Coquelicot Agency- October 16th, Year 109
@Weiss Schnee

Ark City was massive compared to Yokoya village. Flying over the rolling hills only to see a sprawling settlement of stone and metal had surprised Kyoshi. It was a stark reminder that this place was as far from home as she could get, and nothing like anything that had existed in thr Earth Kingdom. Maybe it even eclipsed the Fire Nation in technical prowess. Did people still go hungry and suffer from crime here, or was this glimpse at the far future meant to be better than that?

Pushing aside the potential of a more "enlightened" society, Kyoshi needed clothes that actually fit in her. Well, she wasn't too concerned about looking out of place, but the temperature was beginning to drop and sleeping in her armored robes was not an appealing thought. Finding a more permanent shelter was also on her list lf things to do, but for now, Pengpeng was more than willing to let Kyoshi rest in her saddle at night. The sky bison deserved her own protection from the elements though, so a house would be the next step.

The first one was building up the courage to explore by herself. Kyoshi left Pengpeng at the city outskirts to wait, not wanting to draw attention or upset her friend with all the lights and sounds. From there, it was only a matter of asking around until someone pointed out a tailor or merchant. A tailor would be better than having ill-fitting clothes to last through winter though. While she was still somewhat of a sight in her dark green robes and worn leather boots, she held no reputation here, and so no one stared at her height or her plain face covered in freckles. Keeping her white and red makeup off had been a smart idea, even if she missed the strange confidence it brought.

After looking through the window at the sample clothing displayed (how did they find such bright colors and interesting fabrics?), Kyoshi dared to open the Agency's doors. She was never going to get used to not having to duck to enter rooms, all the doorways were so tall here... On habit, she caught the door and gently closed it behind her, moving further into the shop with uncharacteristically light footsteps. Even after living in the Avatar's manor, this building had its own sort of intimidation factor. It looked expensive and highly planned out, and she was a little afraid to touch any of the clothing stands in case they somehow broke.

Work was more of the same, a monotonous routine of greeting customers, plastering on a smile that was quick to fade once she turned her back, counting money and convincing customers that they couldn't return something they so obviously wore before - all the while attempting not to scream at the idiocy of some of those in this world. People were remarkably annoying, but, still, she had her far less annoying friends to return to, so it wasn't all that bad. She still felt like she was meant for more than routine and urged to do something more with her life - and she figured she would find something more lasting than retail work when she felt a little more stable in this world.

Working around people with so little respect for her was draining in a far different way that combat was, yet, regardless, she reminded herself that she had to contribute to rent somehow, and, at the very least, she wasn't being pulled in and out of this world like some of her friends were - and then randomly yanked back in. Maybe vines would sprout from the floor and drag her back to Remnant in an hour, but as long as she would here, Weiss would assume she was sticking around. It was the only way to keep sane, honestly, and she was happy enough.

A woman in… robes entered, immediately drawing her attention due to how ill fitting her attire was with everyone else around. It looked comfortable, maybe, but it certainly made her stick out with all the normal attire surrounding them. Maybe it was normal in the woman's world and in other parts of Pandora (she couldn't know), but here, it looked weird.

If anyone was in desperate need of fashion help, she definitely seemed like it.

"Hello," Weiss greeted cordially, forcing a small smile as she approached the woman. "Do you need help finding anything?" She was prepared to offer suggestions, but she would wait for the woman to confirm that she needed the help before doing so.

Kyoshi stopped as soon as Weiss spoke, worried that she'd done something wrong already. Her assumption turned out to be completely wrong, and the young woman was offering help. Well this was...strangely nice service for a first time visitor. Kyoshi was used to being ignored by most shopkeepers until she proved she wasn't just wasting their time browsing. Perhaps it worked differently here. She certainly needed some help if she didn't want to wander around cluelessly. Despite being a foot taller, she still somehow felt nervous with the stranger's attention on her, and she tried to at least keep eye contact instead of looking away.

"Um...Do you have any casual clothes?" she asked. A lot of what was being displayed looked ornate and very decorative, definitely not sturdy enough for her purposes. "Something that would stand up to traveling, if that's possible." Kyoshi trailed off, wondering if she had enough money to cover this. It couldn't be that expensive...well, unless it was tailored to fit.

The woman was incredibly tall compared to her (likely over a foot even while Weiss was in heels), yet somehow, the customer seemed a little nervous around her. While she didn't want the stranger to feel any sense of nervousness, admittedly, it was nice to feel like at least this woman wouldn't be yelling at her over not having a particular item in her size, or something.

"We have some," she nodded, immediately turning towards the back of the shop at a brisk pace. "Do you want pants? Skirts? Coats? Casual shirts, or nicer blouses?" She spoke while walking, trying to gain some sort of estimate for what she wanted so that she could best help the stranger. "Do you have any colors you like? Fabrics you prefer?" Upon reaching a smaller section near the back of the shop with more casual clothing folding rather than hung up, Weiss stopped and waited expectantly for the girl's response.

Kyoshi hadn't expected her to walk off, but she caught up in a few strides. Those were...more questions than she expected to hear. There usually weren't that many choices to make. She accepted whatever clothing someone could find for her, but she did at least have an idea of what she liked.

"Pants and a coat would work the best," she said. A skirt would have to be long and multilayered, and that could get in her way. "Uh..anything green or brown is fine." The two colors that were the most prominent in the Earth Kingdom. "Or a dark red." She'd grown fond of that color too. "...And I'm only really familiar with cotton or silk."

She nodded as the woman spoke, and while she seemed fairly indecisive and lacking knowledge concerning fashion, that was where Weiss came in to assist - as was her job considering she was the active store clerk of the hour.

"What's your budget?" She was already in the least expensive section of the store, but she could ensure she just looked at the cheapest options since she wasn't in the business of wasting her time and letting tall girl's hopes be crushed. "Let's go with red and brown." Green and red clashed, and green and brown would make her look like a tree, so, no.

"I'm assuming you're looking for comfort, then," Weiss noted with the mention of the fabric, sorting through racks. "Silk will be more expensive than cotton, and it's less found in pants and coats compared to blouses and skirts and dresses, but we have plenty of cotton based items."

On instinct, she almost said her budget was low, but that wasn't entirely true anymore. As much as she hated Jianzhu, he'd left her a lot of property and values behind. One of the few times his twisted sense of duty worked in her favor. She had the foresight to store a good amount of coins on her person before Pandora took her, and converting it had given her enough funds to last for a couple months. Kyoshi didn't feel bad about spending his money.

"Enough for it to not be an issue, but I don't need anything too expensive." Cheap clothes weren't going to be useful if they wore down quickly. Red and brown sounded fine. Not overly flashy. She was worried that the silk might rip too easily unless it was very well sown together, so cotton was probably the smarter decision. "Comfort and nothing restricting in case of..." Kyoshi paused before she mentioned fighting. Would that be odd to say? Maybe? "Er, I practice martial arts, so..." That sounded less like she was going around trying to assault people.

She offered another nod of acknowledgement in response to the woman clarifying her budget, which was good, as while cheap options were possible, it wouldn't be as fun for either of them.

The mention of not wanting something restraining in case of martial arts was met with a raised brow, as, clearly, the woman was fairly new to this world. It seemed, at a minimum, half of this world was capable of fighting, so it didn't come as a shock, but the stranger likely just came from a world where it was a less common occurrence.

"I fight, too," she assured her conversationally, knowing most wouldn't suspect her current outfit to be conducive of battle, but she would never part with her combat skirts. "But most people don't prefer to fight in skirts, so I'm assuming you'd prefer pants?" She took a few steps to the side, grasping a pair of soft, light cotton pants of a dark brown shade - they weren't pretty, but they looked durable. "These are hideous, I know, but they might suit your purposes?" She held them up, raising them over her eyes for her current customer to see.

Oh, she was trained too then. She felt weird for not realizing it before. Her mind immediately jumped to which element the shopkeeper used, and then remembered that wasn't as prevalent of a skill here. Kyoshi felt like she'd make a good water or firebender though, just by the way she walked and held herself. Or maybe she focused on a weapon?

"Yes, I don't think a skirt would work for me unless there's a layer beneath it..." she said, imagining the potential wardrobe malfunction. If she dust-stepped too high or airbent the wrong way, there'd be a large chance of revealing her underclothes. Not her idea of a good time. A hand went to her chin as she examined the cotton pants.

"They're probably not fire resistant..." she mumbled as she touched the material with a leather gloved hand, thinking out loud before she could stop herself. She blushed when her common sense caught up with her. "Not that it's a necessity, I didn't mean it like that," she backpedaled.

She nodded, knowing well herself that a layer beneath her skirt was a necessity due to potentials for flashing, and therefore, many found pants to be the simpler option. It was fine - this woman could just stick to pants.

Gods, this woman was almost too kind - not that she was complaining, but it was certainly a change from the often ridiculously demanding types, and it gave her a small amount of hope concerning the masses of Pandora.

"We don't sell any totally fire proof clothes." It was a blunt statement, but she felt it necessary to be truthful to the woman who clearly had fighting in mind. "However, some are less flammable, and I can offer you a fifteen percent discount to a store down the street we're partnered with that enchants clothing to bee resistant to certain elements, if you're interested, but it's still not very cheap."

It was a little too much to ask for materials that wouldn't burn, she guessed. That wasn't exactly something you bought easily. Weiss's soution only confused her.

"...Enchant?" Kyoshi asked. "Sorry, I'm not familiar with that process." Maybe she should be more honest if she wanted the most effective help. "I was more concerned about my sleeves catching fire when I...If I have to do this." She took a few steps away from any clothing for safety purposes and breathed carefully. A small flame burst to life in the open palm of her gloved hand. "Except larger than that sometimes. Would you think I'd need something fully fire resistant?"

Enchantment formerly was something only she knew from fantasy stories, so Weiss entirely understood someone from another world not knowing what it was to begin with. Honestly, she had just been here long enough to assume everyone knew the terms she had the time to learn in the past, but she certainly wasn't bothered by having to explain something to someone patient enough to listen.

"Basically, it magically adds certain properties. Like, if you paid them, they could cast some spell and make it so that the clothes will never set on fire," she explained slowly and as clearly as she could, hoping the woman at least knew what a spell was.

Although the woman had displayed no signs of aggression earlier and backed up a few steps herself, Weiss's heart still skipped a beat at the sight of the flame as the memories of a near death reignited, and she found herself ignoring the first few words in shock.

"What?" she blinked, forcing her worry to fade off her face. "No. You should be fine, as long as you aren't careless."

It all sounded fake, but then again...bending was also nonsensical at times. Kyoshi wasn't even knowledgeable on every aspect of her world, let alone anyone else's. She'd have to just accept that magic did what people said it did, which included repel fire. She'd see for herself soon enough. Her skepticism aside, Kyoshi was quick to shut her hand around her flame as soon as Weiss said "careless".

"No, of course not..." she answered, after wincing from the slight heat thst had soaked past her glove. The fire had gone out, but she'd caught herself with it for a split second. At least she couldn't burn herself through the leather. She could hear Rangi chastising her for not being more careful in general. Fire needed complete discipline. She wasn't exactly reckless, but she did get carried away at times. "I think the pants will work well then." And serve as motivation to not set them ablaze with her own hastiness. Well...it was best not to get attached to anything she found in here until they were fitted to her.

She hadn't meant to target the customer or allude that she was careless with her final word, but, often Weiss found her comments coming out as more biting than she intended - it was fine. It got rid of the fire, at least, which slowly worked to send her heart back to a more normal beat for simply standing.

"Perfect," she smiled with the hopes her expression didn't look too forced, but she still couldn't shake the sight of the flames that so effortlessly sparked from the stranger's fingertips. She wasn't Cinder. She looked younger, kinder, and it had just been an example - she wasn't going to try to impale her. It was fine; she was fine.

"Do you need anything else? A top to match? A jacket?" Gaze shifting back up towards the woman then forward, she began to walk towards a rack of shirts.

"I should probably... just look for a jacket right now." Saving money was always a good idea. There wasn't anything wrong with what she had on under her armored robes, and the jacket could go over it well enough. She'd seen the sort of jackets people wore around here, many of them much brighter in color and made out of a stiffer, water repelling material. Not metal, but not cotton either. "What color would you suggest to go with those pants?" That was evidently still an important thing to keep in mind.
