Dec 9th, Year 109 || @Katsuki Bakugo

Ark City had its problems. There wasn't any concentrated area like Blackhaven where crime had taken over a district, but there were still pockets of places that people weren't supposed to go to and plenty of criminals that felt like throwing around their weight for no good reason. Toby used to handle this shit on a smaller scale but there was a gang that had a habit of starting shit in some local markets and one of the shop owners had hired Toby to clear out the issue. It wasn't exactly investigative work but it was a great way to get people to think twice about doing similar shit. After all, Toby Daye could mop the fucking floor with them and someone in the market hda her number.

Or that was the plan. Toby knew that her vigilante license gave her some leeway for jobs like this and she only charged the minimum amount to help cover the portion of the case that went into the office funds for insurance, Matt's salary, and the like. Beating up normal dumbasses, whether or not they had weapons, was almost a hobby to Toby at this point. She learned a good number of things when she put herself in these situations and she did some violence while also doing some good. It was a win-win-win, because Toby had also alerted the cops to her plans so they were waiting around a corner for the arrest afterwards. Everything seemed like it would be neatly handled, as long as Toby kept a lid on everything.

They had come in groups of four or five everytime and yet this time, they decided to show up in numbers. Shaking people down and telling stall owners they had to pay protection money. Toby watched them shake down the first two shops to get a feel for who was actually with the group. Six in the store, two look outs, and three back ups several feet away in the crowd. Toby picked them out, though they weren't too smart about it. Most of them wore similar clothing that stood out a little compared to the rest and Toby knew what she was looking for.

By the time they hit that third stall, Toby had pushed off the wall she had been leaning against and walked over easy as you please. She stopped right behind the main group of six and purposefully ignored their backup before calling out. "What the fuck do you dumbasses think you're doing?" No pomp or fan fare. Toby was dressed down in jeans, one old rock t-shirt, a winter jacket, and some winter boots. Not her normal leather get up but it was cold and she fucking hated the cold. Her weapons were currently hidden under her illusion but one of the thugs turned around to advise the bitch she was barking up the wrong tree. One of the main six stepped up with a baseball bat and Toby looked at him calmly with a slight tilt to her head. "I double dog dare you." The baseball bat came swinging at her face and Toby easily caught it in one palm, arm not budging an inch despite how the thug seemed to have a good forty pounds on her with ease.

Toby ripped the baseball bat from the man's grip with that same motion and then flipped it around and caught it by the handle with the same hand. One swinging strike later, and the thug had slammed into a brick wall. One down, nine to go. The rest were pulling out various weapons and crowding towards her. And Toby? There was a flash of a feral grin before she started to move in response. Ten against one? Probably bad odds for most people, but Toby wasn't most people anymore. It was time to get to work.

He just wanted some food that was spicy and different. Katsuki taking a different way home than usual from school; finding himself cutting through some market he never really paid much attention to. Hood pulled over his features, backpack on one shoulder.

It had been almost a month since he and MJ died.
Or...whatever the fuck that was.
Katsuki waking back up in his bed, as if the entire thing was a damned dream.

Fuck whoever did that.
Fuck whatever that entire thing was.

Since then, he tried to up his training. No way in hell he was letting anything like that happen again. Ever. So there had been more runs, more pushing his power. Without a school like UA, he sort of felt like he was fucking stagnating, if not getting worse.

He really couldn't fucking let that happen.

Hands tucked away in his pockets, as he browsed the stalls; eyes lifting a few times to study some people that couldn't have been more suspicious if they tried. Bakugo purposefully ghosting by a few of them, trying to overhear what they were saying to the owners of these stalls.

Wow, not even fucking talking in code or anything.
Just openly pushing these people for payment.

"What the fuck do you dumbasses think you're doing?"

He couldn't have said it better himself - glancing up at some chick. Katsuki had noticed her leaning by some wall earlier. Thought she was just waiting for someone, honestly. But apparently she was doing the same thing he was; watching.

They were quick to hone in on her - a baseball bat swung after she dared them to.

Bakugo ditched his backpack to get closer, to try and stop---

She caught it. Arm not even shaking.

Chick had a Quirk.

Then she pulled the bat from him and---

Bakugo smiled as the asshole hit the brick wall - seeing a similar expression on her face, as they ganged up on her. Hadn't even noticed him yet.

Perfect.

Cracking his knuckles, he rolled up his sleeves before rubbing his hands together - trying to warm them up before he tried to use his Quirk.

With a laugh that some people said wasn't very 'hero' like (whatever, fuck them), he slammed his hands into the backs of the two closest assholes near the back of the group, and gave them a nice taste of his Quirk.

They, of course, screamed and fell over. Bakugo laughed, and stepped over them - raising his hands as he got ready to actually fight.

Toby liked it when idiots crowded in. Her semblance was a cheap trick, or at least that was how she thought of it, yet Toby was more than willing to use any trick in the book to put someone down. It was one of the things she had always passed along to whatever teenager she managed to try and help. There was no honor in fighting. Not if you wanted to survive the unexpected. You hit people to make them stay down, unable to get back up that fight. Sometimes unable to breath if you needed to take that step.

So she was a little different from a lot of other people with superpowers. She had been the weakest thing around for almost her entire life and now she wasn't. Toby knew what it was like to fight against a wall you couldn't break, but she hadn't cowered in response. At least... not all of the time. She hadn't let that difference break her entirely and Toby had to do that with her life now. Toby couldn't let Salem break her or change her. She had to struggle against this wall of fear too.

Toby was just taking everything just a touch more seriously. And when people grouped up like this? Her semblance became the strongest thing she had in her pocket. There were a thousand different things she could do in responding to someone as slow as a regular human. The information had been overwhelming for most of the year. Her body a little slower to responding than she would have liked when she needed to fight someone stronger. Someone supernatural.

The brunette slammed the heel of her hand into one guy's face, striking hard enough that he'd go down as well. If she broke a cheek bone, well he had just been shaking a man over seventy years old about money. Toby didn't give a shit if she broke a bone. Not in a world with magical healing. She sidestepped a swung crowbar and then kicked another man into the same brick wall the baseball bat had met up with. Then there was an explosion Toby's head jerked in that direction and she took the next hit to her shoulder. Her aura blocked it easily, the man pulled his hand back with a yell.

There was a kid, a young teenager, who had grabbed onto two of the ten. There was smoke coming from his hands where he had grabbed them and those two were down. Toby ducked another another swing, looking confused for half a second but unable to slow down or stop what she was doing to figure it all out. Five were down and the back up was charging in from other points. Toby slammed an elbow into another thug, making it six. But now she was keeping an eye on the spikey haired kid at the same time, because there was another element to consider with what she was doing.

The chick took a hit, because she heard his Quirk go off. Considering what he had seen of her - she could easily handle it. Still wasn't exactly ideal to get the person he was fighting on the same side of, hit. He could already hear pretty much every teacher at UA yelling at him for being shit at teamwork. He knew, he knew, he knew.

With one last hit, she took out a sixth - making Bakguo's two look like horse-shit. He needed to up his game.

Using the slight break in the action as reinforcements started to file in, Bakguo launched himself in the air, before using his explosions to propel him directly at one of the reinforcements that was headed right for her. With an extra kick to the punch, the guy went down hard. Three to six. He could do better than that.

Landing roughly next to her from the attack, he offered her a nod with a smirk, before refocusing on the assholes that were headed right towards them.

Toby had never seen anyone just make explosions appear out of their hands like that. She couldn't even begin to guess what it was or how he had managed to do it. In a crowded place like the market there were a thousand different scents of magic and the like. Maybe he had an invisible weapon. Maybe it was magic. Maybe it was something new entirely. Toby didn't know shit all and she didn't have time to over think what a teenager was doing in the middle of this.

There had been enough teens sticking their noses into trouble already in Pandora. Toby seemed to trip over a new one every other week! She knew more teenagers likely to jump into a fight trying to do something good than she had fingers! Except this kid knew how to use these explosions as more than just a weapon to be used against others. That was interesting to the changeling.

Not that she had too much time to think about it.

There was only one guy left. Toby figured he was the most likely to cut and run but... Toby was damn well wrong. The last man was closer to the kid and then he was pulling something out of his jacket. A gun. Something that was decent easy for people to pick up in a world like Pandora. There were plenty of ways to get one in Blackhaven or other shady parts of towns and every capital seemed to have its own Blackhaven. "DOWN!" Toby didn't think about what she was doing. The changeling just yelled at the teen while she charged forward, to put herself between the man and the kid, even as her hand came up. No one was getting shot if they weren't one of the dumbasses.

She couldn't chance deflecting a shot in this crowd, nor a shot of her own. Toby was a decent shot but she didn't want to chance that kind of shit if she didn't have to. Which meant there was one other way to handle this to make sure no one really got hurt. Her left hand shot out to the gun and grabbed the barrel of it. Normally something pretty much suicidal if you didn't have an aura. The gun went off and then Toby's hand was crumpling the barrel of the damn thing, one eyebrow lifting before she rocked her right fist into his face.

Final one down. Toby let the gun go and the crumpled form fell to the ground. She shook off her hand, which was now covered in gunpowder, and hissed slightly under her breath before glancing back at the teen. "You alright?" Toby thought so but she wanted to make sure.

As Bakugo landed next to the chick, he realized there was only one left. Hands lifting to blow the asshole away. Then the guy reached into his coat, and the chick yelled down. Normally...he really wasn't one to listen to orders. From anyone. Ever. Because he fucking knew what he was doing, and didn't need someone to tell him what to do. Teachers...sometimes. He accepted that maybe they knew shit he didn't. But normal people? Fuck no.

Yet when she said down, he listened. Backed off and dropped to the ground - as the chick came in and...oh fuck there was a gun. His eyes wide wondering if he just made a huge mistake and got someone killed for it. He had seen this chick take a hit. Seen her kick ass. But...putting her in front of a gun instead of him felt wrong. She clearly had a Quirk of her own - maybe even a pro. But without knowing that, it just felt like he was being a coward and putting someone in danger.

Then she just...broke the gun, and punched him in the face.

Katsuki pushed himself back to his feet as the asshole fell - eyes on the Quirked up chick and her gun-powdered covered hand as she asked if he was alright.

"Are you fucking serious?" his tone flat, "But uh...yeah. Fine. You?"

Are you serious? Toby had to admit that his question caught her a little off guard. People just normally answered her with a clear cut yes or no. Almost always with a yes, but Toby preferred knowing either way. He turned it around on her and Toby flashed a grin for a second before holding up her hand. Which was perfectly fine. Covered in gunpowder and with a good amount of burnt flesh, but all of that was already starting to heal. A combination of her aura, her pain tolerance, and her Dochas Sidhe blood. "I'm fine." She wriggled her fingers to prove a point, though that motion did cause pain too and Toby ignored it as well.

She took a look around at the men who were lying on the ground in various stages of pain. Regretting what they had done, more likely than not, and Toby sighed. Her smile had slid off her face in a quick, irritated sort of way. Toby shook her hand one more time and then shoved it into her jacket pocket. Away from view and where it'd be harder for her to use it unless she had to.

"Someone calling the cops?" Toby raised her voice ever so slightly as she looked up at the gathered crowd. People had pushed away but stopped the moment they thought that things were handled. Toby knew it was only a matter of time before someone said her name. Her voice lowered when she spoke again. "We may need to get out of here a little quickly." The problem with not wearing a costume and doing her stepping in to stop crime... gig? People knew who she was. Or they thought they knew...--Toby D! "Shit."

Her uninjured hand shot out to grab the teen by his arm. Her grip might have been a little tight but she couldn't leave him behind. Crowd would eat him alive if they thought he knew her somehow. A murmur in the crowd picked up as someone else shouted out the moniker Toby had gotten stuck with after the Calamity. "I'll explain, just move." And then Toby turned, running off to get them both clear as quickly as possible. The downside of being famous. People got weird.

Katsuki's gaze fell to her hand. It was a bit fucked up, but seemed to already be getting better...somehow. Did this chick have multiple Quirks? Fast healing and...what? Super strength? Hardening? All the fucking above? He knew Pandora didn't exactly care about the rules back home, but it was honestly all he knew. Anything else was foreign to him; fucking new. And honestly he didn't care enough about these other worlds to really give a damn about their own rules on how powers and shit worked.

Still, good she was fine.
Or whatever.

"What the fuck even is your Quirk?" he asked, with a bit of a smile - glancing up as she mentioned needing to get out of there quick. As he opened his mouth to mention that he actually did have his vigilante license (now), someone said a name and she pulled him out of the area.

What the fuck was even going on?

Katsuki glanced over his shoulder at the people. They didn't seem mad - just excited. Was she some big name or something? He...hadn't heard of anyone named Toby D. But he also hadn't really been paying attention. With all the other bullshit, he barely had time to train, let alone pay attention to who the big heroes were in Pandora.

And considering her power...yeah, she was probably one of them.

"You some big name or something?" he asked, continuing to let her drag him away from the scene.

The kid moved with her easily enough and Toby was grateful. Well, halfway grateful. The other side of her, the part that was a mother herself, wondered what the hell he was doing running off with a stranger like this. Toby was bad at settling on one emotion for these situations so she decided just to count her lucky stars in this case and get a move on towards where ever the hell they were going to actually go.

He asked about a quirk, which got a look to suggest that Toby didn't understand what the kid was talking about. Then he asked about her name and Toby huffed a laugh. Maybe the kid was new. Or maybe the kid was innocent and didn't go crawling around on the internet like other teenagers did. A rare bird if it was the latter. Doubly when the kid cussed like he was some weird unknown offspring of hers. "Could say that. I didn't pick the name, just what I got stuck with." Which was completely true, no matter what Pandora thought on the matter.

She dodged into an alley and kept the kid with her. One hand still on his arm as she suddenly started chanting a nursery rhyme. "Jack be nimble, Jack be quick. Jack jump over the candlestick." Then she skidded to a stop, moved against the alley wall, and then made a shushing motion towards the kid who could create explosions with his hands. A neat little trick. A quirk if she was using his vocab. The kid would have felt something odd. Like a sudden second skin all over his body that was none too comfortable, but something that wasn't too bad in Toby's mind because she basically wore an illusion every day.

A crowd of people went rushing by and a number of them looked into the alley to see where she had gone but didn't stop. They didn't see them at all. "No loud noises and we stay hidden." Which was really all that she could ask for, even if they were just a few feet away from a dumpster and currently dodging a crowd of Toby D fans. "Other questions? What was that about a quirk?" Toby didn't know what that was. Her aura? Her magic? All of the above?
