A few days ago, Vex'ahlia and Trinket had come across the abandoned farm. She'd stayed on the outskirts for one day and night, watching for someone to come and claim it– no such luck. Or rather, very good luck for her. She'd headed straight inside for the kitchen and flung open the cabinets, quickly clearing out a couple cans as she settled her hunger. As for Trinket... he helped himself to one of the chickens outside, the best meal he'd had in a while.
It was a quiet place, with nobody nearby. Likely not a sustainable place for Vex, who knew next to shit about farming, but a nice break from the forest she'd been living in largely since arriving. She'd slept in the bed she'd found, bathed in the well water, and fed herself off of what provisions were left that hadn't gone bad... as well as another chicken. She didn't feel bad for it. There were plenty, and nobody else to claim them.
One afternoon, she had fallen asleep on a worn, dusty sofa. Trinket was probably out wandering, maybe being a bear for the first time in a long time. Her thick black hair had been done in a tight braid after bathing, the blue feathers tucked behind her ear, and she wore loose clothing while her armor rested on the nearby table. Fenthras, her large bow of dark green, nearly organic appearance, rested on top. She barely stirred as the door creaked open; only when heavy foot steps fell close by did she shoot up. Dark eyes narrowed, recognizing a figure that had entered, just as she hissed loudly, "Shit!" and made a dive for her bow.
