
Have fun! And thanks for using us at CRUSH & BURN for love on this fine Valentine's Day!
The amount of money is up to you in the envelope.
The date ends when you decide it ends.
How your characters GET HOME from the date is also up to you.
Characters are free to bail from the date if they're not having fun.
Locations and pairings are final unless there's a SUPER VALID reason why your character can't be in a specific location. If so, just PM me!
Got a question? Feel free to @ milk in the questions channel, or poke milk privately on Discord/PM!
Your date is at ATHENA ARTS AMPHITHEATRE!
A magnificent paved amphitheatre offers breath taking views of Cascade Bay’s rugged landscape and twinkling sea. It is the main headquarters of the Pandora Dramatics Society, who are always eager to perform their plays in front of a crowd. The amphitheatre is also used in other artistic pursuits, ranging from poetry readings to small scale alternative music concerts.
Riza wasn't quite sure why she was here. Blind dates had never been her thing- not unless she really needed to get some information or play the part- and she was sure she'd have remembered signing herself up for a dating site. She had no reason to! Firstly, it still seemed somehow bitterly disloyal to a thing that was absolutely impossible to resurrect as far as she knew, something that Roy himself would have told her to push forward through. But secondly, a blind date meant that she had no control over who she'd be spending a day with. It wasn't her style.
When the car had shown up for her she'd started to put up a rather loud protest- but the eyes of those around her told her that there were two ways this could get into the papers. One described the local leader throwing a fit over a holiday, and the other mentioned something besides any of this. She honestly couldn't have given a damn over it, except that with the attacks by the masked man, the city was already looking warily at itself and each other. So she calmly held out her hands for the cuffs, let them put on the blindfold, insisted that Black Hayate be allowed to come with her, and accepted her fate.
At least she wasn't being marched to act as a yeoman to Bradley. This was already a step up.
When she got out she had to admit that the view was lovely, though it took a few minutes for her eyes to adjust enough for her to see it. Hayate had hopped out right afterward and was watching carefully as his mistress was set free, a little stiff-legged and wary at the odd situation. "Good boy. It's fine now," she told him with a slight but soft smile before turning back to the figure offering the envelope. A moment's surprise passed over her face as she took it, quirking a brow, and she opened it to look at the money inside. She started to ask what it was for but they were already gone. Hayate relaxed now that it was just the two of them, his tail wagging the slightest bit as he looked around.
Well then. Swallowing down an awkward sigh she took a look around, brown eyes taking everything in as she waited for a sign of whoever had been chosen as her companion for the day.
Surprisingly elaborate for a joke, Phoenix initially thinks, even as he scrawls a semblance of his name across the indicated areas of the sign up form. If nothing else, worth the brief rush of amusement and fond memories of a world still far too unfamiliar for his liking - and if not that, then something to pass the time besides the day to day monotony of nighttime work.
Not that he's entirely inexperienced when it comes to dating, but there's always been an aversion to the idea that takes root in the past. If she still continues to haunt him after all this time, then the best solution is to create new associations with the term, test his limits past the invisible connections which only exist back home. Phoenix even picks out a passable button up shirt and jeans for the supposed 'date' of the occasion, hidden underneath his typical over sized hoodie and sweatpants right up until 'they' arrive. Easy to discard and put back on when it's all over, the slightly uneasy feeling of fingers carding through hair in the newfound absence of a beanie.
One pair of handcuffs and a blindfold later, Phoenix - for not the first or second time in his life, ironically - considers the possibility that this might just be an elaborate ruse for arrest after all. Though, as far as past experiences go, it wouldn't be the worst way to end up in jail.
But reality has hardly ever followed all expectations, proven when the eventual destination comes into focus. The sound of car tires in the distance and Phoenix is left blinking sun spots out of his eyes, tugging at the collar of his shirt with the sensation of metal still lingering on both wrists. A view of the sea with surrounding natural scenery - even back home, such a sight had been a rarity seen by only a select few, Phoenix himself not withstanding. Worth taking a second or third look at, even when the (surely) other person involved comes into view.
"You're also here because of that...dating service, right?" Phoenix takes a few seconds before approaching, one hand in his pocket while the other fiddles with a corner of his shirt. The subtle half-smile comes easy, as it always does - where difficulty lies has always been in finding the right words to say, how to pass them off as sincere when the truth hasn't always been so simple. "Name's Phoenix Wright." Hesitation, a glance at her dog before offering an outstretched hand. "Nice to meet you."
your post was wonderful! thanks so much for starting, please feel free to let me know if you'd like anything changed in this post. <3
She didn't have to wait long, taking in the sun-dappling over the stone and water, before the sound of another car drew Hayate's attention, his ears perking. The sound of a car door closing a moment later caught Riza's and she turned that way to see who she had been paired with. Keen eyes caught the physical details quickly enough- a man around her age, perhaps a bit older though not so much that it was really obvious, with spiked and somewhat messy hair. Not terribly imposing, but looks could be deceiving- her own were, from time to time. Some awkwardness, perhaps, because a blind date was rarely a comfortable situation. Nothing struck her as strange, or inherently dangerous. And she was very used to trusting her instincts.
As he started over she turned to face him, Hayate staying at her heel and sniffing the air as the stranger approached- neither the woman or dog nervous but both steadily, patiently waiting. The fact that Hayate didn't react negatively was a good sign in Riza's book; he'd always been keen about people and danger never came with a lazily wagging tail or a canine smile. She still wasn't sure exactly how to react, but it seemed like sincerity was the way to go. This man didn't look like someone who deserved anything besides that and she had to admit that she needed to meet more people. Making a new friend, at the very least, would be worth it.
"Yes, that's correct," she answered him in response to the question before taking his hand and shaking it with a firm but polite grip, a slight but warm smile still on her face and reaching her eyes. "I'm Riza Hawkeye and this is Black Hayate. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Wright. Or.. do you prefer Phoenix?" It seemed strange to be familiar so quickly, but this was supposed to be a date. Maybe she was just old-fashioned.
She hesitated for a moment after that, then let go of his hand after the handshake was over, not quite sure what to say next. "Are you allergic to dogs?" was the first thing that came to mind, so she said it. Probably better to know, just to be sure.
@Phoenix Wright ((OOC: I'm SO sorry for the wait! <3 Thank you for the reply.))
Nothing inherently off about her at first glance, which is always a good sign. Phoenix taps into instinct which has always been 50/50 when it comes to serving him well or not, finds that no fiber of his being senses anything worth keeping his guard up over. For all he knows, this could still be a trap waiting to spring, but it's a rare occasion when the elaborate set-up proves more reassuring to the overall situation at hand. After all, why go to all that trouble when they could easily have dealt with him back then and there, with no way to escape and even less of a trail to follow, if any?
"I don't mind much either way." Smile rough around the edges, worn even further when he speaks - Phoenix lets a sheepish expression creep forward to hide his brief distaste at the momentary slip of the tongue. "But if you're not against it, Phoenix would work better." Even after so many years, the professional motions come easier than any standard interaction ever will. "I can call you Miss Hawkeye if that's what you want, though. Or Riza. It's up to you."
Hesitation shows itself by means of fingers curling against the fabric of his jeans. Again, the urge to run them through his hair as the handshake ends, even as he turns his attention to the dog at her side. "No, nothing like that." Calmer than the dogs of his recent memory, with an aura reflecting that of the owner herself. "I've actually worked with a few police dogs in the past. None as well behaved at him, though - he seems nice." Phoenix directs a small smile at Hayate, respecting etiquette which tells him not to touch without permission, not yet.
i'm so sorry about how long this reply took! i should be much faster now that things aren't so hectic. <3
His smile was rough, slightly raw, one that was almost unfamiliar to the person who was making it- and to be honest that made her feel more at ease. There was no dissembling, no attempts and making a silk purse out of a sow's ear, as helpful as it may have been to his own pride or sense of control over the situation. Sincerity was much more trustworthy, even if it said that he wasn't really sure about her any more than she was sure about him. It was fair that way. Not everyone knew what the Ark Chancellor of Ark City looked like if they lived there, much less people from other areas. She was grateful for that.
Well, if he had a clear preference, she could match that easily enough. "Phoenix it is. And it would be a little inequitable, considering the situation, if I insisted on formalities. Riza is fine for me as well," she answered him easily, using the time after the handshake to adjust the strap of the purse on her shoulder. At least this had managed to come along with her. It would really suck to have it left behind for someone to go through it- even if half of the things were replaceable, some weren't. And it was always nice to have the extra ammo, considering the unpredictability of Pandora's events. For all she knew, this place was right on the border of a sea monster breeding ground.
Hopefully not though. A Valentine's date was about all of the potential peril she could stomach at the moment.
Hayate sat down and waited patiently to be addressed, tail still wagging, and Riza's smile widened a little at the praise directed her dog's way. "Well, he's not a police dog, but he is clever. Black Hayate, say hello to Phoenix." With that, Hayate raised his paw and waited patiently for it to be shaken.
