October 28th, Year 109---Sosamma Road, near the border of Centria and the Crystal Vales

@Phosphophyllite

This part of Pandora was the most familiar to her. The Earth Kingdom was mostly rocky mountains, rolling grasslands, and farmland in varying states of productiveness. While there were some areas that were more untamed nearby, this section that bordered the next nation over and a body of water was the quietest part of the Crystal Vales. No strange metal carts or huge buildings to get in the way, or constant flows of people. Pengpeng flew somewhat low over the treeline, Kyoshi not too concerned with running into anything. The land was so open that it'd be impossible to not see an obstacle long before it was an issue. Pengpeng also tended to guide herself at times, not needing a rider to plot her exact path. Kyoshi had never heard of a Sky Bison crashing on their own.

But as calming as drifting over the region was, today was not meant for sightseeing. Today was for training. Even if she...didn't really have a teacher yet. That was going to be an issue, but Kyoshi could at least make sure her skills didn't decay. She directed Pengpeng to land by a small river clearing, and after sliding onto the ground, her Sky Bison ignored her in favor of investigating some apple trees. Kyoshi really hoped those didn't belong to anyone. She turned her attention to the stream, drawing and opening her war fans in preparation.

"Waterbending should be safe enough..." she said, concentrating as the current rushed by. It was somewhat fast, but not fast enough to sweep someone off their feet if they fell in. Not too dangerous if she accidentally dragged herself in.

Ever since they had been attacked by the oddity of a human, Phos made it a point to avoid the rest, bar the kind green-haired one. Whereas they once had been willing to venture into city dwellings, they now exclusively stuck to woodlands and desolate roads. They even considered running away to another region entirely, but to which? Centria? Or they could return to the moon, even if it would be different from what they remembered.

Ever since leaving "Hidden Crest", they've spent days and nights simply walking what they guessed was northwards. With water to their right and mountains to their left and a city behind them, it was the only real direction they were willing to go. Occasionally they would spot the odd traveler, which Phos would skirt around entirely. After a while, they began to see acres of lands roamed by animals boxed in fences. Some of them looked fluffy, others looked like giant birds. Sometimes, Phos spotted a huge scaley-looking thing that looked like it'd enjoy chewing on a gem.

It was on their... sixth day that they found something else entirely. It was a forest of trees, yet strange red lumps hung from their branches! It reminded Phosphophyllite of berries, the sort you'd crush to create powder from. Yet, they were much too large and they were on trees rather than bushes. And in that forest, Phos discovered... something. It was also big with 3 sets of legs like a Lunarian woof-woof. But it wasn't incorporeal and had things sticking out of its head! In all six hundred years... three hundred years of their waking life, Phos hadn't seen a creature like it.

It was big enough to reach up into the trees and eat the strange berries, something that it seemed to very much enjoy given how much it was eating. Phos hid behind a tree just watching it for a minute before grabbing an apple themself. They weren't quite willing to approach it, though, so Phos stretched out their arm from yards away to poke the creature. When they got its attention, they opened their fist to reveal the treat.

Pengpeng snorted and turned away from the tree she'd been stripping of fruit to find...a piece of rock poking at her. The bison's suspicion disappeared as soon as it revealed more food. Her eyes went a little bigger, and she took a moment to sniff at Phos's hand before opening her mouth. Her teeth were all flat like most herbivores, but the size of them was intimidating for people unused to a creature like her. Instead of biting down, she licked the apple out of their hand, unintentionally covering a section of their arm with drool.

Kyoshi was too focused on the river to pay attention to Pengpeng's discovery. She was trying to recall everything Kirima had crammed into her mind about waterbending before their first heist. It was just pushing and pulling. That was the main idea. You were the moon and you manipulated the tides. It was natural.

There was no full moon to help her now, so it was up to Kyoshi's own talent to make this work. Talent that she wasn't confident in, but she had to get over that obstacle at some point. She could feel herself sliding into a more grounded stance and forced herself to loosen up. No Neutral Jing here. She has to move with the force, not stand against it. Work with the water, not shove it like a piece of stubborn rock. Her eyes fell on a swirling eddy in the river, and she concentrated on that spot. There. Kyoshi began to copy the pattern of movement with her arms trying to influence the rest of the river to fall into place. Make a whirlpool. The current shifted subtly, and then curved to her will, growing stronger.

The giant fluff-fluff licked their hand as they ate the thingie, leaving a disgusting trail of slime behind. Immediately Phosphophyllite yelped in alarm, the gold alloy rippling as they retracted their arm. Was it trying to eat them? But they weren’t tasty at all! At least, Phos didn’t think they were tasty at all… Wait no, the Admirabilis ate them and while this fluff-fluff didn’t look anything like a snail, it was trying to eat them!

Immediately, Phos plucked some more of the weird red berries from the trees. They weren’t mean (or panicked) enough to pelt the fluff-fluff with the lumps, but they did throw them at its feet in a sort of sacrifice. A humble plea to “please not eat me, eat these things instead”.

That's when Phos spotted a human-shaped person messing with the water. Because that was the only logical conclusion, even if the sight before them wasn't logical at all. Of course, whatever arm movements they were using to move the water stopped at their yelp which only naturally drew the attention of everything in the area. Not their brightest choice, but also faaaaaar from their dumbest. Not that that was a high bar to clear....

With a sheepish wave of their hand, Phos simply said: "Hi."

Kyoshi jumped as someone screamed behind her, and a chunk of the river froze near instantly. She cursed under her breath and turned around. Pengpeng was currently watching a very tall figure that was...throwing apples? Was that an arm? It couldn't be. It looked shiny and far too long to be a normal appendage. Was that even a person? It was now waving at her, so maybe it wasn't hostile. Most things thst wanted you dead didn't greet you first.

Kyoshi didn't want them accidentally hurting Pengpeng though, and she jogged over to stand between the two. The closer she got to them, the more obviously not human the figure was. Their face and hair looked off. Too smooth and sharp, and even taller than her. That was a little intimidating. Maybe this was a spirit?

"Um...she's not going to attack, don't worry," Kyoshi said, glancing back at her bison. Pengpeng snorted at Phos hard enough to summon a short burst of airbending, but then looked away and ate the apples off the ground with a disinterested grunt. "See? Just hungry."

Well, well, well. Look what the cat metaphorical and/or literal god dragged in.
Went to school for 14 years just to never use 80% of of what they taught me. Crazy.
