Ruby had been planning this for a few weeks now. She knew Nora was happy to have her around, of that there was no doubt, the young huntress knew that she was missing her team. Ruby had Yang from her team, while Nora was alone in that aspect, though not alone in terms of being without friends.
For a few, she had looked at different places they could visit, settling on Misty Hollow as it was one that had popped up at the start of the season and thus, from what she had been told, some of these places only lasted three months before vanishing the next season. A potentially spooky place where they might be able to fight some baddies? Ruby wasn't going to say no to that.
Adjusting the straps around her shoulders, the young huntress had packed enough food for them for this trip, plus extra since she knew how much Nora loved food. "NORA. YOU READY?" Ruby called out, shifting from foot to foot in anticipation and excitement - she had told Nora about this a bit ago so she could prepare and so that she knew she needed to be free for this day.
The last couple of nights found her with trouble sleeping, too excited for this trip between friends, eager to spend time with Nora and show her that she was here and that it was okay. Summer sat next to her, licking a paw and clearly not listening to Ruby screeching for one of her best friends.
Nora was trying so hard to be happy for them—for Yang, and for Ruby, that their team was almost whole again. She was trying to be optimistic, too—if Ruby and Blake had returned so quickly, then maybe Jaune and Pyrrha would too, maybe even Ren—but it was… hard, She’d been spending a lot more time with Ren, lately—he may not have been her Ren, but it had almost startled her when she realized she’d started thinking of him as just Ren, rather than other-Ren or not-Ren. It wasn’t that she was feeling her partner’s absence any less, but… the pain wasn’t quite as sharp as it had been, when he was around.
But that didn’t mean she loved Ruby and her team any less. And she’d realized, when Ruby asked to hang out, that she’d been… not exactly distant, but not around them as much of late. So this was a day she’d been looking forward to—exploring a spooky town with Ruby sounded like the perfect way to distract herself from everything else she’d been feeling, lately.
“READY!” Nora shouted back down the hall, as she shoved Magnhild into the holster at her back, and shoving the last few supplies (…ok, yes, they were cookies and some cake, shhhhh) into her bag before slinging it over her shoulder and bouncing out her door and down the hall. Taranis was in his customary spot inside her collar, holding the cloth in a death grip as his tiny nose and beady eyes poked over the top, whiskers buffeted by the breeze as Nora ran down the hall.
She skidded to a stop next to Ruby, hands perched on her hips, face split into a wide grin. “Spookytown, right? Think we’ll run into any ghosts?!” She probably shouldn’t have sounded so excited, but she couldn’t help it—it was an adventure, and she hadn’t been on enough of those lately.
Blake had returned not long after Ruby had, so it stood to reason that more of their new found family would show up and hopefully Ren or Jaune would be next. For Nora, because even though they were close, they hadn't been team mates the way Ruby was with team rwby or Nora was with team jnpr.
For now, their team was rnby and one would have to meet Ruby out back for a fight if there was any disagreements that weren't coming from her family. Did that make her their leader? No. Not unless they wanted her to be, though she did fit that role rather well, learning and growing as time had gone by.
"Onward!" Ruby grinned, reaching out to grab Nora's wrist before she bounded off, Summer getting to his paws and following with a flick of his tail and twitch of whiskers. "I both hope we do and we don't. Aren't you scared of ghosts?" She replied - ghosts would be an incredible find yet ghosts were also a little spooky, fitting in with the whole 'spookytown theme.'
"I've been looking forward to this foreverrrrrr." Ruby bounced on her feet as they made their way, positively thrilled to spend time with Nora and just explore. It was going to be a blast!
Summer simply rolled his eyes at Ruby's reactions, though he remained silent as he followed swiftly.
